Abstract Objective: We aimed to explore the efficacy and safety of Selinexor combined bortezomib, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone (XVRd) protocol in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma with extramedullary disease. Methods: This is a single-arm, open, observational clinical study. For induction/consolidation(21-day cycles), patients received 8 cycles of XVRd protocol. In maintenance (28-day cycles), patients received XR (Selinexor + Lenalidomide) at least 2 years until disease progression, death or withdrawal. The primary endpoints were overall response rates and minimal residual disease negative rates. Results: The median age of the 10 patients was 62 (range 55–81) years. R-ISS stage 3 was present in 2 (20%) patients. 3 patients had high risk cytogenetic and 1 patient with plasma cell leukocyte. According to IMWG criteria, the ORR of 10 patients with NDMM was 100%, including 2 stringent complete response (sCR), 2 complete remission (CR), 4 very good partial response (VGPR) and 2 partial response (PR). Median progression-free survival and overall survival were not achieved. The most common grade 3–4 treatment-emergent adverse events (occurring in 10% of patients) were thrombocytopenia. The most common non-hematological adverse events were grade 1 or 2, including nausea (30%), fatigue (40%), and anorexia (20%). Overall, the severe toxicities were manageable. Conclusion: The XVRd regimen had good efficacy and safety in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma with extramedullary disease.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the feasibility of applying dual-layer detector spectral computed tomography (DLCT) virtual non-contrast (VNC) technology in pediatric enhanced chest CT examinations. Methods: Retrospective analysis was conducted on the enhanced chest CT imaging data and clinical information of 51 children who underwent DLCT scanning at Wuhan Union Hospital. The same processing protocol was applied to each original image. VNC images were obtained using projection space spectral reconstruction from the venous phase spectral base images (SBI) and compared with true non-contrast (TNC) images regarding image quality and radiation dose. Two radiologists measured the CT and SD values of the pulmonary artery trunk, aorta trunk, erector spinae, lung tissue, and subcutaneous fat of the chest wall on image sets, calculating the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR). Non-contrast, arterial, and venous phase radiation doses were recorded. Subjective image quality scores were assigned using a 5-point Likert scale, and inter-observer consistency was assessed with the Kappa test. The Mann–Whitney U test compared subjective scores, while the paired t-test was used for objective image quality and radiation dose analyses. Results: Objective evaluation of image quality showed no significant statistical differences between the SNR, CNR, and subjective scores of both groups. The median subjective image scores for TNC and VNC were 4 points. The DLP and ED values of the VNC group (298.14±119.40) mGy·cm, (4.27±1.34) mSv were significantly lower than those of the TNC group (437.31±178.28) mGy·cm, (6.26±2.00) mSv. The DLP and ED of the VNC group reduced by 31.82％ and 31.79％, respectively, compared to the TNC group. Conclusion: Spectral CT virtual non-contrast (VNC) images as a substitute for conventional non-contrast (TNC) images in pediatric enhanced chest scans offers satisfactory diagnostic image quality and can significantly reduce radiation dose.

Abstract Background This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of radiomics signatures derived from polyenergetic images (PEIs) and virtual monoenergetic images (VMIs) obtained through dual-layer spectral detector CT (DLCT). Moreover, it sought to develop a clinical-radiomics nomogram based on DLCT for predicting cancer stage (early stage: stage I-II, advanced stage: stage III-IV) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Methods A total of 173 patients histopathologically diagnosed with PDAC and who underwent contrast-enhanced DLCT were enrolled in this study. Among them, 49 were in the early stage, and 124 were in the advanced stage. Patients were randomly categorized into training (n = 122) and test (n = 51) cohorts at a 7:3 ratio. Radiomics features were extracted from PEIs and 40-keV VMIs were reconstructed at both arterial and portal venous phases. Radiomics signatures were constructed based on both PEIs and 40-keV VMIs. A radiomics nomogram was developed by integrating the 40-keV VMI-based radiomics signature with selected clinical predictors. The performance of the nomogram was assessed using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, calibration curves, and decision curves analysis (DCA). Results The PEI-based radiomics signature demonstrated satisfactory diagnostic efficacy, with the areas under the ROC curves (AUCs) of 0.92 in both the training and test cohorts. The optimal radiomics signature was based on 40-keV VMIs, with AUCs of 0.96 and 0.94 in the training and test cohorts. The nomogram, which integrated a 40-keV VMI-based radiomics signature with two clinical parameters (tumour diameter and normalized iodine density at the portal venous phase), demonstrated promising calibration and discrimination in both the training and test cohorts (0.97 and 0.91, respectively). DCA indicated that the clinical-radiomics nomogram provided the most significant clinical benefit. Conclusions The radiomics signature derived from 40-keV VMI and the clinical-radiomics nomogram based on DLCT both exhibited exceptional performance in distinguishing early from advanced stages in PDAC, aiding clinical decision-making for patients with this condition.

