Due to the importance of automotive industry for the Czech Republic (in a broader sense for European countries) and due to the unprecedented development of both national and European economies caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, also having implications on the financial sector, we aim to explore the main determinants of operating performance within the automotive supply chain. This study is based on the data sample composed of complete individual financial statements (audited if available) of firms conducting their business in the Czech Republic from 2011 to 2018 and belonging to the automotive supply chain. This supply chain is defined as (sub) deliveries of the Czech automotive industry represented mainly by companies classified under NACE 22, 27, 25, 24. The hypothesis claiming that the investment and leverage-based variables are the important drivers of operating profitability was only partly confirmed (valid predominantly for Tier 3), which shows that the supply chain organization also plays a crucial role as well as (valid for Tier 1). Also, we have shown (illustrated) that the assumption of different capital structures among tiers is valid. The average overall indebtedness of Tier 3 is higher by approximately 50% (altogether, the short- and long-term leverage are higher by 40% and 62% respectively) than Tier 1 firms. The need for relatively high capital expenditures (applicable to Tier 1) and working capital investments (applicable to Tier 3) is partly facilitated by external funds reflected in the indebtedness, which is associated with the costs reducing overall low profits from these investments. The leverageprofitability relationship seems to be nonlinear for long-term debts contrary to short-term debts where the linear relationship prevails.

This paper deals with the generation of shareholder value in the financial supply chain from the perspective of working capital management and examines whether this value remains stable at the aggregate level of the national economy and whether there is an even distribution of shareholder value across sectors of the national economy. Final balanced dataset contains of 2.393 Czech firms with complete annual financial figures for period from 2011 to 2019 (21.538 firm-year observations). Significant evidence confirming increasing value of aggregated cash conversion cycle caused by volatile development of all working capital components over the time were found. Major shareholder value driver is changing constantly over the respective period of time, therefore also assumption about equal distribution of shareholder value among sectors has to be rejected.

The article aims to define the Czech Agro-Food supply chain and develop financial metrics to quantify the economic value added generated within the supply chain. The study is based on a sample of complete financial statements from 2011 to 2018 from the agro-food organisations. The authors prove that the retail sale sector generates high shareholder value. Contrary to that, the wholesale sector´s shareholder value deteriorated over the respective period owing to reinforced capital intensity measures, resulting in low profitability. A special case is primary agricultural production, where the low shareholder value is offset by public transfers influencing all value drivers either directly or non-directly. These constantly changed, both in the single sector and financial supply chain, thus concluding the latter is dynamic in its nature. The primary agricultural production (Agro) faced specific conditions due to significant public transfers in the form of subsidies etc., thus influencing non/directly all shareholders´ value drivers and consequently reducing the originally expected vulnerability. The authors have found that the shareholder value is not generated and distributed evenly within the Czech Agro-Food supply chain; therefore, the “scissors” are expending in favour of the Retail sector at the expense of the others, especially of the Agro sector.

