Purpose: Fear of progression (FoP) leads to poor clinical outcomes in colorectal cancer patients. The study aimed to clarify the profiles and influencing factors of FoP among colorectal cancer patients. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 409 colorectal cancer patients. Convenience sampling method was used to select colorectal cancer patients hospitalized in a tertiary-level hospital in Nanjing as the survey subjects. General information questionnaire, Fear of Progression Questionnaire-Short Form, Distress Disclosure Index, and Social Support Rating Scale were used to collect the data. Latent profile analysis was used to explore the latent profiles of FoP in colorectal cancer patients. Additionally, the influencing factors of profiles were explored by Univariate Analysis and Binomial Logistic Regression Analysis. Results: Latent profile analysis identified two subgroups of fear of disease progression: the “fear low-risk profile (83%)”, and the “severe fear profile (17%).” Patients with low age, low social support utilization, first hospital admission, severe healthcare burden, and preoperative bowel symptoms were prone to severe fear of disease progression. Conclusions: There is some heterogeneity in the level of postoperative fear of disease progression in colorectal cancer patients. Doctors and nurses should focus on patients with severe fear and take targeted preventive and psychological care for patients’ fear of disease progression as early as possible according to the distribution characteristics of different categories. We report an unprecedented Ni‐catalyzed direct monofluoromethylthiolation of acyl chlorides, in situ generated from carboxylic acids, with elemental sulfur (S8) as the S source and fluoroiodomethane (ICH2F) as the CH2F radical source to produce a series of monofluoromethylthioesters in moderate to good yields. This approach features excellent functional group tolerance and broad substrate scope. High-volume fraction silicon carbide particle-reinforced aluminum (SiCp/Al) has a promising application for its high specific strength, wear resistance, and thermal conductivity. However, SiCp/Al components with a high-volume fraction are prone to poor surface quality and defects such as fractures, cracks, and micro-pits. It has been reported that ultrasonic-assisted grinding machining (UAG) helps to improve the quality of SiCp/Al machined surfaces. However, the differences between SiCp/Al with different volume fractions obtained by UAG machining are not clear. Therefore, a comparative study of surface roughness, morphology, and cutting force was carried out by UAG machining on SiCp/Al samples with volume fractions of 45% and 60%. Compared to the 45% volume fraction SiCp/Al, the 60% volume fraction SiCp/Al has a higher cutting force and roughness under the same machining parameters. In addition, experiments have shown that cutting forces and surface roughness can be reduced by increasing the tool speed or decreasing the feed rate. UAG machining with an ultrasonic amplitude within 4 μm can also reduce cutting forces and surface roughness. However, more than 6 μm ultrasonic amplitude may lead to an increase in roughness. Prokaryotes play a fundamental role in global ocean biogeochemical cycles. However, how the abundance and metabolic activity of ecologically distinct subgroups (i.e., high nucleic acid (HNA) and low nucleic acid (LNA) cells), and their regulating factors, change in response to changing marine environmental conditions remains poorly understood. Here, we delved into the time-evolving dynamic responses of the HNA and LNA prokaryotic subgroups to declining resource availability and selective grazing by protozoa by conducting a 73-day incubation experiment in a large-volume (117,000 L) macrocosm that facilitates community-level exploration. We found that the metabolic activity of the HNA subgroup was higher than that of the LNA subgroup when the macrocosm was resource replete but that the HNA subgroup declined more rapidly than the LNA subgroup as the resources became increasingly scarce, leading to a steadily increasing contribution of LNA cells to prokaryotic activity. Meanwhile, as resources in the macrocosm became limited, protozoan grazing preference shifted from the HNA to the LNA subgroup and the contributions of the LNA subgroup to the carbon flow within the macrocosm increased. The findings highlight the resilience of LNA cells in resource-limited environments, illuminate the critical role of selective grazing by protozoa in balancing distinct prokaryotic subgroups under changing resource conditions, and demonstrate the complex and adaptive interactions between protozoa and prokaryotes across diverse environmental contexts. Summary This article handles the probability‐guaranteed state estimation problem