Abstract Background The Composite Dietary Antioxidant Index (CDAI) is a dietary antioxidant score that plays a protective role in many diseases, including depression, osteoporosis, papillomavirus infection, etc. However, the association between CDAI and coronary heart disease (CHD) is currently unclear. We aim to explore the correlations between CDAI and the risk of CHD. Methods Eligible participants were obtained from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 1999 to 2018. All participants in this cross-sectional study are required to undergo two separate 24-h dietary recall interviews. Average daily intakes of dietary antioxidants were used to calculate CDAI. CHD status was determined through a questionnaire. Weighted multiple logistic regression models were used to evaluate the relationship between CDAI and CHD. Moreover, we also used restricted cubic spline to explore Non-linear correlations. Sensitivity analysis using unweighted logistic analysis and subgroup analysis were used to demonstrate the stability of the results. Results A total of 34,699 participants were eligible for analysis.Compared to the participants without CHD, the participants with CHD showed lower levels of CDAI. This paper studies an artificial neural network (ANN) for multi-asset European options. Firstly, a simple three-layer ANN-3 is established with undetermined weights and bias. Secondly, the time–space discrete PDE of the multi-asset option is given and the corresponding discrete data are fed into the ANN-3. Then, using least squares error as the objective function, the weights and bias of ANN-3 are trained well. Numerical examples are carried out to confirm the stability, accuracy and efficiency. Experiments show the ANN’s relative error is about 0.8%. This method can be extended into multi-layer ANN-q(q>3) and extended into American options.

Abstract To evaluate myocardial strain in patients with different coronary artery disease-reporting and data system (CAD-RADS) levels using the computed tomography (CT) feature tracking technology and to investigate the relationship of myocardial strain with coronary artery calcium scores (CACs) and the degree of coronary artery stenosis. We prospectively enrolled 237 consecutive patients to undergo coronary CT angiography. The participants were divided into the following groups: control (n = 87), CAD-RADS 1 (n = 43), CAD-RADS 2 (n = 43), CAD-RADS 3 (n = 38), and CAD-RADS 4 and above (n = 26). Myocardial strains were analyzed by commercial software, and CACs and coronary stenosis were assessed on post-processing stations. Differences between multiple groups were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance or the Kruskal–Wallis test. Logistic regression were used to analyze the effects of dichotomous variables. As the CAD-RADS level increased, the global circumferential strain (GCS), global longitudinal strain (GLS) and global radial strain (GRS) of the left ventricle based on CT gradually decreased. Systemic amyloidosis is a rare protein misfolding and deposition disorder leading to progressive organ failure. Waldenström macroglobulinemia (WM) with systemic amyloidosis as the main manifestation is even rarer. The patient in this study presented with recurrent diarrhea and had not been diagnosed in other hospitals on multiple occasions. Later, his diarrhea worsened and was accompanied by sunken edema of both lower limbs and dizziness. Renal biopsy showed deposits of PAS light-staining material in the glomeruli, interstitium, and small arteries, which stained positively with Congo red. Cardiac ultrasound showed interventricular septum thickening of 17 mm, right ventricular wall myocardial thickening of approximately 0.6 cm, and septal thickening of approximately 0.5 cm, considering myocardial amyloidosis. Electromyography showed abnormal peripheral nerve conduction. Lymphoplasmacytic cells were found in the bone marrow. Taken together, he was diagnosed with WM. He was treated with a BR (Bendamustine + Rituximab) regimen. After 6 courses, the patient’s discomfort was relieved, his weight gained 5 kg, the level of serum IgM and dFLC decreased, and cardiac and renal assessments were more relieved. The patient has been followed up for more than 1 month.

