Today, school bullying is considered an important social problem that causes developmental injuries and health issues in bullies and victims. The present study investigated the mediating role of brain-behavioural systems in relationships between school climate and emotional self-regulation with school bullying in high school students. This study had a cross-sectional correlational design. The sample size was 257, and the participants were selected using cluster sampling. They completed the Olweus Bully/Victim Questionnaire, Organizational Climate Index, Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, and Behavioural/Brain Systems Questionnaire. The data were analysed using the Pearson correlation coefficient and structural equation modelling (SEM). The findings revealed that the school bullying model based on the school climate and emotional self-regulation with the mediating role of brain-behavioural systems had a good fit. They also demonstrated that school climate had a direct negative effect on school bullying, whereas emotional self-regulation had a direct positive effect on it (p < 0.01). The school climate and emotional self-regulation were found to have a positive indirect effect on school bullying through the mediating role of brain-behavioural systems (p < 0.01). Therefore, it is necessary to develop plans to improve school climate, emotional self-regulation, and brain-behavioural systems to reduce school bullying.

Background: Intensive maternal parenting, while intended to foster academic achievement, has been linked to increased stress and anxiety in children. The present study aimed to investigate the mediating role of maternal mental health in the correlation between intensive maternal attitudes and cognitive abilities in female students applying for the gifted exam.Methods: The study employed a descriptive cross-sectional approach that incorporated the use of structural equation modeling (SEM) techniques. The target population comprised all female students applying for the ninth-grade gifted exam in Tehran, Iran during 2023, along with their mothers. A convenience sample of 301 student-mother dyads participated in the study by completing a battery of self-report questionnaires. These instruments included Cognitive Abilities Questionnaire (CAQ), Intensive Parenting Attitudes Questionnaire (IPAQ), and General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28). The hypothesized model was evaluated using SEM, and bootstrapping was employed to assess the significance of indirect correlations. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS version 27 and Amos version 25.Results: The findings indicated a negative correlation between intensive maternal attitudes and students’ cognitive capabilities (P=0.020). There was also a significant negative correlation between intensive maternal attitudes and mothers’ mental health (P=0.001). The correlation between mothers’ mental health and girls’ cognitive abilities was positive and significant (P=0.001). The correlation between intensive maternal attitudes and students’ cognitive abilities was significant through the mediating role of mental health (P=0.005).Conclusion: Intensive maternal parenting practices were associated with decreased cognitive abilities in students and poorer mental health in mothers. The negative effect of intensive maternal attitudes on cognitive abilities appears to be indirectly mediated by mothers’ mental health.

ABSTRACT Purpose Granulosa cell tumors (GCTs) of the ovary are rare but clinically significant malignancies. Despite advances in treatment, recurrence has remained a substantial challenge. This study aimed to identify clinical outcomes and potential prognostic risk factors for recurrence in patients diagnosed with GCTs. Methods In a retrospective cohort study, the ovarian cancer database of the gynecological tertiary referral cancer center, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Mashhad, Iran, was searched from August 2012 to August 2023 to find GCT cases. Demographic, clinical, pathological, intervention‐related factors, follow‐up, and survival findings were meticulously collected. Data were analyzed using SPSS v 23. Results Ninety‐two patients with GCTs, including 86 AGCT and 6 JGCT subjects, were identified. Based on further analysis of AGCT patients, most patients were ages under 50 (58.1%), clinically presented pain (32.6%), and abnormal uterine bleeding (27.9%) as the most frequent symptoms. Stages IA (64.0%) and IC (20.9%) were common. Five‐year overall and progression‐free survival were 98.2% and 90.8%, respectively. With a median follow‐up time of 72 (0.0–180) months, disease recurrence was observed in 19 patients (23.9%), and five patients (5.4%) died of the disease. Stage IV was a hazard factor of recurrence (HR = 7.62, 95%CI (1.89–30.63); p = 0.004). Conclusions The present study provides valuable insights into the outcomes and potential risk factors for recurrence in ovarian AGCTs. It duplicates the importance of stage in the prognosis of AGCT patients and highlights the safety of fertility‐sparing surgery in stage I and the lack of need to administer chemotherapy in stage IC.

Evaluating neighborhood performance is crucial for achieving long-term zero-carbon goals, enabling efficient energy, cost, and resource sharing among buildings. This task requires balancing multiple criteria and managing uncertainties, emphasizing the importance of performance robustness alongside high performance. This article introduces a flexible multi-criteria approach for evaluating neighborhood performance, focusing on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and energy use across different life cycle stages. Flytårnet, a Norwegian neighborhood with zero-emission ambitions, serves as a case study. The methodology incorporates the T-robust method, an established robustness-based approach, to select high-performance, resilient neighborhood designs under various uncertainties. Results indicate that when assessing buildings as key components and considering energy delivered during the operational phase, including photovoltaic generation, the supplied energy ranges from 25 to 80 kWh/m2/year. Over a 60-year period, life cycle GHG emissions span from 4 to 12 kg CO2-eq./m2/year, accounting for uncertainties and encompassing material production and replacement, as well as energy consumption and generation. However, the optimal design choice varies based on whether life cycle stages beyond the use stage are considered. This research provides valuable insights for decision-makers and designers seeking effective neighborhood designs in early-stage planning, considering diverse and conflicting performance criteria to achieve zero-emission goals.

