Background: One of the most essential needs of all people is providing, enhancing the health level, and adopting a lifestyle that promotes health. It is the most significant and practical way to keep older persons' wellbeing and promote healthy aging. Aim: To investigate the effects of health promotion program on healthy aging, wellbeing and health promoting behaviour among community dwelling older adults. Methods: Four randomly selected health centers out of a total of 38 were used for the study, which was carried out in the Mansoura District within the Dakahlia governorate. Based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, a purposive sample of 94 older adults from 110 older persons enrolled in the above-mentioned setting was selected, 75 older adults were included in the final analysis. Tools: Four tools were used; Structured Interview Questionnaire, Healthy Aging Instrument (HAI), Modified Wellbeing Assessment Tool, and Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile-II Questionnaire (HPLP-II). Results: All healthy aging factors, wellbeing domains, and health promoting behaviour dimensions of the study group showed significant improvement after the program implementation (p <0.0001). This improvement appears in young old married female, with university education, who still working, had enough income, living with family, and with good health status. Also, highly statistically significant positive correlations (p<0.001) were found between wellbeing, healthy aging, and health promoting behaviour in the study group. Conclusion: Health promotion program has a positive effect on older adults' healthy aging, wellbeing, and health promoting behaviour. Recommendations: To promote older adults' health and decrease the prevalence of chronic illnesses and multiple complications due to lack of healthy lifestyle, it is recommended to implement health promotion lifestyle programs. Abstract Background Migration is a phenomenon worldwide, with older migrants, particularly those with fewer socioeconomic resources, having an increased risk of developing adverse cognitive and health outcomes and social isolation. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to validate interventions that promote healthy aging in this population. Previous studies have shown a positive impact of mindfulness based-stress reduction (MBSR) on outcomes such as cognition and sleep. However, only a few studies verified its potential in older adults, especially with vulnerable populations such as migrants. This article presents the protocol of the MEDITAGING study, which is the first to investigate the MBSR effects in migrants aged ≥55 in comparison to a health promotion program. Methods MEDITAGING is a two-arm randomized, double-blinded, controlled study, which will include older Portuguese-speaking migrants (n = 90). Participants are randomized to the MBSR or a health promotion program. Both interventions are conducted in groups over a total of 8 weeks, incorporating weekly meetings, an additional 4-hour class, and extra at-home tasks. The health promotion program has the same structure as the MBSR but comprises different activities related to dementia prevention, healthy habits, cognitive stimulation, sleeping, nutrition, watercolor painting, and physical activity. The assessment of executive functioning, physiological stress measures, self-reported questionnaires, and qualitative interviews are conducted at baseline, after 8 weeks (post-intervention), and at a follow-up session (from one to 3 months thereafter). Analyzes will be conducted using a modified intention-to-treat approach (all participants with at least 3 days of participation in the group-sessions and one post-intervention observation). Discussion This study will test effects of a mindfulness-based intervention against an active control condition in older adult migrants, which few studies have addressed. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the 8-week, community health worker (CHW)–led La Vida Buena childhood obesity program among Latino children 5 to 8 years old in a rural county along the U.S.-Mexico border. Methods: This quasi-experimental study used a community-based participatory research approach to compare the effectiveness of the La Vida Buena (The Good Life) curriculum as compared with a single educational session. We took anthropomorphic measures and administered parent-reported nutrition and physical activity surveys at baseline, 3 months, and 6 months. The study took place between 2017 and 2020 in Santa Cruz County, Arizona. Results: Change in body mass index (BMI) z-score was negligible for both groups. The parent-reported behavior indicated a shift toward healthier family behaviors and environment in the intervention group. Implications for Practice: This study adds to the growing literature of CHW-led childhood obesity interventions. The engagement of the CHWs in all aspects of the intervention helped to facilitate important behavior changes. Future interventions should emphasize health and wellness rather than BMI z-score and include community, socioeconomic, and systems-level interventions to promote healthy environments. Retirement is a major life transition in adulthood that can cause vulnerability in individuals and their families. REATIVA is a face-to-face health intervention program that aims to promote the perception of self-efficacy and facilitate the transition to retirement of individuals and families. This article presents the efficiency of this program. A quasi-experimental study was conducted on 56 new retirees and families enrolled in the Portuguese National Health Service. The efficiency of the program was evaluated with the General Self-Efficacy (GSE) scale, which assesses self-efficacy, and the Retirement Adaptation Perception (EPFAR) scale, which assesses the perception of adaptation to retirement. The data were processed in IBM SPSS 27 software. An average positive change was found regarding the GSE and EPFAR in all participants of the REATIVA program. Notably, the MANOVA test with Greenhouse–Geisser correction revealed a significant effect of the program over time in the EPFAR scale (F = 17.405, p = 0.001; η2 = 0.554; PO = 0.982). The REATIVA program was found to be efficient in the promotion of individual and family health during the transition to retirement as an active and healthy aging process. New methodologies and intervention strategies were identified that could improve the efficacy of the program; namely, the involvement of more family members and using a blended approach.