for a class of nonlinear memristive neural networks (MNNs) by using an event‐triggered mechanism. Both time‐varying delays and incomplete measurements are considered in the MNNs dynamics. To mitigate the impact of limited communication bandwidth, a communication protocol is proposed that incorporates an encoding–decoding technique in addition to an event‐triggered scheme. The aim is to devise a state estimator that can estimate the states of MNNs, ensuring that the state estimation error falls within the required ellipsoidal area with a desired chance. We obtain sufficient conditions for the feasibility of the addressed problem, where the requested gains can be found iteratively by solving certain convex optimization problems. On the basis of the proposed framework, some issues are further presented to determine locally optimal estimator parameters according to different specifications. The innovative arc pressure testing method (APTM) is adopted in this study to obtain the strength of in situ concrete and reduce damage to the concrete structure. This method is related to the double shear plane of the concrete core. A specific APTM apparatus is used to apply loads in order to obtain the approximate pure shear stress and shear strength of the concrete core. Factors affecting the strength of concrete, such as aggregate type and concrete moisture, were found not to have an impact of the applicability of APTM. The compressive strength range of the tested cube concrete samples is 20–60 MPa. The reliability and repeatability of APTM are superior to in situ testing techniques such as Schmidt hammer (SRH) and pull-off testing methods. The experimental results indicate that APTM is suitable for in situ testing of concrete compressive strength of prefabricated buildings and beam–column joints in dense steel structures. Background: Results of research on radiological hallmarks of multiple sclerosis (MS) fatigue have been conflicting. Objective: To investigate the associations of lesion and brain compartment volumes with fatigue severity and persistence in people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS). Methods: The Multiple Sclerosis Partners Advancing Technology and Health Solutions (MS PATHS) network collects standardized data during routine care of PwMS from 10 healthcare institutions. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) predictors included baseline brain parenchymal (BPF) and gray matter fractions (GMF) and T2 lesion volume (T2LV). The Quality of Life in Neurological Disorders (Neuro-QOL) fatigue subscore was analyzed linearly and categorically using T-score cutpoints, with a period of elevated symptoms defined as T-score ⩾ mean + 0.5 SD over follow-up. Results: At baseline, of 4012 participants (average age: 45.6 ± 11.8 years; 73% female; 31% progressive MS), 2058 (51%) had no fatigue, 629 (16%) had mild fatigue, and 1325 (33%) had moderate-to-severe fatigue. One SD greater baseline BPF and GMF were associated with 0.83 (p < 0.001) and 0.38 (p = 0.02) lower values in the baseline Neuro-QOL fatigue T-score. A 1 SD lower log of total T2LV was associated with a 0.49 (p < 0.001) lower baseline fatigue T-score. Higher BPF and lower T2LV at baseline were associated with lower odds of subsequent periods of elevated fatigue. Conclusion: Baseline lesion burden and lower generalized whole-brain volumes were associated with MS fatigue in cross-sectional and longitudinal analyses in a large, real-world cohort of PwMS. Anti‐virulence therapy that interferes with bacterial communication, known as "quorum sensing (QS)", is a promising strategy for circumventing bacterial resistance. Using nanomaterials to regulate bacterial QS in anti‐virulence therapy has attracted much attention, which is mainly attributed to unique physicochemical properties and excellent designability of nanomaterials. However, bacterial QS is a dynamic and multistep process, and there are significant differences in the specific regulatory mechanisms and related influencing factors of nanomaterials in different steps of the QS process. An in‐depth understanding of the specific regulatory mechanisms and related influencing factors of nanomaterials in each step can significantly optimize QS regulatory activity and enhance the development of novel nanomaterials with better comprehensive performance. Therefore, this review focuses on the mechanisms by which nanomaterials regulate bacterial QS in the signal supply (including signal synthesis, secretion, and accumulation) and signal transduction cascade (including signal perception and response) processes. Moreover, based on the two key influencing factors (i.e., the nanomaterial itself and the environment), optimization strategies to enhance the QS regulatory activity are comprehensively summarized. Collectively, applying