Objective We aim to summarized and analyzed characteristics of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 1 (MEN-1) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 2 (MEN-2) cases with other malignant tumors which not belong to MEN components. Methods The clinical data from patients with MEN-1 or MEN-2 in Peking Union Medical College Hospital from April 2012 to April 2022 were collected. Mutations of MEN1or RET were identified by Sanger sequencing or MLPA in MEN-1 or MEN-2 patients who were diagnosed with malignant tumors which not belong to MEN-1 components. Results A total of 221 patients were diagnosed of MEN-1, in which, 23(11.61%) patients were found to have malignant tumors not belong to MEN-1 components, including papillary thyroid carcinoma (4.52%), breast cancer (1.81%), urologic neoplasms (1.35%), Primary hepatic carcinoma (0.09%), meningeal sarcoma(0.05%), glioblastoma(0.05%), cervical cancer (0.05%), lung carcinoma（0.05%. The prevalence of endocrine neoplasm especially gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors were higher in MEN-1 patients with other malignant tumors compared to MEN-1 patients without malignant tumors. 76 patients were diagnosed of MEN-2, 2 (2.63%) patients were identified with papillary thyroid carcinoma and lung cancer respectively. Conclusion MEN-1 patients have a higher risk of developing malignant tumors than the general population, especially breast cancer, papillary thyroid carcinoma and urologic neoplasms. The specific mechanism is still unclear, but the clinical manifestations of MEN-1 patients with malignant tumors were more severe than those without malignant tumors.

Two new lappaconitine-type C

Isovalent and aliovalent substitutions in the cationic and anionic sites of Ca4(La4Pr2)(SiO4)4(PO4)2O2 and Ba4(La4Pr2)(SiO4)4(PO4)2O2 ceramics were explored in this study. Substitutions of (SiO4)4− ions with (GeO4)4− in Ca4(La4Pr2)(SiO4)4(PO4)2O2 ceramic increased its densification temperature and thus led to a significant grain growth; however, replacement of Ca2+ and (PO4)3− ions by Mg2+ ions and (VO4)3− ions, respectively, decreased its densification temperature and resulted in grain refinement. Various rare-earth-metal and (WO4)2− ion substitutions on La3+ and Pr3+ and (PO4)3− sites, respectively, of Ca4(La4Pr2)(SiO4)4(PO4)2O2 ceramic had no impact on the sintering temperature. In the case of Ca4(La4Pr2)(SiO4)4(PO4)2O2 apatite with Mg2+ and (WO4)2− ion substitutions, second phases were observed in the x-ray diffraction patterns; however, only the pure hexagonal apatite phase with space group P63/m was visible in all the other systems. Overall, Ca4(La2Nd2Pr2)(SiO4)4(PO4)2O2 ceramic has the best microwave dielectric properties including er = 14.2, Q × f = 28,745 GHz and τf = 0.9 ppm/°C. The densification temperatures of Ba4(La4Pr2)(SiO4)4(PO4)2O2 ceramics decreased as the SiO44− and PO43− ions were substituted by WO42− ions. The formation of the secondary phases BaWO4 and Ba2SiO4 decreased their dielectric constant and increased their Q × f values.

Ethnopharmacology relevance: Yunnan Baiyao (YNBY), a traditional Chinese medicine formulae, has some significant properties including activating blood circulation to dissipate blood stasis (Huo-Xue-Hua-Yu), eliminating swelling and alleviating pain (Xiao-Zhong-Zhi-Tong), and eliminating necrotic tissues and promoting granulation (Qu-Fu-Sheng-Ji).Aim of this study: This paper intends to provide a comprehensive and critical analysis of studies on YNBY, proposing new possible therapeutic directions of this formula.Materials and methods: Relevant data on YNBY were retrieved from available databases and a hand-search by searching the keywords such as “Yunnan Baiyao,” “pharmacology,” “toxicity,” and “clinical applications.”Results: Traditionally, YNBY has been used to cure hemorrhage, bruises, swelling, and pain caused by injuries in the Chinese folk. Modern pharmacological studies show that YNBY possesses pharmacological activities including hemostasis, invigorating the circulation of blood, wound healing, anti-inflammation, analgesia, antibiosis, infection prevention, and other effects. Toxicological studies demonstrate that YNBY has a certain toxicology, which is mainly caused by Aconitum alkaloids from Cao-wu (CW, Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix). The developmental non-toxic reaction dose (NOAEL) of YNBY for embryos and fetuses is 0.5 g/kg in rats. In addition, the NOAEL for fertility and early embryo development toxicity is 4.0 g/kg in rats. Clinical trials have confirmed the safety of YNBY in a large number of patients, and adverse drug reactions (ADRs) such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, allergy, and others in very few people. YNBY is routinely used in clinic to cure bleeding, pain, swelling, upper digestive tract ulcer, postoperative wound, arthritis, mouth ulcers, ulcerative colitis, etc.Conclusions: Hemostasis is a conspicuous effect of YNBY. Except for this effect, analgesia and anti-infection may be new research directions of this formula. In addition, the in vitro and in vivo pharmacology and mechanisms of action of YNBY are encouraged as well as the pharmacokinetics of this formulae. Furthermore, the material basis of the pharmacological effects of YNBY also needs clear identification.