Background: The availability of COVID-19 vaccines worldwide necessitates measuring healthcare workers' (HCWs') willingness to recommend or receive these vaccines. Therefore, we conducted a local study in Jordan to assess HCWs' willingness to recommend or receive a third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and the predictors of such a decision. A cross-sectional study investigated Jordanian HCWs' willingness regarding a third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine using a self-administered online questionnaire through WhatsApp, a mobile phone application. A total of 300 HCWs participated in the current study. Of these HCWs, 65.3% were physicians, 25.3% were nurses, and 9.3% were pharmacists. HCWs' overall willingness regarding a third vaccine dose was 68.4% (49.4% certainly and 19.0% probably), whereas the overall willingness of HCWs to recommend a third dose to their patients was 73.3% (49.0% certainly and 24.3% probably). Males had significantly higher willingness than females (82.1% vs. 60.1%, p < 0.05). Physicians reported more willingness than nurses and pharmacists. HCWs' willingness was not significantly affected by direct contact with a patient infected with COVID-19 or by a personal history of COVID-19 infection. Only 31% of HCWs were certainly willing to recommend the vaccine to their patients with chronic diseases, and only 28% of the participants were certainly willing to recommend it to people aged 65 or older. HCWs' willingness to receive a third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine is limited in Jordan. This has affected their certainty in recommending this vaccine to their patients or people older than 60. The present study revealed that lower perceived supervisor support for health significantly increased the prevalence of high presenteeism 1 year later. Increasing perceived supervisor support for health is important to reduce the occurrence of presenteeism in companies. Objective: We investigated how perceived supervisor support for health (PSSH) affects the occurrence of presenteeism 1 year later. Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted using a questionnaire survey. In total, 10,718 nonmanagerial employees in seven companies in Japan were included in the analyses. We conducted multilevel logistic regression analyses nested by company to estimate the odds ratios (ORs) of the relationship between PSSH at baseline and high presenteeism at follow-up. Results: The ORs for high presenteeism at follow-up were significantly higher for high (OR, 1.31; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.14 to 1.51), low (OR, 1.63; 95% CI, 1.37 to 1.94), and very low PSSH (OR, 2.42; 95% CI, 1.88 to 3.12), compared with very high PSSH. Conclusions: Lower PSSH can induce high presenteeism, suggesting that increasing PSSH is important to reduce the occurrence of presenteeism in companies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We investigated the association between participation in a health promotion program and changes in migrants’ mental health, and if socio-demographic factors and length of time in the new home country, Sweden, influenced a potential association. Methods A five-week health promotion program named ‘Hälsostöd’ [Health Support], led by community health workers, was offered to migrants, primarily asylum seekers and newly arrived immigrants (N = 202). The framework for the program was salutogenic psycho-education, which focused on health effects of migration experiences, lifestyle and health, and the health care system. Mental health was measured at the start and end of the program. We analysed this follow up by using the recommended clinical cut off (i.e. > 11 of maximum 36, with higher scores indicating possible mental illness) in the 12- item version of the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ12). Chi Square test was used to analyse statistical significance of changes, and multinomial logistic regression to analyse associations to sociodemographic factors and length of stay in Sweden. Results The number of participants scoring above the clinical cut off after participation in the program (N = 79, 39.1%) was lower compared to the corresponding number before participation (N = 111, 55.0%), Chi Square = 10.17, p

The purpose of this study is to analyze the structural relationship between emotional labor, job stress, perceived organizational support and job satisfaction for the health promotion program personnel. The subjects were 126 in charge of the health promotion program. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 23.0 for the independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and structural equation modeling. There were significant differences in emotional labor by age and marital status (p<.05), job stress by religion (p<.01) and job satisfaction by career, religion and marital status (p<.01). The indirect effect of emotional labor on job satisfaction was -0.315, and no direct effect was found. The indirect effect of job stress on job satisfaction was -0.288, and the direct effect was -0.228. The direct effect of perceived organizational support on job satisfaction was –0.507. These results can be used as baseline data to develop alternatives and intervention programs to enhance job satisfaction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract Background Workplace Health Promotion Programs (WHPP) have been shown to be an efficient way of improving workers’ health. These programs can be incorporated in the worker’s daily schedule and improve their productivity at work. Improving employees’ health also benefits the employers by increasing their return on investment and lowering healthcare costs. The Activate Your Health program, created by Capsana in 2015, is a WHPP targeting multiple lifestyle habits for a three-year period. This WHPP