nanomaterials to regulate bacterial QS is a promising strategy for anti‐virulence therapy. Phosphor‐converted near‐infrared (NIR) LEDs are becoming increasingly demanded as miniature, portability, and broad emission spectrum. In this work, a class of Fe3+‐activated double perovskite structured is reported ALaBB′O6 (A = Ba, Sr, Ca; B–B′ = Li–Te, Mg–Sb) phosphors. Through the co‐substitution strategy at the A‐site and B‐B' sites, the emission spectral intensity and position of Fe3+ ions can be tuned. Finally, by utilizing Ca2+ at the A‐site and Mg–Sb co‐substitution for Li–Te, long‐wave NIR emission centered at 995 nm in CaLaMgSbO6: 0.6%Fe3+ with a full width at half maximum of 147 nm and internal quantum efficiency of 54.05% is achieved. The effects of the double perovskite crystal structure on Fe3+ photoluminescence properties are comprehensively analyzed. NIR LEDs are fabricated by encapsulating UV chips with the synthetic CaLaMgSbO6: 0.6%Fe3+ phosphors, and their application value in night vision, nondestructive biological monitoring, and NIR detection is evaluated. Objective: To describe the clinical features of a cohort of individuals with stiff person syndrome spectrum disorders (SPSD) and identify potential early predictors of future disability. Background: There is a need to better understand the full spectrum of clinical and paraclinical features and long-term impact of SPSD. Design/Methods: Observational study from 1997 to 2022 at Johns Hopkins. Clinical phenotypes included classic SPS, partial SPS (limb or trunk limited), SPS-plus (classic features plus cerebellar/brainstem involvement), and progressive encephalomyelitis with rigidity and myoclonus (PERM). Outcome measures were modified Rankin scale (mRS) and use of assistive device for ambulation. Multivariate logistic regression was used to assess significant predictors of outcomes. Results: Cohort included 227 individuals with SPSD with mean follow-up of 10 years; 154 classic, 48 SPS-plus, 16 PERM, and 9 partial. Mean age at symptom onset was 42.9 ± 14.1 years, majority were white (69.2%) and female (75.8%). Median time to diagnosis was 36.2 months (longest for SPS-plus and PERM) and 61.2% were initially misdiagnosed. Most had systemic co-morbidities and required assistive devices for ambulation. Female sex (OR 2.08; CI 1.06–4.11) and initial brainstem/cerebellar involvement (OR 4.41; CI 1.63–14.33) predicted worse outcome by mRS. Older age at symptom onset (OR 1.04; CI 1.01–1.06), female sex (OR 1.99; CI 1.01–4.01), Black race (OR 4.14; CI 1.79–10.63), and initial brainstem/cerebellar involvement (OR 2.44; CI 1.04–7.19) predicted worse outcome by use of assistive device. Early implementation of immunotherapy was associated with better outcomes by either mRS (OR 0.45; CI 0.22–0.92) or use of assistive device (OR 0.79; CI 0.66–0.94). Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease characterized by multi-organ multi-system inflammation, causing severe damage to various organs or systems. Recent studies have shown that miR-155 can affect the progression of Lupus Nephritis via regulating TNF-a. The present study aims to explore the roles of MIR155HG and TNF-a in the evaluation of prognosis of patients with SLE, so as to provide a basis for clinical work. Methods: A total of 130 patients with SLE admitted to our hospital were selected, were selected from June 2015 to December 2017., and the SLE disease activity index (SLEDAI) score was given. 1 he expressions of MIR155HG and 1 NF-a were detected via quantitative reverse transcription-polyme-rase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), the incidence of complications during treatment was observed, and the associations of MIR155HG and TNF-a with SLEDAI before treatment and complications were analyzed. All patients were followed up after discharge, and the related factors to the prognosis of patients were analyzed via Cox regression analysis. Results: The levels of MIR155HG and TNF-a were higher in patients with an SLEDAI score of 10-14 points than those in patients with an SLEDAI score of 5-9 points and 0-4 points. MIR155HG and TNF-a were positively correlated with the incidence of infection, renal damage and cardiac damage (r=0.623, 0.533 and 0.621; r=0.431, 0.498 and 0.552) (P<0.05). Moreover, there was also a positive correlation (r=0.3398, PcO.001) between the expressions of serum MIR155HG and TNF-a in SLE patients. SLEDAI score Ž10 points, complications during hospitalization, and highly-expressed MIR155HG and TNF-a were risk factors related to the prognosis of patients. Conclusions: MIR155HG and TNF-a affect the activity of SLE, and the high expressions of them promote the occurrence of such complications as infection, renal damage and cardiac damage, harming the prognosis. In the autonomous navigation of mobile robots, precise