Abstract This study demonstrates the successful, facile, and cost-effective preparation of magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles (MNPs) via green procedure using Cordia myxa leaf extracts for efficient adsorption of methylene blue (MB) as a model of organic pollutant. The formation of Fe3O4 NPs was confirmed by a range of spectroscopy and microscopy techniques including FT-IR, XRD, FE-SEM, TEM, EDS, VSM, TGA, and BET-BJH. The synthesized spherical nanoparticles had a high specific surface area of 115.07 m2/g with a mesoporous structure. The formed Fe3O4 MNPs exhibited superparamagnetic behavior with saturation magnetization of 49.48 emu/g. After characterization, the adsorptive performance of the synthesized MNPs toward MB was evaluated. To achieve the maximum removal efficiency, the effect of key parameters such as adsorbent dosage (MNPs), initial adsorbate concentration, pH, and contact time on the adsorption process was evaluated. A maximum adsorption capacity of 17.79 mg/g was obtained, after one-hour incubation at pH 7.5. From the pHPZC of 7.1 of the synthesized adsorbent, the electrostatic attraction between MB and Fe3O4 NPs plays an important role in the adsorption process. The adsorption experimental data showed the closest match with the pseudo-second-order kinetic and Langmuir isotherm. The prepared Fe3O4 NPs were easily recovered by an external magnet and could be reused several times. Therefore, the synthesized MNPs seem to be excellent adsorbents for the removal of MB from aqueous solution.

The purpose of the current study was to examine the effectiveness of mentalization-based treatment in improving the self-consciousness and quality of life of mothers who have children diagnosed with intellectual developmental disorder. The study was quasi-experimental in nature, employing a pretest-posttest control group design with a two-month follow-up period. The statistical sample for the spring and summer of 2021 comprised the mothers of children diagnosed with intellectual developmental disorder residing in the town of Ardebil. A purposive sampling method was employed to select 37 mothers of children diagnosed with intellectual developmental disorder. These mothers were then randomly assigned to either the experimental or control group. Over the course of two months, the mothers in the experimental group attended eight sessions of mentalization-based treatment. This research employed the Self-Conscious Affect Questionnaire (SCAQ) and the Quality of Life Questionnaire (FQLQ). The data were analyzed utilizing SPSS-25 software and the mixed variance analysis procedure. Positive self-conscious affect (F=42.86; Eta=0.55; P=0001), negative self-conscious affect (F=51.84; Eta=0.59; P=0001), and quality of life (F=33.93; Eta=0.49; P=0001) were all significantly improved by mentalization-based treatment in mothers of children with intellectual developmental disorder. On the basis of the study’s results and findings, it is possible to conclude that mentalization-based treatment can be an effective method for enhancing the quality of life and self-awareness of mothers of children with intellectual developmental disorder. This is accomplished through the use of mindfulness-related techniques, including those involving thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

