Abstract

Few-shot learning (FSL) aims to learn novel visual categories from very few samples, which is a challenging problem in real-world applications. Many methods of few-shot classification work well on general images to learn global representation. However, they can not deal with fine-grained categories well at the same time due to a lack of subtle and local information. We argue that localization is an efficient approach because it directly provides the discriminative regions, which is critical for both general classification and fine-grained classification in a low data regime. In this paper, we propose a Self-Attention Based Complementary Module (SAC Module) to fulfill the weakly-supervised object localization, and more importantly produce the activated masks for selecting discriminative deep descriptors for few-shot classification. Based on each selected deep descriptor, Semantic Alignment Module (SAM) calculates the semantic alignment distance between the query and support images to boost classification performance. Extensive experiments show our method outperforms the state-of-the-art methods on benchmark datasets under various settings, especially on the fine-grained few-shot tasks. Besides, our method achieves superior performance over previous methods when training the model on miniImageNet and evaluating it on the different datasets, demonstrating its superior generalization capacity. Abstract

There is no consensus on whether a gastroscopic biopsy is necessary during the emergency treatment of gastrointestinal (GI) diseases such as gastric ulcer bleeding. In this study, we examined the clinical utility and safety of an emergency gastroscopic biopsy for the assessment of gastric ulcer bleeding. We enrolled 150 patients with a single bleeding gastric ulcer after emergency gastroscopy (EG) from April 2020 to April 2022. The patients were randomly divided into the biopsy and no biopsy groups, and they were followed-up until June 2022 to examine whether recurrent gastric ulcer bleeding had occurred. Re-bleeding occurred in 15 out of 150 (10%) patients. We diagnosed malignancies in 17 (11.3%) patients and validated 14 (9.3%) of them during the initial gastroscopy procedure. Factors that could predict the occurrence of gastric ulcer re-bleeding with biopsy during EG included an absence of ischemic heart disease (odds ratio [OR] = 0.395, confidence interval [CI]: 0.24–0.65, p ≤.005), renal disease (OR = 1.74, CI: 0.77–1.59, p ≤.005), and using warfarin or oral anticoagulants (OR = 11.953, CI: 3.494–39.460, p ≤.005). No significant differences were observed in 60-day bleeding (p =.077) and the duration of hospitalization (p =.700) between the two groups. Patients undergoing biopsy during EG did not exhibit an increased risk of re-bleeding compared with those who did not undergo a biopsy. An early biopsy facilitates an early pathologic diagnosis, early clinical intervention, safe discharge of low-risk patients, and improved outcomes in high-risk patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Background Currently, the eradication rate of Helicobacter pylori ( H. pylori ) is markedly decreasing due to some antibiotics resistance, including clarithromycin, metronidazole, and levofloxacin. So, there is a considerable interest in evaluating new antibiotic combinations and regimens. Antofloxacin is a novel fluoroquinolone with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against Gram-negative bacilli including H. pylori . This study is designed to evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of 14-day antofloxacin-based bismuth quadruple therapy as a treatment regimen in Chinese patients with H. pylori infection. Methods We recruited 290 adult patients with H. pylori infection through upper endoscopy and histologic examination. Patients were randomly assigned to receive either antofloxacin-based bismuth quadruple therapy (ACLA therapy, antofloxacin 200 mg once daily, colloidal bismuth pectin 200 mg three times a day, lansoprazole 30 mg twice daily, and amoxicillin 1 g twice daily) for 14 days; or levofloxacin-based bismuth quadruple therapy (LCLA therapy, levofloxacin 500 mg once daily, colloidal bismuth pectin 200 mg three times a day, lansoprazole 30 mg twice daily, and amoxicillin 1 g twice daily) for 14 days. Eradication was assessed by 13 C-urea breath test after six-week treatment, the primary endpoint was the eradication rate by intention-to-treat (ITT) and per-protocol (PP) analyses. Results Allocated to ACLA were 145 (66F/70M, 42.1±12.8 years, 19.3% smokers, 13.1% alcohol drinker) and 145 (64F/81M, 41.1±12.2 years, 17.9% smokers, 12.4% alcohol drinker) patients to LCLA. 13 patients were lost to follow-up and 3 patients took < 80% of treatment drugs. The resistant rates for amoxicillin, levofloxacin and antofloxaci were 4.1% (12/290), 30.3% (44/145) and 0% (0/145), respectively. The ITT analysis showed eradication rates were 93.8% (136/145) in the ACLA group versus 86.2% (125/145) in the LCLA group ( p =0.031). The PP analysis showed eradication rates were 97.8% (136/139) in the ACLA group versus 92.6% (125/135) in the LCLA group ( p =0.000). The ACLA therapy exhibited lower rates of overall adverse events than LCLA therapy (33.8% vs. 42.0%), but the difference was not statistically significant ( p =0. 159). Conclusion Antofloxacin-based bismuth quadruple therapy might be considered as an alternative for the eradication of H. pylori treatment, since it attained a successful eradication rate of 90% which was superior than levofloxacin-based bismuth quadruple therapy. Both regimens were well tolerated and safe.

