Abstract Two-dimensional (2D) AMX2 compounds are a family of mixed ionic and electronic conductors (where A is a monovalent metal ion, M is a trivalent metal, and X is a chalcogen) that offer a fascinating platform to explore intrinsic coupled ionic-electronic properties. However, the synthesis of 2D AMX2 compounds remains challenging due to their multielement characteristics and various by-products. Here, we report a separated-precursor-supply chemical vapor deposition strategy to manipulate the chemical reactions and evaporation of precursors, facilitating the successful fabrication of 20 types of 2D AMX2 flakes. Notably, a 10.4 nm-thick AgCrS2 flake shows superionic behavior at room temperature, with an ionic conductivity of 192.8 mS/cm. Room temperature ferroelectricity and reconfigurable positive/negative photovoltaic currents have been observed in CuScS2 flakes. This study not only provides an effective approach for the synthesis of multielement 2D materials with unique properties, but also lays the foundation for the exploration of 2D AMX2 compounds in electronic, optoelectronic, and neuromorphic devices.

Cinnamomum bodinieri is important landscaping and economic tree species, which is rich in essential oils in branches and leaves. However, there are few theoretical researches on the genomics of C. bodinieri. In order to reveal the chloroplast genomic characteristics and phylogenetic relationship of C. bodinieri, the complete chloroplast genome was sequenced based on Illumina platform and assembled through de novo. The genome structure, gene composition, sequence repeats, codon usage bias and phylogeny were analyzed subsequently. Furthermore, the phylogenetic tree was constructed with the chloroplast genome data of the main species of Subfam. Lauroideae. The results were as follows: (1) The complete chloroplast genome of C. bodinieri was 152 727 bp in length including two inverted repeats (IRs) of 20 132 bp, which were separated by large single copy(LSC) of 93 605 bp and short single copy(SSC) of 18 858 bp, respectively, and the GC content was 39.13%. (2) The genome encoded 127 functional genes, including 83 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 36 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. A total of 92 SSR loci were detected in the chloroplast genome, and most of them were composed of nucleobase A and T. The codon adaptation index (CAI) and effective number of codons (ENc) were 0.166 and 54.68, respectively. There were some differences in IR region and the boundary of two SC regions of the chloroplast genomes between C. bodinieri and related species. (3) Phylogenetic tree based on 24 species of Subfam. Lauroideae showed that the C. bodinieri was most closely related to C. camphora. The phylogeny strongly supported the establishment of the three clades, Cinnamomum-Ocotea, Laurus-Neolitsea, and Machilus-Persea. This study enriched the information on the genetic resources of C. bodinieri, and further clarified the phylogenetic status of the main genera of Subfam. Lauroideae.

Objectives: Postoperative delirium (POD) is considered to be a common complication of spine surgery. Although many studies have reported the risk factors associated with POD, the results remain unclear. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to identify risk factors for POD among patients following spinal surgery. Methods: We systematically searched the PubMed, Embase and the Cochrane Library for relevant articles published from 2006 to February 1, 2023 that reported risk factors associated with the incidence of POD among patients undergoing spinal surgery. The Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (MOOSE) guidelines were followed, and random effects models were used to estimate pooled odds ratio (OR) estimates with 95 % confidence intervals (CIs) for each factor. The evidence from observational studies was classified according to Egger's P value, total sample size, and heterogeneity between studies. Results: Of 11,329 citations screened, 50 cohort studies involving 1,182,719 participants met the inclusion criteria. High-quality evidence indicated that POD was associated with hypertension, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, pulmonary disease, older age (>65 years), patients experiencing substance use disorder (take drug ≥1 month), cerebrovascular disease, kidney disease, neurological disorder, parkinsonism, cervical surgery, surgical site infection, postoperative fever, postoperative urinary tract infection, and admission to the intensive care unit (ICU). Moderate-quality evidence indicated that POD was associated with depression, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) fitness grade (>II), blood transfusion, abnormal potassium, electrolyte disorder, length of stay, inability to ambulate and intravenous fluid volume. Conclusions: Conspicuous risk factors for POD were mainly patient- and surgery-related. These findings help clinicians identify high-risk patients with POD following spinal surgery and recognize the importance of early intervention.