The concentrations of 22 endocrine disrupting chemicals, including 4 categories of sex hormones, progesterones, glucocorticoids, and phenolic hormones, in groundwater of Wuxi-Changzhou were analyzed using solid-phase extraction and ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) composed of metal ions and organic ligands via the coordination bonds have evolved as an emerging class of functional materials showing promising applications in the fluorescent detection and biomedicine, however, seldom reports combine the two properties in one type of MOF-based materials. Herein, a novel metal–organic framework (MOF) material containing Eu(III) of {[Eu(HL)(H2O)](DMF)3(H2O)4}n (1) based on 9-(2,6-dicarboxy-pyridin-4-yl)-9H-carbazole-3,6-dicarboxylic acid (H4L), a tetracarboxylic ligand, has been prepared under the solvothermal conditions. Furthermore, this Eu-MOF reflects strong red luminescence and outstanding water stability, which in-depth demonstrate it is a kind of luminescent sensor with highly sensitive and selective for the Cr2O72–, and it possesses low limit of detection and high coefficient of quenching. More importantly, complex 1 could be reused at least for fives without loss of the detection performance and framework integrity, which is quite rare among MOF-based sensors for Cr2O72–. In addition, the treatment effect of compound against the uterine fibroids was assessed in biological research. The detection of enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was firstly conducted to determine the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) content levels produced by the endometrial cells. Next, the mmp7 and mmp3 relative expression levels in the endometrial cells were detected via the real time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method.

The spr0693-spr0694-spr0695 operon of Streptococcus pneumoniae encodes a putative ATP-binding cassette (ABC)-type efflux pump involved in the resistance of antibiotics and antimicrobial peptides. Here we report the crystal structures of Spr0694–0695 at 3.3 Å and Spr0693 at 3.0 Å resolution, revealing a MacAB-like efflux pump. The dimeric Spr0694–0695 adopts a non-canonical fold of ABC transporter, the transmembrane domain of which consists of eight tightly packed transmembrane helices with an insertion of extracellular domain between the first and second helices, whereas Spr0693 forms a nanotube channel docked onto the ABC transporter. Structural analyses combined with ATPase activity and antimicrobial susceptibility assays, enable us to propose a putative substrate-entrance tunnel with a lateral access controlled by a guard helix. Altogether, our findings provide structural insights and putative transport mechanism of a MacAB-like efflux pump in Gram-positive bacteria., Bacterial ATP-binding cassette (ABC)-type efflux pumps are involved in the resistance of antibiotics and antimicrobial peptides. Here authors report the crystal structures and ATPase activity of the MacAB-like efflux pump from Streptococcus pneumonia and describe a putative substrate transport mechanism.

B cell malignancies are classified as different types such as B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and B cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) based on cell surface expression of various clusters of differentiation molecules. CD19 is a B cell lineage-specific antigen which is expressed on malignant B cells in patients with B-ALL, CLL and NHL. Adoptive transfer of T cells that are genetically modified to express a CD19-specific chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) represents a promising clinical strategy for patients with B cell malignancies. CD19-CAR T cell therapy has achieved high response rates and durable remissions on B cell malignancies. However, the efficacy of CAR-T therapy is still inefficient and the critical factors for better efficacy remain unclear. In this review, we summarized the critical factors for better efficacy of CD19 CAR-T cells in B-lineage malignancies including B-ALL, B-CLL and lymphoma. T cell persistence, lymphodepletion regimen, CD3/CD28 beads treatment and no IL-2 administration to T cells were positively associated with better responses. The method of enhancing the persistence of CAR-T cells need to be further optimized in order to improve the clinical efficacy in the treatment of B cell malignancies. In order to improve the therapeutic effect of CAR-T therapy, new therapeutic strategies should be developed to make factors which influence efficacy the more beneficial.

