Wettability is an important attribute of coal dust suppressant, which directly affects the effect of dust suppressant on coal dust. Four surfactants, AEO-9, SDS, Tween 85, and sodium oleate, and two kinds of local coal dust in Ningxia were selected as the research objects, infrared spectroscopy, XPS analysis, zeta potential, sedimentation experiment, dynamic contact angle test and other classic testing methods were used to study the influence of coal surface functional groups and surface charge changes on wettability. In addition, the effect of coal pore structure and adsorption amount on wettability was explored by UV spectrophotometry and low-temperature nitrogen adsorption method. The results showed that the nonionic surfactant fatty AEO-9 and the anionic surfactant SDS had the best wetting effect on the two kinds of coal dust, the main reason is that the two surfactants are adsorbed stably with different functional groups on the surface of coal dust, and the adsorption rate is fast and the adsorption capacity is large at the same concentration.
