The present study aimed to investigate the effects of miR-504 in cervical cancer. Normal and cervical cancer tissue specimens derived from TCGA and GTEx databases were employed to analyze the miR-504 and PAICS (one of potential target gene of miR-504) expression. Kaplan–Meier strategy was applied to analyze the prognostic powers of miR-504 and PAICS. The proliferation, clonogenic ability, invasion, and migration of cervical cancer cells (C-33A and HeLa) were detected using Cell Counting Kit 8, colony formation, and transwell assays. Pearson correlation analysis was used to assess the correlation between miR-504 and PAICS, which was confirmed using luciferase reporter assay. The mRNA and protein levels were detected by qRT-PCR and western blot, respectively. TCGA data revealed that miR-504 expression might be decreased in cervical cancer, which was correlated with unfavorable prognosis. Further experiments exhibited that abnormal miR-504 expression negatively affected malignant cellular behaviors in cervical cancer, including proliferation, colony formation, invasion, and migration. PAICS was identified as a putative target of miR-504, and negatively related with miR-504 expression. PAICS expression was increased in cervical cancer and its high-regulation-induced worse outcomes of patients with cervical cancer. Rescue experiments indicated that PAICS restricted the impacts of miR-504 in cervical cancer cells. Analysis of western blot suggested that overexpression of PAICS overturned the miR-504-induced EMT inactivation. Our observations elucidated that miR-504, acting as a suppressor for the progression of cervical cancer, inhibits cell proliferation, invasion and migration, and mediates EMT via negatively regulating PAICS.

In molten LiCl salt at 973 K, Nd-Si alloy was successfully prepared by direct electro reduction of a mixed oxide of Nd2O3-SiO2 or Nd2O3-Si at a constant potential. The reduction mechanism was studied by CV through metal cavity electrode in conjunction with XRD, SEM and EDS results of the electrolytic products under different conditions. It was found that the reduction process of Nd2O3-SiO2 was carried out in two steps. First, SiO2 was reduced to elemental silicon, and then Nd2O3 was deposited on silicon to form Nd-Si alloys. In addition, the effects of the electrolysis voltage have been investigated. As a result, it was found that the reduction rate increased with the increasing of the electrolysis voltage, and it was easy to prepare pure Nd-Si alloys when the atomic content of silicon was 50% in the mixed oxides. This work first reported the preparation of Nd-Si alloy by direct electroreduction of its oxides.

Excessive nitric oxide (NO) causes extensive damage to the nervous system, and the adrenergic system is disordered in many neuropsychiatric diseases. However, the role of the adrenergic system in protection of the nervous system against sodium nitroprusside (SNP) injury remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the effect of ganoderic acid A (GA A) against SNP injury in neural cells and the role of adrenergic receptors in GA A neuroprotection. We found that SNP (0.125−2 mM) dose-dependently decreased the viability of both SH-SY5Y and PC12 cells and markedly increased NO contents. Pretreatment with GA A (10 μM) significantly attenuated SNP-induced cytotoxicity and NO increase in SH-SY5Y cells, but not in PC12 cells. Furthermore, pretreatment with GA A caused significantly higher adrenaline content in SH-SY5Y cells than in PC12 cells. In order to elucidate the mechanism of GA A-protecting SH-SY5Y cells, we added adrenaline, phentolamine, metoprolol, or ICI 118551 1 h before GA A was added to the culture medium. We found that addition of adrenaline (10 μM) significantly improved GA A protection in PC12 cells. The addition of β1-adrenergic receptor antagonist metoprolol (10 μM) or β2-adrenergic receptor antagonist ICI 118551 (0.1 μM) blocked the protective effect of GA A, whereas the addition of α-adrenergic receptor antagonist phentolamine (0.1 μM) did not affect GA A protection in SH-SY5Y cells. These results suggest that β-adrenergic receptors play an important role in the protection of GA A in SH-SY5Y cells against SNP injuries, and excessive adrenaline system activation caused great damage to the nervous system.