includes tailored web-based interventions and the support of different health professionals throughout the years. We hypothesize that this approach will yield long-term lifestyle changes. The objective of the current paper is to describe the Activate Your Health program’s design. Methods/design Eleven companies are taking part in this WHPP and had to choose among five different options of this program and all their employees were encouraged to participate. Each option differs by the number and type of interventions included. The limited option, which is considered the control group, only consists in completing a questionnaire regarding their health status, lifestyle habits and behaviors. On the other end, the extensive option receives a combination of multiple interventions: online menus, health challenges, support in creating a healthy work environment, coaching by health professionals (nurse, nutritionist, and kinesiologist), health screening and flexibility assessment, online resources, social health platform, and activity tracking. The remaining options are in between these options and vary by the amount of intervention. Baseline data are already gathered; two other data collection periods will take place after one and 2 years into the program. The primary outcomes of the current program are physical activity and fitness measures, nutritional data, smoking habits, stress and intention to change. Discussion The Activate Your Health program will allow us to compare which combinations of interventions are the most effective. It is expected that the extensive option will be the most advantageous to improve lifestyle habits. The results will indicate the strength and weakness of each intervention and how it could be improved. Background: Promoting and sustaining the knowledge of nurses in primary health care centers about preventing transmission of communicable diseases intended to enable the nurse to develop health trends in people, building healthy behavior, and enable the people to understand health messages to their families about preventing the spread of communicable diseases. Objective: The study aim to evaluate the nurses' knowledge about preventing transmission of Communicable disease at Primary Health Care Centers, and to construction of educational program. Methodology: A quasi-experimental design has been carried out from (19) Primary Health Care Centers started from the 17th, November 2019 to 12th, April 2021. Select purposive sample comprised of 50 nurses is divided into two groups equally, study group were exposed to the nursing educational program, and control group. Constructed the study instrument by researcher. Questionnaire consisted of (56) questions to evaluate the nurses' knowledge about preventing transmission of Communicable diseases. The validity of the instrument obtained by 15 experts panel while reliability of instrument is determined using test and retest approach. The analysis of data by application of description statistic (frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean and standard deviations) and inferential statistical (ANOVA, t-test and chi-square test) Results: The study reveal that the majority of nurses had deficit level of knowledge of evaluation at pre -test while control group were moderate level of knowledge about preventing transmission of Communicable disease in Health promotion and Immunization units, while for post-test1,post-test2 presented improve in study group for knowledge. Prenatal classes in Indonesia are government's effort to improve the knowledge and skills of pregnant women. Several factors influence the participation of pregnant women in these classes. This research aimed to identify the factors that correlate with pregnant women's participation in prenatal classes in several rural villages of Magetan Regency, Indonesia. This observational analytical research was performed quantitatively using a cross-sectional design. Seventy-eight pregnant women meeting the research criteria were included in this study. Data were collected through a questionnaire that has been tested through validity and reliability tests. A binary logistic regression was employed to conduct a statistical analysis. Results showed that supports from family (OR 32.40, p-value < 0.01, 95% CI 4.55-230.64) and from health workers (OR 22.53, p-value < 0.001, 95% CI 3.96-128.19) were significantly associated with the respondent's participation in prenatal classes after controlling the potential confounding factors such as knowledge, attitudes and information availability. Length of stay in Sweden was trending, with participants with longer stay being more likely to have possible mental illness.Conclusion: We conclude that psycho-educative programs, similar to 'Hälsostöd', have potential for promoting asylum seekers' and newly arrived immigrants' mental health as the evaluation showed a considerable number of positive changes in participants. The result suggests the importance of offering immigrants health promotive programs in close connection with arrival to the new home country. The purpose of this research was to study the effectiveness of the elderly mental health care literacy promotion program of village health volunteers. This research used two quasi-experimental research, measured before and after the experiment. The subjects were village health volunteers of 2 municipality. PathumThani municipality consists of 60 experimental groups and 60 ThaKhong municipality in the compare group. The instrument used in this study was a test on the level of the mental health literacy for the elderly, composed of 4 sections, namely access to information, understanding of decision making, and applying. Data analysis were conducted by comparing the mean and proportion statistics test. The results found that 1) the village health volunteers in the experimental group after joining the program had an average score of mental health literacy for older people (x̅ =6 3 .7 5 , SD=9 .9 8 ) higher than the compare group (x̅ =3 9 .7, SD=8 .3 9 , p < 0.001). 