Microwave-optics entanglement plays a crucial role in building hybrid quantum networks with quantum nodes working in the microwave and optical frequency bands. However, there are limited efficient ways to produce such entanglement due to the large frequency mismatch between the two regimes. Here, we present a new mechanism to prepare microwave-optics entanglement based on a hybrid system of two coupled opto- and magnomechanical microspheres, i.e., a YIG sphere and a silica sphere. The YIG sphere holds a magnon mode and a vibration mode induced by magnetostriction, while the silica sphere supports an optical whispering-gallery mode and a mechanical mode coupled via an optomechanical interaction. The two mechanical modes are close in frequency and directly coupled via physical contact of the two microspheres. We show that by simultaneously activating the magnomechanical (optomechanical) Stokes (anti-Stokes) scattering, stationary entanglement can be established between the magnon and optical modes via mechanics-mechanics coupling. This leads to stationary microwave-optics entanglement by further coupling the YIG sphere to a microwave cavity and utilizing the magnon-microwave state swapping. Our protocol is within reach of current technology and may become a promising new approach for preparing microwave-optics entanglement, which finds unique applications in hybrid quantum networks and quantum information processing with hybrid quantum systems.

Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) emerges as an essential technique for overcoming spectrum congestion. However, the performance of traditional ISAC systems with fixed-position-antennas (FPA) is limited due to insufficient spatial degree of freedom (DoF) exploration. Recently, fluid antenna (FA) with reconfigurable antenna position is developed to enhance the sensing and communication performance by reshaping the channel. This paper investigates an FA-enhanced ISAC system where a base station is equipped with multiple FAs to communicate with multiple single-antenna users and with FPAs to sense a point target. In this paper, we consider both perfect and imperfect channel state information (CSI) of the communication channel and sensing channel. In two cases, we focus on the maximization of the sensing signal-to-noise (SNR) by optimizing the positions of FAs and the dual-functional beamforming under the constraints of the FA moving region, the minimum FA distance and the minimum signal-to-interference-plus-noise (SINR) per user. Specifically, for the ideal case of perfect CSI, an iterative alternating optimization (AO) algorithm is proposed to tackle the formulated problem where the dual-functional beamforming and the FA positions are obtained via semidefinite relaxation (SDR) and successive convex approximation (SCA) techniques. Then, for the imperfect CSI case, we propose an AO-based iterative algorithm where $\mathcal{S}-$Procedure and SCA are applied to obtain the dual-functional beamforming and the FA positions. Furthermore, we analytically and numerically prove the convergence of the proposed algorithms. We show how to prepare magnonic squeezed states in an optomagnomechanical system, in which magnetostriction induced mechanical displacement couples to an optical cavity via radiation pressure. We discuss two scenarios depending on whether the magnomechanical coupling is linear or dispersive. We show that in both cases the strong mechanical squeezing obtained via two-tone driving of the optical cavity can be efficiently transferred to the magnon mode. In the linear coupling case, stationary magnon squeezing is achieved; while in the dispersive coupling case, a transient magnonic squeezed state is prepared in a two-step protocol. This paper investigates a fluid antenna (FA) enhanced integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system consisting of a base station (BS), multiple single-antenna communication users, and one point target, where the BS is equipped with FAs to enhance both the communication and sensing performance. First, we formulate a problem that maximizes the radar signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) by jointly optimizing the FAs' positions and transmit beamforming matrix. Then, to tackle this highly non-convex problem, we present efficient algorithms by using alternating optimization (AO), successive convex approximation (SCA), and semi-definite relaxation (SDR). The $A$V$_3$Sb$_5$ ($A=$ K, Rb, Cs) family of Kagome metals hosts unconventional charge density wave order whose nature is still an open puzzle. Accumulated evidences point to a time-reversal symmetry breaking orbital flux phase that carries loop currents. Such an order may support anomalous Hall effect. However, the polar Kerr effect measurements that probe the a.c. anomalous Hall conductivity seems to have yielded contradictory results. We first argue on symmetry grounds that some previously proposed orbital flux order, most notably the one with Star-of-David distortion, shall not give rise to anomalous Hall or polar Kerr effects. We further take the tri-hexagonal orbital flux phase as an exemplary Kagome flux order that does exhibit anomalous Hall response, and show that the Kerr rotation angle at two relevant experimental optical frequencies generally reaches microradians to sub-milliradians levels. A particularly sharp resonance enhancement is observed at around $\hbar \omega =1$ eV, suggesting exceedingly large Kerr rotation at the corresponding probing frequencies not yet accessed by previous experiments. Our study can help to interpret the Kerr measurements on $A$V$_3$Sb$_5$ and to eventually resolve the nature of their CDW order., Comment: 7+1 pages