positioning is crucial. In forest environments with weak satellite signals or in sites disturbed by complex environments, satellite positioning accuracy has difficulty in meeting the requirements of autonomous navigation positioning accuracy for robots. This article proposes a vision SLAM/UWB tightly coupled localization method and designs a UWB non-line-of-sight error identification method using the displacement increment of the visual odometer. It utilizes the displacement increment of visual output and UWB ranging information as measurement values and applies the extended Kalman filtering algorithm for data fusion. This study utilized the constructed experimental platform to collect images and ultra-wideband ranging data in outdoor environments and experimentally validated the combined positioning method. The experimental results show that the algorithm outperforms individual UWB or loosely coupled combination positioning methods in terms of positioning accuracy. To address the issues of reduced performance and shortened lifespan during the low-carbonizating process of Al2O3-C refractories, nano-crystalline ZrC modified graphite was prepared using Zr powder and flake graphite as raw materials, with NaCl and NaF mixed salt serving as the medium. The flake graphite was gradually replaced by ZrC modified graphite in the preparation of Al2O3-C refractories, and its impact on the material's structure and properties was investigated. The results indicate that, compared to samples with only flake graphite, the introduction of 1 mass % to 5 mass % nano-crystalline ZrC modified graphite can significantly enhance the mechanical performance of low-carbon Al2O3-C refractories. When 5 mass % ZrC modified graphite is added, the mechanical properties of the samples are optimal, with the cold modulus of rupture and elastic modulus reaching 22.5 MPa and 65.0 GPa, respectively. An economical and stable single-shot pulse picker design without dispersion, nonlinear effect, and limitation on wavelength is proposed. This design is composed of a periodic pulse blocker (PPB), a control unit, and a mechanical shutter. It has successfully been applied to the commercial high-fluence femtosecond laser with 11-mm beam diameter, 2-mJ pulse energy, and 1-kHz repetition rate. Significantly, by incorporating commercial optical choppers equipped with custom-designed chopper blades in the PPB, this design can accommodate lasers with fluences reaching 610 mJ/cm2 and the standard 1 kHz repetition rate typical of high-fluence lasers. Objective • This study aims to investigate the potential of mustard oil-induced reduction in acetylcholine expression as a means to delay the progression of colon cancer within the internal environment. Methods • The study design in this research involved both in vitro cellular experiments and in vivo animal experiments to employ mustard oil to modulate acetylcholine expression levels and evaluate its impact on colon cancer. Cellular experiments involved the introduction of six concentrations of acetylcholine (10-2, 10-3, 10-4, 10-5, 10-6, and 10-7 mol/L) into colon cancer cell cultures to monitor cell proliferation. Animal experiments encompassed the subcutaneous CT26 colon cancer cells implantation into 28 Balb/c mice, divided into experimental and control groups. After tumor establishment, both groups were fed standard diets for two weeks. Serum acetylcholine concentrations were measured from eye blood samples. Additionally, Balb/c mice were inoculated with CT26- derived colon cancer cells and further categorized into experimental and control groups. A total of 14 mice comprised each group, with experimental mice fed mustard oil and control mice fed soybean oil. Post two weeks, serum acetylcholine expression in both groups was assessed. After sacrifice, subcutaneous tumors were excised, and tumor dimensions were measured using a Vernier scale. Results • Acetylcholine concentration augmentation in the culture medium corresponded to gradual cell proliferation escalation, peaking at 10-5 mol/L, exhibiting statistical significance. Comparative analysis revealed significantly elevated relative acetylcholine expression levels in Balb/c mice with tumor-bearing colon cancers compared to normal Balb/c mice. Experimental group mice exhibited substantially lower serum acetylcholine concentrations than control group mice. Mustard oil administration effectively curtailed acetylcholine expression in normal Balb/c mice, consequently retarding tumor growth. These findings underscore mustard oil’s potential to diminish serum acetylcholine expression, thereby delaying colon cancer progression. Conclusions • This study suggests that mustard oil’s modulation of acetylcholine expression within the internal environment holds the potential for impeding colon cancer