Eight previously undescribed compounds, two quinones (1–2), one sesquiterpene (3), and five phenol compounds (4–8), including three enantiomers (6a, 7a, and 8a), along with three corresponding known enantiomers (6b–8b) were isolated from the aerial parts of Morinda umbellata L. Their structures were elucidated by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and experimental and calculated ECD spectra, respectively. Compound 5 was found to have weak cytotoxity, which inhibited the growth of seven human cancer cell lines (A2780, HeLa, MCF-7, BGC-823, H7420, Ketr3 and SW 1990) with IC50 values from 13.3 to 15.1 μM.

BackgroundRenal angiomyolipoma without visible fat (RAML-wvf) and clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) have many overlapping features on imaging, which poses a challenge to radiologists. This study aimed to create a scoring system to distinguish ccRCC from RAML-wvf using computed tomography imaging.MethodsA total of 202 patients from 2011 to 2019 that were confirmed by pathology with ccRCC (n=123) or RAML (n=79) were retrospectively analyzed by dividing them randomly into a training cohort (n=142) and a validation cohort (n=60). A model was established using logistic regression and weighted to be a scoring system. ROC, AUC, cut-off point, and calibration analyses were performed. The scoring system was divided into three ranges for convenience in clinical evaluations, and the diagnostic probability of ccRCC was calculated.ResultsFour independent risk factors are included in the system: 1) presence of a pseudocapsule, 2) a heterogeneous tumor parenchyma in pre-enhancement scanning, 3) a non-high CT attenuation in pre-enhancement scanning, and 4) a heterogeneous enhancement in CMP. The prediction accuracy had an ROC of 0.978 (95% CI, 0.956–0.999; P=0.011), similar to the primary model (ROC, 0.977; 95% CI, 0.954–1.000; P=0.012). A sensitivity of 91.4% and a specificity of 93.9% were achieved using 4.5 points as the cutoff value. Validation showed a good result (ROC, 0.922; 95% CI, 0.854–0.991, P=0.035). The number of patients with ccRCC in the three ranges (0 to 4 to ≤11 points) significantly increased with increasing scores.ConclusionThis scoring system is convenient for distinguishing between ccRCC and RAML-wvf using four computed tomography features.

Fifteen new water-soluble alkaloids were obtained from the fresh herbs of Portulaca oleracea L. The structures of 15 alkaloids 1–15 were established according to spectroscopic data, and the stereoconfigurations were determined based on experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism (ECD) data and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Alkaloids 1–15 were found to display good anti-inflammatory activity at 10 μM and could significantly reduce the interleukin-6 (IL-6) and nitric oxide (NO) levels induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in RAW 264.7 macrophages.

The 95% ethanol extract and its EtOAc and n-BuOH fractions obtained from the leaves and twigs of Schefflera rubriflora C. J. Tseng & G. Hoo showed significant inhibitory activities (33.6%, 35.7% and 40.6%, respectively) against croton oil-induced ear inflammation in mice. Bioactivity-guided isolation and separation gave eight previously undescribed terpenes or terpene glycosides. Structural elucidation was based on UV, IR, and NMR spectroscopy, MS, experimental and calculated ECD data, and Mosher's method. To identify anti-inflammatory components from the extract, all the compounds were evaluated for tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukine-6 (IL-6) inhibitory activities. Four undescribed compounds inhibited mRNA expression of TNF-α and IL-6 with IC50 values of 15.3–52.4 μM.

Four undescribed racemic quinones, umbellatas Q−T, were isolated from the aerial parts of Morinda umbellata L. All enantiomers were separated on a chiral HPLC column, and their structures were elucidated by UV spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy, DP4+ NMR calculations, ECD spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. Three of the racemes are polycyclic anthraquinones, and one is a rare racemic trimer of naphthoquinone-bisnaphthohydroquinones. (+)-Umbellata S exhibited potent cytotoxicity (IC50: 6.2–9.3 μM) against the A2780, HeLa, H7420, Ketr3 and SW 1990 human cancer cell lines.

The tirucallane-type triterpenoids, composed of six isoprene units, belong to a group of tetracyclic triterpenoids. Although the naturally-derived tirucallane-type triterpenoids were found in a small amount, the kind of compounds showed various structures, which consist of apo-type, linear said-chain-type and cyclolike said-chain-type and broad bioactivities, such as cytotoxicity, anti-inflammation, antioxidation and anti-plasmin, etc. This paper summarized origins, structures and bioactivities of tirucallane-type triterpenoids in recent ten years. The future research and exploration of tirucallane-type triterpenoids were discussed and prospected.