Isolated interacting quantum systems generally thermalize, yet there are several counterexamples for the breakdown of ergodicity, such as many-body localization and quantum scars. Recently, ergodicity breaking has been observed in systems subjected to linear potentials, termed Stark many-body localization. This phenomenon is closely associated with Hilbert-space fragmentation, characterized by a strong dependence of dynamics on initial conditions. Here, we experimentally explore initial-state dependent dynamics using a ladder-type superconducting processor with up to 24 qubits, which enables precise control of the qubit frequency and initial state preparation. In systems with linear potentials, we observe distinct non-equilibrium dynamics for initial states with the same quantum numbers and energy, but with varying domain wall numbers. This distinction becomes increasingly pronounced as the system size grows, in contrast with disordered interacting systems. Recently, signatures of superconductivity with critical temperature from 20 to 30 K have been reported in pressured trilayer nickelate La$_4$Ni$_3$O$_{10}$ through a pressure-induced structure transition. Here we explore the evolution of electronic structures and electronic correlations in different phases of La$_4$Ni$_3$O$_{10}$ under corresponding pressure regions, by using density functional theory (DFT) combined with dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT). Similar to bilayer superconductor La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_{7}$, the electronic bands in superconducting La$_4$Ni$_3$O$_{10}$ are dominated by Ni-3$d_{x^2-y^2}$ and 3$d_{z^2}$ orbits near the Fermi level, in contrast, the inner Ni-O plane in La$_4$Ni$_3$O$_{10}$ generates a doublet hole-pocket Fermi surfaces around the Brillouin-zone corner, meanwhile one branch of the Ni-$3d_{z^2}$ bands is pushed very close above the Fermi level, which can induce an electron pocket through small electron doping. The DFT+DMFT simulations suggest that the electronic correlations only give minor modification to the Fermi surfaces, meanwhile the Ni-$3d_{z^2}$ and 3$d_{x^2-y^2}$ states on outer Ni-O layers have considerable greater mass enhancements than on the inner layer. The sensitiveness of electronic structure under doping and unique layer dependence of correlation suggest a distinct superconducting mechanism with respect to bilayer La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_{7}$. Based on the DFT and DFT+DMFT simulations, we eventually derive a trilayer effective tight-binding model, which can produce rather precise electronic bands and Fermi surfaces, hence can serve as an appropriate model to further study the superconducting mechanism and paring symmetry in trilayer La$_4$Ni$_3$O$_{10}$., Comment: 8 pages, 10 figures

We show how to achieve nonreciprocal quantum entanglement in a cavity magnomechanical system by exploiting the chiral cavity-magnon coupling. The system consists of a magnon mode, a mechanical vibration mode, and two degenerate counter-propagating microwave cavity modes in a torus-shaped cavity. We show that nonreciprocal stationary microwave-magnon and -phonon bipartite entanglements and photon-magnon-phonon tripartite entanglement can be achieved by respectively driving different circulating cavity modes that hold a chiral coupling to the magnon mode. The nonreciprocal entanglements are shown to be robust against various experimental imperfections. We specifically show how such nonreciprocal entanglement can realize the channel multiplexing quantum teleportation. The work may find promising applications of the cavity magnomechanical systems in noise-tolerant quantum processing, channel multiplexing quantum teleportation, and chiral magnonic quantum networks.

Two-level atoms coupled with single-mode cavity photons are predicted to exhibit a quantum phase transition when the coupling strength exceeds a critical value, entering a phase in which atomic polarization and photonic field are finite even at zero temperature and without external driving. However, this phenomenon, the superradiant phase transition (SRPT), is forbidden by a no-go theorem due to the existence of the diamagnetic term in the Hamiltonian. Here, we present spectroscopic evidence for a magnonic SRPT in ErFeO$_3$, where the role of the photonic mode (two-level atoms) in the photonic SRPT is played by an Fe$^{3+}$ magnon mode (Er$^{3+}$ spins). The absence of the diamagnetic term in the Fe$^{3+}$-Er$^{3+}$ exchange coupling ensures that the no-go theorem does not apply. Terahertz and gigahertz magnetospectroscopy experiments revealed the signatures of the SRPT -- a kink and a softening, respectively, of two spin-magnon hybridized modes at the critical point.

