Environmental pollutants have become a dreadful problem and burning issues for the present world irrespective of a country who is responsible for it. The objective of the study is to investigate impact of financial development and institutional quality on environmental degradation. The study is based on panel data for developing and developed countries over the time of 1996-2016. For the empirical analysis fixed effect and the random effect is carried out. Results show that institutional quality, economic growth, foreign direct investment, gross primary enrolment, and industrial growth have significant positive effect on corban emissions whereas financial development, population growth, trade openness, urban population and R&D expenditures have significant negative effect on corban emissions. One percent point increase in the index of institutional quality leads towards 0.006 percent points increase in the level of CO2 emissions. One percent point increase in the economic growth lead to increase the CO2 emissions by 0.39 percent points. One percent point increase in inflows of foreign direct investment increase the level of CO2 emissions by 0.016 percent points. One percent point increase in industrial growth leads to a 0.38 percent points increase in the level of CO2 emissions. Furthermore, one percent point increase in the index of financial development leads to 0.05 percent points decrease in the level of CO2 emissions. One percent point increase in urban population leads to almost 0.05 percent points fall in the level of CO2 emissions. Finally, one percent point rise in R&D expenditures leads to decrease in the level of CO2 emissions by 0.068 percent points. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Climbing Perch or its scientific name, Anabas testudineus is one of the freshwater fish belonging to the family of Anabantidae. It is widely distributed in ponds, swamps and estuaries in Asia. In this study, cholinesterase (ChE) was partially purified from the liver of A. testudineus through ion exchange chromatography. This purification method provided a recovery yield of 5.36% with a purification fold of 6.6. The optimum conditions for ChE assay were identified to be 2.5 mM of butyrylthiocholine iodide (BTC) with pH 8.0 in Tris-HCl buffer at 40°C. Substrate specificity profile also indicated that ChE favours BTC as substrate because it records the Bioindicator Cholinesterase (ChE) highest catalytic efficiency (Vmax/Km). Protein analysis through Native-PAGE showed that ion Inhibition Metal ions exchange chromatography is an effective method to partially purify ChE. Metal ion inhibition tests were conducted and mercury (Hg) was found to show the highest inhibition effect (87.30%) whereas lead (Pb) shows the lowest inhibition effect (28.01%). All these findings showed that partially purified ChE from the liver of A. testudineus is suitable to be used as a bioindicator to detect the presence of metal ions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study analyse the portrayal of Malala Yousafzai after her attempt of assassination by Taliban in the editorials of four Pakistani English newspapers, The News, Dawn, The Nation and Daily Times from October 10, 2012 to November 10, 2012. It also investigates how newspapers framed Taliban after attacking Malala. The study is theoretically linked with framing theory and conducts the comparative analysis of the editorials of four Pakistani leading newspapers. A total of 29 editorials (five in The News, six in Dawn, nine in Daily Times and nine in The Nation) were analysed. The findings depict that Malala was portrayed as a courageous girl who opposed the Taliban and their mindset against the girl's education in Swat valley. The findings also show that Taliban have a negative image in the Pakistani newspapers after their attack on Malala Yousafzai. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper examines the influence and role of political talk shows in generating political awareness amongst Pakistani educated youth. The researcher aims at measuring the youth's level of political awareness and involvement, and the extent to which these educated youth are persuaded by political talk shows about political affairs. The respondents involved in this study consist of the students of Government College University Faisalabad, Pakistan. The researcher selected 200 respondents from all departments of Government College University Faisalabad. The researcher applied non-probability sampling technique for data collection. Questionnaires were used as a tool for data collection. Findings showed that political talk shows influenced the youth and played a key role in providing political awareness. These findings also revealed that political talk shows have great deal of impacts on youngsters in helping them to get the knowledge about their basic social and political rights. La traduction du sacré fait souvent face aux limites des stratégies de la traduction. En effet, cette tâche est rendue ardue par les connotations et les symboliques dont est investi le texte religieux. Un cas d’espèce est constaté lors de la traduction du Coran et les essais de son interprétation, notamment au niveau de l’inimitabilité du style et de la rhétorique coranique. L’inimitabilité du Coran se décline à trois niveaux, en l’occurrence linguistique, thématique et stylistique. Ainsi, la difficulté de la traduction coranique réside dans le fait que même si celle-ci marque des points de fidélités, elle ne peut être l’équivalent parfait de la parole divine transcendantale mais en même temps matérialisée dans une langue humaine. Aussi, cet article se veut une réflexion sur le défi de la traduction face à l’inimitabilité plurielle du Coran et sur la nécessité de faire le deuil de l’équivalence parfaite pour que s’opère la négociation en activité traduisante. Abstract The translation of the sacred often faces the limitations of translation strategies. Indeed, this task is made difficult by the connotations and symbolism invested in the religious text. A case in point is found in the translation of the Qur'an and attempts at its interpretation, particularly in the inimitability of Quranic style and rhetoric. The inimitability of the Qur'an can be seen at three levels, namely linguistic, thematic and stylistic. Thus, the difficulty of Quranic translation lies in the fact that even if it scores points of fidelity, it cannot be the perfect equivalent of the transcendental divine word but at the same time materialized in a human language. Therefore, this article is a reflection on the challenge of translation in the face of the plural inimitability of the Qur'an and on the need to mourn the perfect equivalence in order to negotiate in translating activity.

It is a well established fact that time to market is a key factor in the success of a new product in this era of free trade. The target of reducing time to market can be achieved by accelerating the development process of a new product. This paper reports a case study of an ergonomically designed computer mouse in which the concepts of reverse engineering and rapid prototyping have been successfully demonstrated. The work ranges from scanning of selected physical object till virtual mold making. By employing the suggested methodology, Small and Medium Scale Industries can lower the development cost associated with a new product. INTRODUCTION: Sexual and reproductive health (SRH) communication is most likely to promote healthy sexual practices and to reduce risky sexual behavior among adolescents. Communication is the principal means for parents to transmit sexual values and knowledge to their children. This study aimed to assess adolescent-parent communication on SRH issues among high school students in Woldia town. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted from December 15-31, 2016. Systematic random sampling technique was used to select 693 students from Grades 9 and 10. Data were entered into Epi-info version 3.5.1 and analyzed by usingSPSS version 20. Logistic regression with OddsRatios(OR) and 95% Confidence intervals (CI) was used to identify the independent predictors of adolescent-parent communication. RESULTS: 674 students accepted to participate in this study giving a response rate of 97.3%.Only 205(30.4%) had discussed on two or more SRH topics with their parents. In logistic regression analyses, mothers who could read and write [AOR=2.0; 95% CI=1.3-3.1] and had diploma certificate [AOR=2.0; 95% CI=1.4-2.9] were more likely to discuss on SRH issues with their children. Adolescents who agreed on the importance of discussion on SRH issues [AOR=2.5; 95% CI=1.3-4.5], whoever gotSRH information [AOR=2.0; 95% CI=1.4-2.9] and those whoever had sexual intercourse [AOR=1.7; 95% CI=1.1-2.6] were more likely to discuss on different SRH issues with their parents. CONCLUSION: This study revealed that parent-adolescent communication on SRH issues was inadequate.Therefore, there is a need to equip and educate parents on different adolescents' SRH issues.