Příspěvek je analýzou zahraničního obchodu postsovětských zemí provedenou pro roky 2000 a 2015. Cíle výzkumu byly tedy dvojí: zkoumat dvoustranný obchodní režim pro vybrané země a pokusit se prozkoumat vztahy mezi konkurenceschopností a tedy postavení agregátů zemědělských komodit. Byla použita databáze UN COMTRADE. Ve sledovaných zemích dochází k nepřetržitému růstu komoditního agregátu 0 - Potraviny a živá zvířata, který je silně ovlivněn komoditními subagregáty 02 - Mléčné výrobky a ptačí vejce, S3-04 - Obiloviny a obilné přípravky. První fáze zahrnovala výpočty jednotlivých indikátorů vzájemného obchodu (RCA, LFI, GLI a krytí importu). Indikátory byly následně použity jako vstupní proměnné pro další analýzy. Pomocí indexů RCA a LFI byly komoditní agregáty klasifikovány do 4 kvadrantů podle jejich pozice v rámci komparativní výhody a konkurenceschopnosti. Pomocí klastrové analýzy (na základě Euklidiánovy vzdálenosti a Wardovy metody) byly jednotlivé komoditní agregáty pro sledované země rozděleny do skupin na základě hodnot GLI, LFI a pokrytí importu. Skupiny byly následně charakterizovány pro jednotlivé země. Na základě provedených analýz lze konstatovat, že hypotéza 0 o neexistenci významných změn ve struktuře skupiny neodráží realitu. V letech 2000 až 2015 došlo k podstatným změnám, pokud jde o rozdělení komoditních agregátů do skupin na základě jejich společných charakteristik zahraničního obchodu. Kromě toho se v letech 2000 až 2015 snížila diverzita zahraničního obchodu a více komoditních agregátů dosahuje hodnot kolem nebo pod průměrem daného agregátu. Při hodnocení obchodu v rámci odvětví lze konstatovat, že některé komoditní agregáty lze považovat za důležité pouze s ohledem na Ázerbájdžán, Rusko, Bělorusko, Kazachstán a Ukrajinu. V těchto zemích se tento jev nejčastěji projevuje u komoditních agregátů Nápoje nebo Zelenina a ovoce. The paper is an analysis of foreign trade of the post-Soviet countries conducted for years 2000 and 2015. The aims of the research were thus twofold: to examine the bilateral trade scheme for the selected countries and to attempt to explore relations between competitiveness and thus the position of the agricultural commodity aggregates. The UN COMTRADE database was used. In the monitored countries, there is continuous growth of the commodity aggregate 0 - Food and live animals, which is strongly influenced by the commodity sub-aggregates 02 - Dairy products and bird eggs, S3-04 - Cereals and cereal preparations. The first phase entailed calculations of individual indicators of mutual trade (RCA, LFI, GLI and coverage of import). Subsequently, the indicators were used as input variables for further analyses. Using RCA and LFI indexes, the commodity aggregates were classified into 4 quadrants according to their position within the comparative advantage and competitiveness. Using a cluster analysis (based on Euclidian distance and Ward's method), individual commodity aggregates for the monitored countries were divided into groups based on the values of GLI, LFI and coverage of import. The groups were subsequently characterized for individual countries. Based on the conducted analyses, it can be stated that hypothesis 0 about the non-existence of significant changes within the group structure does not reflect the reality. Between 2000 and 2015, substantial changes occurred in terms of dividing the commodity aggregates into groups based on their common characteristics with regard to foreign trade. In addition, the diversity within foreign trade decreased between 2000 and 2015, and more commodity aggregates attain values around or below the average of a given aggregate. When assessing the intra-industry trade, it can be stated that some commodity aggregates can be regarded as important only with regard to Azerbaijan, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. In these countries, this phenomenon is most frequently evident in the commodity aggregates Beverages or Vegetables and fruit.

Cílem této práce je porovnat perspektivy řízení s podmínkami auditu v zemích Visegrádské skupiny (V4) (Česká republika, Slovenská republika, Polsko a Maďarsko) v následujících oblastech: legislativa upravující audit, zákonná povinnost auditu, povinná rotace auditorů v subjektech veřejného zájmu, požadavky na auditory a profesionální činnosti a organizace provádějící dohled nad auditem. Příspěvek také testuje hypotézu, zda existuje vztah mezi velikostí účetní jednotky a výrokem auditora. Metodika je založena na statistické analýze dat pomocí Chí-kvadrát testu nezávislosti aplikovaného na vzorku 800 náhodně vybraných účetních jednotek ze všech zemí V4 (200 za každou dotyčnou zemi). Výsledky prokázaly významné rozdíly v přístupech managementu k finančnímu výkaznictví, zejména v oblasti zákonné povinnosti auditu. Kromě toho byl proveden kvantitativní výzkum s cílem zjistit, zda existuje vztah mezi velikostí účetní jednotky a výrokem auditora. Při 5% hladině významnosti nebyla žádná taková závislost zjištěna pro žádnou ze zemí V4, ale na 10% hladině významnosti byla již prokázána v případě Polské republiky a Maďarska. Praktickou hodnotou získaných výsledků je znalost způsobu řízení účetních standardů pro podnikatelské subjekty v zemích V4 a stanovení zákonné povinnosti k ověření účetní závěrky. Tyto výsledky mohou mít zvláštní praktický význam pro obchodní manažery, daňové úřady a auditory působící v zemích EU. This paper aims at comparing the management perspectives with the audit conditions in the Visegrad Group (V4) countries (the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic, Poland, and Hungary) in the following areas: legislation governing the auditing, statutory duty of auditing, mandatory rotation of auditors in public interest entities, requirements on auditors and professional activities, and audit supervision organizations. The paper also tests the hypothesis whether there is a relationship between the size of the accounting entity and the auditor’s opinion. The methodology is based on the statistical analysis of the data using the Chi-square test of independence applied to a sample of 800 randomly selected accounting entities from all V4 countries (200 per each country in question). The results demonstrated significant differences in the management approaches to financial reporting, especially in the area of the statutory duty of auditing. In addition, quantitative research was conducted to determine whether there is a relationship between the size of the accounting entity and the auditor’s opinion. At the 5% significance level, no such dependence has been found for any of the V4 countries, but at the 10% significance level, the dependence has already been proved in case of the Republic of Poland and Hungary. The practical value of the obtained results is the knowledge of how to manage accounting standards for business entities in the V4 countries, as well as to determine the statutory duty to audit financial statements. These results might be of a special practical importance for business managers, tax authorities, and auditors operating in the EU countries.