Thouless pumping, a dynamical version of the integer quantum Hall effect, represents the quantized charge pumped during an adiabatic cyclic evolution. Here we report experimental observations of nontrivial topological pumping that is induced by disorder even during a topologically trivial pumping trajectory. With a 41-qubit superconducting quantum processor, we develop a Floquet engineering technique to realize cycles of adiabatic pumping by simultaneously varying the on-site potentials and the hopping couplings. We demonstrate Thouless pumping in the presence of disorder and show its breakdown as the strength of disorder increases. Moreover, we observe two types of topological pumping that are induced by on-site potential disorder and hopping disorder, respectively. Especially, an intrinsic topological pump that is induced by quasi-periodic hopping disorder has never been experimentally realized before. Our highly controllable system provides a valuable quantum simulating platform for studying various aspects of topological physics in the presence of disorder.

We study the linear stability of holographic homogeneous solids (HHS) at finite temperature and in presence of a background shear strain by means of a large scale quasi-normal mode analysis which extends beyond the hydrodynamic limit. We find that mechanical instability can arise either as a result of a complex speed of sound -- gradient instability -- or of a negative diffusion constant. Surprisingly, the simplest HHS models are linearly stable for arbitrarily large values of the background strain. For more complex HHS, the onset of the diffusive instability always precedes that of the gradient instability, which becomes the dominant destabilizing process only above a critical value of the background shear strain. Finally, we observe that the critical strains for the two instabilities approach each other at low temperatures. We conclude by presenting a phase diagram for HHS as a function of temperature and background shear strain which shows interesting similarities with the physics of superfluids in presence of background superfluid velocity., Comment: v2: manuscript revised and improved

Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are transient radio signals with millisecond-duration, large dispersion measure (DM) and extremely high brightness temperature. Among them, FRB 20180916B has been found to have a 16-day periodically modulated activity. However, the physical origin of the periodicity is still a mystery. Here, we utilize the comprehensive observational data to diagnose the periodic models. We find that the ultra-long rotation model is the most probable one for the periodic activity. However, this model cannot reproduce the observed rotation measure (RM) variations. We propose a self-consistent model, i.e., a massive star binary containing a slowly rotational neutron star and a massive star with large mass loss, which can naturally accommodate the wealth of observational features for FRB 20180916B. In recent years, notable progress has been made in the study of hole qubits in planar germanium, and circuit quantum electrodynamics (circuit QED) has emerged as a promising approach for achieving long-range coupling and scaling up of qubits. Here, we demonstrate the coupling between holes in a planar germanium double quantum dot (DQD) and photons in a microwave cavity. Specifically, a real-time calibrated virtual gate method is developed to characterize this hybrid system, which in turn allows us to determine the typical parameters sequentially through single-parameter fitting instead of conventional multi-parameter fitting with additional uncertainty, and gives the hole-photon coupling rate of $g_0/2\pi$ = 21.7 MHz. This work is a step toward further research on hole-photon interactions and long-range qubit coupling in planar germanium. Characterizing the nature of hydrodynamical transport properties in quantum dynamics provides valuable insights into the fundamental understanding of exotic non-equilibrium phases of matter. Experimentally simulating infinite-temperature transport on large-scale complex quantum systems is of considerable interest. Here, using a controllable and coherent superconducting quantum simulator, we experimentally realize the analog quantum circuit, which can efficiently prepare the Haar-random states, and probe spin transport at infinite temperature. We observe diffusive spin transport during the unitary evolution of the ladder-type quantum simulator with ergodic dynamics. Moreover, we explore the transport properties of the systems subjected to strong disorder or a tilted potential, revealing signatures of anomalous subdiffusion in accompany with the breakdown of thermalization. Our work demonstrates a scalable method of probing infinite-temperature spin transport on analog quantum simulators, which paves the way to study other intriguing out-of-equilibrium phenomena from the perspective of transport., Comment: Main text: 13 pages, 5 figures; Supplementary: 17 pages, 16 figures, 1 table