growth. Machin County is situated in the Sanjiangyuan Nature Reserve in the southeastern part of Qinghai Province. Influenced by the special topography and climate of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Machin County has complex and diverse plant species. The vascular plant resources and diversity in Machin County were studied through field survey, literature review and specimen identification. The results show that there are 47 families and 127 genera and 256 species of vascular plants in the region, basically angiosperms, including those containing more species of the family Asteraceae, Buttercup, Genus Ginseng, Leguminosae and Rosaceae, and those containing more species of the genus Artemisia, Artemisia, Aster and Donzonia. In terms of life type, perennial herbs are the most dominant ones, accounting for 77.34% of the total number of species, followed by some annual (or biennial) herbs and shrub types. There are 191 species of medicinal vascular plants, accounting for 74.61% of the total number of species, including 48 species of Tibetan medicine. In terms of the medicinal parts of these plants, whole herb category is the most common one, followed by the root and rhizome category. Summary: Drought is a major abiotic stress that impairs plant growth and development. Despite this, a comprehensive understanding of drought effects on the photosynthetic apparatus is lacking. In this work, we studied the consequences of 14‐d drought treatment on Arabidopsis thaliana.We used biochemical and spectroscopic methods to examine photosynthetic membrane composition and functionality.Drought led to the disassembly of PSII supercomplexes and the degradation of PSII core. The light‐harvesting complexes (LHCII) instead remain in the membrane but cannot act as an antenna for active PSII, thus representing a potential source of photodamage. This effect can also be observed during nonphotochemical quenching (NPQ) induction when even short pulses of saturating light can lead to photoinhibition. At a later stage, under severe drought stress, the PSI antenna size is also reduced and the PSI‐LHCI supercomplexes disassemble. Surprisingly, although we did not observe changes in the PSI core protein content, the functionality of PSI is severely affected, suggesting the accumulation of nonfunctional PSI complexes.We conclude that drought affects both photosystems, although at a different stage, and that the operative quantum efficiency of PSII (ΦPSII) is very sensitive to drought and can thus be used as a parameter for early detection of drought stress. Phlebopus portentosus (Berk. and Broome) Boedijn is an attractive edible mushroom and is considered the only bolete for which artificial cultivation in vitro has been achieved. Gene expression analysis has become widely used in research on edible fungi and is important for elucidating the functions of genes involved in complex biological processes. Selecting appropriate reference genes is crucial to ensuring reliable RT‒qPCR gene expression analysis results. In our study, a total of 12 candidate control genes were selected from 25 traditional housekeeping genes based on their expression stability in 9 transcriptomes of 3 developmental stages. These genes were further evaluated using geNorm, NormFinder, and RefFinder under different conditions and developmental stages. The results revealed that MSF1 domain-containing protein (MSF1), synaptobrevin (SYB), mitogen-activated protein kinase genes (MAPK), TATA-binding protein 1 (TBP1), and SPRY domain protein (SPRY) were the most stable reference genes in all sample treatments, while elongation factor 1-alpha (EF1), actin and ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme (UBCE) were the most unstably expressed. The gene SYB was selected based on the transcriptome results and was identified as a novel reference gene in P. portentosus. This is the first detailed study on the identification of reference genes in this fungus and may provide new insights into selecting genes and quantifying gene expression. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Competing risks data are commonly encountered in randomized clinical trials and observational studies. This paper considers the situation where the ending statuses of competing events have different clinical interpretations and/or are of simultaneous interest. In clinical trials, often more than one competing event has meaningful clinical interpretations even though the trial effects of different events could be different or even opposite to each other. In this paper, we develop estimation procedures and inferential properties for the joint use of multiple cumulative incidence functions (CIFs). Additionally, by incorporating longitudinal marker information, we develop estimation and inference procedures for weighted