Eight previously undescribed naphthohydroquinone glycosides, namely morindaparvins H–O, together with four known anthraquinone glycosides were isolated from the n-BuOH extract of the aerial parts of Morinda parvifolia Bartl. ex DC (Rubiaceae). The structures of morindaparvins H–O were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis. To our knowledge, this is the first isolation of quinone glycosides from the plant M. parvifolia. The results showed that all 12 compounds at the concentration of 50 μM significantly increased p53 mRNA expression in A2780 cells compared with the blank control group.

Schefflera rubriflora, a plant native to Yunnan Province in China, is often used to treat ailments such as neuropathic pain, tracheitis, and cough. However, the active components imparting these pharmacological effects are largely unexplored. In this study, five novel lignans and three new derivatives of benzoid or pyran were isolated from the leaves and twigs of S. rubriflora. The structures of these compounds were determined by the comprehensive analyses of the 1D and 2D NMR spectra and ESI mass spectra and a comparison of the obtained data with those of the literature data. All the compounds were tested for the inhibition of IL-6 expression. Three of the isolated compounds could inhibit the expression by 52% to 72%.

Understanding the photochromic mechanism of MOCs, regulating and controlling their structure and related photochromic properties is one of the focuses of chemistry and materials science. In this paper, two isoreticular metal-organic complexes have been synthesized by reaction of Zinc nitrite and H6ttha in the presence of bpee or bpea as co-ligand, respectively. The photochromic properties of complex 1 and 2 have been investigated. Even though both complexes holding similar framework, it is intriguing that complex 1 with conjugated co-ligand bpee displays remarkable photochromism property, but this photochromic phenomenon almost disappears in complex 2 when the conjugated co-ligand bpee is replaced by the non-conjugated coligand bpea. The possible photochromic mechanism is illustrated in detail. What's more, the relationship of structure-property has been discussed.

A new polynuclear Cu(II) compound, [Cu4(bpy)4(OH)4(H2O)(BTC)]NO3·8H2O (1), was prepared by self-assembly from the solution of copper(II) nitrate and two kinds of ligands, 2,2′-bipyridine (bpy) and benzene-tricarboxylic acid (H3BTC). Single crystal structure analysis reveals that 1 features a rare asymmetric chair-like hydroxyl-bridged tetra-copper cluster: [Cu4(OH)4] core along with one H2O and one BTC3− occupied each terminal coordinated site. In addition, the magnetic property has been investigated.

α-Glucosidase and lipase inhibitors play important roles in the treatment of hyperglycaemia and dyslipidemia. To identify novel naturally occurring inhibitors, a bioactivity-guided phytochemical research was performed on the pu-erh tea. One new flavanol, named (–)-epicatechin-3-O-(Z)-coumarate (1), and 16 known analogs (2—17) were isolated from the aqueous extract of the pu-erh tea. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic and chemical methods. Furthermore, the water extract of pu-erh tea and its fractions exhibited inhibitory activities against α-glucosidases and lipases in vitro; compound 15 showed moderate inhibitory effect against sucrase with an IC50 value of 32.5 μmol/L and significant inhibitory effect against maltase with an IC50 value of 1.3 μmol/L. Five unknown compounds, morindaparvins C-G, consisting of naphthohydroquinones, a naphthoquinone, an anthraquinone, and a naphthohydroquinone dimer, together with three known quinones and seven other known compounds, were isolated from the aerial parts of Morinda parvifolia. The structures of morindaparvins C, D, E, F, and G were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic or X-ray diffraction analysis as methyl 4-hydroxy-1,6-dimethoxy-naphthalene-2-carboxylate, methyl 4,8-dihydroxy-1-methoxy-naphthalene-2-carboxylate, 3-amino-6-methoxy-2-methoxycarbonyl-1,4-naphthoquinone, 1,4-dihydroxy-7-hydroxymethyl-anthraquinone, and dimethyl 1,1'-dihydroxy-4,4',7,7'-tetramethoxy-2,2'-binaphthalene-3,3'-dicarboxylate, respectively. Naphthoquinones and naphthohydroquinone dimers were previously unknown in the genus Morinda. In addition, the compounds were tested for cytotoxicity against four human cancer cell lines HeLa, A2780, Ketr3 and MCF-7 and their effects on p53-activated transcription. Three naphthoquinones had moderate cytotoxic effects with IC50 values ranging from 1.51 to 9.56 μM, through up-regulation of p53 transcriptional activity.