2) The village health volunteers in the experimental group after had the average scores of mental health literacy for older people (x̅ =63.75, SD=9.98) higher than the before joining the program (x̅ =41.65, SD=9.37, p <0.001). However, in the experimental group, there was a change in the level of mental health literacy of the elderly from an insufficient level to a sufficient level. Therefore, the elderly mental health literacy program of village health volunteers can be used as a tool to increase the level of mental health literacy in the village health volunteers for to care the elderly people in the community. The current study aimed to assess the effect of health promotion program about sun protection among outdoor workers in Helwan University. Design: A quasi-experimental design was used. Setting: This study was conducted at the Landscape and Campus outside Cleaning in Helwan University.Sample: A purposive sample of 90 workers was recruited.Tools: An interview questionnaire was used to assess workers’ knowledge regarding effects of the sun and sun care issues, their attitudes and practices regarding sun protection before and after program.Results: Revealed that more than half of workers were exposed to sun burn and sun stroke in the last twelve months. Also, they had poor level of knowledge, inadequate practices and negative attitudes regarding sun protection at pre-intervention. However, after intervention, the outdoor workers had good level of knowledge with adequate practices for sun protection and positive attitudes, with highly statistically significant differences between pre–post interventions. Conclusion: the study revealed that the intervention seemed to change the knowledge, practices and attitudes of subjects toward sun protection. This, in turn implies that awareness to sun protection could be important to reduce risk of skin cancer in Egypt. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract Background The prevention of overweight and obesity during infancy is a highly relevant public health topic given the significant impact of childhood obesity on acute and chronic diseases, general health, and well-being in later stages of life. Apart from the family setting, daycare facilities (DFs) represent a key setting for health promotion among children under the age of six years. “JolinchenKids – Fit and Healthy in Daycare” is a multi-component program promoting physical activity (PA), healthy eating, and mental well-being in 3- to 6-year-old preschoolers at DFs, originally designed by the German health insurance AOK. To evaluate program effectiveness, a cluster-controlled trial involving 68 DFs is currently conducted. The objective of this article is to describe the background, study design, and aims of this trial. Methods/design Sixty-eight DFs across Germany will be recruited to take part in the study, half of them serving as intervention DFs and half of them as delayed intervention control DFs (which receive the program upon completion of the study). At each DF, height, weight, and body composition, as well as motor skills, will be assessed in twenty 3- to 6-year-old children. Children’s eating and PA habits, and mental well-being will be assessed via parental questionnaires. A subsample of children (i.e., at 24 DFs which are randomly selected within a geographic region) will be asked to wear accelerometers at their wrists to objectively measure PA over the course of seven days. To compare changes in body composition, motor skills, eating and PA habits, and mental well-being of children at intervention DFs with those observed among children at delayed intervention control DFs over one year, all measurements will take place at baseline and twelve months after the launch of the program at all DFs. Discussion This study investigates the influence of a health promotion program in the daycare setting on various outcomes, including body composition and objectively measured PA, in a nationwide sample of 3- to 6-year-old preschoolers. This study will provide evidence regarding the effectiveness of a multi-component program for health promotion in this setting and may provide insights into new strategies for preventing obesity in early life. Background: Physical activity (PA) is ranked as a leading health indicator and the workplace is a key setting to promote PA. The purpose of this study was to examine how goal-setting and exercise self-efficacy (SE) during a health promotion program influenced PA level among Japanese workers. Methods: Using a cross-sectional study design, we surveyed 281 employees. The short version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire was used to assess PA level. Exercise SE was assessed using a partially modified version of Oka's exercise SE scale. Personal goals were assessed as the total numbers of “yes” responses to five items regarding “details of personal goals to perform PA”. A mediational model was used to examine whether exercise SE mediates between the number of personal goals and PA level. Results: The mean age of the participants was 46.3 years, 76.2% were men, and the most common occupational category was software engineer (30.6%). The average PA level per week exceeded the recommended level in 127 participants (45.2%). One hundred and eighty-four participants (65.5%) set some form of concrete personal goal to perform PA. The relationship between the number of personal goals and PA level was mediated by exercise SE. Conclusion: Our study showed that exercise SE mediates goal-setting and increases PA. The results suggest that the components of PA promotion programs should be tailored to enhance participants' confidence in performing PA.