Summary: T cells are able to recognize and kill pathogens that infect host cells, including bacteria, viruses, and tumor cells. Here, we present a protocol to detect T cell function and bacterial load in OVA-Listeria monocytogenes-infected mice. We provide a detailed description of the steps for detecting OVA-specific CD8+ T cells and their cytokine expression levels in splenocytes using flow cytometry on day 7 after infecting mice with OVA-Listeria monocytogenes. Abstract 2D ferromagnet is a good platform to investigate topological effects and spintronic devices owing to its rich spin structures and excellent external‐field tunability. The appearance of the topological Hall Effect (THE) is often regarded as an important sign of the generation of chiral spin textures, like magnetic vortexes or skyrmions. Here, interface engineering and an in‐plane current are used to modulate the magnetic properties of the nearly room‐temperature 2D ferromagnet Fe5GeTe2. An artificial topology phenomenon is observed in the Fe5GeTe2/MnPS3 heterostructure by using both anomalous Hall Effect and reflective magnetic circular dichroism (RMCD) measurements. Through tuning the applied current and the RMCD laser wavelength, the amplitude of the humps and dips observed in the hysteresis loops can be modulated accordingly. Magnetic field‐dependent hysteresis loops demonstrate that the observed artificial topological phenomena are induced by the generation and annihilation of the magnetic domains. This work provides an optical method for investigating the topological‐like effects in magnetic structures and proposes an effective way to modulate the magnetic properties of magnetic materials, which is important for developing magnetic and spintronic devices in van der Waals magnetic materials.

Abstract The domestic health care system has been facing a difficult task, especially in medical care, and Chinese nurses are under tremendous psychological pressure. Psychological support is a protective factor to relieve stress. This study examined the stress level and characteristics of Chinese nurses with different psychological support-seeking behaviours. Data from online questionnaires for this cross-sectional study were collected between January 2020 and February 2020 and yielded 2248 valid questionnaires for analysis with a response rate of 99.8%. General information of the respondents was also collected. The nurses’ stress levels were assessed using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10). T tests, chi-square tests, and linear regression were used to examine the relationships among the factors. The results of this survey showed that between January and February 2020, 26.9% of nurses received psychological counselling, and the proportion was higher among men and nurses with lower education. The PSS-10 was related to gender, age group, provincial severity, and confidence in the control of the epidemic. The results showed that psychological support can effectively improve the confidence of domestic nurses in the face of arduous work and effectively relieve the psychological pressure caused by a heavy workload.

Plant communities in urban wetland parks (UWP) have significant eco-healthcare benefits in terms of regulating the climate and improving the human living environment. However, factors influencing the regulation of eco-healthcare benefits are unclear. Taking Huaxi Ten Mile Beach National Urban Wetland Park as an example, the urban wetland park comprehensive healthcare index (UPCHI) was constructed based on an outdoor survey and indoor analysis to evaluate the UWP’s eco-healthcare benefits. Pathway analysis was used to investigate how climatic, geographic, and plant factors interact to affect the UPCHI. The results show that, over the whole year, tree–shrub–herb showed the best performance in terms of reducing PM2.5, PM10, and noise, as well as raising negative air ion concentrations; however, human comfort performed the worst. The UPCHI was generally beyond level Ⅲ (0.49–0.58) in the spring and summer, indicating that there are eco-healthcare benefits. Overall, the deciduous tree–shrub–herb community had the highest annual mean UPCHI, and more than half of the plant communities’ eco-healthcare benefits were class Ⅱ, which is very beneficial for eco-healthcare. The main direct factors on UPCHI were illumination intensity (0.68) and tree height (0.90), while canopy height (0.64–0.59) and tree crown radius/canopy height (0.72–0.14) directly or indirectly influenced UPCHI. The distance from the edge of the mountain (−0.39–−0.322) had a direct negative, but minor, effect on UPCHI. This study will assist residents with selecting suitable times and places for wetland recreation and healthcare activities, and it offers a valuable reference for the future planning and design of UWP plant communities.

