The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of induction chemotherapy combined with chrono-chemotherapy or conventional chemotherapy and intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) in locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma.150 patients with locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma were divided into two groups: chrono-chemotherapy group (n=75, receiving induction chemotherapy combined with chrono-chemotherapy and IMRT, and control group (n=75, receiving induction chemotherapy combined with conventional chemotherapy and IMRT. Besides, the levels of T lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood before and after treatment were compared, and the long-term survival and disease progression were followed up and recorded.After treatment, the short-term efficacy of patients was evaluated. The overall response rate was 94.7% (71/75) in chrono-chemotherapy group and 96.0% (72/75) in control group. Moreover, the levels of cluster of differentiation (CD)3+, CD4+, CD8+, CD4+/CD8+, CD16+CD56+ and CD19+ T cells in peripheral blood of patients at 6 months after treatment were significantly lower than those before treatment. The level of posttreatment CD16+CD56+ T cells in chrono-chemotherapy group was significantly higher than that in control group. Furthermore, the follow-up results showed that the 3-year overall survival (OS) was 73.3% and 69.3%, and the 3-year progression-free survival (PFS) was 60.0% and 62.7% in chrono-chemotherapy group and control group, respectively. Finally, Log-rank test showed no significant differences in OS and PFS between the two groups of patients.As a new treatment mode, chrono-chemotherapy combined with induction chemotherapy and IMRT can reduce the incidence rate and severity of treatment-related adverse reactions and improve immunosuppression without reducing clinical efficacy, which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.

The atom occupied sites, structures, tetragonal transformation and magnetic properties are studied by the first principles calculations. From least energy principle, the calculated equilibrium lattice parameter is 6.03 Å and 6.00 Å for Cu2MnAl type Ni2YIn (Y=Fe, Co) alloys, respectively. The Ni2YIn (Y=Fe, Co) alloys show steady martensitic phases at c/a=1.29 and c/a=1.36 based on the EBP’s method. Ni atoms and Y (Y=Fe, Co) contribute to the total magnetic moments, and keep parallel aligned in martensitic and austenitic phases. The Ni2YIn (Y=Fe, Co) alloys are the candidates for Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Alloys.

Electric-current induced electroresistance effect has been investigated in epitaxial Pr0.7Sr0.3MnO3thin film grown on the (100) SrTiO3substrate. A significant change ~38% in the ratio of the peak resistance at different currents with a current density up to ~3.3×103A/cm2was achieved. Such an ER effect is more remarkable in comparing with that reported in other manganite oxides with similar current densities. Compared with that of the as-grown films, the electroresistance of the post-annealed films is smaller, while the ER effect (~14%) is obtained. Although the nature behind such an electroresistance effect has not been well understood, the field tunability of the metal/insulator transition and the electroresistance effect induced by currents might be of potential for various applications such as filed effect devices.

The structure and magnetostriction have been investigated for PrxTb1-xFe1.9Ti0.1 alloys by means of the X-ray diffraction phase analysis, vibrating sample magnetometer, and standard strain gauge technique. Comparing the structure of bulk and annealed samples, it can be found that the annealing treatment is of benefit to the formation of single phase with MgCu2-type crystal structure when x0.3. The magnetization at the maximal magnetic field decreases rapidly with increasing Pr content. The magnetostriction for Pr0.2Tb0.8Fe1.9Ti0.1 annealed sample at 900kA/m is 1733ppm. The magnetostriction for PrxTb1-xFe1.9Ti0.1 alloys at 900kA/m also decreases with increasing Pr content.