V této studii jsou analyzovány rozdíly v běžných měřítcích ziskovosti, jako je návratnost tržeb, návratnost použitého kapitálu a návratnost vlastního kapitálu, a to v zemědělských firmách s akruálním účetnictvím v 10 evropských zemích. Výsledné rozdíly v ziskovosti se člení pomocí metody aditivního rozkladu, která řeší kvantifikovaný dopad několika ovlivňujících faktorů. Tento přístup je založen na poměrovém systému, který se řídí zásadami identity DuPont. Podle obecného záměru srovnávání poskytuje vedoucí země ve vzorku pro každé měření ziskovosti relevantní referenční bod představující osvědčené postupy. Tento přístup poskytuje vhled do konkrétních komparativních silných a slabých stránek zemědělských podniků v zemích zařazených do vzorku a naznačuje užitečné výchozí body pro účinná zlepšení. Kromě operací vytvářejících hodnotu to zahrnuje zejména produktivitu práce, efektivní využívání fixních aktiv a míru financování dluhu. In this study, differences in common measures of profitability, such as return on sales, return on capital employed and return on equity, are analysed in agricultural firms with accrual accounting in 10 European countries. The resulting differences in profitability are broken down using an additive decomposition method, which addresses the quantified impact of several affecting factors. This approach is based on a ratio system, which follows the princi-ples of the DuPont identity. According to the general intention of benchmarking, the leading country within the sample for each measure of profitability provides the relevant reference point, representing best practice. This approach provides insight into the specific comparative strengths and weak-nesses of the agribusinesses in the countries within the sample and indicates useful starting points for effective improvements. In addition to the value-creating operations, this involves, in particular, labour productivity, the efficient use of fixed assets and the degree of debt fi-nancing.

Hlavním důvodem zavedení elektronické evidence prodeje (EET) v České republice byl efektivnější výběr daní - zejména v oblasti daně z příjmů právnických osob, daně z příjmů fyzických osob a daně z přidané hodnoty. Cílem příspěvku je analyzovat a vyhodnotit dopady elektronických záznamů o uvedení do prodeje malých a středních podniků v České republice. Výzkum byl prováděn mezi malými a středními podniky, které mají s tímto novým legislativním nařízením něco společného. Autoři použili strukturovaný dotazník zaslaný 1 705 respondentům. Jako metoda hodnocení byla použita korelační analýza. Na základě výsledků výzkumu lze konstatovat, že více než polovina všech respondentů nesouhlasí se zaváděním elektronických záznamů o prodeji, a to zejména díky svým velkým administrativním nárokům. Výzkum také potvrdil, že největší část respondentů zaznamenala investice související se zavedením ERS do výše 5 000 Kč. Měsíčně zaznamenané náklady související s ERS byly nejčastěji v rozmezí 201 - 500 Kč. Kromě zjištění popsaných v článku byl také prokázán vliv elektronických záznamů o zavedení prodeje na trend růstu tržeb v hodnoceném segmentu vzhledem k hrubému domácímu produktu (HDP). Realizovaný výzkum bude sloužit jako výchozí bod pro další výzkum v popsané oblasti. The main reason for electronic records of sales (ERS) introduction in the Czech Republic was more effective tax collection - mainly in the area of corporate income tax, income tax on natural person and value added tax. Objective of this contribution is to analyze and evaluate impacts of electronic records of sales introduction to the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Czech Republic. The research was conducted among SMEs having something in common with this new legislative regulation. Authors used the structured questionnaire sent to 1 705 respondents. As the evaluation method was used the correlation analysis. On the basis of the research results can be stated that more than half of all respondents does not agree with the introduction of electronic records of sales, mainly due to its great administrative demands. The research also confirmed that the greatest part of respondents recorded investment related to ERS introduction in height up to 5 000 CZK. Monthly recorded costs related to ERS were most often in the range 201 - 500 CZK. In addition to findings described in the article was also proven effect of electronic records of sales introduction on sales growth trend in evaluated segment relative to gross domestic product (GDP). Conducted research will be used as a starting point for further research in described area.