Abstract Background The high prevalence of dysphagia among Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients has become a public health and economic concern. Therefore, effective and accessible dysphagia treatments are needed. As a fundamental rehabilitation of dysphagia, swallowing muscle exercises have received increased attention. Stepwise swallowing training (SST), integrated with all swallowing organs movement, is expected to improve swallowing dysfunction among AD patients. By using a randomized controlled trial design, we propose a multi-center research to evaluate the effectiveness of SST program among AD patients. Methods A multi-center exploratory randomized controlled trial, with a 4-week follow-up period, will be conducted in three major public psychiatric hospitals in Guangdong, China. Participants in the control group will be assigned to routine dysphagia care, while participants in the intervention group will undergo the same nursing care and additionally receive the SST program. The SST program includes five sections of swallowing organs training: lip movement, facial movement, tongue movement, mandibular movement, and neck movement. Primary outcomes evaluate the swallowing function, namely, Water Swallowing Test (WTS) and Standard Swallowing Assessment (SSA). Secondary outcomes aim at measuring the improvement of negative impacts of dysphagia, namely eating behavior, ability of daily activity, and nutritional status. Data will be collected at baseline (T 1), at 2 weeks (T 2, intervention), and 4 weeks after intervention (T 3, follow-up). Discussion This study will offer trial-based evidence of the effectiveness of SST in relieving dysphagia among AD patients. SST program is expected to improve both the swallowing function and reduce the negative impacts of dysphagia, with an exploration of acceptability in the SST program. The symbiosis between ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungal species and the root system of Pinus massoniana is important for its growth. However, the characteristics of ECM fungal communities and their relationships with extracellular enzyme activities and nutrients in the rhizosphere soil of different P. massoniana genotypes have not been well characterized. In this study, P. massoniana families (groups of offspring from different parents) with different levels of growth were selected for investigating ECM fungal communities, soil nutrients, extracellular enzyme activity, and leaf nutrient concentrations to explore the relationships between P. massoniana and the composition of the ECM fungal community. The high-growth (HG) family of P. massoniana had more different ECM fungal communities than the medium-growth (MG) and low-growth (LG) families; each family had a unique and dominant genera (HG: Amphinema and Pseudoclathrosphaerina; MG: Russula and Auricularia; and LG: Russula and Amanita). Amphinema was the main contributor to the differences among the three families (contribution: HG-MG 0.225 and HG-LG 0.17) and had rich extramatrical mycelium, which favored the growth of the HG family and positively affected the accumulation of soil organic carbon. Structural equation modelling showed that the dominant genera in the HG family had significant positive effects on the activity of three extracellular enzymes (BG, NAG, and AP) (weak to moderate positive effects of Amphinema on BG, NAG, and AP and moderate positive effects of Pseudoclathrosphaerina on BG, NAG, and AP), which might have contributed to the differences in extracellular enzyme activities among the families with different growth levels. Redundancy analysis indicated that P. massoniana growth traits (tree height, diameter at breast height, and timber volume), soil total nitrogen, and the N/P ratio significantly influenced ECM fungal communities. The study revealed the characteristics of ECM fungal communities, soil extracellular enzyme activity, and nutrient features of P. massoniana with different growth levels, which help improve our understanding of the relationship between P. massoniana genotype and ECM fungal communities.

Studies on the dynamics of non-structural carbohydrates (NSCs) play an important role in understanding the mechanisms of plant responses to drought stress. The objective of this study was to assess the influence of ectomycorrhizal fungi (ECMF) on the content and distribution of NSCs in Pinus massoniana seedlings under different drought intensities and to further explore the possible mechanism by which ECMF enhances the stress resistance of host plants. We conducted a pot experiment using P. massoniana seedlings that were inoculated (M) or non-inoculated (NM) with Suillus luteus (Sl) under well-watered, moderate, and severe drought stress conditions. The results showed that drought significantly reduced the photosynthetic capacity of P. massoniana seedlings and inhibited their growth rate. P. massoniana could respond to different degrees of drought stress by increasing the accumulation of NSCs and increasing WUE. However, compared with well-watered treatment, NSCs consumption began to appear in the roots of NM due to the decrease in starch content under severe drought, whereas NSCs content in M seedlings was higher than that in the well-watered treatment, showing that the ability to maintain C balance was higher in M seedlings. Compared with NM, inoculation with Sl increased the growth rate and biomass of roots, stems, and leaves under moderate and severe drought. In addition, Sl can also improve the gas exchange parameters (net photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, intercellular CO2 concentration and stomatal conductance) of P. massoniana seedlings compared with NM seedlings, which was conducive to the hydraulic regulation of seedlings and improved their C fixation capacity. Meanwhile, the content of NSCs in M seedlings was higher. Moreover, the soluble sugar content and SS/St ratio of leaves, roots, and whole plants were higher under drought stress after Sl inoculation, indicating that Sl could also change the C distribution mode, regulate more soluble sugar to respond to drought stress, which was conducive to improving the osmotic adjustment ability of seedlings, and providing more available C sources for plant growth and defense. Overall, inoculation with Sl could enhance the drought resistance of seedlings and promote their growth under drought stress by improving NSCs storage, increasing soluble sugar distribution, and improving the plant water balance of P. massoniana seedlings.