Abstract Waterlogging stress is an important abiotic stress that adversely affects maize growth and yield. The mechanism regulating the early stage of the maize response to waterlogging stress is largely unknown. In this study, CM37 and cmh15 seedlings were treated with waterlogging stress and then examined in terms of their physiological changes. The results indicated that inbred line cmh15 is more tolerant to waterlogging stress and less susceptible to peroxide-based damages than CM37. The RNA sequencing analysis identified 1,359 down-regulated genes and 830 up-regulated genes in the waterlogging-treated cmh15 plants (relative to the corresponding control levels). According to the Gene Ontology analysis for the differentially expressed genes (DEGs), some important terms were identified which may play important roles in the response to waterlogging stress. Moreover, enriched Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathways were also identified for the DEGs. Furthermore, the substantial changes in the expression of 36 key transcription factors may be closely related to the maize in response to waterlogging stress. This study offers important insights into the mechanism in regulating maize tolerance to waterlogging stress, with important foundations for future research.

This paper develops a time-space double radial basis function (TSDRBF) method to solve PDEs arising from multiasset option pricing. By TSDRBF discretization for the high-dimensional PDEs, a linear system (LS) is obtained. After solving the LS, multi-asset options of European and American style are restored, with number N of space discretization, number M¯ of time nodes, and number M of time RBF discretization. Numerical examples confirm that the TSDRBF method has exponentially convergent rates for the number N and number M, while the convergence is linear for the number M¯. Compared with finite difference, TSDRBF avoids the difficulty of space discretization, and the convergence is greatly improved.

Dual-energy CT has shown promising results in determining tumor characteristics and treatment effectiveness through spectral data by assessing normalized iodine concentration (nIC), normalized effective atomic number (nZeff), normalized electron density (nED), and extracellular volume (ECV). This study explores the value of quantitative parameters in contrast-enhanced dual-layer spectral detector CT (SDCT) as a potential tool for detecting lymph node activity in lymphoma patients. A retrospective analysis of 55 lymphoma patients with 289 lymph nodes, assessed through 18FDG-PET/CT and the Deauville five-point scale, revealed significantly higher values of nIC, nZeff, nED, and ECV in active lymph nodes compared to inactive ones (p < 0.001). Generalized linear mixed models showed statistically significant fixed-effect parameters for nIC, nZeff, and ECV (p < 0.05). The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) values of nIC, nZeff, and ECV reached 0.822, 0.845, and 0.811 for diagnosing lymph node activity. In conclusion, the use of g nIC, nZeff, and ECV as alternative imaging biomarkers to PET/CT for identifying lymph node activity in lymphoma holds potential as a reliable diagnostic tool that can guide treatment decisions.

Abstract Background Frequent occurrence of extreme high temperature is a major threat to crop production. Increasing evidence demonstrates that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have important biological functions in the regulation of the response to heat stress. However, the regulatory mechanism of lncRNAs involved in heat response requires further exploration and the regulatory network remains poorly understood in maize. Results In this research, high-throughput sequencing was adopted to systematically identify lncRNAs in maize inbred line CM1. In total, 53,249 lncRNAs (259 known lncRNAs and 52,990 novel lncRNAs) were detected, of which 993 lncRNAs showed significantly differential expression (DElncRNAs) under heat stress. By predicting the target genes, 953 common targets shared by cis- and trans-regulation of the DElncRNAs were identified, which exhibited differential expression between the control and the heat stress treatments. Functional annotation indicated that a number of important biological processes and pathways, including photosynthesis, metabolism, translation, stress response, hormone signal transduction, and spliceosome, were enriched for the common targets, suggesting that they play important roles in heat response. A lncRNA-mediated regulatory network was constructed to visualize the molecular response mechanism in response to heat stress, which represented the direct regulatory relationships of DElncRNAs, differentially expressed miRNAs, target genes, and functional annotations. Conclusions This study lays a foundation for further elucidation of the regulatory mechanism for the response to heat stress in the maize inbred line CM1. The findings provide important information for identification of heat-responsive genes, which will be beneficial for the molecular breeding in the cultivation of heat-tolerant maize germplasm.