Hlavním cílem příspěvku je identifikovat, analyzovat a vyhodnotit současný stav využití tohoto systému českými nekótovanými společnostmi s ohledem na budoucí možnosti rozšíření implementace IAS/IFRS na všechny účetní jednotky působící v České republice. Na základě zjištěných informací byly určeny hlavní výhody, nevýhody a bariéry aplikace IAS/IFRS a současný stav celkového povědomí nekótovaných společností o IAS/IFRS v České republice. S ohledem na získané informace autoři poukázali na nejčastěji se vyskytující problémy spojené s dalším rozšiřováním systému IAS / IFRS i mezi ostatními českými účetními jednotkami. Porovnání obdobně zaměřených výzkumů provedených výzkumnými pracovníky v různých zemích bylo provedeno tam, kde bylo možné zjistit, zda se trendy viditelné v České republice značně liší od trendů zaznamenaných v zahraničí či nikoliv. The main objective of the paper is to identify, analyze and evaluate current state of use of this system by the Czech non-listed companies with regard to future possibilities of extension of IAS/IFRS implementation to all accounting units operating in the Czech Republic. On the basis of the identified information were determined main advantages, disadvantages and barriers of the IAS/IFRS application and current state of the overall awareness of non-listed companies about IAS/IFRS in the Czech Republic. With regard to obtained information, the authors pointed out the most frequently met problems related to further expansion of the IAS/IFRS system also among other Czech accounting units. Comparison of similarly focused researches conducted by researchers in different countries were made where it was possible, to find out if the trends visible in the Czech Republic vary significantly from those recorded in foreign countries or not.

Příspěvek reaguje na skutečnost, že nové průmyslové paradigma Průmysl 4.0 vyžaduje diskusi o sociálních a organizačních účincích tohoto paradigmatu a zaměřuje se na služby založené na znalostech. Cílem příspěvku je analyzovat a porovnat data zpracovaná Eurostatem, OECD a dalšími vědeckými pracemi z databáze Web of Science a nastavit (s využitím jejich srovnání) parametry pro typologii podniků znalostně náročných služeb. Autoři příspěvku nastavili 4 parametry: vysoká míra vysokoškolsky vzdělaných pracovních sil, začlenění do odvětví s vysokým podílem výdajů na výzkumnou činnost, existence pozitivního přístupu k inovaci a dostupnost základního procesu (jehož řízení je strategické), obsahově klíčových technologií, využívání systémů umožňujících řízení výroby, logistiky, marketingu a lze očekávat vysokou úroveň její bezpečnosti, resp. vysoké znalosti. Dalším cílem bylo pomocí údajů poskytnutých Českým statistickým úřadem identifikovat počet podniků, které patří k identifikovaným znalostně náročným službám a jeho vývoj v letech 2014 - 2017 se záměrem pokračovat ve výzkumu formou dotazníkového šetření. Tato analýza přinesla zjištění, že podniky, které splňují stanovené požadavky, se vyskytují především ve dvou sektorech národního hospodářství: Informační a komunikační aktivity s podílem 12,7% z celkového počtu výzkumných center v ČR a v sektoru: Profesionální, vědecké a technické činnosti s podílem 15,3%. Oba sektory vykazují nejvyšší míru malých podniků, ale ve sledovaném období se zvýšil počet malých, středních i velkých podniků. To může vést k navýšení disponibilního počtu podniků, které mohou být zařazeny do služeb založených na znalostech na 800. Tento příspěvek představuje částečný výsledek probíhajícího výzkumného projektu. Issue of the contribution responds to the fact that the new industrial paradigm Industry 4.0 requires the discussion about social and organizational effects of this paradigm and focuses on knowledge-intensive services. Objective of the contribution is to analyze and compare data processed by Eurostat, OECD and other scientific works from the Web of Science database and set (using their comparison) parameters for typology of enterprises of knowledge-intensive services. Authors of the contribution set 4 parameters: high rate of university-educated workforce, incorporation to sectors with high share of expenditures for research activities, existence of positive approach to innovation and availability of the core process, whose control is strategic, contents key technologies, uses systems enabling to manage production, logistics, marketing and it is possible to expect high level of its security, respectively high knowledge intensity. Further objective was to identify, using data provided by the Czech Statistical Office, the amount of enterprises belonging to identified knowledge-intensive services and its development in 2014 - 2017 with the intention to continue the research using the form of questionnaire survey. This analysis brought the finding that enterprises meeting set requirements occur mainly in two sectors of national economy: Information and communication activities with a share of 12,7 % of the whole amount of research centers in the Czech Republic and in the sector: Professional, scientific and technical activities with a share of 15,3 %. Both sectors show the highest rate of small businesses, but in monitored period increased the amount of both small and medium-sized and large enterprises. This may lead to increase of available amount of enterprises which can be included to the knowledge-intensive services to 800. This contribution represents partial result of the ongoing research project.