In many Ce-based superconductors, superconducting (SC) phases emerge or can be tuned in proximity to the antiferromagnetic (AF) quantum critical point (QCP), but so far the explicit phase evolution near the QCP lack theoretical understanding. Here, by combing the density functional theory plus dynamical mean-field theory (DFT+DMFT) with effective-model calculations, we provide a theoretical description for Ce-based superconductors under compression. DFT+DMFT calculations for the normal states reveal that the Kondo hybridizations are significantly enhanced under compression, while the initially localized $f$ electrons become fully itinerant via localized-itinerant crossover. We then construct an effective model and show that with the extracted Kondo coupling and RKKY exchange strengths from first-principle calculations, the ground-state phases of these materials can be properly predicted. We also show that the coexistence of magnetic correlation and Kondo hybridization can drive AF+SC coexisting state in narrow compression region. Under compression, competition between Kondo and RKKY interactions can drive successive transitions, from AF phase to AF+SC coexisting phase, then to paramagnetic SC phase via an AF transition which generates the QCP, and finally to normal Kondo paramagnetic (KP) phase through an SC-KP transition induced by the localized-itinerant crossover. Our study gives proper explanation to the pressure-induced QCP and SC-KP transition, and to the phase evolution in pressured Ce-based superconductors, and can help to understand the SC states around the ferromagnetic quantum transition points in uranium-based superconductors., Comment: 16 pages, 14 figures

