Sonderwirtschaftszonen gelten als ein etabliertes Instrument zur Förderung der sozialen und wirtschaftlichen "Entwicklung" und neuerdings auch zur sog. Aktivierung und Integration von Geflüchteten. In diesem Beitrag setzen wir uns kritisch mit einem vermeintlichen Paradebeispiel des Nexus "Entwicklung" und "Geflüchtetenintegration" auseinander: dem 'Jordan Compact', ein 2016 verabschiedetes bilaterales Abkommen zwischen Jordanien und der Europäischen Union. Wir knüpfen in der Darstellung einerseits an Weltsystemansätze an, unterstreichen andererseits aber die Notwendigkeit einer raumtheoretischen Aktualisierung. Denn ungleiche Entwicklung, so diskutieren wir mit Blick auf die globalen Produktionsnetzwerke der Bekleidungsindustrie und die Arbeits- und Lebensbedingungen in den jordanischen Sonderwirtschaftszonen, muss systematisch als glokal verfasste in den Blick genommen werden. Multiskalare sozialräumliche Fragmentierung der Arbeits- und Reproduktionsbedingungen ist hiernach konstitutiv für die gegenwärtige neoliberale Globalisierung. Special economic zones have long been argued to promote social and economic "development" and, more recently, to "activate" and integrate refugees. In this paper, we critically examine a supposedly prime example of the nexus between "development" and "refugee integration": the Jordan Compact, a bilateral agreement between Jordan and the European Union adopted in 2016. In the article, we draw on world-systems approaches, on the one hand, while emphasising the necessity of their spatial-theoretical updating, on the other hand. By presenting the empirical example of the garment industry's global production networks and the working and living conditions in the Jordanian special economic zones, we highlight that uneven development glocally constituted the multi-scalar socio-spatial fragmentation of labour and the reproduction of conditions, constitutive of neoliberal globalisation.

Um aktuelle Prozesse wie demographischen Wandel, Veränderung der präferierten Wohngegebenheiten und sozialräumliche Ungleichheiten aus einer angewandten stadtgeographischen Perspektive untersuchen zu können, beschäftigten sich Studierende des Masterschwerpunkts „Geographies of uneven development“ der Universität Salzburg mit dem Stadtteil Salzburg-Lehen. Die Untersuchungen wurden im Rahmen eines Seminars durch Master- und Lehramtsstudierende am Fachbereich Geographie durchgeführt. In diesem Forschungsbericht werden die Ergebnisse einer Befragung von BewohnerInnen aus dem Salzburger Stadtteil Lehen bezüglich der Thematiken soziostrukturelle Entwicklung, Wohnverhältnisse, Wohnzufriedenheit, soziale Beziehungen in der Nachbarschaft, Quartiersimage und der Mobilität der BewohnerInnen vorgestellt und analysiert. Lehen als ein urbanes, soziokulturell vielfältiges und gleichzeitig polarisierendes Stadtviertel ist aufgrund seiner zentralen Lage im Stadtgebiet Salzburg und aktuell laufender Stadtentwicklungsprojekte ein höchst-spannendes Forschungsumfeld. In order to investigate current processes such as demographic change, changes in preferred living conditions and socio-spatial inequalities from an applied urban geographic perspective, students from the master program “Geographies of uneven development investigated Salzburg-Lehen. This report presents and analyses the results of a household survey in Lehen regarding of sociodemographic structures, housing conditions, housing satisfaction, social relations in the neighbourhood, the image of the neighbourhood and the mobility of residents. Lehen as a densely built-up, structurally diverse and polarising district is a very exciting research environment due to its central location in the city of Salzburg and current urban development projects. Im Rahmen der vorliegenden Arbeit wird die breitbandige Mikrowellenspektroskopie auf Basis einer Sechstor-Architektur behandelt. Ein Schwerpunkt dieser Arbeit liegt in der Entwicklung eines berührungslosen Messverfahrens zur Untersuchung dielektrischer Materialien, einschließlich des dazugehörigen Kalibrieralgorithmus. Im Fortgang werden Entwurf und Implementierung eines alternativen Netzwerkanalysators auf Basis einer direktumsetzenden, passiven Empfängerstruktur vorgestellt. Abschließend stehen die Evaluation und der Vergleich verschiedener Funktionsdemonstratoren im Fokus dieser Abhandlung. Moderne Labormessgeräte zur Erfassung dielektrischer Stoffeigenschaften im Mikro- und Millimeterwellen-Frequenzbereich sind durch hohe Anschaffungskosten sowie durch kontaktierende Messverfahren gekennzeichnet. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wird ein neuartiges, berührungsloses Messverfahren zur Charakterisierung dielektrischer, schlauchgeführter Flüssigkeiten vorgestellt. Mit Hilfe des entwickelten Kalibrierverfahrens wird die spektrale Bestimmung der komplexen Dielektrizitätskonstante im Durchfluss ermöglicht. Im Anwendungsbereich der Stoffanalyse können mit diesem Messverfahren Konzentrationsunterschiede von weniger als 0.1% erfasst werden. Im Vergleich zu etablierten Sensorprinzipien wird eine hochgenaue und kontaktlose Messung der permittiven Eigenschaften an schlauchgeführten Medien über mehrere Oktaven ermöglicht. Das HF-Gesamtsystem, bestehend aus Netzwerkanalysator und Sensor, ermöglicht die Erfassung der komplexen Permittivitätskonstante bei vergleichsweise geringer Schaltungskomplexität. Ein wichtiger Meilenstein der Arbeit beinhaltet folglich die Umsetzung ultra-breitbandiger, passiver Schaltungskomponenten. Zu diesen gehören insbesondere symmetrische Richtkoppler, Wilkinson-Leistungsteiler und Leistungsdetektoren. Das entworfene Messgerät einschließlich aller Subkomponenten besitzt eine relative Bandbreite von mehr als 170 %. Des Weiteren wird eine neuartige Kalibrierung des Sechstorempfängers für Permittivitätsmessungen unter Zuhilfenahme wohldefinierter Kalibriermaterialien vorgestellt. This book addresses wideband spectroscopy of dielectric materials based on a Six-Port technology. State-of-the-art laboratory instruments for spectroscopy of dielectric liquids in the micro- and millimeter wave range, suffer from penetrating measurement techniques and considerable costs. A novel contactless measurement concept for dielectric characterization of liquid samples is explained, with a particular focus on industrial and medical applications. Several measurements on animal and human tissue materials are presented and discussed in this book. The demonstration of a contactless, dielectric measurement procedure including its calibration algorithm is subsequently described. The presented wideband measurement system consists of an on-line, non-invasive, dielectric sensor, an alternative vector network analyzer including its sub-components, such as Wilkinson power divider, quadrature coupler and power detectors. The demonstrated frequency range is between 2 GHz and 30 Ghz, thus a frequency bandwidth of multiple octaves i.e. a relative frequency range of more than 170% has been achieved.

The excellent suitability of the externally excited synchronous machine (EESM) in automotive traction drive applications is justified by its high efficiency over the whole operation range and the high availability of materials. Usually, maximum efficiency is obtained by modelling each single loss and minimizing the sum of all losses. As a result, the quality of the optimization highly depends on the precision of the model. Moreover, it requires accurate knowledge of the saturation dependent machine inductances. Therefore, the present contribution proposes a method to minimize the overall losses of a salient pole EESM and its inverter in steady state operation based on measurement data only. Since this method does not require any manufacturer data, it is well suited for an automated measurement data evaluation and inverter parametrization. The field oriented control (FOC) of an EESM provides three current components resp. three degrees of freedom (DOF). An analytic minimization of the copper losses in the stator and the rotor (assuming constant inductances) is performed and serves as a first approximation of how to choose the optimal current reference values.
