Bu araştırma hemşirelerin, kan transfüzyonu hakkındaki bilgi düzeylerini ve güvenli kan transfüzyonu uygulama basamaklarını gerçekleştirme durumlarını değerlendirmek amacıyla yapıldı. Tanımlayıcı olarak yürütülen araştırma bir hastanenin yoğun bakım üniteleri ile dahili ve cerrahi kliniklerinde Ekim 2018-Temmuz 2019 tarihleri arasında yapıldı. Araştırmanın evrenini bu kliniklerinde çalışan 391 hemşire oluşturdu. Araştırma örneklemi ise kan transfüzyonu yapan ve araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden 141 hemşireden oluştu. Veriler Bilgi Formu ve Gözlem Formu kullanılarak toplandı. Verilerin SPSS 22.00 programı kullanılarak ortalama ve yüzdelik hesapları yapıldı. Hemşirelerin en fazla “Bir ünite taze donmuş plazmanın transfüzyonu ne kadar sürede tamamlanmalıdır?” (%93.6) sorusunu doğru yanıtladığı, en az “Aşağıdakilerden hangisi erken kan transfüzyonu reaksiyonlarından birisi değildir?” (%46.8) sorunu doğru yanıtladıkları belirlendi. Tüm hemşirelerin uygulama sırasında; kan transfüzyonuna uygun kanül seçtiği, eritrosit süspansiyonunda crossmatch testini, kan ürününün ve torbanın görünümünü, transfüzyon formundaki ürün bilgileri ile ürün etiketindeki bilgilerin uyumunu kontrol ettiği belirlendi. Hemşirelerin uygulama sırasında; transfüzyon öncesi el yıkama (%27.9), transfüzyon sebebini (%36.2) ve reaksiyonlarını (%37.6) hasta ve yakınlarına anlatma oranları ise düşük olarak bulundu. Hemşirelerin transfüzyon uygulama basamaklarını gerçekleştirme durumlarının yüksek olduğu belirlendi. Özellikle güncellenen uygulamalara ilişkin bilgi sorularının yanlış cevaplandığı belirlendi.

Amaç: Bu çalışmada Denetimli Serbestlik (DS) Polikliniğine başvuran Madde Kullanım Bozukluğu (MKB) tanılıbireylerde psikolojik acı, çocukluk çağı ruhsal travmaları, aleksitimi, dürtüsellik ve psikolojik dayanıklılığın intihargirişimi ile ilişkisinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır.Yöntem: Çalışma DS Polikliniğine başvuran 120 kişi ve sağlıklı kontrol ile yapılmıştır. Tüm katılımcılara; SosyoDemografik Veri Formu, Çocukluk Çağı Ruhsal Travma Ölçeği (CTQ-28), Toronto Aleksitimi Ölçeği (TAÖ), PsikolojikAcı Ölçeği (PAÖ), Barratt Dürtüsellik ölçeği (BDÖ), Psikolojik Dayanıklılık ölçeği (PDÖ) uygulanmıştır.Bulgular: İntihar girişimi olan hastaların PAÖ, TAÖ, BDÖ, CTQ-28 ölçek puanlarının daha yüksek olduğu tespitedilmiştir. İntihar girişimi riskini tahmin etmek için kurulan modelde (forward stepwise) PAÖ, TAÖ-A, PDÖ-sosyalyeterlilik ve BDÖ-toplam değişkenlerinin modele anlamlı katkı yaptığı bulunmuştur. Anlamlı olan dört değişkeninintihar riskindeki değişimin % 65,6’sını açıkladığı tespit edilmiştir.Sonuç: MKB’lerde psikolojik acı, aleksitimi, dürtüsellik ve çocukluk çağı travmalarının yüksek, psikolojikdayanıklılığın daha düşük olmasının intihar riskini değerlendirmede öngörürücü etkenlerdir. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between psychological pain, childhood mental trauma, alexithymia, impulsivity and psychological resilience and suicide attempts in individuals with substance use disorder (SUD) who applied to the Probation Outpatient Clinic. Method: The study was conducted with 120 individuals who applied to the probation outpatient clinic and healthy controls. Socio-Demographic Data Form, Childhood Psychological Trauma Scale (CTQ-28), Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS), Psychological Pain Scale (PP), Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS), Psychological Resilience Scale (PRS) were applied to all participants. Results: PP, TAS, BIS, CTQ-28 scale scores of patients with suicide attempt history were higher. In the forward stepwise model designed to predict the risk of suicide attempt, PRS, TAS-A, PRS-social competence and BIS-total scores contributed significantly to the model. It was determined that the four significant variables explained 65,6% of the variance in suicide risk. Conclusion: High psychological pain, alexithymia, impulsivity and childhood trauma and low psychological resilience in individuals with substance use disorder could be a predictor of suicide risk.