Many articles have confirm that neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio(NLR) and platelet–lymphocyte ratio (PLR) are relate with poor prognosis in various types of tumors. Objective: To investigate the association between NLR/PLR and progression free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS) and clinicopathologic parameters in lung cancer patients. Design: We performed relevant searches in PubMed database, Google Scholar, Springer Link. We included retrospective cohort studies that reported hazard ratios with 95% confidence intervals for the NLR or PLR and PFS or OS. Results: Both high NLR ( P < 0.00001) and high PLR ( P = 0.01) were significantly predictive of poorer OS. It also demonstrated that elevated NLR predicted poorer PFS ( P = 0.0002). High NLR was significantly associated with deeper Invasive of tumor, ( P = 0.006) extensive lymph nodetastasis(N2–3) ( P = 0.01), poor differentiation ( P = 0.0002) and vascular invasion( P = 0.002).There was no evidence of publication bias. Subgroup analysis indicated that little evidence of heterogeneity. However, PLR has no prognostic significance for SCLC. Conclusions: We provides further evidence in support of elevated NLR and PLR were predictors of poor OS and PFS in patients with lung cancer. Given this, NLR and PLR may be markers to report treatment outcomes.

Zr and its alloys have excellent mechanical properties as new structural material, but in specific application environment, its corrosion resistance still needs to be further explored. In this work, double glow plasma surface alloying technique was used for copperizing on pure Zr surface. Besides, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersion spectrum (EDS) were employed to characterize the samples. Furthermore, research was also conducted on the polarization curve of the samples in different solutions. Copperizing on surface can improve corrosion resistance of pure Zr in 3.5 % NaCl and 0.5 mol·L−1 NaOH solutions. Especially in 0.5 mol·L−1 NaOH solution, the corrosion resistance can achieve significant improvement. However, copperizing has no influence on the improvement of corrosion resistance of pure Zr in 0.5 mol·L−1 H2SO4 solution. The results may provide new insight into way for improving the corrosion property of zirconium alloys.

Though some important progress in the excellent mechanical properties of zirconium alloys have been reported, their high surface hardness and good wear properties need to be explored further. In this work, a carburized layer was formed on the surface of commercially pure zirconium by a double glow plasma hydrogen-free carburizing technique. Commercial high-purity graphite was used as the carbon source material. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), Vickers hardness test, friction and wear test were used to characterize the samples carburized. The carburized layer could be clearly observed under a microscope. XRD patterns indicate that the zirconium carbide phase is formed in the carburized layer. The surface hardness of the sample increases significantly after carburization. Friction and wear tests results show that wear resistance and friction coefficient of zirconium are improved considerably after carburization. Surface plastic deformation is arrested to a low extent in contrast with pure zirconium because of the presence of ZrC phases during the wear test. The results may provide new insight into methods for surface strengthening of zirconium alloys. Severe hyperthyroidism can cause the injuries of multiple organs including heart and liver and ultimately be fatal. A 26-year-old young woman admitted to Peking Union Medical College Hospital for severe hyperthyroidism due to irregular use of anti-thyroid drugs. She had heart failure,atrial fibrillation,and severe liver damage at admission. Anti-thyroid drugs were then actively used to treat the primary disease,along with interventions to correct heart failure and control atrial fibrillation. Severe total bilirubin elevation was found during the treatment, which was resolved after the use of glucocorticoid and liver-protective therapy. The patient was regularly followed up after discharge,and the clinical manifestations were good.

Thehigh-frequency angular micro-vibration on satellite platform results in theoptical axis pointing decreasing accuracy. The Kalman filtering based on attitudeinformation fusion method is presented to solve this case and improve the pointing accuracy of attitude determination. Thesimulation results indicate that the estimated accuracy of Kalman filteringattitude information fusion method is better than the result only fromconventional low frequency sensor. Accordingly, the attitude information fusionmethod is verified and accuracy.

A systematic examination was conducted for the first time of a wide carbon-chain range of per- and polyfluoroalkyl compounds (PFASs) in 83 samples of edible vegetable and animal oils from Guiyang, China. The occurrence and levels of 18 PFASs in seven types of edible oil were analysed. Analytes were determined based on a simplified, sensitive and reliable solvent extraction and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method. Ten target PFASs were found and the most frequently detected compounds with maximum concentration were PFOS (88%, 1.93 ng g–1), PFNA (55.4%; 6.76 ng g–1), PFHxS (39.8%; 0.36 ng g–1), and PFOA (16.9%; 0.15 ng g–1), respectively. The total PFASs concentrations ranged from 0.02 to 6.76 ng g–1, with a mean of 0.94 ng g–1. Significant differences of occurrence between vegetable oils and animal oils were demonstrated based on comparative analysis of the existing data. A physical model based on similarity principles was built to simulate RH desulfurization process. In order to quantitatively analyze RH desulfurization process, a mathematical model was proposed. By analyzing experimental results with the mathematical model, an empirical formula whose determination coefficient was 0.98 was given to express the relationship between transient desulfurization efficiency and time. All the determination coefficients of four fitted curves based on four repeated experiments with different gas flow rates were more than 0.94, which was the exact evidence of the rationality of the empirical formula. Meanwhile, it was found that transient desulfurization ability increased firstly and then decreased with increasing gas flow rate and reached the maximum value when the gas flow rate was 1.8 m3/h. A plenty of repeated trials showed the same rule, which validated the mathematical model and the conclusions obtained from physical experiments.