Le rétrécissement mitral (RM) rhumatismal demeure une valvulopathie fréquente dans les pays en voie de développement. Cependant, les pays industrialisés ont vu l'émergence ces dernières années de nouvelles étiologies de RM; notamment l'origine médicamenteuse et/ou toxique responsable de valvulopathies restrictives aussi bien sténosantes que régurgitantes. Pour cette raison, l'évaluation échocardiographique du RM et surtout, la définition de critères objectifs pour conclure au caractère serré du RM reste toujours d'actualité. Les objectifs du travail sont: évaluer l'existence ou non d'une corrélation directe entre le gradient moyen transmitral (GMT) et la sévérité du RM chez les patients porteurs d'un RM serré ou très serré (critère primaire) et analyser les différents paramètres qui conditionnent le gradient moyen transmitral (GMT) (Critère secondaire). Il s'agit d'une étude transversale monocentrique incluant tous les patients admis au service de Cardiologie du CHU Ibn Rochd de Casablanca pour un RM serré ou très serré, sur une période d'une année (Janvier 2014 à Décembre 2014). Nous avons analysés séparément deux groupes de patients : ceux avec un gradient moyen transmitral=10 mmHg (groupe 1) et ceux avec un gradient=10mmHg (groupe2). 50 patients porteurs d'un RM serré ou très serré ont été inclus. L'âge moyen de nos patients est de 41,7 ans avec prédominance féminine (sex ratio: 0,25). 64% de nos patients avaient un RM serré et 36% avaient un RM très serré. 52% (26 patients) avaient un GMT =10mmHg et 48% (24 patients) avaient un gradient moyen=10mmHg, ce qui suggère l'absence de corrélation directe entre la sévérité du RM et le GMT (coefficient de Pearson R: -0,137). Pour la dyspnée, 80% des patients du groupe 1 étaient dyspnéiques stade II de la NYHA et 70% des patients du groupe 2 étaient dyspnéiques stade III (41%) ou IV (29%) de la NYHA, ce qui signifie l'existence d'une corrélation significative entre le GMT et la sévérité de la dyspnée (R: 0,586 et p: 0,001). L'étude analytique de la fréquence cardiaque et la présence d'une décompensation cardiaque par rapport au gradient moyen transmitral a montré une corrélation significative. En effet, parmi les patients du groupe 1, 96% avaient une FC entre 60 et 100 bpm et aucun patient n'était en décompensation cardiaque. Dans le groupe 2,54% (13 patients) avaient une FC =100 bpm et 7 parmi eux (53%) étaient en décompensation cardiaque gauche. L'étude de la pression artérielle pulmonaire systolique dans les deux groupes de l'étude a révélé l'existence dans notre série d'une corrélation statistiquement significative (R : 0,518 et P : 0,001) entre la PAPS et le GMT. La régularité du rythme et la fonction ventriculaire droite n'étaient pas corrélées au GMT (R : 0,038 et R :-0,002 respectivement). Le gradient moyen transmitral est un bon indicateur de la tolérance du rétrécissement mitral, mais il reflète imparfaitement sa sévérité vue qu'il dépend de plusieurs paramètres hémodynamiques. D'authentiques rétrécissements mitraux très serrés peuvent exister avec des gradients moyens transmitraux =10 mm Hg, c'est pour cette raison que la valeur du GMT ne doit jamais être interprétée isolément.

La survenue d'un épanchement péricardique au cours d'une hypothyroïdie est fréquente. Ce fait justifie la réalisation d'une échocardiographie lors du diagnostic et du suivi évolutif des hypothyroïdies. Les signes de mauvaise tolérance de cet épanchement sont rares et la constitution d'une tamponnade péricardique n'est que très rarement rapportée. Ce travail se base sur l'étude rétrospective de quatre cas de tamponnade cardiaque révélant une hypothyroïdie primaire. L'échocardiographie a permis de faire le diagnostic immédiat de la tamponnade. Orienté par l'aspect clinique, le diagnostic d'hypothyroïdie a été confirmé par dosage biologique. Le traitement a été à base de drainage péricardique chirurgical et d'hormonothérapie progressive, l'évolution a été favorable avec disparition de l'épanchement péricardique. Certaines particularités physiopathologiques, l'intérêt de l'échocardiographie et du drainage péricardique chirurgical, tant au plan diagnostique qu'au plan thérapeutique sont soulignés.