PURPOSE This study aimed at determining the effect of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) orientated anger management training on levels of anger rumination and impulsivity in people receiving forensic mental healthcare. Purpose The study was carried out with nurses working in a psychiatric clinic to examine their attitudes toward evidence-based practices and levels of professional self-concept. Design and methods This study was carried out using a descriptive and correlational search design. We used a Personal Information Form developed by the authors and Evidence-Based Nursing Attitude Scale (EBNAS) and Professional Self-Concept Scale for Clinical Nurses (PSCSCN) to obtain data. Percentages and averages, and the Pearson correlation coefficient was used for data analysis. Findings The mean scores of the total and subdimensions of EBNAS and PSCSCN were high for the participating nurses. A positive relationship was found between EBNAS and PSCSCN. Practice implications The positive attitude of the nurses toward evidence-based nursing is related to their high professional self-concept.

Purpose This study aimed to determine the relationship of the spiritual orientation of nurses with compassion fatigue, burnout, and compassion satisfaction of nurses working in two large hospitals. Design and methods This was a descriptive relational study conducted in Ataturk University Research Hospital between April and September 2016. Data were collected from 379 volunteer nurses using the convenience sampling method. A questionnaire, Professional Quality of Life Scale (ProQOL) R-IV and Spiritual Orientation Inventory (SOI) were used to collect the research data. Findings It was found that 55.7% of nurses were aged 18 to 27 years, 74.1% of nurses were females. The professional satisfaction of the nurses was high, with low rates of burnout and compassion fatigue. The spiritual orientation of the nurses was high according to the average SOI total score (98.83 ± 15.04). The mean score for compassion fatigue was 21.50 ± 8.69, and the mean score for compassion satisfaction was 34.10 ± 9.91. The mean score for burnout was 19.83 ± 6.39. Practice implications Nurses' compassion fatigue, burnout and compassion satisfaction should be evaluated regularly. The results revealed no correlation between spiritual orientation and these parameters. Studies investigating compassion fatigue among nurses should question the time nurses spend on themselves and leisure time.

INTRODUCTION: This study was conducted to examine the relationship between violent behaviors of forensic psychiatry patients and their adherence to treatment and level of hope. METHODS: This study used a descriptive and correlational research design. July 2020 October 2020 data of the study was collected and a total of 134 patients participated in the study. A personal information form, Morisky Adherence Scale, Taylor crime violence Rating Scale and Herth Hope Scale were used for data collection. RESULTS: It was determined that 40.3% of the patients participating in the study exhibited moderate violent behavior, 63.4% had low levels of adherence to treatment and hope levels were 40.14+-21.80. Objective The study was conducted to determine the association between ruminating anger and mental pain with suicidal ideation in patients diagnosed with major depression disorder. Methods The study with 156 patients diagnosed with major depressive disorder was carried out in a cross-sectional study design. Personal Information Form, Reflection on Anger Scale, Psychological Pain Scale and Beck Depression Scale were used. Results It was concluded that there was a statistically equal directional and linear relationship between the Meebunney and Beck depression scores of all patients diagnosed with a major depressive disorder and the total reflective anger score and its sub-dimensions. Suicidal attempts and psychological pain and depression levels were found to be effective in the increase in suicidal ideation in the patients with major depressive disorder. Conclusions Studies with larger samples are recommended to determine the factors that may pose a risk of suicidal ideation in patients diagnosed with major depressive disorder.