CIFs and related metrics. The proposed methods are applied to a COVID‐19 in‐patient treatment clinical trial, where the outcomes of COVID‐19 hospitalization are either death or discharge from the hospital, two competing events with completely different clinical implications. Background: Consistent findings on underlying brain features or specific structural atrophy patterns contributing to depression in multiple sclerosis (MS) are limited. Objective: To investigate how deep gray matter (DGM) features predict depressive symptom trajectories in MS patients. Methods: We used data from the MS Partners Advancing Technology and Health Solutions (MS PATHS) network in which standardized patient information and outcomes are collected. We performed whole-brain segmentation using SLANT-CRUISE. We assessed if DGM structures were associated with elevated depressive symptoms over follow-up and with depressive symptom phenotypes. Results: We included 3844 participants (average age: 46.05 ± 11.83 years; 72.7% female) of whom 1905 (49.5%) experienced ⩾1 periods of elevated depressive symptoms over 2.6 ± 0.9 years mean follow-up. Higher caudate, putamen, accumbens, ventral diencephalon, thalamus, and amygdala volumes were associated with lower odds of elevated depressive symptoms over follow-up (odds ratio (OR) range per 1 SD (standard deviation) increase in volume: 0.88–0.94). For example, a 1 SD increase in accumbens or caudate volume was associated with 12% or 10% respective lower odds of having a period of elevated depressive symptoms over follow-up (for accumbens: OR: 0.88; 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.83–0.93; p < 0.001; for caudate: OR: 0.90; 95% CI: 0.85–0.96; p = 0.003). Manipulating magnetic properties by purely electrical means is a key challenge to improve information technology. In the three-dimensional ferromagnetic (FM) metal thin films, for example, the 3d-transitonal metal thin films Fe, Co, and Ni, the electric-field effect is restricted within the surface around 2–3 Å due to the screening effect, and it is hard to separate the bulk and surface states. In the present investigation, through first-principles calculations, we explore the electric-field effect on the two-dimensional (2D) FM metal monolayers Fe3GeTe2, Fe3GeSe2, and Fe3GeTeSe. It is found that magnetic anisotropy energy (MAE) of these three materials follows the sequence: Fe3GeTe2 > Fe3GeTeSe > Fe3GeSe2, because the atomic spin–orbital coupling of Te is much stronger than that of Se. The most interesting finding is that the electric-field effect on MAE is obviously enhanced in Fe3GeTeSe, which is nearly ten times of Fe3GeTe2 and Fe3GeSe2, and we find the large difference results from its asymmetric structure. Silicon carbide (SiC) fiber‐reinforced SiC matrix (SiC/SiC) composites have emerged as a new material candidate for fuel claddings in light water reactors. Recent studies showed that the load capacity of SiC/SiC materials exhibits a considerable statistical variation. Therefore, reliability analysis plays a critical role in design of SiC/SiC composite claddings. This paper presents a probabilistic model for the lifetime distribution of SiC/SiC composites. The model is anchored by a multiaxial stress‐based failure criterion and subcritical damage accumulation mechanism. Based on the kinetics of subcritical damage growth, the lifetime distribution of a laboratory test specimen for any given loading history can be calculated. A finite weakest‐link model is used to extrapolate the lifetime distribution of test specimens to full‐length claddings. It is shown that the damage accumulation mechanism has a strong influence on the lifetime distribution of the cladding. This finding highlights the importance of understanding the static fatigue behavior of SiC/SiC composites. Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common malignant tumors of the digestive system, ranking third for morbidity and mortality worldwide. At present, no effective control method is available for this cancer type. In tumor cells, especially iron metabolization, is necessary for its growth and proliferation. High levels of iron are an important feature to maintain tumor growth; however, the overall mechanism remains unclear. Methods: We used western blotting, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and real-time quantitative PCR to analyze the expression of IGF2BP2 in cell lines and tissues. Further, RNA-sequencing, RNA immunoprecipitation and methylated RNA immunoprecipitation experiments explored the specific binding of target genes. Moreover, the RNA stability assay was performed to determine the half-life of genes downstream of IGF2BP2. In addition, the Cell Counting Kit-8, colony formation assay, 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine assay and flow