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a network-aware multicast scheme to supply instantaneous VOD (Video-on-Demand) services. Being different from traditional VOD systems, this system is implemented based on Peer-to-Peer Grid. By taking advantage of the large storage and the powerful processing capability in client-side devices, the user host serves as both a client and a non-dedicated video server. The system capability is enhanced due to the contribution of user hosts. Peer groups are formed as a collection of peers that share similar interest, and workload may be fairly apportioned among autonomous groups. In this VOD system, the adaptive video delivery mainly employs a new dynamic buffering algorithm and an improved video multicast strategy to achieve an optimal utilization of system resources, and the network-aware adaptation makes the system more robust. In cooperating with each other, the relevant servers can supply instantaneous video services for local users (1). Index Terms--Multicast, Network Measurement, Peer-to-Peer Grid, Video-on-Demand.

Abstract

Carbon materials are generally employed as supercapacitor electrodes due to their low- cost, high-chemical stability and environmental friendliness. However, the design of carbon structures with large surface area and controllable porous structure remains a daunt challenge. In this work, a three-dimensional (3D) hybrid aerogel with different contents of MoS2 nanosheets in 3D graphene aerogel (MoS2-GA) was synthesized through a facial hydrothermal process. The influences of MoS2 content on microstructure and subsequently on electrochemical properties of MoS2-GA are systematically investigated and an optimized mass ratio with MoS2: GA of 1:2 is chosen to achieve high mechanical robustness and outstanding electrochemical performance in the hybrid structure. Due to the large specific surface area, porous structure and continuous charge transfer network, such MoS2-GA electrodes exhibit high specific capacitance, good rate capability and excellent cyclic stability, showing great potential in large-scale and low-cost fabrication of high-performance supercapacitors. A hierarchical structure of MoS2 combined with highly conductive 3D graphene aerogel (GA) was proposed as high-performance supercapacitor electrodes since GA with interconnected graphene sheets acts as an ideal scaffold to exploit the high pseudocapacitance of MoS2 and improve the conductivity of the hybrid structure. As-prepared free-standing MoS2-GA electrodes with desirable sizes and high mechanical robustness show great promise as high-performance supercapacitor electrodes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The application of CMOS camera has become a trend and the driver is not yet supported in the newest Linux kernel with V4L2 structure, which provides kinds of driving interfaces for applications. This paper designs a compact method, complying with the V4L2 protocol, to implement the CMOS OV9650 device drive based on the S3C2440 development board with kernel Linux2.6.32. In this paper, the hardware structure, device driver design, key program implementation and transplantation are described in detail, and the realization of SCCB control bus and V4L2 structure on the micro2440 embedded platform are emphasized. Then the paper presents an application which uses the V4L2 to operate OV9650 camera and capture image. The experiments show that it can not only preview video image smoothly and catch figure with high resolution, but also be easily applied to other embedded applications.