In analytical chemistry, particle diameter is very important during the sample preparation. A model is presented describing the effects of particle diameter on the content of analyte determines the size of the particle; and the particle size determines the weight of samples and relative standard deviation in the results. This new methodology for the optimisation of physical sample preparation is applied for the first time. Based on this relationship, we can find an extensive application in analytical chemistry.

Protein glycosylation catalyzed by the O-GlcNAc transferase (OGT) plays a critical role in various biological processes. In Streptococcus pneumoniae, the core enzyme GtfA and co-activator GtfB form an OGT complex to glycosylate the serine-rich repeat (SRR) of adhesin PsrP (pneumococcal serine-rich repeat protein), which is involved in the infection and pathogenesis. Here we report the 2.0 Å crystal structure of GtfA, revealing a β-meander add-on domain beyond the catalytic domain. It represents a novel add-on domain, which is distinct from the all-α-tetratricopeptide repeats in the only two structure-known OGTs. Structural analyses combined with binding assays indicate that this add-on domain contributes to forming an active GtfA-GtfB complex and recognizing the acceptor protein. In addition, the in vitro glycosylation system enables us to map the O-linkages to the serine residues within the first SRR of PsrP. These findings suggest that fusion with an add-on domain might be a universal mechanism for diverse OGTs that recognize varying acceptor proteins/peptides.

The local self-similarity descriptor is a kind of important image or video local feature description method. It is often used for detection, identification and recognition. In this paper we propose a new local self-similarity descriptor based on structural similarity (SSIM) index. It is showed in this paper that the SSIM Index give very different answers to the question of how self-similar local patches really are. For a given image we compute SSIM index distances between representations for all pairs of spatial-patches and store the results in a Self-Similarity Matrix (SSM) defined as the local feature descriptor. This new method is easily extended to the wavelet representation of images. Comparative evaluation of local feature descriptor with previous methods demonstrates improved performance.

The reconstruction and reutilization of the deserted industrial zone is a good way to review industrial economy and sustain the city context. In Xian, the culture center in the world, many textile factories were built around liberation and now there remains a lot of modern industrial heritage. Taking the environment renewal of Dahua Cotton Mill in Xian as the case, the thesis analyses its course of history, value and significance as well as the current situation, explores the way of reconstruction and reutilization of the deserted industrial zone. It argues that the reconstruction and reutilization of the deserted industrial zone can solve the environmental and social problem resulted from its function decline and continue city context.

Non‐alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) describes a spectrum of liver conditions from simple steatosis, steatohepatitis to end‐stage liver disease. The prevalence of NAFLD has been on the rise in many parts of the world, including Asia, and NAFLD is now the liver disease associated with the highest mortality, consequent to the increased risk of cardiovascular diseases and hepatocellular carcinoma. Whereas NAFLD is an independent risk factor for type 2 diabetes, increased hepatic and peripheral insulin resistance contribute to the pathogenesis of both NAFLD and diabetes, which are associated with enhanced cardiovascular risk. Studies in humans and animal models have suggested obesity as the common link of these two diseases, likely mediated by adipose tissue inflammation and dysregulated adipokine production in obesity. In the present review, we discuss recent advances in our understanding of the role of several novel adipokines (adiponectin, adipocyte fatty acid binding protein and fibroblast growth factor‐21) in the pathophysiology of NAFLD and diabetes, as well as their use as potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for dysglycemia in NAFLD patients.

To better control green tea’s quality, brand-name green tea was chosen (green tea with one bud) as the research subject in this study. With the combination of chemical quantitation value for concentrations of tea’s water extract, Near Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy combined with partial least squares (NIRS-PLS) was used to build a quantitative analysis model for water extract. As shown in results, the Correction Correlation Coefficient (Rc) value of water extract is 0.9547, and the values of Root Mean Square Error of Prediction（RMSEP）is 1.18. Therefore, this method can be used to control the quality of tea in its production. It also accelerates the application and popularization of NIRS analytical technique in tea industry. Furthermore, it attaches great important to the development of tea industry.