cytometry were used to evaluate the effects of IGF2BP2 on proliferation and iron metabolism. Lastly, the role of IGF2BP2 in promoting CRC growth was demonstrated in animal models. Results: We observed that IGF2BP2 is associated with iron homeostasis and that TFRC is a downstream target of IGF2BP2. Further, overexpression of TFRC can rescue the growth of IGF2BP2-knockdown CRC cells. Mechanistically, we determined that IGF2BP2 regulates TFRC methylation via METTL4, thereby regulating iron metabolism and promoting CRC growth. Furthermore, using animal models, we observed that IGF2BP2 promotes CRC growth. Conclusion: IGF2BP2 regulates TFRC mRNA methylation via METTL4, thereby regulating iron metabolism and promoting CRC growth. Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common chronic skin disorder, associated with increased risks of emotional and behavioural problems.[1] However, the few previous studies examining the relationship of AD with school performance and cognitive function among adolescents showed conflicting results.[[2], [4], [6]] Two studies ( I n i > 530 000) observed no association,[3],[5] one study ( I n i > 10 000) decreased risks[2] and three studies ( I n i > 300 000) increased risks[4],[6],[7] of poorer school performance and/or lower cognitive function among those with (severe) AD as compared with no or mild AD. BACKGROUND: In the absence of contraindications to implants, implant repair is the preferred method to treat mandibular second molar loss. OBJECTIVE: To compare the clinical effects of a traditional implant guide and digital implant guide in the early implant restoration of second molars. METHODS: The study included 35 patients with second molar loss randomly divided into two groups. Eighteen patients in the experimental group had an implant procedure using a computer-aided design/computer-assisted manufacturing (CAD/CAM) digital implant guide, and 17 patients in the control group had the procedure using a traditional film pressing implantation guide. Then, the surgical procedure was completed using the two different implant guides. At 3 months after surgery, four parameters including screw hole exit position, coronal deviation of the implant site, disease improvement rate, and clinical effects, which included marginal adaptation, anatomic form, marginal discoloration, postoperative sensitivity, surface roughness, and secondary caries of the upper prosthesis were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: The screw hole exit position in the experimental group was directed to the functional cusp of the opposite jaw, and there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups. There was no statistically significant difference in the rate of disease improvement and the clinical effect of the upper prosthesis between the two groups. There was no statistically significant difference in the bilateral coronal deviation and deviation direction of implants in the two groups. The bilateral coronal deviation of the experimental group was smaller than that of the control group. CONCLUSION: The digital implant guide can effectively reduce the deviation of the screw hole and the upper prosthesis in the restoration of the second molar. Ageing mechanism of PEEK powders at optimal powder bed temperature (Tb) and factors affecting their reusability remain unclear. This study investigated effects of gas type (air, nitrogen, and argon) and holding time (0-8 h) on physico-chemical properties of PEEK powders at optimal Tb. The hardness of sintered single-layers was measured to evaluate the quality of the parts. Results revealed that the flowability, morphology, and crystallinity of PEEK powders changed with holding time in different gases. Further, the ageing mechanism involved chain crosslinking within molecular chains in all gases but chain breakage in air. Further, laser power required for SLS decreased with the increase in holding time. However, the hardness of single-layers was stable for powders aged in argon for up to 8 h, but decreased by 7% for powders aged in nitrogen for 4 h. Background: This study aims to investigate the clinical characteristics and the length of hospital stay (LOS), as well as risk factors for prolonged LOS in a cohort of asymptomatic and mild COVID-19 patients infected with the Omicron variant. Methods: A total of 1166 COVID-19 patients discharged from the inpatient ward of the largest makeshift hospital (May 8–10, 2022) in Shanghai, China, were included. The demographics, medical history, and the lowest and admission cycle threshold (Ct) values of the RT-PCR tests for SARS-CoV-2 genes of the open reading frame 1ab (Ct-ORF) and the nucleocapsid protein (Ct-N) during hospitalization were recorded. Patients with LOS > 7 days, or LOS ≤ 7 days were included in the Prolonged group or the Control