Abstract

Coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS) provides a unique probe for neutrino properties Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics. REactor neutrino LIquid xenon Coherent Scattering experiment (RELICS), a proposed reactor neutrino program using liquid xenon time projection chamber (LXeTPC) technology, aims to investigate the CEvNS process of antineutrinos off xenon atomic nuclei. In this work, the design of the experiment is studied and optimized based on Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. To achieve a sufficiently low energy threshold for CEvNS detection, an ionization-only analysis channel is adopted for RELICS. A high emission rate of delayed electrons after a big ionization signal is the major background, leading to an analysis threshold of 120 photo-electrons in the CEvNS search. The second largest background, nuclear recoils induced by cosmic-ray neutrons, is suppressed via a passive water shield. The physics potential of RELICS is explored with a 32 kg-yr exposure at a baseline of 25 m from a reactor core with a 3 GW thermal power. In an energy range of 120 to 240 PE, we expect 4902.4 CEvNS and 1318.4 background events. The sensitivity of RELICS to the weak mixing angle is investigated at a low momentum transfer. Our study shows that RELICS can further improve the constraints on the non-standard neutrino interaction (NSI) compared to the current best results.

Abstract

The doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) is connected to the distribution network as a distributed power source, which turns a radial single power supply system into a dual power supply system and changes the topology of the distribution network. When a short-circuit fault occurs in the distribution network, the short-circuit current of the distribution network will be affected by the access to wind power. Aimed at the problem that the short-circuit current is affected by the access capacity of the wind turbine and the location of the access point when DFIG is connected to the distribution network by distributed power sources and a three-phase short-circuit fault occurs at different points in the distribution network, a theoretical derivation and a simulation analysis are conducted by combining the control strategy of DFIG. First, relational expression of short-circuit fault current of the distribution network including wind power is theoretically derived, and the short-circuit current provided by the wind turbine is analyzed. Then, model predictive control is introduced to be compared with classical vector control to analyze the impact of different control strategies on the short-circuit current. The changes in access capacity and location are analyzed when a three-phase short-circuit fault occurs at different points in the distribution network, and the impact of DFIG on the short-circuit current of the distribution network is summarized.

Abstract

The phenomenon of wind abandoned caused by fault of transmission lines has occurred frequently. Since fault current output by wind turbine after fault may induce the frequency variation of the fundamental frequency, fault location based on the fundamental resistance is easily invalid. In order to locate fault accurately and rapidly after wind farm transmission line faults, a time‐domain‐based novel fault location method for transmission line of wind farm is introduced in this paper. The main idea of the proposed scheme is to discretise the distributed‐parameter model of transmission line that is given in the form of partial differential equations by using the finite‐difference time‐domain. In addition, the phase current and voltage at both ends of lines are regarded as boundary conditions. Then, the variational iteration method is utilised to calculate transmission line equations to obtain line length function. At last, fault location function is constructed by a minimised objective function. This paper builds wind power transmission line system simulation model and carries out simulation experiments on PSCAD/EMTDC. To verify the performance of the algorithm, several factors are taken into account for simulation including different fault distances, different fault types, different fault resistances, and different fault inception angles. Simulation results reveal the performance of the proposed method to locate fault for transmission lines connected to wind farm with high accuracy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

28. An Exponential Transform Based Dual-Layer Krylov Subspace Method for Computing Unstable Modes of Power Systems

Abstract

The detection and calculation of the rightmost modes are essential in the small signal stability assessment and control of power systems. This paper proposes an exponential transform based dual-layer Krylov subspace (DLKS) method for computing all unstable modes of power systems. Firstly, the exponential transform is introduced to map the unstable modes to the dominant modes outside the unit circle of the transformed spectrum. Then, based on the transformation, a Krylov decomposition is implemented to form the outer-layer Krylov subspace (OLKS) for solving the transformed dominant modes. In the process of forming the OLKS, the exponential matrix-vector multiplication (EMVM) needs to be solved. Next, combined with an accelerating convergence technique, the inner-layer Krylov subspace (ILKS) is formed to calculate the EMVM. Finally, four public source systems, namely the Xingo, Xingo6u, Juba5723 and Bauru5727 systems, are applied to verify the correctness and efficiency of the proposed method. Numerical experiments indicate that the proposed method can calculate all the unstable modes with high accuracy under the premise of ensuring calculation efficiency.

Abstract

Wind power is a mainstream of renewable energy power generation. With its increasing capacity in power grid, it is very urgent to study the technical requirements and adaptability of wind power integration. To ensure the safe and steady operation of network and improve the adaptive ability, investigations on wind power integration have been made by system operators of countries and the grid codes for wind farms have also been issued. Based on the adaptability of wind power integration, this paper reviews the international grid code technical requirements for wind farms, especially focus on the comparison study of low voltage ride through (LVRT), power control and operating adaptability, and confirms the formulating principle and specific index differences of international grid codes. Finally, the new issues that may be caused by large-scale wind power integration are explored and some suggestions are proposed from the perspective of mutual adaptability between wind farms and power system, which will make a certain reference value for further improving grid code technical requirements.

Abstract

In this paper, a study on frequency adaptability of permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) is carried out, the influence mechanism of the frequency changes on PMSG is revealed. It is proposed that setting the converter protection setting value and PLL parameters reasonably can ensure that the grid frequency change has little effect on the PMSG. The simulation of frequency adaptability of PMSG is realized on Matlab/Simulink, and the simulation results verify the correctness of the conclusion.

Abstract

The Hulunbuir short-tailed sheep (Ovis aries) is a breed native to China, in which the short-tail phenotype is the result of artificial and natural selection favoring a specific set of genetic mutations. Here, we analyzed the genetic differences between short-tail and normal-tail phenotypes at the genomic level. Selection signals were identified in genome-wide sequences. From 16 sheep, we identified 72,101,346 single nucleotide polymorphisms. Selection signals were detected based on the fixation index and heterozygosity. Seven genomic regions under putative selection were identified, and these regions contained nine genes. Among these genes, T was the strongest candidate as T is related to vertebral development. In T, a nonsynonymous mutation at c.G334T resulted in p.G112W substitution. We inferred that the c.G334T mutation in T leads to functional changes in Brachyury—encoded by this gene—resulting in the short-tail phenotype. Our findings provide a valuable insight into the development of the short-tail phenotype in sheep and other short-tailed animals.