AimsThe pathogenesis of disease progression targets for patients with heart failure after acute myocardial infarction was investigated by using plasma proteomics.MethodsThe plasma proteomes of acute myocardial infarction patients with (MI-HF) and without (MI-WHF) heart failure were compared. Each group consisted of 10 patients who were matched for age and sex. The peptides were analyzed by 2-dimensional liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry in a high definition mode. Parallel reaction monitoring (PRM) verified the selected target proteins.ResultsWe identified and quantified 2,589 and 2,222 proteins, respectively, and found 117 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) (≥1.5-fold), when the MI-HF and MI-WHF groups were compared. Of these 51 and 66 were significantly up-regulated and down-regulated, respectively. The significant DEPs was subjected to protein–protein interaction network analysis which revealed a central role of the NF-κB signaling pathway in the MI-HF patients. PRM verified that MB, DIAPH1, VNN1, GOT2, SLC4A1, CRP, CKM, SOD3, F7, DLD, PGAM2, GOT1, UBA7 and HYOU1 were 14 proteins which were highly expressed in MI-HF patients.ConclusionsThese findings showed a group of proteins related to the NF-κB signaling pathway in the pathogenesis of patients with poor outcomes after experiencing MI-HF. These proteins may be useful candidate markers for the diagnosis of MI-HF as well as help to elucidate the pathophysiology of this major cause of mortality in older patients.

In this paper, a new approach is proposed to construct willow tree (WT) for generalized hyperbolic (GH) Lévy processes. There are two advantages of our proposed approach compared to the classical WT methods. Firstly, it avoids the moments matching from Johnson curve in the known WT construction. Secondly, the error of European option pricing is only determined by time partition ∆t under some conditions. Since the moments of Lévy measure are removed from this algorithm, our approach improves the stability and accuracy of WT in option pricing. Numerical experiments support our claims. Moreover, the new approach can be extended to other Lévy processes if their characteristic functions are expressed by explicit forms.

The red swamp crayfish, Procambarus clarkii, is a globally invasive species and has caused huge damage to aquaculture, biodiversity, and ecology worldwide. Antenna-expressed receptors are important for P. clarkii to detect chemosensory cues for mate attraction. In this study, we tested the behavior of male P. clarkii to the conditioned water from female P. clarkii during the mating and non-mating periods, and performed RNA sequencing to investigate the chemosensory-related genes of the antenna of male P. clarkii. The results of the behavioral assay have shown that for the female-conditioned water, male P. clarkii within the mating period can be significantly attracted, but not during the non-mating period. This suggested that the expressions of chemosensory-related genes in the antenna of male P. clarkii may change significantly with mating seasonal variation. Antenna transcriptomes found that a total of 59,218 unigenes with an average length of 1,056.41 bp, and 4,889 differentially expressed unigenes (DEGs), among which 2,128 were upregulated, while 2,761 were downregulated were obtained. A total of 12 upregulated and nine downregulated DEGs were associated with chemical reception, including four ionotropic receptors (IRs) or ionotropic glutamate receptors (iGluRs), eight G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), five transient receptor potential channels (TRP channels), one sodium–calcium exchanger, one isomerase, and two uncharacterized proteins (chemosensory proteins-like, CSPs). CSPs were preliminarily classified as pheromone receptors in the antenna of male P. clarkii. Furthermore, the calcium transduction-related pathways may play an important role in the sex pheromone reception of the male P. clarkii’s antenna. The results of quantitative real-time reverse transcriptase PCR (RT-qPCR) showed that the trends of expression of eight selected unigenes were consistent with RNA-Seq results. Our results provide more comprehensive data for chemical communication mechanisms after P. clarkii enter the mating period and eventually would develop better control strategies in further.

Background Gut microbiota play a critical role in nutrition absorption and environmental adaptation and can affect the biological characteristics of host animals. The invasive golden apple snail (Pomacea canaliculata) and native Chinese mud snail (Cipangopaludina chinensis) are two sympatric freshwater snails with similar ecological niche in southern China. However, gut microbiota comparison of interspecies remains unclear. Comparing the difference of gut microbiota between the invasive snail P. canaliculata and native snail C. chinensis could provide new insight into the invasion mechanism of P.canaliculata at the microbial level. Methods Gut samples from 20 golden apple snails and 20 Chinese mud snails from wild freshwater habitats were collected and isolated. The 16S rRNA gene V3–V4 region of the gut microbiota was analyzed using high throughput Illumina sequencing. Results The gut microbiota dominantly composed of Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes and Epsilonbacteraeota at phylum level in golden apple snail. Only Proteobacteria was the dominant phylum in Chinese mud snail. Abstract Superoxide dismutase proteins (SODs) are antioxidant enzymes with important roles in abiotic stress responses. The SOD gene family has been systematically analyzed in many plants; however, it is still poorly understood in maize. Here, a bioinformatics analysis of maize SOD gene family was conducted by describing gene structure, conserved motifs, phylogenetic relationships, gene duplications, promoter cis-elements and GO annotations. In total, 13 SOD genes were identified in maize and five members were involved in segmental duplication. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that SODs from maize and other plants comprised two groups, which could be further classified into different subgroups, with most members in the same subgroup having the same subcellular localization. The ZmSOD promoters contained 2-10 stress-responsive cis-elements with different distributions. Heatmap analysis indicated that ZmSODs were expressed in most of the detected tissues and organs. The expression patterns of ZmSODs were investigated under drought and salt treatments by qRT-PCR, and most members were responsive to drought or salt stress, especially some ZmSODs with significant expression changes were identified, such as ZmCSD2 and ZmMSD2, suggesting the important roles of ZmSODs in abiotic stress responses. Our results provide an important basis for further functional study of ZmSODs in future study.