Protein O-glycosylation is an important post-translational modification in all organisms, but deciphering the specific functions of these glycans is difficult due to their structural complexity. Understanding the glycosylation of mucin-like proteins presents a particular challenge as they are modified numerous times with both the enzymes involved and the glycosylation patterns being poorly understood. Here we systematically explored the O-glycosylation pathway of a mucin-like serine-rich repeat protein PsrP from the human pathogen Streptococcus pneumoniae TIGR4. Previous works have assigned the function of 3 of the 10 glycosyltransferases thought to modify PsrP, GtfA/B, and Gtf3 as catalyzing the first two reactions to form a unified disaccharide core structure. We now use in vivo and in vitro glycosylation assays combined with hydrolytic activity assays to identify the glycosyltransferases capable of decorating this core structure in the third and fourth steps of glycosylation. Specifically, the full-length GlyE and GlyG proteins and the GlyD DUF1792 domain participate in both steps, whereas full-length GlyA and the GlyD GT8 domain catalyze only the fourth step. Incorporation of different sugars to the disaccharide core structure at multiple sites along the serine-rich repeats results in a highly polymorphic product. Furthermore, crystal structures of apo- and UDP-complexed GlyE combined with structural analyses reveal a novel Rossmann-fold "add-on" domain that we speculate to function as a universal module shared by GlyD, GlyE, and GlyA to forward the peptide acceptor from one enzyme to another. These findings define the complete glycosylation pathway of a bacterial glycoprotein and offer a testable hypothesis of how glycosyltransferase coordination facilitates glycan assembly.

The casting and solidification process of the bimetallic composite pipe were simulated by ProCAST software aiming at the misrun defect in the pipe. The causes of defect were analyzed from the factors of the pouring temperature, pouring time, preheating temperature of mold and the height of sprue. Reasonable improvements were presented based on the simulation results. Industrial tests showed that misrun defect disappeared after the process was improved, which in turn verified the effectiveness and reliability of simulation results.

Informatization of food safety supervision overviews in China and some other countries were studied. With the combination of food safety supervision characteristics in Guizhou and quality system requirements for national food inspection laboratory, information management system for food safety in Guizhou was proposed. A knowledge database for categorizing determination factors of food hazard was established. This system was implemented in the food safety supervision of circulation links in Guizhou for 3 years (2009-2011). It solved problems such as quality control for massive sampling inspections and data analysis. Besides improving work efficiency, it provided scientific basis for decision making of food safety supervision to government as well as data support for food safety forecasting and warning system.

The spheroidization of the carbide of hot-deformed GCr15 bearing steel was investigated in cyclic annealing process. The results show that most of carbide particles become gradually smaller and more dispersed with the increase of process cycle, however, part of them start to grow for the four cycles, the growth agrees well with Ostwald Ripening Law, and it is not suitable for the further process.

Objective To assess the prevalence of anti-alpha-enolase antibody in systemic autoimmune diseases in Chinese patients and its role in endothelial cell apoptosis. Methods The reactivity of anti-alpha-enolase antibody in a variety of autoimmune disorders in Chinese patients was evaluated by dot blot assay. Endothelial cell apoptosis was investigated by in vitro incubation of endothelial cells with IgG purified from anti-alpha-enolase antibody-positive sera, with or without pre-incubation with recombinant alpha-enolase. Results Anti-alpha-enolase antibody was prevalent in different systemic autoimmune diseases with relatively high reactivity in Chinese patients. In vitro incubation of endothelial cells with IgG containing anti-alpha-enolase antibody induced apoptosis in a time- and dose-dependent manner. Apoptosis was partly inhibited by pre-incubation of the endothelial cells with recombinant alpha-enolase. Conclusions Our data suggest that alpha-enolase is a common auto-antigen recognized by anti-endothelial cell antibodies in connective tissue disease. Interaction between alpha-enolase and its autoantibody plays a role in endothelial cell apoptosis. Changes other than cell killing may contribute to the pathogenesis of endothelial damage and microvascular lesions.

Cementite spheroidization of GCr15 bearing steel includes granulating and growth of cementite. The effects of divorced eutectoid transformation (DET) temperatures on growth of cementite were studied. It was found that the particles of cementite are fine and uniform when DET occurs at 690～720°С, and alloy elements mostly precipitate at different temperatures during cementite growth of GCr15 bearing steel; Cr and Si mostly precipitate in the eutectoid temperature upper limit, while Mn is in the eutectoid temperature lower limit.

