Bio-based gallic acid epoxy resin(GAER)was prepared by gallic acid as main raw material. Nano-ZnO surface modification by KH-550 was used to prepare KH550-nano-ZnO. In addition, it was combined with the bio gallic acid epoxy resin(GAER), GAER/KH550-nano-ZnO composite coating was prepared by using succinic anhydride as curing agent. The changes of microstructure before and after modification of nano-ZnO were characterized. The curing process of succinic anhydride/GAER system was studied by differential scanning calorimeter. The effects of the KH550-nano-ZnO content on the mechanical properties, the thermal properties, dynamic mechanical properties and the antibacterial properties of the coating film were tested. The results show that the addition of proper amount of KH550-nano-ZnO can increase the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the system and improve the impact resistance of coating surface. The hardness and thermal stability of the coating are increased and the adhesion is decreased with the increased content of KH550-nano-ZnO. The initial thermal decomposition temperature (T5%) of the composite coating is higher 12.6-15.4℃ than that of pure GAER. When the content of KH550-nano-ZnO is 2%(mass fraction), the Tg is increased by 30.7℃ compared with pure GAER resin. The anti-bacterial rate of the KH550-nano-ZnO/GAER cured coating to Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus reaches 99.99%.

The methyl acryloyloxy propyl silsesquioxane(MAP-POSS) was prepared by hydrolysis condensation of KH-570, and composing free radical-cationic hybrid UV curing system with the unsaturated epoxy resin. The changes of characteristic absorption peak in the curing process was characterized by using infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and the influence of MAP-POSS content on the surface water contact angle, silicon elements distribution, mechanical properties and thermal performance of UV-cured film was investigated. The results show that with the addition of MAP-POSS the crosslinking degree, hydrophobicity, thermal stability and glass transition temperature(Tg) of the film are improved. When the content of MAP-POSS is 12% (mass fraction, the same below), Tg is increased by 16.9℃. When the MAP-POSS content is 15%, the water contact angle of film is increased from 58.0° to 94.2°. The impact strength is improved firstly and then decreased with the addition of MAP-POSS.

Reducing the dependence of epoxy resin preparation on petroleum resources and developing thermosetting epoxy resins with excellent comprehensive performance are important directions for the current development of epoxy resins. This article uses biomass resource magnolol as the main raw material to prepare magnolol epoxy monomer (DGEM). Then, using 4,4-diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM) as the curing agent, the DGEM and bisphenol A epoxy resin (E44) were blended and cured. The results showed a dual modification effect of DGEM on the toughening and strengthening of E44 epoxy resin. When the mass ratio of DGEM to E44 is 30:70, the bending strength of the cured blended resin is 18.7% higher than that of the E44 system, and the tensile strength is 57.7% higher. When the mass ratio of DGEM to E44 is 5:95, the cured blended resin exhibits the optimal impact strength (5.10 kJ/mol), which is 22.9% higher than the pure E44 system. However, the addition of DGEM reduced the glass transition temperature and crosslinking degree of the blended resin system. The addition of DGEM improves the heat resistance and flame retardancy of the blended resin. When the mass ratio of DGEM: E44 was 50:50, the vertical combustion reached UL-94 V-0 level.