This quasi-experimental research aimed to test the effectiveness of the Health Promotion Program among prehypertensive people in Chumphon Sub-District, Moeiwadee District, Roi Et Province. The 68 high risk of high blood pressure participants were divided into 2 groups, an experimental group and a control group. There were 34 people per group. The experimental group was intervened with Health Promotion Program for 10 weeks. The Motivation theory of self-efficacy, the behaviours prevention of 3E and 2S (Eating, Emotion, Exercise, Stop Smoking, Stop Drinking) and the exercise by the 9 tables were applied with the receiving of health promotion program. Previous research have never had exercised by 9 tables in among pre-hypertensive subjects. The data were collected by using a quantitative questionnaire and blood pressure measurement and were analysed for percentage, mean, standard deviation, Paired. Samples t-test, and Independent Samples t-test. The results showed that after the intervention of Health Promotion Program the mean score of knowledge about hypertension, perceived severity, self-efficacy, hypertension behaviours prevention of 3E and 2S was higher than in the pre intervention program and higher than the comparison group by a statistically significant difference at p < 0.001. The systolic and diastolic blood pressure were decreased compared with the pre intervention program by a statistically significant difference at p < 0.001. The study suggests that the application of self-efficacy theory together with exercise with "Table 9 Tables" can promote the blood pressure control effectively. We can use the Health Promotion Program among people at risk of hypertension in the community in order to prevent hypertension, which can consequently leads to decreases in a number of hypertension patients. Background: Health promotion is a process that aims to increase the decision-making power of people on their own health, encourage maintaining positive health behaviors, and improve their own health. Objective: This study was carried out to determine the effect of the health promotion program intended for university students on healthy lifestyle behavior, health perception, and self-efficacy level of students. Methodology: This randomized controlled experimental study was conducted with 37 students. "The Health Promotion Program" was applied to the experimental group once a week for eight weeks. The control group was not included in the program. The data were collected from the two groups by using a personal information form, the Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Scale-II, the Perception of Health Scale, and the Self-Efficacy Scale. X2 test, the Mann Whitney U Test, and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test were used for data analysis. Results: After the implementation of the health promotion program, there were significant increases in the experimental group compared to the control group in terms of the health responsibility subscale of the Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scale, the self-awareness subscale of the Perception of Health Scale and its mean total score, and the mean total score for the Self- Efficacy Scale (p <0.05). In addition, in the final comparison of the experimental and control groups, significant progress was found in the mean score of health responsibility and interpersonal relations subscale of the Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Scale and the mean total score of the Self-Efficacy Scale (p <0.05). Conclusion: The health promotion program affected health responsibility, interpersonal communication, health perception, and self-efficacy levels of the students positively. College students face significant health concerns. In recent years, there has been an emergence of health-related residential learning communities (RLCs) at institutions of higher education, which endeavor to improve students' academic and health outcomes by offering a communal living environment and programming. However, there is negligible literature describing health-related RLCs as a health promotion intervention, the kind of experience residents have, or the impact that health-related RLCs have on student outcomes. To begin to fill this gap, this article describes a health-themed RLC named HealthWave that was created at a private Southern university and the diverse stakeholders involved. It also summarizes results from a multimethod evaluation that included focus groups, an experience survey, and a quasi-experimental study with non-HealthWave students in the same residence hall as the comparison group. HealthWave was a feasible intervention to implement and residents provided very positive feedback about their experience, although the impact of HealthWave on students' health behavior is unclear. Lessons learned from implementing and evaluating HealthWave are shared in order to inform health promotion professionals' future programmatic and evaluation efforts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and aim: The body mass index (BMI) of Iranian preschoolers is noticeably increasing. Thus, studying the factors influencing BMI in preschool children is crucial. The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of lifestyle factors on BMI of preschool children, residing in Behbahan city, southwest Iran, in 2016. Methods: A total of 120 preschool children, aged 4 to 6 years, participated in this cross-sectional study. Multistage random sampling was done. Using researcher-developed questionnaires whose validity and reliability was confirmed, demographic and lifestyle data were obtained, as the questionnaires were completed by the subject's mothers. Lifestyle factors included physical activity, fruit and vegetable consumption, sugar-free beverage intake, and screen time. Multiple logistic regression was conducted to analyze the influence of lifestyle-related behaviors on BMI. Data were analyzed by