Although Morinda umbellata L. has been used in numerous folk medicines, there is a lack of phytochemical studies on this plant. Sixteen undescribed quinones, namely, ten anthraquinones (umbellatas A–J), one naphthohydroquinone (umbellata K), one naphthohydroquinone dimer (umbellata L), and four dinaphthofuran quinones (umbellatas M–P), were isolated from the aerial parts of Morinda umbellata L. (Rubiaceae). The structures of all the isolated quinones were elucidated based on spectroscopic methods. Four of the unknown quinones (umbellatas A, H, K and M) showed potent cytotoxic effects against A431, A2780, NCI-H460, HCT116, HepG2, and MCF-7 human cancer cell lines with IC50 values of 1.3–7.1 μM. These results reveal potential lead compounds for the development of new anticancer agents.

Eight new glycosides, morindaparvins P–W, were isolated from the butanol extract of the aerial parts of Morinda parvifolia. These new structures were elucidated by comprehensive spectroscopic analysis and by comparing the experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism spectra. The butanol extract was observed to significantly reduce the levels of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate transaminase, and lactate dehydrogenase in the sera of mice with concanavalin A-induced hepatitis. At a concentration of 10 μM, five compounds (1, and 4–7) isolated from the butanol extract possessed hepatoprotective activities against the damage induced by acetaminophen in human HepG2 liver cancer cells.

A new nortriterpenoid, 19(R)-hydroxyl-wuweizidilactone H (1), and a sesquiterpene, (6R)-β-chamigrenic acid (2), together with one known nortriterpenoid, wuweizidilactone H (3), and three known hepatoprotective lignans, micrantherin A (4), gomisin M2 (5) and schizandrin (6) were isolated from the fruit of Schisandra chinensis. Their structures were elucidated by UV, IR, HRESIMS, NMR spectra and X-ray analysis. Among them, the absolute configuration of 2 was confirmed for the first time. In vitro assays, compounds 4–6 (10 μM) exhibited hepatoprotective activities (survival rate: 44%, 43% and 44%) against damage induced by N-acetyl-p-aminophenol (APAP) in human liver carcinoma (HepG2) cells.

Seventeen compounds were isolated from n-butanol extract of the leaves of Moringa oleifera, using column chromatography over macroporous resin HP-20,Sephadex LH-20, and ODS. Their structures were identified as two carboline,tangutorid E(1) and tangutorid F(2); three phenolic glycosides,niazirin(3)，benzaldehyde 4-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside(4) and 4-O-β-D-glucopyranosidebenzoic acid(5); four chlorogenic acid and derivatives,4-caffeoylquinic acid(6),methyl 4-caffeoylquinate(7),caffeoylquinic acid(8) and methyl caffeoylquinate(9); two nucleosids,uridine(10) and adenosine(11); one flavone,quercetin 3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(12); five other types of compounds,phthalimidineacetic acid(13),3-pyridinecarboxamide(14),3,4-dihydroxy-benzoic acid(15),5-hydroxymethyl-2-furancarboxylic acid(16) and 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde(17) by the spectral data of ¹H, ¹³C-NMR and MS. Among them,compounds 1-2,7,9-10,16 and 17 were isolated from M. oleifera for the first time.

Five new bioactive compounds, chenopodiumamines A-D (1-4) and chenopodiumoside A (5), were isolated from the ethanol extract of Chenopodium ambrosioides. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by various spectroscopic means (UV, IR, HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR). Compounds 1-3 had moderate antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities.