Článek se zabývá výrobou cukru a dostupnými výrobními kapacitami v Oceánii a Austrálii. Cílem tohoto článku je zjistit současný stav výrobních kapacit na regionální úrovni resp. v jednotlivých oblastech. Je specifikována úroveň produkce (cca 5,2 mil. tun cukru ročně, resp. téměř 40 mil. tun cukrové třtiny za rok) a jeho vývoj (cca 0,8% růst objemu výroby cukru za rok). Pozornost je věnována také výrobním kapacitám (31 rafinerií cukru s instalovaným denním výkonem 300 000 m3 cukrové třtiny denně) a jejich koncentrace (HHI 2203, tj. Vysoká úroveň tržní koncentrace). Zajišťují se nejdůležitější hráči působící na regionálním trhu. Austrálie dominuje výrobním kapacitám regionu (cca 91% v rámci regionu). Výroba cukru v regionu je relativně koncentrovaná. Jen málo společností ovládá významnou část výroby a instalovaných výrobních kapacit. Analýza také ukázala významný potenciál ke zvýšení výrobních kapacit (2 nové rafinérie jsou ve výstavbě a jejich odhadovaná kapacita je téměř 22 000 t cukrové třtiny denně) a zejména vývozní kapacity v regionu (současný objem vývozu činí 3,5-4 mil. t za rok). Jedním z negativních rysů ovlivňujících produkci cukru v regionu je volatilita počasí; časté cyklóny a sucha měly negativní vliv na objem výroby. The article deals with sugar production and available production capacities in Oceania and Australia. The aim of this article is to identify the current state of production capacities at the regional level and its individual areas. The level of production (cc 5.2 mil. t of sugar per year, or rather almost 40 mil. t of sugar cane per year) and its development (cc 0.8% sugar production volume growth per year) is specified. Attention is also paid to production capacities (31 sugar refineries with the installed daily capacity of cc 300,000 t of sugar cane per day) and their concentration (HHI 2203 i.e. high level of market concentration). The most important players operating on the regional market are identified. Australia dominates the production capacities of the region (cc 91% within the region). Sugar production within the region is relatively concentrated. Only a few companies control a significant portion of production and installed production capacities. The analysis also showed a significant potential to increase production capacities (2 new refineries are under construction and their estimated capacity is nearly 22,000 t of sugar cane per day) and especially export capacities within the region (current export volume is 3.5–4 mil. t per year). One negative feature affecting sugar production in the region is weather volatility; frequent cyclones and droughts have had a negative effect on the volume of production.

Measurement as value determination is very important in the field of property and financial sources reporting. The choice of measurement base influences all accounting information necessary for making decisions by investors, creditors, suppliers, employees and other subjects in order to realize their plans. The paper aims, firstly, to characterize the processes of evaluation of biological assets and agricultural produce in accordance with International Accounting Standard (IAS) 41 in its current wording; secondly, to present the results of research conducted within the project SGS 2013-040 titled “A paradigm of development in the 21st century and its influence on the behaviour of economic agents”, and, finally, to compare the findings with the solutions contained in Exposure Draft ED/2013/8 Agriculture: Bearer Plants (Proposed Amendments to IAS 16 and IAS 41), which was published by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) for comments to be received by 28th October 2013. In the paper the results of the research, conducted through a questionnaire survey on a sample of 104 agricultural enterprises, will be compared with the IASB's proposed solutions. The purpose of this paper is to verify the hypothesis that can be formulated as follows: The opinions of most respondents, participating in the questionnaire survey are rather restrained as for the use of value measurement of biological assets and agricultural produce and therefore are not inconsistent with a solution adopted in the aforementioned Exposure Draft.
