Introduction: About 84% of the population have had some low back symptom during their lifetime; where 23% of cases become chronic pain. It is observed that in around 85% of cases of chronic low back pain, there is no specific cause or diagnosis, where it is referred to as chronic nonspecific low back pain. Given its disabling potential, the comprehensive assessment, attitudes and beliefs of the physiotherapist in clinical management become essential to the prognosis. Objective: To evaluate the relationship between sociodemographic/socioeducational and work profile and the attitudes and beliefs of physiotherapists in the management of chronic nonspecific low back pain treatment. Methods: This was a cross-sectional quantitative study. For data collection, two questionnaires were used, one referring to the sociodemographic/socioeducational profile information and the other referring to attitudes and beliefs determined by the Pain Attitudes and Beliefs Scale for Physiotherapists. Data were analyzed using the BioEstat 5.0 program using descriptive statistics, t-test and Pearson correlation (p < 0.05). Results: Fifty-seven physical therapists were analyzed, where most were women (61.4%), had specialization (56.2%), worked in private clinics (63.2%) and used specific methods in the management of chronic nonspecific low back pain (84.2%). Biomedical belief was predominant (70.2%) and showed a significant relationship with age (p = 0.0006). Conclusion: The biomedical model is still predominantly used, which is related to the age of the professionals surveyed. Resumo Introdução: Cerca de 84% da população já teve algum sintoma lombar durante a vida e em 23% destes a dor tornou-se crônica. Observa-se que cerca de 85% das dores lombares crônicas não possuem causa ou diagnóstico específico, sendo denominadas de dor lombar crônica inespecífica (DLCI). Visto o seu potencial incapacitante, a avaliação integral, atitudes e crenças do fisioterapeuta no manejo clínico tornam-se fundamentais para o prognóstico. Objetivo: Testar a relação entre o perfil sociodemográfico/socioeducacional e laboral e as atitudes e crenças de fisioterapeutas no manejo do tratamento da DLCI. Métodos: Trata-se de uma pesquisa transversal e quantitativa. Para a coleta de dados foram utilizados dois questionários, um referente às informações de perfil sociodemográfico/socioeducacional e outro inerente às atitudes e crenças determinadas pelo Pain Attitudes and Beliefs Scale for Physiotherapists. Os dados foram analisados pelo programa BioEstat 5.0, utilizando estatística descritiva, teste t e correlação de Pearson (p < 0,05). Resultados: Dos 57 fisioterapeutas analisados, a maioria eram mulheres (61,4%), possuíam especialização (56,2%), atuavam em clínicas privadas (63,2%) e utilizavam métodos específicos no manejo da DLCI (84,2%). A crença biomédica mostrou-se predominante (70,2%) e apresentou relação significativa com a idade (p = 0,0006). Conclusão: Ainda é predominantemente empregado o modelo biomédico, que apresenta relação com a idade dos profissionais pesquisados.

Objective: To evaluate the impact of an educational intervention on the attitudes of Nursing students towards users of psychoactive substances (excluding alcohol and tobacco) and their perceptions about the religious and spiritual care offered within the health services. Method: Quasi-experimental study. We applied a questionnaire before and one month after an intervention about the comprehensive care of substance users, containing: sociodemographic information, knowledge, the Treatment Spirituality/Religiosity Scale, and the Drug and Drug Problems Perceptions Questionnaire. For the analyses, we employed the paired Student’s t-test and Pearson’s Coefficient. Results: 62 students participated in this study. After the intervention, there was improvement in the students’ attitudes towards the substance users, but not regarding the perception they already had about the importance of offering religious and spiritual care within the services. Conclusion: We verified the effectiveness of the educational intervention on the improvement of attitudes concerning the care of substance users, yet we point out that the students did not show changes in their perception about the inclusion of the religious and spiritual aspects in the care dedicated to this population. RESUMEN Objetivo: Evaluar el impacto de una intervención educativa acerca de las actitudes de estudiantes de Enfermería ante el usuario de sustancias psicoactivas (excluyéndose el alcohol y el tabaco) y las percepciones acerca del cuidado religioso y espiritual ofrecido en los servicios sanitarios. Método: estudio cuasi-experimental. Se aplicó un cuestionario antes y un mes después de la realización de una intervención acerca del cuidado integral con el adicto a sustancias, conteniendo: informaciones sociodemográficas, conocimientos, Treatment Spirituality/Religiosity Scale y el Drug Problems Perceptions Questionnaire. Para los análisis, se utilizó la prueba de t de Student pareada y el coeficiente de Pearson. Resultados: Participaron 62 estudiantes. Después de la aplicación de la