Amac: Bu calismada ogrenci hemsirelerin bakim odakli hemsire-hasta arasindaki iletisimine yonelik tutum ve davranislarinin belirlenmesi amaclanmistir.Gerec ve Yontem: Arastirma 14–31 Aralik 2015 tarihleri arasinda ikinci sinif hemsirelik ogrencileri ile tanimlayici olarak yapildi. Arastirmanin evrenini uc subede ogrenim goren ogrenciler, orneklemini ise arastirmaya katilmaya gonullu 176 ogrenci olusturdu. Verilerin toplanmasinda tanitici form ve “Bakim Odakli Hemsire Hasta Etkilesimi Olcegi” kullanildi. Veriler SPSS programi ile sayi, yuzde, ortalama, standart sapma, t-test ve KW testleri kullanilarak degerlendirildi.Bulgular: Ogrencilerin bakim odakli hemsire-hasta etkilesim olcek puan ortalamalari incelendiginde; “onemlilik” puan ortalamasi 295,48±49,64, yeterlilik puan ortalamasi 252,75±49,05, uygulanabilirlik puan ortalamasi 250,45±50,04 olarak belirlendi. Ogrencilerin olcegin onemlilik, yeterlilik ve uygulanabilirlik boyutundan aldigi en yuksek puanin “gereksinimler” alt boyutunun oldugu, en dusuk puanin ise “sorun cozme” alt boyutunun oldugu belirlendi. EgeUn###, Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of childhood psychopathologies in Turkey. Method: A nation-wide, randomly selected, representative population of 5830 children (6-13 years-old) enrolled as a 2nd,3rd or 4th grade student in 30 cities were evaluated for presence of a psychiatric or mental disorder by a Sociodemographic Form, Kiddie Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School Age Children-Present and Lifetime Version (K-SADS-PL), and DSM-IV-Based Screening Scale for Disruptive Behavior Disorders in Children and Adolescents scales. Impairment criterion was assessed via a 3 point-Likert scale by the parent and the teacher independently. Results: Overall prevalence of any psychopathology was 37.6% without impairment criterion, and 17.1% with impairment criterion. Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder was the most frequent diagnosis, followed by anxiety (19.5% and 16.7% without impairment, 12.4% and 5.3% with impairment, respectively). Lower education level and presence of a physical or psychiatric problem of the parents were independent predictors of any psychopathology of the offspring. Conclusion: This is the largest and most comprehensive epidemiological study to determine the prevalence of psychopathologies in children and adolescents in Turkey. Our results partly higher than, and partly comparable to previous national and international studies. It also contributes to the literature by determining the independent predictors of psychopathologies in this age group.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to determine the knowledge level of the community living in Erzurum on brucellosis and its prevention. Materials and Methods: This descriptive study was conducted in seven different villages of the city of Erzurum, where stock breeding is highly common, with 112 participants between April 5th and 10th April 5-10, 2014. For the gathering of data, a questionnaire consisting of questions aiming at determining the participants’ socio-demographic characteristics, involvement levels in stock breeding, and knowledge on brucellosis was used. The aim of the study was explained to all participants and all necessary offi cial permissions were obtained. Data were analyzed with the SPSS 15 Pack using frequencies test. Results: Results revealed that out of all the participants, 85.7% were involved in livestock care, 77.7% did both livestockcare and milking, 38.4% produced dairy products, and 79.5% did not use gloves when coming in contact with the animals’ bodily fluids, and that the consumption of unpasteurized milk anddairy products was quite high. Conclusion: It is crucial that the awareness of the community must be increased and necessary precautions should be taken in order to eradicate brucellosis.

Methods: This study was conducted as a part of the "The Epidemiology of Childhood Psychopathology in Turkey" (EPICPAT-T) Study, which was designed by the Turkish Association of Child and Adolescent Mental Health. The inclusion criterion was being a student between the second and fourth grades in the schools assigned as study centers. The assessment tools used were the K-SADS-PL, and a sociodemographic form that was designed by the authors. Impairment was assessed via a 3 point-Likert type scale independently rated by a parent and a teacher. Results: A total of 5842 participants were included in the analyses. The prevalence of affective disorders was 2.5 % without considering impairment and 1.6 % when impairment was taken into account. In our sample, the diagnosis of bipolar disorder was lacking, thus depressive disorders constituted all the cases. Among depressive disorders with impairment, major depressive disorder (MDD) (prevalence of 1.06%) was the most common, followed by dysthymia (prevalence of 0.2%), adjustment disorder with depressive features (prevalence of 0.17%), and depressive disorder-NOS (prevalence of 0.14%). There were no statistically significant gender differences for depression. Maternal psychopathology and paternal physical illness were predictors of affective disorders with pervasive impairment. Conclusion: MDD was the most common depressive disorder among Turkish children in this nationwide epidemiological study. This highlights the severe nature of depression and the importance of early interventions. Populations with maternal psychopathology and paternal physical illness may be the most appropriate targets for interventions to prevent and treat depression in children and adolescents.

Background: This study was performed to evaluate relationships between different demographic variables and hopelessness and depression in end of life Turkish cancer patients. This study was a descriptive survey with repeated measures conducted a university hospital in the city of Erzurum, in the eastern part of Turkey. The study enrolled 216 patients undergoing palliative treatment at the hospital. Materials and Methods: Data were collected using questionnaires (demographic questionnaire, Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS), Beck Depression Scale (BDS) and analyzed for demographic and disease-related variable effects on hopelessness and depression. Results: Th hopelessness score was significantly high in female, illiterate, married, and living in rural areas cancer patients. Both hopelessness and depression scores were significantly higher with longer disease duration, receiving radiotherapy treatment, and having metastatic disease. Conclusions: These findings demonstrate the coexistence of the physical, psychological, and cognitive problems faced by patients with cancer. Nurses can conduct brief screening assessments to identify patients with probable distress and and psychosocial support, as well as referrals to support services.