Water-preservation mining is one of the most important parts of the ‘Green Mining’ technology system, which can realize the effective regulation of groundwater resources by controlling strata movement, changing passive prevention and governance of water disasters to active conservation and utilization of groundwater resources and thus obtaining coal and water simultaneously in mining. The concept of water-resistant key strata further enriches the content of the key stratum theory and provides a theoretical basis for water-preservation mining. In order to realize the idea of water-resistant key strata as a guideline in the design of water-preservation mining and engineering applications, the conditions for discrimination in the process of water-resistant key strata, we have presented a mechanical model, as well as its corresponding computer program, based on a large number of theoretical analyses and field measurements, as well as on a comprehensive consideration of the position, structural stability and seepage stability of key strata. Practical engineering applications indicate that this discrimination method and its corresponding computer program on water-resistant key strata are accurate and reliable and can satisfy the actual design needs of water-preservation mining and thus have instructional importance for water-preservation mining in mining areas lacking water.

Failure depth of coal seam floors is one of the important considerations that must be kept in mind when mining is carried out above a confined aquifer. In order to study the factors that affect the failure depth of coal seam floors such as mining depth, coal seam pitch, mining thickness, workface length and faults, we propose a combined artificial neural networks (ANN) prediction model for failure depth of coal seam floors on the basis of existing engineering data by using genetic algorithms to train the ANN. A practical engineering application at the Taoyuan Coal Mine indicates that this method can effectively determine the network structure and training parameters, with the predicted results agreeing with practical measurements. Therefore, this method can be applied to relevant engineering projects with satisfactory results.

To our knowledge, only eleven cases of primary anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) of the lung have previously been reported. We describe here another two cases of primary pulmonary ALCL that developed in two Chinese women. Both patients presented with insidious symptoms related to pulmonary mass or nodule lesions. A comprehensive workup failed to show disease outside the chest. CD30-positive ALCL was demonstrated by histopathological studies of the lung tissue. Both patients were treated with 6 cycles of CHOP (cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine and prednisone) chemotherapy and had complete remission. Primary pulmonary lymphoma is a great challenge for pneumologists since the clinical presentations and radiological findings are nonspecific. Appropriate invasive biopsy is necessary for early diagnosis.

We gave an analysis about the wavelength-division multiplexing isolation filter consisted of two concatenated long period fiber grating (LPFG), and the numerical simulation was performed by transfer matrix method. The key factors in design this high performance filter was proposed. Based on the key factors, flat transmission spectrum of the LPFG in range of 80 nm was obtained by the particle swarm optimization algorithm. The simulation results demonstrate that such type of isolation filters have equal frequency spacing, high isolation, and neglectable dispersion in the pass band, and the channel spacing can be tuned by tuning the fiber length between the two concatenated LPGs.

The general analytic expression of the chirped sampled function is derived based on coupled mode theory. This function can be used to describe how to use uniform period fiber Bragg grating to produce the equal chirp at will in the specific reflection channel. As an example, the exact sampled function expression that produces a linear chirped at the +4 channel is given. The simulation results by using the transfer-matrix show that the theory is correct.

The objective of this paper is to investigate the concentrations and distribution characteristics of heavy metals in surface sediments of different areas in the Caohai plateau wetland. 16 samples of surface sediments were collected and 7 heavy metals were analyzed. Heavy metal pollution in surface sediments of different areas in the Caohai plateau wetland was estimated by the Tomlinson Pollution Load Index (PLI) method. The analyzed results indicated that the average contents of Cd, Hg, As, Pb, Cr, Cu, Zn were 0.985, 0.345, 15.8, 38.9, 38.6, 22.8 and 384 mg x kg(-1), respectively. The heavy metal distributions varied with regional environment changes, the order of average contents of Cd and Hg in different regions was E (the eastern region)S (the southern region)N (the northern region), the order of the average content of Pb was NES, and that of Zn was SEN. The results also suggested a medium heavy metal pollution level in the surface sediment of the Caohai plateau wetland with the PLI(zone) reaching 1.17. The order of pollution level in surface sediments of different regions was ESN. The results showed medium pollution levels in E and Hg which reached the extreme intensity pollution level were also the major polluted elements in surface sediments of the Caohai plateau wetland. And also, results showed medium pollution levels of Cd and Pb in surface sediments of Caohai plateau wetland. Cluster analysis results showed similar pollution sources of Cd, Zn, Pb and Hg, which should be attached great importance in terms of the prevention of the Caohai plateau wetland.