Aim and Background: The purpose of this research is to compare the effectiveness of emotion regulation training and compassion-based therapy on psychological symptoms and risky behavior in working children. Materials and Methods: The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test, post-test design and control group. The statistical population of this research consisted of all the working children of Ahvaz city in 1400, and to collect data, 45 of the children were selected using a screening interview. They were selected in a purposeful way and after matching based on demographic characteristics in pairs and individuals and randomly assigned to 3 groups of 15 people, (experimental group with emotion regulation training (15 people), experimental group with compassion-based therapy) (15 people) and a control group (15 people) were assigned. At first, all participants completed the depression-anxiety-tension scale (Lavibond and Lavibond, 1995) and the risk-taking scale of Iranian adolescents (Zademohammadi et al., 2019), then the subjects The experimental groups were trained in emotion regulation and compassion-based therapy, while the subjects in the control group did not receive any intervention. After the interventions, all subjects completed the research questionnaires. To analyze the data, multivariate analysis of covariance and univariate analysis were used. Findings: The results showed that emotion regulation training and compassion-based therapy are effective on psychological symptoms and risky behavior (p≥0.05) and as a result of these interventions can reduce psychological symptoms and behavior. Background: Strengthening students with self-efficacy in emotional management and self-regulation can be a potent deterrent against risky behaviors. This study sought to explore the mediating effect of academic self-regulation on the relationship between risky behaviors and social competence among high school students with learning disabilities (LDs).Methods: This was a descriptive correlational study. The population encompassed all high school students with LDs in Ahvaz, Iran from February 2023 to April 2023. One hundred fifty-eight students were chosen using cluster sampling and received research questionnaires. The study tools comprised the Iranian Adolescents Risk-taking Scale (IARS), Social Competence Questionnaire (SCQ), and Academic Self-Regulation Questionnaire (SRQ-A). Using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), the hypothesized model underwent evaluation, and bootstrapping was utilized to assess indirect relationships. Data analysis was conducted with SPSS version 26 and AMOS version 25.Results: The mean and standard deviation (SD) for students’ risky behaviors, social competence, and academic self-regulation were 86.75±12.39, 112.18±24.25, and 42.05±9.86, respectively. Abstract Severe asthma is a chronic inflammatory airway disease with great therapeutic challenges. Understanding the genetic and molecular mechanisms of severe asthma may help identify therapeutic strategies for this complex condition. RNA expression data were analyzed using a combination of artificial intelligence methods to identify novel genes related to severe asthma. Through the ANOVA feature selection approach, 100 candidate genes were selected among 54,715 mRNAs in blood samples of patients with severe asthmatic and healthy groups. A deep learning model was used to validate the significance of the candidate genes. The accuracy, F1-score, AUC-ROC, and precision of the 100 genes were 83%, 0.86, 0.89, and 0.9, respectively. To discover hidden associations among selected genes, association rule mining was applied. The top 20 genes including the PTBP1, RAB11FIP3, APH1A, and MYD88 were recognized as the most frequent items among severe asthma association rules. The PTBP1 was found to be the most frequent gene associated with severe asthma among those 20 genes. PTBP1 was the gene most frequently associated with severe asthma among candidate genes. Identification of master genes involved in the initiation and development of asthma can offer novel targets for its diagnosis, prognosis, and targeted-signaling therapy.

Osteoporosis-pseudoglioma syndrome (OPPG) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by severe osteoporosis and eye abnormalities that lead to vision loss. In this study, clinical findings and genetic study of two siblings with OPPG are presented. Whole exome sequencing of DNA enriched for exonic regions was performed with SureSelect 38Mbp all exon kit v. 7.0. The two siblings presented with different clinical manifestations of OPPG. The younger female sibling had blindness and severe osteoporosis with multiple fractures, while her older brother was also blind but with less severe osteoporosis and no fractures. On analysis, a novel homozygous nonsense mutation (c.351G>A) in exon 2 of LRP5 (NM_002335) was found, predicted to change a tryptophan at 117 to a stop codon (p. Trp117Ter). Thus, a variable phenotype was associated with an identical variant in these two siblings. The novel mutation reported herein expands the spectrum of the underlying genetic pathology of OPPG.

Background and Aims having children with intellectual disability can cause psychological, emotional and social problems for the parents, especially mothers. The present study aims to examine the effect of dialectic behavior therapy (DBT) on self-conscious emotions and family quality of life (QoL) in mothers of children with intellectual disability.Methods This is a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test/post-test/ follow-up design. The study population consists of all mothers of children with intellectual disability in Ardebil, Iran in 2021. Of these, 37 were selected using a purposive sampling method and randomly divided into intervention and control groups. The mothers in the intervention group received eight sessions of DBT for two months. Tangney et al.’s test of self-conscious affect and the beach center family QoL scale were used in this study. The data were analyzed using mixed ANOVA.Results The DBT had a significant effect on positive self-conscious affect (F=75.20; Eta squared=0.68; P=0001), negative self-conscious affect (F=45.19; Eta squared =0.56; P=0001) and family QoL (F=71.74; Eta squared=0.67; P=0001) in mothers.Conclusion The DBT can improve self-conscious emotions and family QoL in mothers of children with intellectual disability by employing techniques such as distress tolerance, mindfulness, and emotional regulation.

Background and Aims: The evaluation of the results of health transformation plan in dentistry, which started in March 2016 with the aim of improving oral and dental health, is extremely important in order to improve planning for future actions. Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effect of the health transformation plan on common oral health indices in Guilan province in Iran. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional analytical study was performed using the Health Deputy of Guilan University of Medical Sciences data and results of the general population and housing census of the 2010 and 2015. Data analysis was done using Ordinary Least Squares regression method, considering dependent variables including DMFT, dmft and periodontal disease indices (CPI) and independent variables including gender, education, urban or rural residence, percentage of 13-year-old population, illiteracy rate, fertility rate and being or not in the transformation plan, to investigate the difference between the two groups before and after the implementation of the transformation plan in terms of variables and to examine the relationship between independent and dependent variables.