Five new lanostane triterpenoids, ganoderic acid XL1 (1), ganoderic acid XL2 (2), 20-hydroxy-ganoderic acid AM1 (3), ganoderenic acid AM1 (4) and ganoderesin C (5), together with five known triterpenoids (6-10) were isolated from the fruiting bodies of Ganoderma theaecolum. Chemical structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic evidence, including 1D, 2D NMR, mass spectrometric data and circular dichroism spectra. Compounds 1, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10 (10 μM) exhibited hepatoprotective activities against DL-galactosamine-induced cell damage in HL-7702 cells.

From the fruits of Morus alba, three new alkaloids, mulbaines A (1), B (2), and C (3) were isolated. The structures of these compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods (UV, IR, HR-ESI-MS, 1D, and 2D NMR).

Phytochemical investigation of the H 2 O extract of leaves of Suregada glomerulata led to the isolation of ten pyrrolidine-type iminosugars. The chemical structures of the six new compounds ( 4 – 6 , 8 – 10 ) were elucidated as 2,5-imino-2,4,5-trideoxy- d - manno -heptitol (4-deoxy-homoDMDP) ( 4 ), 2,5-imino-2,4,5-trideoxy- d - gulo -heptitol ( 5 ), 2,5-imino-2,4,5,6-tetradeoxy- d - gulo -heptitol ( 6 ), 6- C -butyl-4-deoxy-DMDP ( 8 ), 6- C -(8-hydroxyoctyl)-DMDP ( 9 ), and 6- C -(8-hydroxyoctyl)-2,5-dideoxy-2,5-imino- d -galactitol ( 10 ), respectively, on the basis of spectroscopic data analysis (NMR and HRESIMS). Compounds 4 – 6 and 8 were characterized as rarely seen 4-deoxy pyrrolidine-type iminosugars. Pyrrolidine-type iminosugars with a long-side chain have been found in the restrictive plant families Moraceae, Campanulaceae, and Hyacinthaceae. The discovery of compounds 9 and 10 with a C 8 side chain from S. glomerulata (Euphorbiaceae) expands the range of distribution for the iminosugars in plants. The 8-hydroxyoctyl side-chain represents a new addition for the molecular diversity of iminosugars. The compounds 1 – 10 were evaluated for inhibitory activity against rat intestinal α-glucosidase. However, all the test compounds showed no significant inhibitory activities to the glucosidase.

On the basis of the greedy algorithm, we discuss the classification of the campsites, and a combination of the best rafting program stands out from the many programs. Therefore, in order to meet the full use of the campsites of river and under the premise of reducing encounter times, we make the best planning enable the river to accommodate the largest amount. After statistics, we find that utilization in our model can be achieved as high as 98.5%.

A finite element model implemented with a progressive damage propagation mechanism was generated to study the mechanical behavior of stiffened composite panels under uniaxial tension. Typical damage modes including fiber breakage, matrix crushing and delamination were considered in the model. Failure criteria with corresponding stiffness degradation technologies was used to predict the initiation and evolution of intra-laminar damage modes by a user-defined subroutine. Cohesive elements with thickness of 0.01mm were defined along the interface areas between the filler and the adjacent laminate layers for predicting the initiation and propagation of delamination. Corresponding tests on composite stiffened panel with a web cut-out were conducted. A good correlation between the numerical results and test data was obtained, which validated the finite element models. Both the numerical and experimental results conclude that the delamination in the flange around the cut-out region is the most critical failure mode for the composite stiffened panel under the uniaxial tensile load.

Chemical investigation of the seeds of Prunus davidiana afforded seven new aromatic glucosides, i.e., the prupersins A-E (1-5) and compounds 6 and 7, as well as 11 known compounds. The structures of 1-7 were elucidated by spectroscopic data analysis and chemical evidence, and configurations were determined by hydrolysis experiments (1, 2, and 5) or electronic circular dichroism (6). Compounds 1-6 exhibited antioxidant activity aganist Fe²⁺-cysteine-induced rat liver microsomal lipid peroxidation, with malondialdehyde inhibitory rates of 50-67% and 53-57% at concentrations of 10⁻⁵ and 10⁻⁶ mol/L, respectively.

The title compound was synthesized from a mixture the ligand (0.792 g, 2 mmol) and thorium nitrate tetrahydrate (0.552 g; 1 mmol). Both components were refluxed for 3 h in absolute ethanol (15 mL). The resulting precipitate was filtered and a yellow solid was obtained. Yellow single crystals were obtained by recrystallization of the solid in DMF and absolute ethanol(1:1). Experimental details H atoms were included in their idealized positions, with C–H = 0.96A, and refined using a ridingmodel withUiso(H) = 1.2Ueq(C) for other H atoms.