Context Ursolic acid (UA), a natural product, shows a broad spectrum of anticancer effects. However, the poor bioavailability and efficacy of UA limit its clinical application. Objective We developed novel analogues of UA with enhanced antitumor activities by the extensive chemical modification of UA. Materials and methods We developed multiple compounds by structural modification of UA, and found that UA232 had stronger activity than UA. The effects of UA232 (0–50 μM) on inhibiting the proliferation of A549 and H460 cells were determined by CCK-8 for 24, 48, or 72 h. The proapoptotic effect of UA232 was analyzed by microscopy and flow cytometry, and the potential signal pathway affected by UA232 was further validated by Western blotting and flow cytometry. Results Compared with UA, UA232 showed a stronger ability to inhibit the proliferation of lung cancer cells (IC50 = 5.4–6.1 μM for A549 and 3.9–5.7 μM for H460 cells). UA232 could induce not only cell cycle arrest in the G0/G1 phase but also apoptosis in both A549 and H460 cells. The treatment of UA232 could lead to an increase of CHOP expression rather than an increase in Bax or caspase-8, indicating that the apoptosis induced by UA232 was correlated with the endoplasmic reticulum stress (ER stress) pathway. Treatment with the ER stress-specific inhibitor, 4-PBA, decreased the ability of UA232 to induce apoptosis in A549 and H460 cells. Conclusion UA232 induced apoptosis through the ER stress pathway, and showed stronger growth-inhibitory effects in A549 and H460 cells compared to UA, which may be a potential anticancer drug to suppress the proliferation of lung cancer.

Abstract Background We examined the influence of pre-pregnancy body weight on the rates of attempted and successfully assisted-vaginal delivery. Methods We used 2008–2016 inpatient records including 3408 women who had singleton gestations and needed operative delivery assistance to conduct a retrospective cohort study. Patients were categorized based on pre-pregnancy BMI (normal weight = 18.5 to less than 25 or obese = 30 or greater). We used logistic regression to estimate odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals of attempted and successful forceps or vacuum-assisted vaginal delivery by body weight adjusted for marital status, age, gestational age, induction of labor, episiotomy, diabetes, and birth weight. Results The proportion of women with attempted either vacuum or forceps was lower among women who were obese pre-pregnancy compared to women who were normal weight. Women with excessive gestational weight gain, large for gestational age neonates, and diabetes were less likely to have a vacuum-assisted or forceps-assisted vaginal delivery attempted. Conversely, women who received labor augmentation or induction, used epidural anesthesia, gained inadequate weight, and delivered a small for gestational age infant were more likely to have a vacuum-assisted or forceps-assisted vaginal delivery attempted. Compared to normal weight women, obese women who received forceps-assisted vaginal delivery were more likely to have a successful vaginal delivery. Conclusion Women who had normal weight had higher likelihood to attempt assisted vaginal delivery compared to women who had pre-pregnancy obesity. However, when assisted vaginal delivery was attempted, success rates were higher when forceps-assisted delivery was used compared to vacuum-assisted delivery.

Laplace transform method (LTM) has a lot of applications in the evaluation of European-style options and exotic options without early exercise features. However the Laplace transform methods for pricing American options have unsatisfactory accuracy and suffer from the instability. The aim of this paper is to develop a Laplace transform method for pricing American Strangles options with the underlying asset price following the constant elasticity volatility (CEV) models. By approximating the free boundaries, the Laplace transform is taken on a fixed space region to replace the moving boundaries space. After solving the linear system in Laplace space, Gaver-Stehfest formula (GSF) and hyperbola contour integral method (HCIM) are applied to compute the Laplace inversion. Numerical results show that the LTM-HCIM outperform the LTM-GSF in regard to the accuracy and stability for the option values.

