Operational water management is a critical global challenge, and decision making can be improved by using mathematical optimization. This paper provides an overview of optimization techniques, both exact and heuristic, used in water management. It focuses on the use of optimization techniques in the short term: operational planning in reservoir management, control of open channels, hydropower scheduling, and operation of polder drainage pumps. Principles of model predictive control, methods for optimization under forecast uncertainty, and approaches for conflict resolution are explained with the help of educational examples and practical cases. Challenges and research questions to be addressed in the future are presented as an outlook. Objective: Methods of cognitive measurements in multiple sclerosis (MS) are not standardized. We aimed to identify the prevalence of cognitive domain‐specific impairment (DSI) in MS by using subtests of the Brief Repeatable Battery of Neuropsychological Tests (BRB‐N) with analyzing different cutoff values. Methods: The systematic review and meta‐analysis were registered on PROSPERO (ID: CRD42021287004). The systematic literature search was performed via PubMed, Embase, and CENTRAL on 24 October 2021. Inclusion criteria were adults of different MS subtypes (CIS, RRMS, PPMS, and SPMS) with the condition of distinct DSI measured by BRB‐N. Pediatric MS, computerized versions of BRB‐N, and patients receiving steroids were excluded. Primary outcome was pooled prevalence rates of impaired patients within each cutoff and MS subtype, with 95% confidence interval, I‐squared statistics for heterogeneity, and chi‐squared test for subgroup differences. Risk of bias was assessed using the "JBI Quality Assessment Tool for Prevalence Studies." Results: In 48 eligible observational studies (n = 3431 patients), the three most prevalent thresholds were the 2.0 SD and 1.5 SD below the mean of normative values, and the score below the fifth percentile of the normative values. A progressively increasing worsening of the overall DSI was observed from CIS, moving toward RRMS, PPMS, and SPMS. Interpretation: Cognitive impairment is observed in all MS phenotypes, with varying degrees. Due to several potential influencing factors, our comprehensive literature review has not revealed consistent findings, and we, therefore, recommend considering a more sophisticated, "individual referencing" approach, acknowledging the diverse clinical and sociodemographic characteristics among populations and disparities in cognitive testing. A Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén megyei települések több mint egyharmada periferikus településnek minősül, sőt, más meghatározások szerint szinte mindegyik települést ide lehetne sorolni. Megvizsgáltuk, hogy a csekély munkaerőpiaci lehetőségekkel rendelkező településekről történik-e elvándorlás, az ott élők hogyan vélekednek a munkaerőpiacról, a külföldi munkavállalásról; a földrajzi mobilitás milyen irányú: országon, megyén belüli, vagy külföldre is költözik-e a lakosság. Azt is kutattuk, hogy a roma lakosság vándorlási aktivitása milyen szintű, eltér-e a többségi társadalomra jellemzőtől, vajon a vándorlással kapcsolatos attitűdök miben és mennyiben különböznek a roma és a nem roma lakosok esetében. Továbbá elemeztük a különböző korosztályok vándorlási motivációit, a szülők szerepet játszanak-e a fiatalok elvándorlásában egy periferikus térségben, vagyis azt, hogy érvényesül-e a család vándorlást erősítő hatása. A rendszerváltozást átélt szülők, akik a munkaerőpiaci lehetőségekről negatív tapasztalatot szereztek, arra biztatják-e gyermekeiket, hogy máshol lépjenek ki a munkaerőpiacra, máshol próbáljanak szerencsét? Arra is választ kívántunk kapni kutatásunkban, hogy az elvándorlás hogyan érinti a roma fiatalokat. Cikkünkben szekunder adatelemzést követően egy közel 1000 lakosú településen végzett reprezentatív (134 fő megkérdezésével történő) primer felmérés eredményét ismertetjük.

A folyamatok irányíthatóságával kapcsolatban számos – akár ellentétes végkövetkeztetésű – elméleti és gyakorlati kutatás foglalkozott, amelyek azonban egyetértettek abban, hogy a folyamatok mélyebb megismerése elengedhetetlen. Ebben a tanulmányban a magyarországi középiskolás diákok tanulási célú mobilitásának jellemzőit elemezzük. A kutatás keretében 17 irányított interjút készítettünk olyan diákokkal, akik legalább 3 hónapot tanultak az Európai Unió valamely tagországában, illetve szakértői mélyinterjúkat folytattunk. Bemutatjuk, hogy a középiskolás diákok mobilitási döntésében mekkora szerepet játszik például a szülői „nyomás”, a baráti kapcsolatok és a „referenciaközeg” véleménye. Azt is tanulmányoztuk, hogy akik középiskolás korukban vállalják a külföldi tanulmányokat, hamarabb válnak-e „éretté”, vagyis azt, hogy a diákok személyiségében milyen változást okoztak a külföldön töltött hónapok, milyen kapcsolatokat építettek ki, milyen utat jártak be, hogy „különlegessé váljanak” a mobilitásban részt nem vevő társaikkal szemben. Kutatásunk kiterjed a mobilitási árnyoldalak feltárására is.

In a context of global change, inland navigation transport has gained interest with economic and environmental benefits. The development of this means of conveyance requires the improvement of its management rules to deal with the increase of navigation (schedules and frequency) and the potential impact of global change. To achieve this aim, it is first necessary to have a better knowledge about the dynamics of inland navigation networks and their interaction with the environment. Second, the potential effects of global change have to be anticipated. This article focuses on the modeling of inland navigation reaches. An inland navigation network is a large-scale distributed system composed of several interconnected reaches. These reaches are characterized by non-linearities, time delays, and generally no significant slope. To deal with these particularities, a gray-box model is proposed. It consists in determining the delays according to the physical characteristics of the system. The parameters of the model are identified with measured data. The gray-box model is used to reproduce the dynamics of the Cuinchy–Fontinettes reach located in the north of France.