ObjectivesMetachronous liver metastasis (LM) significantly impacts the prognosis of stage I-III colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. An effective biomarker to predict LM after surgery is urgently needed. We aimed to develop deep learning-based models to assist in predicting LM in stage I-III CRC patients using digital pathological images.MethodsSix-hundred eleven patients were retrospectively included in the study and randomly divided into training (428 patients) and validation (183 patients) cohorts according to the 7:3 ratio. Digital HE images from training cohort patients were used to construct the LM risk score based on a 50-layer residual convolutional neural network (ResNet-50). An LM prediction model was established by multivariable Cox analysis and confirmed in the validation cohort. Frequent outbreaks of marine disasters in the context of global warming pose a serious threat to the sustainable development of coastal areas and the construction of global maritime capitals. Implementing integrated marine and coastal management and assessing and enhancing cities’ resilience to marine disasters are of practical importance. Based on the capital perspective, this study innovatively constructed a framework for the Coastal Marine Disaster Resilience Index (CMDRI) for the coastal city level, considering the main marine disaster characteristics of Chinese coastal areas. Eight coastal cities in China proposed to build global maritime capitals were used as research objects. The random forest model, which can handle complex nonlinear systems and feature importance, was applied for the first time to resilience assessment and key factor identification in marine disasters. The results show that the overall level of CMDRI of each city is steadily increasing, with Shenzhen having the highest marine disaster resilience grade for each year and Zhoushan having the lowest. Economic and human capitals accounted for a more significant proportion of key factors, followed by physical and social capitals, and environmental capital accounted for a minor proportion. The comparison results of model performance show that the random forest model has better fitting accuracy and stability in assessing CMDRI and can be further applied to other disaster resilience and sustainability areas.

Utilizing recycled crushed clay brick (RCB) from C&D waste in road engineering construction as the substitute for natural aggregates has attracted a lot of attention, which would be a promising step forward towards sustainable development and green construction. The objective of this study is to assess the feasibility of cement-stabilized macadam (CSM), incorporating various RCB fine aggregate substitution ratios. For this purpose, the physical and chemical properties of RCB fine aggregate was tested, and RCB exhibited a porous surface micro-morphology, high water absorption and pozzolanic activity. Subsequently, a comprehensive experimental investigation of modified CSM with RCB has been carried out based on laboratory tests concerning the mechanical and shrinkage properties. Results showed that higher RCB fine aggregate substitution ratio resulted in lower unconfined compressive strength, and the negative influence of RCB on unconfined compressive strength would decrease gradually, varying curing time; however, the higher the RCB substitution ratio was, the larger the indirect tensile strength at 90 d curing time of the late curing period was. CSM containing RCB had an overall increasing accumulative water loss rate, accumulative strain of dry shrinkage and average coefficient of dry shrinkage, except that 20% RCB resulted in an excellent dry shrinkage property. Moreover, RCB with pozzolanic activity reacted very slowly mainly at later ages, enhancing the interfacial transition zone.

Bikeshare use in New York City dropped substantially during the initial months of the COVID-19 pandemic, but by summer of 2020 had largely recovered to pre-pandemic levels. The patterns of usage, however, have changed. In this study we compare bikeshare trip patterns in September 2020 to September 2019, restricting our analysis to the Borough of Brooklyn in New York City. We focus on user types, time of day, and changes in the origin and destination of trips, based on aggregated land uses surrounding docking stations. Our results suggest a shift toward longer trips and more recreational trips with fewer work-related trips.