microRNAs (miRNAs) are short noncoding RNAs that have been found in a wide variety of organisms and many have been shown to play essential roles by regulating the stability and translation of target messenger RNAs (mRNAs) in animals and plants. Temporal and spatial expression is critical for the regulatory function of miRNAs. To analyze the dynamic expression of particular miRNA in vivo, we constructed a dual-fluorescence reporter system based on Tol2 transposon, in which two reporter genes, enhanced green fluorescent protein (eGFP) and monomeric red fluorescent protein 1 (mRFP1), were driven by the heat shock promoter (hsp) from zebrafish hsp70 gene in an opposite orientation. To sense the existence of a particular miRNA, the complementary DNA sequence of the corresponding miRNA was inserted into the 3'-UTR region of one of the two reporter genes. By injecting the corresponding plasmid DNA into zebrafish embryos, we were able to monitor the abundance and dynamics of miRNA miR-206 in live embryos. To further evaluate this method, we made a collection of transgenic zebrafish with stable integration of dual-fluorescence reporter plasmids targeting different miRNAs, including miR-206 and miR-219. Our results showed that this dual-fluorescence reporter system, which is also called miRNA Tracer, could faithfully monitor the appearance and disappearance of target miRNAs in defined cell lineages during zebrafish development in these fish lines. Our dual-fluorescence reporter/Tracer system provides an important tool for further in-depth studies on miRNAs in zebrafish.

To evaluate the clinical and angiographic outcomes of vasospastic angina patients with severe organic stenosis treated by drug-eluting stents.Between January 2006 and December 2010, severe organic stenosis (diameter stenosis more than 70%) was evidenced in 7 out of 46 vasospastic angina patients and treated with drug-eluting stents. Coronary angiography was repeated at 6 - 18 months after percutaneous coronary intervention and the patients were clinically followed up. The clinical and angiographic outcomes were observed.Nine drug-eluting stents [mean diameter 2.75 - 3.50 (3.08 ± 0.24) mm, length 24 - 33 (27.3 ± 3.6) mm] were successfully implanted in these 7 patients. Stents were implanted into left anterior descending artery (LAD) in 5 patients (71.4%), right coronary artery (RCA) in 1 patient (14.3%), both LAD and RCA in 1 patient (14.3%). Transient RCA spasm and distal LAD spasm were observed during percutaneous coronary intervention of LAD in 2 patients. Anginal attack at rest with transient ST segment elevation at V(1)-V(3) leads occurred 24 hours after LAD stenting in 1 patient. Follow-up coronary angiography showed significant in-stent restenosis or focal edge restenosis (diameter stenosis more than 50%) in 3 patients (42.9%), mild neointimal proliferation but without significant restenosis in 2 patients (28.6%), and no neointimal proliferation in 2 patients (28.6%). During clinical follow-up of 17 to 50 months after percutaneous coronary intervention, 2 patients (28.6%) remained asymptomatic, while effort angina and/or rest angina was documented in the remaining 5 patients (71.4%).Our results from this small patient cohort suggest that drug eluting stent implantation for severe organic stenosis in patients with vasospastic angina is linked with high incidence of restenosis and recurrent chest pain. Further observation in larger patient cohort is warranted to clarify the efficacy of this strategy for treating vasospastic angina patients with severe organic stenosis.

Autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ARPKD) is a rare inherited disease, which is a disorder with multiple organ involvement, mainly the kidney and liver. It is caused by mutations in the PKHD1 gene. Here, we reported the clinical characteristics of a case with ARPKD and analyze the genetic features of this patient as well as of his father using targeted exome sequencing and Sanger sequencing.Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood leukocytes obtained from a patient with ARPKD. The mutations were identified using exome sequencing and confirmed by Sanger sequencing.The patient was diagnosed as ARPKD based on ultrasonography and abdominal computed tomography which showed polycystic changes, multiple calcinosis of both kidneys, and multiple dilated bile ducts of the liver. Compound heterozygous PKHD1 gene mutations A979G and G5935A, which lead to substitution of an asparagine for an aspartate at amino acid 327 (N327D) and a glycine for an arginine at amino acid 1979 (G1979R) respectively, were identified using targeted exome sequencing and confirmed by Sanger sequencing for the patient. In addition, the father of the patient was identified to be a carrier of heterozygous A979G mutation of this gene.We identified that the compound heterozygous PKHD1 gene mutations are the molecular basis of the patient with ARPKD. Targeted exome sequencing is suitable for genetic diagnosis of single-gene inherited diseases like ARPKD in which the pathogenic gene is a large.