Artificial intelligence (AI) has shown great promise in revolutionizing the field of digital health by improving disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. This paper describes the Health Guardian platform, a non-commercial, scientific research-based platform developed by the IBM Digital Health team to rapidly translate AI research into cloud-based microservices. The platform can collect health-related data from various digital devices, including wearables and mobile applications. Its flexible architecture supports microservices that accept diverse data types such as text, audio, and video, expanding the range of digital health assessments and enabling holistic health evaluations by capturing voice, facial, and motion bio-signals. These microservices can be deployed to a clinical cohort specified through the Clinical Task Manager (CTM). The CTM then collects multi-modal, clinical data that can iteratively improve the accuracy of AI predictive models, discover new disease mechanisms, or identify novel biomarkers. This paper highlights three microservices with different input data types, including a text-based microservice for depression assessment, a video-based microservice for sit-to-stand mobility assessment, and a wearable-based microservice for functional mobility assessment. The CTM is also discussed as a tool to help design and set up clinical studies to unlock the full potential of the platform. Today, the Health Guardian platform is being leveraged in collaboration with research partners to optimize the development of AI models by utilizing a multitude of input sources. The polar Kerr effect and the closely related anomalous charge Hall effect are among the most distinguishing signatures of the superconducting state in Sr$_2$RuO$_4$, as well as in several other compounds. These effects are often thought to be derived from chiral superconducting pairing, and different mechanisms have been invoked for the explanation. However, the intrinsic mechanisms proposed previously often involve unrealistically strong interband Cooper pairing. In this study we show that, even without interband pairing, nonunitary superconducting states can support intrinsic anomalous charge Hall effect, thanks to the quantum geometric properties of the Bloch electrons. The key here is to have a normal-state spin Hall effect, for which a nonzero spin-orbit coupling is essential. A finite charge Hall effect then naturally arises at the onset of a spin-polarized nonunitary superconducting pairing. It depends on both the spin polarization and the normal-state electron Berry curvature, the latter of which is the imaginary part of the quantum geometric tensor of the Bloch states. Applying our results to the weakly-paired Sr$_2$RuO$_4$ we conclude that, if the reported Kerr effect is of intrinsic origin, the superconducting state is most likely nonunitary and has odd-parity. One approach to probe the still controversial superconductivity in Sr$_2$RuO$_4$ is to apply external perturbations that break the underlying tetragonal crystalline symmetry. Chiral $p_x+ip_y$ and $d_{xz}+id_{yz}$ states respond to such perturbations in ways that may help to distinguish them from other superconducting pairings. However, past experimental efforts along this line, using uniaxial strains and magnetic fields parallel to the RuO$_2$ plane, have not been able to reach an unambiguous conclusion. In this study, we propose to further examine the possibility of chiral superconducting order in Sr$_2$RuO$_4$ using an alternative tetragonal-symmetry-breaking perturbation -- in-plane supercurrent. We study the superconducting phase diagram as a function of both temperature and the applied supercurrent. Supercurrent generically splits the transition of the two chiral order parameter components, and we show that the splitting can give rise to visible specific heat anomalies. Furthermore, supercurrent parallel and anti-parallel to the unidirectional propagation of the chiral edge modes impact the edge states in different manner. This difference manifests in the tunneling spectrum, thereby providing an additional means to probe the chirality even when the related spontaneous edge current is vanishingly small. Finally, we discuss the distinction of supercurrent responses in non-chiral time-reversal-symmetry-breaking superconducting states. Two-dimensional (2D) half-metallic materials are highly desirable for nanoscale spintronic applications. Here, we propose a new mechanism that can achieve half-metallicity in 2D ferromagnetic (FM) material with two-layer magnetic atoms by electric field tuning. We use a concrete example of experimentally synthesized CrSBr monolayer to illustrate our proposal through the first-principle calculations. It is found that the half-metal can be achieved in CrSBr within appropriate electric field range, and the corresponding amplitude of electric field intensity is available in experiment. Janus monolayer $\mathrm{Cr_2S_2BrI}$ is constructed, which possesses built-in electric field due to broken horizontal mirror symmetry. However, $\mathrm{Cr_2S_2BrI}$ without and with applied external electric field is always a FM semiconductor. A possible memory device is also proposed based on CrSBr monolayer. Charge-changing cross section ($\sigma_{\text{cc}}$) measurements via the transmission method have made important progress recently aiming to determine the charge radii of exotic nuclei. In this work, we report a new $\sigma_{\text{cc}}$ measurement of 304(9) MeV/nucleon $^{28}$Si on carbon at the second Radioactive Ion Beam Line in Lanzhou (RIBLL2) and describe the data analysis procedure in detail. This procedure is essential to evaluate the systematic uncertainty in the transmission method. The determined $\sigma_{\mathrm{cc}}$ of 1125(11) mb is found to be consistent with the existing data at similar energies. The experimental realization of Fermi-Hubbard tweezer arrays opens a new stage for engineering fermionic matter, where programmable lattice geometries and Hubbard model parameters are combined with single-site imaging. In order to use these versatile experimental Fermi-Hubbard models as quantum simulators, it is crucial to know the Hubbard parameters describing them. Here we develop methods to calculate the Hubbard model parameters of arbitrary two-dimensional lattice geometries: the tunneling $t$, on-site potential $V$, and interaction $U$, for multiple bands and for both fermions and bosons. We show several examples. One notable finding is that a finite array of equally strong and separated individual tweezer potentials actually sums to give a non-periodic total potential and thus spatially non-uniform Hubbard parameters. We demonstrate procedures to find trap configurations that equalize these parameters. More generally, these procedures solve the inverse problem of calculating Hubbard parameters: given desired Hubbard parameters, find trap configurations to realize them. The bistable deployable composite boom (Bi-DCB) can realize the bistable function by storing and releasing strain energy, which has a good application prospect in the aerospace field. In this paper, the folding stable state of the Bi-DCB was investigated using experimental and numerical approaches. Using the vacuum bag method, six Bi-DCB specimens were prepared. Bistable experiments of Bi-DCB specimens were conducted and linear fitting with Archimedes' helix was performed to determine the folding stable configuration. In addition, two Finite Element Models (FEMs) were established for predicting the folding stable state of the Bi-DCB. Two classical failure criteria were utilized to analyze the stress level of the folding stable state of the Bi-DCB. Numerical results of two FEMs agreed well with experimental results, including the bistable deformation process and the folding stable state.

We revisit the computation of the shear viscosity to entropy ratio in a holographic p-wave superfluid model, focusing on the role of rotational symmetry breaking. We study the interplay between explicit and spontaneous symmetry breaking and derive a simple horizon formula for $\eta/s$, which is valid also in the presence of explicit breaking of rotations and is in perfect agreement with the numerical data. We observe that a source which explicitly breaks rotational invariance suppresses the value of $\eta/s$ in the broken phase, competing against the effects of spontaneous symmetry breaking. However, $\eta/s$ always reaches a constant value in the limit of zero temperature, which is never smaller than the Kovtun-Son-Starinets (KSS) bound, $1/4\pi$. This behavior appears to be in contrast with previous holographic anisotropic models which found a power-law vanishing of $\eta/s$ at small temperature. This difference is shown to arise from the properties of the near-horizon geometry in the extremal limit. Thus, our construction shows that the breaking of rotations itself does not necessarily imply a violation of the KSS bound., Comment: 20 pages, 7 figures
