An artist shares her experience of working with six international residency programs, which has provided her an opportunity to try new media, techniques not available at her own studio as well as networking with other artists. The environment allows her to completely focus on working in clay and is inspired by many artists to work beyond her limitations.

The article offers information on technologies for the ceramics studios. Topics include the Autodesk Maya software for 3D modeling, scanning, and editing; the photogrammetry-based 3D scanning, Autodesk ReMake, for photogrammetry-based 3D scanning from Autodesk; and printing products such as UV cured photo-polymeric inkjet deposition, such as used by the Objet printer from Stratasys.

An American ceramics student describes her summer session at the national institute for ceramics students in Faenza, Italy. The curriculum included visits to nearby museums, and to artists' studios, both new and famous such as Carlo Zauli. Classes included throwing, decoration and glazing techniques.

The article discusses the 7th Eskişehir Terracotta Symposium, which was held in Eskişehir, Turkey, in September 2013. Particular focus is given to how the symposium aims to allow artists to collaborate on a large scale ceramic sculpture. Several artists participating in the symposium are also noted including Tanner Coleman, Alexis Gregg and Beata Rostas.

This article describes the decoration process of ceramic decals. The industrial use of the decal began during the early 20th century. The decal has become an effective device for enhancing the uniqueness of certain works in clay, and due to this context, decals are routinely changed, inverted, hybridized or employed in unconventional fashion. Several known ceramic artists who regularly employ decal technology include Wan Li Ya, Paul McMullan, Dalia Lauckaite-Jakimaviciene and Anna Calluori Holcombe. In the contemporary studio context, the simultaneous connection to multiplicity and the potential for uniqueness are the significant conceptual attributes that the ceramic decal possess.

The article shares an author's passion on building and research work in Manhattan, Kansas. She keeps two studios, a small studio with a slab roller at home where she can do most of her building work and where she does drawing and research work. The author notes that there are two directions in which she work: one is reminiscent of the circular round medallions one sees all over Italy in the work of people like della Robbia, and is basically platter-like forms that hand on the wall and involve still life imagery. Moreover, he sent a piece to the Faenza, Italy exhibition won an award and went over to the opening.
