Abstract

The development of simple and effective tools for selective ratiometric detection of hypochlorite (ClO−) is one of the most important goals for elucidating the biofunction of ClO− in associated diseases. However, most developmental probes suffer from the notorious aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) effect that greatly limits their applications. Herein, we report on novel aggregation-induced emission dots (AIED) for ratiometric detection of ClO− via a co-precipitation strategy. The AIED nanoprobe displayed a ratiometric signal output, which was more promising to minimize the bad environmental factors and simultaneously avoided the ACQ effect. Notably, amphiphilic block copolymer endowed the nanoprobe with stable water dispersibility and easy modification. The as-prepared AIED probe exhibited high sensitivity (~ 89 nM), high selectivity, outstanding photostability, and prominent long-term fluorescence stability. Furthermore, the as-prepared AIED was applied for the visualized fluorescence detection of ClO− and further utilized to detect ClO− in real samples. We expect the nanoprobe to be an outstanding tool to understand ClO−-associated diseases.

Abstract

Abstract: C60 cluster films have been prepared by thermal evaporation in nitrogen or argon atmosphere. Surface morphologies and optical properties of C60 cluster films were studied with scanning electron microscope, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy and ellipsometry. The average diameter of the surface particles of C60 cluster films increases with pressure. The UV/VIS absorption spectrum of C60 films grown in N2 or Ar atmosphere are significantly different from that of C60 films grown in vacuum. The three feature peaks of C60 films have obvious red shift. The value of red shift of three feature peaks is 6.0, 19.0 and 20.5 nm for C60 films deposited in an Ar pressure of 16 kPa, and 8.0, 28.0 and 28.5 nm for C60 films deposited in an N2 pressure of 16 kPa. The value of red shift increases with increasing wavelength. The refractive index n varies from 1.49 to 1.42 for C60 films deposited in Ar atmosphere and from 1.46 to 1.07 for C60 films deposited in N2 atmosphere with gas pressure varying from 4 to 16 kPa. The bandgap of C60 films deposited in Ar and N2 atmosphere is 2.24 and 2.09 eV, respectively. They are larger than that of C60 films (2.02 eV) deposited in vacuum. These results indicate that the optical properties of C60 cluster films are related to the nature of gas and pressure during deposition. Abstract

Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) were prepared by continuous wave CO2 laser ablation without applying additional heat to the target. Transmission electron microscope and Raman spectrum were used to investigate the effect of laser power on the growth and diameter distribution of the tubes. The average diameter of single wall carbon nanotubes produced by CO2 laser increases with increasing laser power. We have presented the radial breathing mode of Raman spectrum of SWNTs prepared by using CO2 continuous laser vaporization in laser power from 500 to 850 W, and the Raman spectrum are also compared with those of single-walled carbon nanotubes produced by pulsed CO2 laser ablation of previous reports. SWNTs and bamboo-shaped carbon nanotubes were observed from web-like carbon soot in a lower laser power of 500 W.
