In recent years, China's population growth rate is slowing, and birth rates are declining. The impact of changes in population size and structure on logistics development has raised important concerns. The coupling coordination between population and logistics has significant implications for the sustainable development of regional economies. This paper analyzes the relationship between population changes and logistics development from the perspective of the spatiotemporal evolution of their coupling coordination. First, based on population and logistics data from 31 provincial-level administrative regions in China from 2003 to 2022, a comprehensive evaluation indicator system is established to assess the population and logistics development levels across these provinces. Second, a coupling coordination degree model is constructed to explore the coupling coordination relationship between population changes and logistics development. Methods such as kernel density estimation and spatial autocorrelation analysis are employed to analyze the temporal evolution characteristics of the coupling coordination degree of the two subsystems. The results indicate that: (1) From 2003 to 2022, the population and logistics development levels in 31 provinces exhibited an upward trend. The growth rate of logistics development level scores exceeds that of population scores; (2) During the study period, the coupling coordination degree between population and logistics in most provinces shows a year-on-year increase, and notable spatial differences exhibit a decreasing trend; (3) There exists a significant positive spatial correlation in the coupling coordination degree between population and logistics across the 31 provinces, and local spatial autocorrelation is primarily characterized by 'high–high' and 'low–low' clustering distributions. Polyploid plants often exhibit superior yield, stress resistance, and quality. In this study, homologous tetraploid wucai (Brassica campestris L.) was successfully obtained by spraying seedling growth points with colchicine. The morphological, cytological, and physiological characteristics of diploid and tetraploid wucai were analyzed, and transcriptomic sequencing was performed at three stages of development. Tetraploid seedings grew slowly but exhibited darker leaves, enlarged organs and cells, increased stomatal volume, decreased stomatal density, improved nutritional content, and enhanced photosynthesis. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) identified in diploid and tetraploid plants at three stages of development were enriched in different pathways. Notably, DEGs identified in the tetraploid plants were specifically enriched in starch and sucrose metabolism, pentose and glucuronate interconversions, and ascorbate and aldarate metabolism. In addition, we found that the light green module was most relevant to ploidy, and DEGs in this module were significantly enriched in the glycolysis/gluconeogenesis and TCA cycle pathways. The differential expression of key glycolysis-associated genes at different developmental stages may be the driver of the observed differences between diploid and tetraploid wucai. This study lays a technical foundation for the development of polyploid wucai germplasm resources as well as the breeding of new varieties with improved quality, yield, and stress resistance. Objective To explore the relationship between spinal cord dysplasia and congenital complex anorectal malformations (ARMs) and how they affect the defecatory function in children. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 148 children undergoing staged surgeries for complex ARMs between October, 2012 and February, 2017. According to the findings by lumbosacral magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the children were divided into normal spinal cord group and abnormal spinal cord development group to analyze the distribution of spinal cord dysplasia in different types of ARMs and the impact of anomalies in spinal cord development on the development of the perianal muscles, anorectal manometry, and the defecatory function. Results Of the 148 children, 34 (23.0%) showed anomalies in spinal cord development, including steatosis of the terminal filament in 21 (61.8%) cases, intraspinal lipoma in 7 (20.6%) cases, syringomyelia in 1 (2.9%) case, intraspinal cystic lesion in 3 (8.8%) cases, and mixed spinal cord anomaly in 2 (5.9%) cases. We classified AMRs into different types according to Krickenbeck international classification, and abnormal spinal cord development was found in 20.0% (1/5) of the patients with rectal stenosis, 25.0% (5/20) of the patients with rectal atresia, 20.0% (1/5) of the patients with perineal fistula, 22.2% (8/36) of the patients with rectobulbar fistula, 18.2% (6/33) of the patients with rectoprostatic fistula, 25.0% (1/4) of the patients with rectovesical fistula, 24.2% (8/33) of the patients with vestibular fistula, 66.7%(2/3) of the patients with rectovaginal fistula, and 22.2% (2/9) of the patients with cloaca; No significant difference was found in the incidences of abnormal spinal cord development among the 9 groups (P=0.874). A total of 145 patients were evaluated for perianal muscle development during the surgery, and 26 patients had excellent, 105 had good, and 14 had poor development; the development of perianal muscles differed significantly between the children with normal and those with abnormal spinal cord development (P=0.005). Forty-four patients received anorectal manometry, which Showing no significant difference in resting anal pressure between the children with normal and abnormal spinal cord development (35.0±14.8 vs 27.9±14.3 mmHg, P=0.268); the positivity rate of rectoanal inhibitory reflex (RAIR) was lower in normal spinal cord group than in spinal cord dysplasia group (45.9% vs 71.4%), but the difference was not statistically significant (P=0.412). Follow-up of the patients for defecatory function assessment using the modified Rintal scale showed no significant difference in the constituent ratios of defecatory function between the 2 groups (P=0.416). Conclusion Spinal cord dysplasia is associated with perianal muscle development in children with complex ARMs, for whom routine lumbosacral MRI should be performed to detect the presence of spinal cord dysplasia.

Purpose: This study aims to investigate whether necrotic testis resulting from incarcerated inguinal hernias can be preserved in infants under 3 months old. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on data collected from infants under 3 months old who had necrotic testis caused by incarcerated inguinal hernias between 2016 and 2020. They were divided into two groups: the orchiectomy group and the testicular preservation group. The control group consisted of normal male children of the same age. Data regarding bilateral testicular volume, dihydrotestosterone, inhibin B, and antisperm antibodies were collected. Results: The study included 42 cases, with 18 patients being followed up for 6–54 months after the operation. In the testicular preservation group, 2 children did not experience testicular atrophy. There was no significant difference in the volume of the contralateral testes between the testicular preservation group and the control group; however, both groups had smaller testicular volumes compared to the orchiectomy group. There was no significant difference in the levels of inhibin B between the testicular preservation group and the orchiectomy group, although both were lower than the control group. Furthermore, no significant difference was observed in the levels of dihydrotestosterone and the positivity rate of antisperm antibodies among the three groups. Conclusion: Preserving the necrotic testis may allow it to survive without impacting the contralateral testis. Therefore, a more conservative approach should be considered for orchiectomy when dealing with testicular necrosis caused by incarcerated inguinal hernias in infants. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective This article develops a nomogram to estimate intestinal necrosis risk in the incarcerated inguinal hernia (IIH) in infants under 6 months. Methods A total of 273 infants who underwent an emergency operation due to IIH were investigated retrospectively. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to analyze the relationship between variables and intestinal necrosis and construct a nomogram of intestinal necrosis. The discrimination and concordance of the model were verified by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis and calibration curve, and the bootstrap method was used for internal validation of the model. The clinical applicability of the model was evaluated using the decision curve and the clinical impact curve. Results Intestinal necrosis was found in 37 of 273 infants (13.6%) in this study. The vomiting symptoms, platelet count, C-reactive protein, and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio were independent risk factors for intestinal necrosis in IIH. We then constructed a nomogram with these four factors. ROC analysis showed that the nomogram had a good diagnostic performance, with the area under the curve (AUC), sensitivity, and specificity of 0.918 (95% confidence interval: 0.880–0.956), 97.3%, and 69.9%, respectively. The nomogram was further validated using 2,000-repetition internal bootstrap validation, and the values of AUC, sensitivity, and specificity were 0.899, 95.7%, and 50.5%, respectively. The decision curve and the clinical impact curve indicated that the predictive model has a favorable clinical application. Conclusion The nomogram can be used to predict intestinal necrosis in IIH, and allow us to estimate the severity of IIH more accurately and arrange the treatment process more reasonably.