Three new 2-arylbenzofurans named wittifuran H, wittifuran I and wittifuran U (1–3) were obtained during our ongoing investigation of an ethanol extract from the stem bark of Morus wittiorum. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data. Compound 2 displayed potent anti-inflammatory activity and selective cytotoxicity against human gastric cancer cell line BGC-823 with an IC50 value of 1.45 μM.

Purpose To evaluate changes in cerebral hemodynamics after carotid stenting of symptomatic carotid artery in the patients who underwent ischemic stroke caused by carotid artery stenosis. Methods Twenty patients with unilateral symptomatic carotid artery stenosis received brain computer tomography perfusion (CTP) scan a week before and a week after carotid artery stenting. Three absolute values including mean transit time (MTT), cerebral blood volume (CBV), and cerebral blood flow (CBF) were acquired and analyzed by use of the post-processing software. Six vascular territories such as ACA territory, MCA territory, PCA territory, basal ganglia, watershed between ACA and MCA territory (frontal watershed), watershed between MCA and PCA territory (posterior watershed) were chosen for comparison. Relative parameter values were defined as rCBF (relative CBF), rCBV (relative CBV), rMTT (relative MTT) through comparing absolute values in symptomatic hemispheres to absolute values in asymptomatic hemispheres. The relative perfusion parameter values before treatment were compared with post-treatment values. These analyses were performed by using the paired t test. Results The mean rMTT decreased significantly in ACA territory, MCA territory and two watershed after treatment, while the mean rCBF increased significantly in those areas after treatment. But the mean rCBV had no significant changes in all six vascular territories. In PCA territory, all the parameters had no significant changes. Conclusion Carotid artery stenting yields satisfactory cerebral perfusion in ACA territory, MCA territory, basal ganglia and two watersheds.

A new surface ion-imprinted Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MCNTs), which was 6,6'-((1E,1'E)-(pyridine-2,6-diyl- bis(azanylyl))bis(methanylylidene))bis(2-allyl-phenol) and Pb(II) complex as functional monomer and template ion was presented for extracting and enrichment traces of Pb(II) ion. Parameters affecting the recovery of Pb(II) have been investigated in detail. The novel IMCNTs display high affinity, specificity, and selectivity for Pb(II) with a maximum uptake capacity of 115.5 mg·g–1 at pH 4.0. Meanwhile, only 11 mins was enough for extracting 98.5% Pb(II) for the IMCNTs. No significant loss in adsorption capacity is observed when the IMCNTs are reused for eleven times. Separation and preconcentration with IMCNTs particles results in a limit of detection of 0.47 μg·L–1 (3σ) and RSD (n = 8) of 1.16% by using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS)

New poly(diphenylacetylene)s with alkoxy and fluoroalkyl groups as electron-donating and electron-withdrawing groups, respectively, were synthesized by using a WCl 6 -n-Ph 4 Sn catalyst. The polymer solutions emitted strong, bluish-green lights when photo-excited. The polymers that contained the electron-donating alkoxy groups showed longer fluorescence-maximum peaks when compared to the polymers that contained the electron-withdrawing fluoroalkyl groups. However, such an effect of the substituent on the absorption property was not clearly seen. The emission bands of the solid films did not show any significant red shift, relative to that of the dilute solution.

The 6-(4-alkoxycarbonylalkoxy)phenoxy-3-alkylthio(alkylsulfonyl)-1-phenyl-5-(substituted phenyl)pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-4-ones 6 and 7 have been synthesized via the tandem aza-Wittig and annulation reactions of the corresponding iminophosphoranes 4, aromatic isocyanates, and substituted phenols 2 in 52–98% yields. Their structures were clearly verified by spectroscopic data (IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, MS, and elemental analysis or X-ray diffraction crystallography). And the results of preliminary bioassay indicated that these title compounds possess potential herbicidal activity against the root of rape and barnyard grass.