Fagus longipetiolata Seemen is a deciduous tree of the Fagus genus in Fagaceae, which is endemic to China. In this study, we successfully sequenced the cp genome of F. longipetiolata, compared the cp genomes of the Fagus genus, and reconstructed the phylogeny of Fagaceae. The results showed that the cp genome of F. longipetiolata was 158,350 bp, including a pair of inverted repeat (IRA and IRB) regions with a length of 25,894 bp each, a large single-copy (LSC) region of 87,671 bp, and a small single-copy (SSC) region of 18,891 bp. The genome encoded 131 unique genes, including 81 protein-coding genes, 37 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), 8 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), and 5 pseudogenes. In addition, 33 codons and 258 simple sequence repeats (SSRs) were identified. The cp genomes of Fagus were relatively conserved, especially the IR regions, which showed the best conservation, and no inversions or rearrangements were found. The five regions with the largest variations were the rps12, rpl32, ccsA, trnW-CCA, and rps3 genes, which spread over in LSC and SSC. The comparison of gene selection pressure indicated that purifying selection was the main selective pattern maintaining important biological functions in Fagus cp genomes. However, the ndhD, rpoA, and ndhF genes of F. longipetiolata were affected by positive selection. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that F. longipetiolata and F. engleriana formed a close relationship, which partially overlapped in their distribution in China. Our analysis of the cp genome of F. longipetiolata would provide important genetic information for further research into the classification, phylogeny and evolution of Fagus.

This study examines the likelihood millennials are to own a car and the factors that have driven a reduction in car consumption. Based on a travel decision survey performed in 2015 in San Francisco, no significant evidence supports the claim that millennials are different from prior generations in terms of car ownership. Individuals with higher incomes and those that preferred more access and convenience were more likely to own a vehicle.

Pines have heteroblastic foliage (primary and secondary needles) during seedling stage, but how heteroblastic foliage affects carbon storage and biomass accumulation, contributing to seedling quality, is unclear. We investigated the influences of heteroblastic foliage on photosynthetic physiological characteristics, non-structural carbohydrate (NSC) and biomass accumulation in current-year seedlings; the key factors determining biomass accumulation were mainly determined by principal component screening, Spearman correlation, and path analysis. The results indicated that (1) primary needles have high photosynthetic pigments (chlorophyll a and total chlorophyll), net photosynthetic rates (Pn), the potential maximum photochemical efficiency (Fv/Fm), and leaf instantaneous water use efficiency (WUEi), whereas higher non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) suggested that sudden light increases induce the initiation of quenching mechanism in primary needles; additionally, secondary needles had a lower transpiration rate (Tr), limiting stomata (Ls), and light saturation point. (2) Secondary needles promoted soluble sugar (fructose and glucose) increases in leaves compared to that of primary needles and increased the leaf biomass accumulation (from 47.06% to 54.30%), enhancing the overall ability of photosynthetic organs; additionally, secondary needles can enhance the proportion of starch storage in the roots, and NSC accumulation was significantly increasing in the seedling leaves and roots. (3) Photosynthetic pigments (carotenoids, chlorophyll a, and total chlorophyll) had direct positive effects on primary needle seedling (PNS) biomass and promoted biomass by indirectly increasing soluble sugar synthesis in the stems. The Pn was the main physiological factor determining PNS biomass accumulation. In addition, the WUEi, Ls, and NPQ had direct negative effects on PNS biomass accumulation, inhibiting photosynthesis to limit seedling growth. Considering the functional traits in heteroblastic foliage is necessary when assessing different leaf types of Pinus massoniana (Lamb.) seedlings, in particular those threats implicated in light, water, and temperature relations. Our results can be beneficial to guide the establishment of seedling management and afforestation measures.

