Introduction:: The Industrial Internet of Water Things (IIoWT) has recently emerged as a leading architecture for efficient water distribution in smart cities. Its primary purpose is to ensure high-quality drinking water for various institutions and households. However, existing IIoWT architecture has many challenges. One of the paramount challenges in achieving data standardization and data fusion across multiple monitoring institutions responsible for assessing water quality and quantity. Objective:: This paper introduces the Industrial Internet of Water Things System for Data Standardization based on Blockchain and Digital Twin Technology. The main objective of this study is to design a new IIoWT architecture where data standardization, interoperability, and data security among different water institutions must be met. Methods:: We devise the digital twin-enabled cross-platform environment using the Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol to achieve seamless interoperability in heterogeneous computing. In water management, we encounter different types of data from various sensors. Therefore, we propose a CNN-LSTM and blockchain data transactional (BCDT) scheme for processing valid data across different nodes. Results:: Through simulation results, we demonstrate that the proposed IIoWT architecture significantly reduces processing time while improving the accuracy of data standardization within the water distribution management system. Conclusion:: Overall, this paper presents a comprehensive approach to tackle the challenges of data standardization and security in the IIoWT architecture.

Abstract Detecting brain tumours is complex due to the natural variation in their location, shape, and intensity in images. While having accurate detection and segmentation of brain tumours would be beneficial, current methods still need to solve this problem despite the numerous available approaches. Precise analysis of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is crucial for detecting, segmenting, and classifying brain tumours in medical diagnostics. Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a vital component in medical diagnosis, and it requires precise, efficient, careful, efficient, and reliable image analysis techniques. The authors developed a Deep Learning (DL) fusion model to classify brain tumours reliably. Deep Learning models require large amounts of training data to achieve good results, so the researchers utilised data augmentation techniques to increase the dataset size for training models. VGG16, ResNet50, and convolutional deep belief networks networks extracted deep features from MRI images. Softmax was used as the classifier, and the training set was supplemented with intentionally created MRI images of brain tumours in addition to the genuine ones. The features of two DL models were combined in the proposed model to generate a fusion model, which significantly increased classification accuracy. An openly accessible dataset from the internet was used to test the model's performance, and the experimental results showed that the proposed fusion model achieved a classification accuracy of 98.98%. Finally, the results were compared with existing methods, and the proposed model outperformed them significantly.

Abstract A structured approach to managing reactive power is imperative within the context of power systems. Among the restructuring initiatives in the electrical sector, power systems have undergone delineation into three principal categories: generation, transmission, and distribution entities, each of which is overseen by an independent system operator. Notably, active power emerges as the predominant commodity transacted within the electrical market, with the autonomous grid operator assuming the responsibility of ensuring conducive conditions for the execution of energy contracts across the transmission infrastructure. Ancillary services, comprising essential frameworks for energy generation and delivery to end-users, encompass reactive power services pivotal in the regulation of bus voltage. Of particular significance among the array of ancillary services requisite in a competitive market milieu is the provision of adequate reactive power to uphold grid safety and voltage stability. A salient impediment to the realization of energy contracts lies in the inadequacy of reactive power within the grid, which poses potential risks to its operational safety and voltage equilibrium. The optimal allocation of the reactive power load is predicated upon presumptions of consistent outcomes within the active power market. Under this conceptual framework, generators are afforded continual compensation for the provision of reactive power indispensable for sustaining their active energy production endeavors.

The demand for renewable energy has significantly increased over the last decade with increased attention to the preservation of the environment and sustainable, optimal resource management. As traditional sources of energy production are depleting at an alarming rate and causing long-lasting environmental damage, it is essential to explore green and cost-effective methodologies for meeting energy demand. With each country having different geographical, political, social, and natural factors, the problem arises of which renewable energy should be utilized for optimal resource management. This multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) challenge is tackled by applying a dynamic fuzzy hypersoft set-based Method for the evaluation of currently deployed Renewable Energy systems and providing a decision support system for the installation of new ones based on the factors mentioned above for Turkey. As the installation of new renewable energy projects and the evaluation of old ones is significantly influenced by human judgment, it leaves great room for uncertainty primarily because of the psychological factors of the expert. The novel concept of Fuzzy Hypersoft Sets (FHSs) and their Entropy (EN) and TOPSIS-based operations are first discussed with reference to the problem at hand. The presented structure is superior to the ones in the literature by allowing access to data parameters as sub-parametric values while utilizing the versatility of Fuzzy structures to deal with uncertainty. The technique has great potential to serve as a potential decision support system in any setting. For now, hypothetical expert ratings are used to illustrate the working of the dynamic structure along with a sensitivity analysis to investigate the primary criterion weights in sorting. The evaluation of currently deployed renewable energy systems using our methodology revealed an average improvement in system performance compared to traditional methods. Furthermore, the decision support system for the installation of new projects based on geographical, political, social, and natural factors exhibited a potential increase in overall system efficiency. These numeric outcomes highlight the effectiveness and practical applicability of our approach in optimizing resource management and fostering sustainable energy practices.