means of the SPSS 22 software and p<0.05 was resulted as the meaningful level of statistics. Results: The average BMI values for children was 15.13±1.90 kg/m2. A total of 88.3% of children did not receive 5 cups of fruits and vegetables each day. Also, 12.5% consumed more than one serving of sweetened beverages per day. Only 2.5% engaged in 60 minutes of structured physical activity every day and 40% did not limit screen-time viewing to 2 hours per day or less. The findings indicated that the physical activity and screen time affected the BMI (p<0.05), and the duration of physical activity had inverse relationship with obesity, and screen time was directly related to obesity. Conclusion: Understanding the factors affecting the BMI of preschool children can inform the development of interventions to impact children's weight-related behavior and it can be used as the basis for future healthy body weight policies. Objective (s): The last evaluation of addiction conditions in Iran in 2008 showed that 70% of the addicts in Iran are employed and about 10% of them have started drug taking in their workplaces. The addiction prevention program in workplaces were practically piloted in 5 provinces in 2003 and generalized to the whole country from 2004. This study was carried out to evaluate the program in order to improve its implementation.Methods: This analytical descriptive research has been implemented according to health program evaluation method. Data has been collected through reviewing documents of the program history and monitoring since it was established, intensive group discussion sessions with Welfare Organization local authorities, interviewing 10 well-informed individuals, and interviewing program intermediary experts in 58 workplaces. All data were classified in three general categories as achievements, challenges, and techniques to promote the program; and it was finalized in the project steering committeel, and future trends were proposed to develop and promote the program.Results: The most important achievement of the program from the viewpoint of individuals studied has been awareness and sensitivity increase in employers and employees on addiction. The secondary effect was decline in addiction in workplaces and increase in productivity, absenteeism and leave reduction. The most important challenges of the program have a nearly equal contribution in all three legal-political (macro), operational- structural (middle), and cultural- behavioral (micro) domains. The most important proposed techniques to promote the program were service pack revision, preparing simple and comprehensive style sheet with all stakeholders’ incorporation, signing an agreement with employers and employees representatives, and applying encouraging methods for employers at local levels.Conclusion: Although there was inadequate periodic data to compare indicators of addiction incidence and prevalence in workplaces, evaluation relied upon ideas of three stakeholders (authorities, intermediary experts, and local facilitators) who were satisfied with the program implementation and required it to be continued and amended. Long-term intervention are needed to include addiction prevention program into health promotion programs in work places and attempt to legalize them. However, in short term service pack revision of addiction prevention in workplaces with incorporation of employers’ representatives, employees, workplace intermediary experts, provincial authorities; environmental rehabilitation and justification at local level and workplaces, are recommended.

Background: The prevention of overweight and obesity during infancy is a highly relevant public health topic given the significant impact of childhood obesity on acute and chronic diseases, general health, and well-being in later stages of life. Apart from the family setting, daycare facilities (DFs) represent a key setting for health promotion among children under the age of six years. "JolinchenKids - Fit and Healthy in Daycare" is a multi-component program promoting physical activity (PA), healthy eating, and mental well-being in 3- to 6-year-old preschoolers at DFs, originally designed by the German health insurance AOK. To evaluate program effectiveness, a cluster-controlled trial involving 68 DFs is currently conducted. The objective of this article is to describe the background, study design, and aims of this trial.Methods/design: Sixty-eight DFs across Germany will be recruited to take part in the study, half of them serving as intervention DFs and half of them as delayed intervention control DFs (which receive the program upon completion of the study). At each DF, height, weight, and body composition, as well as motor skills, will be assessed in twenty 3- to 6-year-old children. Children's eating and PA habits, and mental well-being will be assessed via parental questionnaires. A subsample of children (i.e., at 24 DFs which are randomly selected within a geographic region) will be asked to wear accelerometers at their wrists to objectively measure PA over the course of seven days. To compare changes in body composition, motor skills, eating and PA habits, and mental well-being of children at intervention DFs with those observed among children at delayed intervention control DFs over one year, all measurements will take place at baseline and twelve months after the launch of the program at all DFs.Discussion: This study investigates the influence of a health promotion program in the daycare setting on various outcomes, including body composition and objectively measured PA, in a nationwide sample of 3- to 6-year-old preschoolers. This study will provide evidence regarding the effectiveness of a multi-component program for health promotion in this setting and may provide insights into new strategies for preventing obesity in early life.Trial Registration: German Clinical Trials Register DRKS00011065 (Date of registration 16-09-2016).