This study evaluates the associations among the symptoms of anxiety, depression, and disruptive behavioral disorders (DBD) in the context of their relationships with reactive-proactive aggression and anxiety sensitivity in children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The sample consisted of 342 treatment-naive children with ADHD. The severity of ADHD and DBD symptoms were assessed via parent- and teacher-rated inventories. Anxiety sensitivity, reactive-proactive aggression and severity of anxiety and depression symptoms of children were evaluated by self-report inventories. According to structural equation modeling, depression and anxiety scores had a relation with the DBD scores through reactive-proactive aggression. Results also showed a negative relation of the total scores of anxiety sensitivity on DBD scores, while conduct disorder scores had a positive relation with anxiety scores. This study suggests that examining the relations of reactive-proactive aggression and anxiety sensitivity with internalizing and externalizing disorders could be useful for understanding the link among these disorders in ADHD.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of reflexology on reducing dyspnea and fatigue in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).The study was conducted as a pretest-posttest experimental design. The population of the study consisted of 60 patients (30 in experimental group and 30 in control group). Patient Description Form, Baseline Dyspnea Index (BDI) and Visual Analogue Scale-Fatigue (VAS-F) were used to collect the data.The difference between pretest-posttest dyspnea and fatigue mean scores of patients in the experimental group was statistically significant (p.01). The difference between pretest-posttest dyspnea and fatigue mean scores of patients in the control group was statistically insignificant (p.05).It was determined that the reflexology reduced dyspnea and fatigue in patients with COPD.Complementary methods such as reflexology should be used with pharmacological methods to reduce dyspnea and fatigue of COPD patients.

Objective: This research was conducted to determine the breast cancer risk levels of women with and without previous mammography and their beliefs on breast cancer and mammography. Methods: The sample for this descriptive research consisted of women aged 50 years or older who were registered at the Family Health Center in the city center of Erzurum. The research was conducted with a total of 420 women with at least one mammography (210) and without mammography (210) who presented to the center on Wednesdays and Thursdays for any reason between 1 January 2010 and 1 January 2011. Research data were collected using the personal information “Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Form” accepted and recommended by the Turkish Ministry of Health, and the Champion’s Health Belief Model Scale for Breast Cancer and Screening (CHBMS). Data were evaluated using percentages and means with the t-test. Results: According to the research data, 89.8% of the women were found to be in the low risk group, 87.6% with and 91.9% without mammography. The aim of the current study was to translate the Hung Postpartum Stress Scale into Turkish and test the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the scale.The translation process of the Hung Postpartum Stress Scale into Turkish and the testing of reliability and validity of the newly developed scale on postpartum stress in women are described. The questionnaire was translated using a back-translation technique. Expert review of internal consistency reliability, content validity, factor analysis of construct validity and criterion-related validity were examined.Cronbach's alpha for the Turkish version of the Hung Postpartum Stress Scale was 0.931, indicating very good reliability. Factor analyses resulted in a two factor scale structure: maternal concerns and acceptability of the newborn by the family. Analyses also indicated good test-re-test reliability for the Turkish version of the Hung Postpartum Stress Scale (P0.01).The present study describes the design of a Turkish version of the Hung Postpartum Stress Scale. The newly developed scale proved to be reliable and valid and will be a valuable instrument for women's healthcare professionals.

In patients with AIDS, short-term survival has been related to body weight, body composition, and serum nutritional parameters, but their prognostic impact at earlier stages of the HIV infection is not known. With an individual follow-up period of 1,000 days, we investigated the prognostic relevance of electrical tissue conductivity [resistance R, reactance Xc, phase angle alpha, extracellular mass (ECM), body cell mass (BCM)] measured by bioelectrical impedance analysis, of the CD4+ cell count, and of serum parameters indicating malnutrition in 75 HIV-infected male patients at Walter Reed stages 3-5. After initial recording, 29 patients (38.7%) died from AIDS during this period. Among 12 parameters estimated with a semiparametric Cox regression model adjusted for therapy (pentamidine, azidothymidine), the phase angle alpha (parameter estimate: -1.043, 95% confidence interval of -0.61 to -1.47; p < or = 0.0001), the ECM/BCM ratio, Xc, BCM, serum cholesterol, number of CD4+ cells, and serum albumin had significant prognostic influence on survival, whereas age, body weight, body mass index, resistance, serum protein, and serum triglycerides did not. In a model with four covariates (CD4+ cells, phase angle, pentamidine, azidothymidine), the prognostic impact of the CD4+ cell count (parameter estimate: -0.549) was lower compared with the phase angle alpha (parameter estimate: -0.799; p < or = 0.0001) and did not gain statistical significance (p = 0.0626).