These days, the disease among different plants has been increasing day by day. It is a very hard task for government institutions and farmers to collect data on plant diseases from different distributed lands among regions. Therefore, data collection, disease detection, and processing are the key issues for plants when they are suffering from healthy and unhealthy issues in different lands. This article presents edge-cloud remote sensing data-based plant disease detection by exploiting deep neural networks with transfer learning. The objective is to solve the aforementioned issues, such as data collection at a wide range, disease detection, and processing them with higher accuracy and time on different machines. We suggest transfer learning commutative fuzzy deep convolutional neural network (FCDCNN) schemes based on combinatorial optimization problems. The convex function optimizes the processing time and learning rate of data training on different edge and cloud nodes to collect more and more data from different plants from distributed lands. In the concave function, we predict the diseases among different plants, such as sugarcane, blueberry, cotton, and cherry with images, videos, and numeric values. The plant disease detection app uses edge nodes and remote satellite point cloud nodes to gather and train data using transfer learning and make predictions using fuzzy DCNN schemes that are more accurate and take less time to process. Simulation results show that FCDCNN obtained higher accuracy by 98% with less processing time 25% and trained with a higher ratio of data than existing schemes.

It is critical to use research methods to collect and regulate surface water to provide water while avoiding damage. Following accurate runoff prediction, principled planning for optimal runoff is implemented. In recent years, there has been an increase in the use of machine learning approaches to model rainfall-runoff. In this study, the accuracy of rainfall-runoff modeling approaches such as support vector machine (SVM), gene expression programming (GEP), wavelet-SVM (WSVM), and wavelet-GEP (WGEP) is evaluated. Python is used to run the simulation. The research area is the Yellow River Basin in central China, and in the west of the region, the Tang-Nai-Hai hydrometric station has been selected. The train state data ranges from 1950 to 2000, while the test state data ranges from 2000 to 2020. The analysis looks at two different types of rainy and non-rainy days. The WGEP simulation performed best, with a Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE) of 0.98, while the WSVM, GEP, and SVM simulations performed poorly, with NSEs of 0.94, 0.89, and 0.77, respectively. As a result, combining hybrid methods with wavelet improved simulation accuracy, which is now the highest for the WGEP method. For the past decade, there has been a significant increase in customer usage of public transport applications in smart cities. These applications rely on various services, such as communication and computation, provided by additional nodes within the smart city environment. However, these services are delivered by a diverse range of cloud computing-based servers that are widely spread and heterogeneous, leading to cybersecurity becoming a crucial challenge among these servers. Numerous machine-learning approaches have been proposed in the literature to address the cybersecurity challenges in heterogeneous transport applications within smart cities. However, the centralized security and scheduling strategies suggested so far have yet to produce optimal results for transport applications. This work aims to present a secure decentralized infrastructure for transporting data in fog cloud networks. This paper introduces Multi-Objectives Reinforcement Federated Learning Blockchain (MORFLB) for Transport Infrastructure. MORFLB aims to minimize processing and transfer delays while maximizing long-term rewards by identifying known and unknown attacks on remote sensing data in-vehicle applications. MORFLB incorporates multi-agent policies, proof-of-work hashing validation, and decentralized deep neural network training to achieve minimal processing and transfer delays. It comprises vehicle applications, decentralized fog, and cloud nodes based on blockchain reinforcement federated learning, which improves rewards through trial and error. The study formulates a combinatorial problem that minimizes and maximizes various factors for vehicle applications. The experimental results demonstrate that MORFLB effectively reduces processing and transfer delays while maximizing rewards compared to existing studies. It provides a promising solution to address the cybersecurity challenges in intelligent transport applications within smart cities. In conclusion, this paper presents MORFLB, a combination of different schemes that ensure the execution of transport data under their constraints and achieve optimal results with the suggested decentralized infrastructure based on blockchain technology.

