Abstract

The article discusses a study which evaluated the effects of aerobic and anaerobic exercises and carbohydrate supplementation on blood concentrations of leukocytes, hemoglobin and serum glucose in Wistar rats. The study reported that extreme and lengthy exercise can lessen the circulating leukocytes and diminish their functional capacity. It also revealed that the intake of a carbohydrate solution can counter the immunosuppressive effects of exercise.