The acute and residual (or long-term) bone marrow (BM) injury induced by ionizing radiation (IR) is a major clinic concern for patients receiving conventional radiotherapy and victims accidentally exposed to a moderate-to-high dose of IR. In this study, we investigated the effects of the treatment with the p38 inhibitor SB203580 (SB) and/or granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) on the hematoimmune damage induced by IR in a mouse model. Specifically, C57BL/6 mice were exposed to a sublethal dose (6 Gy) of total body irradiation (TBI) and then treated with vehicle, G-CSF, SB, and G-CSF plus SB. G-CSF (1 µg/mouse) was administrated to mice by intraperitoneal (ip) injection twice a day for six successive days; SB (15 mg/kg) by ip injection every other day for 10 days. It was found that the treatment with SB and/or G-CSF significantly enhanced the recovery of various peripheral blood cell counts and the number of BM mononuclear cells 10 and 30 days after the mice were exposed to TBI compared with vehicle treatment. Moreover, SB and/or G-CSF treatment also increased the clonogenic function of BM hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPCs) and the frequency of BM lineage -Sca1+c-kit+ cells (LSK cells) and short-term and long term hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) 30 days after TBI, in comparison with vehicle treated controls. However, the recovery of peripheral blood B cells and CD4+ and CD8+ T cells was not significantly affected by SB and/or G-CSF treatment. These results suggest that the treatment with SB and/or G-CSF can reduce IR-induced BM injury probably in part via promoting HSC and HPC regeneration.

The stationary fractional advection dispersion equation is discretized by linear finite element scheme, and a full V-cycle multigrid method (FV-MGM) is proposed to solve the resulting system. Some useful properties of the approximation and smoothing operators are proved. Using these properties we derive the convergence results in both norm and energy norm for FV-MGM. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the convergence rate and efficiency of the method.

[Objectives] To study the reference value of thyroid function in healthy women of childbearing age during different pregnancies (early, middle and late pregnancy) in Jingzhou City. [Methods] 362 healthy women of childbearing age during different pregnancies (early, middle and late pregnancy) were selected as the study group, and 360 non-pregnant women were selected as the control group. Serum thyroid hormone levels in the two groups were detected, and the reference value was expressed as the median (M) and 95% confidence interval (CI). On this basis, the chart of changing trend of thyroid hormone in the early, middle and late pregnancy were plotted. [Results] Compared with the control group, FT3, TT4, TT3, FT4 and TSH in the early, middle and late pregnancy were significantly different in the study group (P <0.05). In the study group, there were significant differences in the early, middle and late pregnancy (P <0.05). [Conclusions] This trend chart has certain reference value in the screening, diagnosis and treatment of thyroid diseases in healthy women of childbearing age during different pregnancies (early, middle and late pregnancy) in Jingzhou City of Hubei Province. Background: The Caprini Risk Score (CRS) is a validated predictive instrument for venous thrombosis. Previous investigators have shown that a high CRS is associated with a higher risk of mortality from thrombotic diseases. Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the association between the CRS and prognosis of patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Methods: Secondary analysis of data from a retrospective cohort study was conducted. Patients were classified into 3 CRS-based categories (CRS ≤ 2, CRS = 3--4, and CRS ≥ 5, indicating low, medium, and high, respectively). Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox regression models were used to assess the prognosis of patients with ACS. All-cause mortality and cardiac mortality were the end points. Results: Two hundred fifty-four patients (12.8%) died during follow-up. Multivariate Cox regression models identified CRS as an independent risk factor for all-cause mortality among patients with ACS (CRS = 3--4vsCRS ≤ 2, hazard ratio: 3.268, 95%confidence interval: 1.396--7.647, P = .006; CRS ≥ 5vsCRS ≤ 2, hazard ratio: 4.099, 95% confidence interval: 1.708--9.841, P = .002). Pearson correlation analysis showed a positive correlation between CRS and fibrinogen level (r = 0.486, R² =0.765, P < .001) as well as D-dimer level (r =0.480, R² =0.465, P < .001). Conclusion: The CRS is a useful prognostic assessment instrument for patients with ACS, and the risk stratification of patients with ACS can be achieved based on their CRS at admission.