A phytochemical investigation of root extracts of Salvia grandifolia led to isolation of six previously unreported diterpenoids, grandifolias A-F, along with eight known compounds. The structures of grandifolias A-F were primarily established by extensive 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic analyses, as well as HRESIMS data. Their absolute configurations were assigned by their calculated and experimental electronic circular dichroism spectra or by X-ray diffraction analysis. All of the diterpenoids were evaluated for their vasorelaxant effects. Grandifolia B and isograndifoliol both exhibited dose-dependent vasorelaxant effects on rat aortic rings, preconstricted by KCl or norepinephrine, with EC50 values of 36.36-74.51μg/mL.

The Myers–Saito (C 2 –C 7 ) cyclization and the alternative Schmittel (C 2 –C 6 ) cyclization of enyne-1,2,3-triene 1R and its hetero analogues 2R – 5R were investigated by using pure density functional theory method (BPW91) in connection with the 6-311G(d, p) basis set. It has been shown that heteroatom-containing reactants lower significantly reaction barriers for both cyclization modes and reduce the difference between the barrier of the C 2 –C 7 cyclization mode and that of the C 2 –C 6 one. The Myers–Saito cyclization of 4R is associated with the smallest reaction barrier and the highest exothermicity. Whereas the Schmittel cyclization of 4R is exothermic, all the others are predicted to be endothermic.

A series of new 6-alkylamino-3-alkylthio-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d] pyrimidin-4(5H)-one derivatives 5 and 6 have been rapidly synthesized by a novel solution-phase regioselective synthetic method. Treatment of pyrazole o-aminoester 1 with dibromotriphenylphosphorane gave iminophosphorane 2, which underwent a aza-Wittig reaction with phenyl ioscyanate to provide the carbodiimide 3. The latter intermediate reacted with alkylamines and regioselectively provided the 1,5-dihydro-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-4-one derivatives 5 and 6, some of which exhibited good fungicidal activity.

A series of new 1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-4(5H)-one Derivatives 5 has been designed and regio-selectively synthesized via a tandem aza-Wittig reaction. The structures of all compounds prepared have been confirmed by 1H NMR, IR, EI-MS spectroscopy and elemental analyses. The results of preliminary bioassay indicate that most compounds 5 possess an inhibition effect against Botrytis cinereapers and Pyricularia oryzae at the concentration of 50 mg/L.

To investigate the anti-atherosclerosis related mechanism of blueberries, the phenolic acids (PAs) content, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, as well as the microRNA (miRNA) regulation of polyphenol fractions in blueberry samples from China were studied. Sixteen batches of blueberries including 14 commercialized cultivars (Reka, Patriot, Brigitta, Bluecrop, Berkeley, Duke, Darrow, Northland, Northblue, Northcountry, Bluesource, Southgood, O’Neal, and Misty) were used in this study. Seven PAs in the polyphenol fractions from 16 blueberry samples in China were quantified by high performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC/MS2). The antioxidant activities of blueberry polyphenols were tested by (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl [DPPH]) assay. The anti-inflammatory (tumor necrosis factor-α [TNF-α] and interleukin-6 [IL-6]) activities of the polyphenol fractions of the blueberries were investigated by using lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced RAW 264.7 macrophages. The correlation analysis showed that the antioxidant (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl [DPPH]) and anti-inflammatory (tumor necrosis factor-α [TNF-α] and interleukin-6 [IL-6]) activities of the polyphenol fractions of the blueberries were in accordance with their PA contents. Although the polyphenol-enriched fractions of blueberries could inhibit the microRNAs (miRNAs) (miR-21, miR-146a, and miR-125b) to different extents, no significant contribution from the PAs was observed. The inhibition of these miRNAs could mostly be attributed to the other compounds present in the polyphenol-enriched fraction of the blueberries. This is the first study to evaluate the PAs content, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, and miRNA regulation of Chinese blueberries.

Two new Diels-Alder adducts, yunanensins B and D (1 and 2), were isolated from the stem bark of Morus yunanensis. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic analysis. Compounds 1 and 2 showed moderate antioxidant effects on liver microsomal lipid peroxidation induced by Fe(2+)-Cys system, with inhibitory ratios of 57.1% and 67.9% at a concentration of 10(-5) mol/l.