To study the effects of Zuojin Pill and Fanzuojin Pill (ZJP and FZJP) on the growth metabolism of enterobacteria from the biothermodynamic viewpoint, and to objectively validate the difference between the two drugs for investigating a new way in congener Chinese drugs research.The growth metabolism power-time curves of enterobacteria affected by ZJP and FZJP in different concentrations were obtained by microcalorimetry. And the activities of the two drugs were assessed depending some related characteristic parameters, including growth rate constant (k), maximum output power (P(max)), peak time (T(p)) , maximum heat-output (Q1), and bacteria inhibition rate (I).With the drugs' concentration increasing, T(p) was prolonged, k value reduced in enterobacteria, i.e. , the two drugs both inhibited the growth of enterobacteria in different extents. Comparison of inhibiting rates showed that the bacteriostasis activity of ZJP was greater than that of FZJP.There was objective difference in activities of inhibiting enterobacteria between ZJP and FZJP. Microcalorimetry could express the features at real-time, on-line and sensitively. It was able to determine the activity of drugs accurately and quickly in appraising congener Chinese drugs, like ZJP and FZJP, by microcalorimetry.

OOXML (Office Open XML) and ODF (Open Document Format) are the world's two major document format standards. The structure and some main components of the word processing document in OOXML and ODF are analysed and compared in detail. The results are the base of document interoperability between OOXML and ODF. Some valuable conclusions can be gotten that 1) Most components of the word processing document in one format have the logical counterpart in the other one, 2) Some components have no counterpart or some corresponding relationships between OOXML and ODF are very complicated. The latter point is one of the most important obstructions in the interoperability between OOXML and ODF.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the objectivity and authenticity of the difference of the Cold and Hot nature between Mahuang decoction and Maxingshigan decoction based on the cold/hot plate differentiating assay. METHOD The measuring time and dosage of Mahuang decoction and Maxingshigan decoction were investigated before the compliance experiment. Meanwhile, the activities of adenosine triphosphatase were detected in order to probe into the mechanism of their action. RESULT It was found that the drug dose should be 10 times amount to human dose (0.80 g x kg(-1) of Mahuang decoction and 2.26 g x kg(-1) of Maxing Shigan decoction) and the measuring time should be from 30 min to 60 min after administering. Compared with the control group, the remaining ratio of the mice treated with Mahuang decoction on the hot pad significantly decreased (P < 0.01). Compared with Mahuang decoction, the remaining ratio of the mice treated with Maxingshigan decoction on the hot pad significantly increased (P < 0.05). Compared with the control group, the Na(+) -K(+) -ATPase activity of liver tissue of the mice treated by Mahuang decoction significantly increased (P < 0.05), while the activity of Na(+) -K(+) -ATPase and Mg(2+) -Ca(2+) -ATPase of liver tissue of the mice treated by Maxingshigan decoction reduced significantly (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION This study showed that the differences of Cold and Hot nature of Mahuang decoction and Maxingshigan decoction were objectively existent from animal ethology, which was consistent with the traditional theroy of Chinese medicine. And the changes of ATPase activity of liver tissue might be the mechanism of drug action.

This study is to investigate the authenticity between COLD and HOT natural attribute in the famous Chinese medicine formulas--Zuojinwan (Coptis-Evodia 6 : 1) and Fanzuojinwan (Coptis-Evodia 1 : 6) based on mice temperature tropism, and establish an objective method to estimate the difference of two natural attribute by using a cold/hot plate differentiating technology. The results indicated that the COLD nature Zuojinwan could decrease significantly the remaining rate of HOT-symptom rat on warm pad (P0.05). That was not notable to COLD-symptom rat. The interference result of COLD-HOT temperature tropism to COLD/HOT symptom rat in Fanzuojinwan was the reverse with the COLD nature Zuojinwan. Meanwhile, biochemical indicators which are relative to energy metabolism such as ATPase enzyme activity and total anti-oxidant capability (T-AOC), had corresponding change in the organism. In the study, the COLD and HOT natural tendency in Zuojinwan and Fanzuojinwan which were composed by the same herbs with different proportion could be expressed qualitatively, quantitatively, objectively and directly with applying animal temperature tropism, and be verified to philosophical idea of treating disease theory with "expelling heat with cold herbs and cryopathy requiring warm prescription", not "expelling heat with heat herbs and cryopathy requiring cold prescription" in ancient traditional Chinese medicine, which brings a new approach in investigation of the nature theory of traditional Chinese medicine.

It is a problem in application-oriented personnel education that students are hard to apply their knowledge learning from classes. Problem-based learning (PBL) is now a widespread method which can help students learn to apply knowledge. But the teaching condition with limited resources is a big obstruction when using PBL in the undergraduate curriculum. Taking into account this problem, a problem-based teaching (PBT) method is proposed. In PBT, a teaching process is split to four steps: (1) Design a problem; (2) Analysis how to solve the problem; (3) Teach the related key knowledge through deposing and solving the problem. (4) Help students consolidate the new knowledge through solving similar problems. An example is given to illustrate how to use PBT in XML course.