This study uses machine learning (ML) models for a high-resolution prediction (0.1°×0.1°) of air fine particular matter (PM2.5) concentration, the most harmful to human health, from meteorological and soil data. Iraq was considered the study area to implement the method. Different lags and the changing patterns of four European Reanalysis (ERA5) meteorological variables, rainfall, mean temperature, wind speed and relative humidity, and one soil parameter, the soil moisture, were used to select the suitable set of predictors using a non-greedy algorithm known as simulated annealing (SA). The selected predictors were used to simulate the temporal and spatial variability of air PM2.5 concentration over Iraq during the early summer (May-July), the most polluted months, using three advanced ML models, extremely randomized trees (ERT), stochastic gradient descent backpropagation (SGD-BP) and long short-term memory (LSTM) integrated with Bayesian optimizer. The spatial distribution of the annual average PM2.5 revealed the population of the whole of Iraq is exposed to a pollution level above the standard limit. The changes in temperature and soil moisture and the mean wind speed and humidity of the month before the early summer can predict the temporal and spatial variability of PM2.5 over Iraq during May-July. Results revealed the higher performance of LSTM with normalized root-mean-square error and Kling-Gupta efficiency of 13.4% and 0.89, compared to 16.02% and 0.81 for SDG-BP and 17.9% and 0.74 for ERT. The LSTM could also reconstruct the observed spatial distribution of PM2.5 with MapCurve and Cramer's V values of 0.95 and 0.91, compared to 0.9 and 0.86 for SGD-BP and 0.83 and 0.76 for ERT. The study provided a methodology for forecasting spatial variability of PM2.5 concentration at high resolution during the peak pollution months from freely available data, which can be replicated in other regions for generating high-resolution PM2.5 forecasting maps.

In this study, energy harvesting using a two-layer piezoelectric sensor in non-linear single-mode mode was investigated, and the optimal performance conditions for power extraction were investigated. Non-linear equations or non-linear electric enthalpy proposal were obtained using Lagrange’s method. In addition, the model was identified with the help of perturbation methods and based on experimental results. The results indicate the presence of second-order damping and third-order stiffness with magnitudes of 2.8 × 106 and −3.9 × 1021. Finally, non-linear energy harvesting was investigated, and the electrical resistance for an optimal electrical power of 185.2 was obtained.

BackgroundThe societal challenges presented by fear related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic may present unique challenges for an individual's mental health. However, the moderating role of compassion in the relationship between fear of COVID-19 and mental health has not been well-studied. The present study aimed to explore the association between fear of COVID-19 and mental health, as well as test the buffering role of compassion in this relationship.MethodsThe participants in this study were 325 Iranian undergraduate students (228 females), aged 18–25 years, who completed questionnaires posted on social networks via a web-based platform.ResultsThe results showed that fear of COVID-19 was positively related with physical symptoms, social function, depressive symptoms, and anxiety symptoms. The results also showed that compassion was negatively associated with physical symptoms, social function, depressive symptoms, and anxiety symptoms. The interaction-moderation analysis revealed that compassion moderated the relationship between fear of COVID-19 and subscale of mental health.ConclusionResults highlight the important role of compassion in diminishing the effect of fear of COVID-19 on the mental health (physical symptoms, social function, depressive symptoms, and anxiety symptoms) of undergraduate students.

Machine learning (ML) methods were developed and optimized for description and understanding a physical separation process. Indeed, this work indicates application of machine learning technique for a real physical system and optimization of process parameters to achieve the target. A bunch of datasets were extracted from resources for physical adsorption process in removal of impurities from water as a case study to test the developed machine learning model. The case study process is adsorption process which has extensive application in science and engineering. The machine learning (ML) method was developed, and the parameters were optimized in order to get the best simulation’s performance for adsorption process. The data are used to correlate the adsorption capacity of the material to the adsorption parameters including dosage and solution pH. Randomized training and validation were performed to predict the process’s output, and great agreement was obtained between the predicted values and the observed values with R2 values greater than 0.9 for all cases of training and validation at the optimum conditions. Three different machine learning techniques including Random Forest (RF), Extra Tree (ET), and Gradient Boosting (GB) were employed for the adsorption data. Quantitatively, R2 scores of 0.958, 0.998, and 0.999 were obtained for RF, GB, and ET, respectively. It was indicated that GB and ET models performed almost the same and better than RF in prediction of adsorption data.

In this work, we developed artificial intelligence-based models for prediction and correlation of CO2 solubility in amino acid solutions for the purpose of CO2 capture. The models were used to correlate the process parameters to the CO2 loading in the solvent. Indeed, CO2 loading/solubility in the solvent was considered as the sole model’s output. The studied solvent in this work were potassium and sodium-based amino acid salt solutions. For the predictions, we tried three potential models, including Multi-layer Perceptron (MLP), Decision Tree (DT), and AdaBoost-DT. In order to discover the ideal hyperparameters for each model, we ran the method multiple times to find out the best model. R2 scores for all three models exceeded 0.9 after optimization confirming the great prediction capabilities for all models. AdaBoost-DT indicated the highest R2 Score of 0.998. With an R2 of 0.98, Decision Tree was the second most accurate one, followed by MLP with an R2 of 0.9.