This study aims to investigate the performance evolution and mechanism of asphalt under action of chloride salt erosion. Asphalt samples soaked with five different snow melting chloride salt concentrations were taken as the research object. Then, the high-temperature performance, low-temperature performance, temperature sensitivity and asphalt–aggregate adhesion property of asphalt samples were carried out. Additionally, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was used to explore the mechanism of chloride salt erosion on asphalt. Test results showed the linear variation relationships of high-temperature performance, low-temperature performance and temperature sensitivity with chloride salt concentrations. The high-temperature performance of asphalt would be improved by chloride snowmelt salt. With the increase in the chloride salt solution concentration, the low-temperature performance of asphalt became worse, and the temperature sensitivity increased. Moreover, after the effect of the chloride salt solution, the asphalt–aggregate adhesion property decreased with the increase in the chloride salt solution concentration. It is necessary to control the amount of chloride snowmelt salt in the actual snow removal projects. Finally, based on Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, the mechanism of chloride salt erosion on asphalt was preliminarily explored. With the increase in the chloride salt solution concentration, the proportion of light components (saturated fraction, aromatic fraction) in asphalt decreased, and the proportion of heavy components (resin and asphaltene) with good thermal stability increased.

Light intensity is a critical factor regulating photosynthetic capacity in plants. However, the effects of varying light intensity on morphological and photoprotective mechanisms in Pinus massoniana seedlings have not been explored in depth, especially those in the first seedling growing season. We measured the growth, photosynthetic physiology, biochemistry, and chlorophyll fluorescence of P. massoniana seedlings at four light gradients: 100% relative irradiance (RI, full sunlight), 70% RI, 50% RI, and 20% RI. The seedling height at 70% RI was 9.27% higher than that at 100% RI. However, seedling height was inhibited under low light intensity; at 20% RI, all seedlings died. The decreasing light intensity inhibited ground diameter growth but increased the height-diameter ratio. The secondary needle emergence rate was 53.4% higher at 70% RI than at 100% RI but was only 2% at 50% RI. The chlorophyll and carotenoid contents increased significantly with decreasing light intensity. The increased Chl b and Car contents promoted the photoreceptor potential of the violet (400~420 nm), blue (440~480 nm), and yellow-orange (597~655 nm) regions in leaves. Among the chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, Fv/Fm, Fv′/Fm′, Y(II), qp, and ETR all reached maximum values at 70% RI but were significantly lower at 50% RI than at 100% RI. However, decreasing the light intensity caused a reduction in NPQ. The 70% RI level increased POD and SOD activity and the contents of osmotic regulation substances and slowed MDA accumulation. Seedlings at 70% RI had a higher growth rate, higher photosynthetic activity and potential, and significantly greater stress resistance than the other seedlings. Therefore, appropriate shading measures were beneficial to the cultivation of vigorous seedlings. Furthermore, spectral reflectance indexes were found to be a suitable tool for monitoring the photosynthetic physiological characteristics, stress resistance characteristics, and growth status of P. massoniana seedlings in real time.

Masson pine is an important afforestation species in southern China, where seasonal drought is common. The present study focused on the effects of Suillus placidus, an ectomycorrhizal fungus, inoculation on the growth and physiological and biochemical performance of masson pine seedlings under four different watering treatments (well-watered, mild drought, moderate drought, and severe drought) to evaluate the symbiotic relationship between S. placidus and masson pine seedlings. Ectomycorrhizal-inoculated (ECM) and non-inoculated (NM) seedlings were grown in pots and maintained for 60 days using the weighing method. Results showed that seedlings’ growth, dry weight, RWC, chlorophyll content, PSII efficiency, and photosynthesis decreased as drought stress intensified in both ECM and NM plants. This suggests that drought stress significantly limits the growth and photosynthetic performance of masson pine seedlings. Nevertheless, increased An/gs and proline contents in both NM and ECM prevented oxidative damage caused by drought stress. In addition, increased peroxidase (POD) activity is an essential defense mechanism of ECM seedling under drought stress. Compared with NM, ECM seedlings showed faster growth, higher RWC, and photosynthetic performance, and lower lipid peroxidation in cell membranes under drought stress, as indicated by higher POD activity and lower proline and malondialdehyde (MDA). Our experiment found that S. placidus inoculation can enhance the drought resistance of masson pine seedlings by increasing antioxidant enzyme activity, water use efficiency, and proline content, thereby enhancing growth under water-deficiency conditions. S. placidus can be used to cultivate high-quality seedlings and improve their survival in regions that experience seasonal droughts.