intervención hubo mejora de las actitudes de los estudiantes ante el adicto a sustancias, pero no con relación a la percepción que ya tenían sobre la importancia de la oferta de cuidado religioso y espiritual en los servicios. Conclusión: Se verificó la efectividad de la intervención educativa en la mejora de las actitudes con relación al cuidado del adicto a sustancias, pero se llama la atención al hecho de que los estudiantes no presentaron cambios en su percepción sobre la inclusión de los aspectos religiosos y espirituales en el cuidado dedicado a dicha población. RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar o impacto de uma intervenção educativa sobre as atitudes de estudantes de Enfermagem frente ao usuário de substâncias psicoativas (excluindo-se álcool e tabaco) e as percepções sobre o cuidado religioso e espiritual oferecido nos serviços de saúde. Método: estudo quase-experimental. Aplicou-se um questionário antes e 1 mês após a realização de uma intervenção sobre cuidado integral ao usuário de substâncias, contendo: informações sociodemográficas, conhecimentos, Treatment Spirituality/Religiosity Scale e o Drug and Drug Problems Perceptions Questionnaire. Para as análises, utilizou-se do teste t de Student pareado e o coeficiente de Pearson. Resultados: Participaram 62 estudantes. Depois da aplicação da intervenção houve melhora das atitudes dos estudantes diante do usuário de substâncias, mas não em relação à percepção que já tinham sobre a importância da oferta de cuidado religioso e espiritual nos serviços. Conclusão: Verificou-se efetividade da intervenção educativa na melhora das atitudes em relação ao cuidado do usuário de substâncias, mas se alerta ao fato de que os estudantes não apresentaram mudanças em sua percepção sobre a inclusão dos aspectos religiosos e espirituais no cuidado dedicado a essa população.

OBJETIVO: Conhecer características e dificuldades de acesso aos pacientes selecionados para cirurgia de transplante de córnea em projetos comunitários realizados em um hospital universitário de São Paulo. MÉTODOS: Foi aplicado um questionário a pacientes em duas campanhas realizadas pelo hospital.Analisaram-se as seguintes variáveis: sexo, idade, renda mensal, escolaridade, número de oftalmologistas previamente consultados, acuidade visual corrigida no melhor olho, diagnóstico, indicação prévia, conhecimento sobre o procedimento, doença ocular, sobre a existência de limitações no estilo de vida, possíveis complicações após a cirurgia e expectativa de reabilitação, dentre outras. RESULTADOS: Dos 99 pacientes entrevistados, 57,8% havia abandonado o trabalho devido à dificuldade visual e dependiam da ajuda de terceiros para atividades cotidianas. Dos 90 pacientes que já apresentavam indicação prévia de transplante de córnea (91,0%), metade sequer havia conseguido ingressar na lista de bancos de olhos. Dos pacientes com indicação prévia de transplante, 18,9% desconheciam qual era o seu problema ocular, 27,8% não sabiam o que era o procedimento, 18,7% não estavam cientes de prováveis complicações per e pós-operatórias e 32,2% ignoravam a existência de limitações no estilo de vida após a cirurgia. CONCLUSÃO: Foi observado desconhecimento dos pacientes sobre a sua condição e tratamento. É importante salientar que para um resultado cirúrgico satisfatório há necessidade de uma seleção adequada de pacientes e orientação sobre seu problema ocular, a cirurgia proposta, cuidados e riscos per e pós-operatórios, e perspectivas de reabilitação visual. PURPOSE: To know characteristics and difficulties to access patients' treatment selected to keratoplasty in community projects carried out in a university hospital in São Paulo. METHODS: A questionnaire was applied on patients in two keratoplasty campaigns performed by the hospital. Was analyzed the following variables: gender, age, income, education, number of previous ophthalmologists 'appointment, visual acuity in the better eye, diagnosis, indication for keratoplasty, knowledge about it, the eye disease and the existence of limitations on lifestyle and possible complications after surgery, expectation of rehabilitation, among others. RESULTS: Most of the 99 patients interviewed (57.8%) had left the job because of visual difficulty and dependent on outside help for everyday activities. From the 90 patients who already had early indication of a keratoplasty (91.0%), half of them had not even managed to join the list of eye banks. From the patients with previous indication for keratoplasty, 18.9% didn't know what was their eye problem, 27.8% didn't know what was keratoplasty, 18.7% were not aware of possible complications during and after the surgery and 32, 2% ignored the existence of limitations in lifestyle after surgery. CONCLUSION: The patients' unknowledge about their condition and treatment is clear. It is extremely important to emphasize that to obtain a satisfactory surgical result, there is a need of an appropriate patient selection and guidance about their eye problem, the proposed surgery, care and risk per and post operative as well as the visual rehabilitation perspective.