group, separately. The clinical characteristics and LOS of the participants in the two groups were described and compared. Multivariate Logistic and linear regression analyses were applied to explore the risk factors for prolonged LOS. The diagnostic efficacy of the lowest and admission Ct values for the Prolonged group was tested via the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. Results: The median LOS was 6 days in the total study population. The age was older (45.52 ± 14.78 vs. 42.54 ± 15.30, P = 0.001), while both the lowest and admission Ct-ORF (27.68 ± 3.88 vs. 37.00 ± 4.62, P < 0.001; 30.48 ± 5.03 vs. 37.79 ± 3.81, P < 0.001) and Ct-N (25.79 ± 3.60 vs. 36.06 ± 5.39, P < 0.001; 28.71 ± 4.95 vs. 36.95 ± 4.59, P < 0.001) values were significantly lower in the Prolonged group. There were more mild cases in the Prolonged group (23.8% vs. 11.5%, P < 0.001). The symptom spectrum differed between the two groups. In multivariate analyses, age, disease category, and the lowest Ct-N values were shown to be associated with prolonged LOS. Besides, both the lowest and admission Ct-ORF (AUC = 0.911 and 0.873) and Ct-N (AUC = 0.912 and 0.874) showed robust diagnostic efficacy for prolonged LOS. Conclusions: Our study firstly reports the clinical characteristics and risk factors for prolonged LOS during the wave of the Omicron epidemic in Shanghai, China. These findings provide evidence for the early identification of asymptomatic and mild COVID-19 patients at a high risk of prolonged hospitalization who may require early intervention, and long-term monitoring and management. While existing SSL methods have shown promising results on image classification tasks, most of them rely on the cluster assumption that does not apply to image regression tasks. In this paper, we address the under-studied semi-supervised image regression problem, of which the outputs are continuous values instead of categorical distributions. To tackle this challenging task, we propose an algorithm, called ManiDKL, with the idea that the prediction function should be smooth with respect to the intrinsic manifold of data distribution and behave similarly on both labeled and unlabeled data. In particular, we propose a framework that implements the Tikhonov regularization with generative manifold learning to ensure manifold smoothness of regression function and also reduces the problem to kernel learning. Then a semi-supervised non-parametric Bayesian based deep kernel learning algorithm is proposed, in which unlabeled data are incorporated through posterior regularization. We show the effectiveness of ManiDKL with extensive experiments. It shows that ManiDKL performs comparatively with state-of-the-art SSL image classification methods. A burgeoning interest has recently focused on the development of nanomedicine to integrate noninvasive photothermal therapy (PTT) and chemodynamic therapy (CDT) for synergistic tumor treatments, owing to PTT's amplification effect on CDT. However, challenges emerge as hyperthermia often induces an unwarranted overexpression of cytoprotective heat shock proteins (HSPs), thereby curtailing PTT efficacy. Additionally, the nearly neutral tumor intracellular pH (pH i ≈ 7.2) that handicaps the Fenton reaction poses a leading limitation to CDT. Addressing these hurdles, we introduce EVP, a nanomedicine developed through the straightforward assembly of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), vanadium sulfate (VOSO 4), and Pluronic F-127 (PF127). EVP comprehensively downregulates overexpressed HSPs (HSP 60, 70, 90) through the collaborative action of EGCG and vanadyl (VO2+). Moreover, the tumor intracellular pH-processed Fenton-like reaction by VO2+ ensures highly efficient hydroxyl radicals (OH) production in cytosols, overcoming the stringent acidity requirement for CDT. Additionally, the hyperthermia induced by PTT augments OH production, further enhancing CDT efficacy. Polyethersulfone (PES) has widespread applications due to its excellent processability, mechanical strength, and chemical resistance. Nevertheless, its hydrophobic nature often leads to severe fouling and permeance decline. To improve the hydrophilicity of PES membranes, polymer blending is one of the most common methods. In this work, a series of sulfonated polyphenylene sulfones (sPPSU) with 1.9, 4.5, 8.2, 12.7, 19 degrees of sulfonation (DS) were synthesized and used to blend with PES. The PES/sPPSU blends were found to be compatible by calculating their theoretical enthalpy of mixing and measuring their glass transition temperatures (T g 's) at a blend weight ratio of 1:1. Ultrafiltration (UF) membranes were cast using the nonsolvent-induced phase separation (NIPS) method. It was found that 50/50 PES/sPPSU blend membranes with a DS equaling to or exceeding 8.2 eliminated finger-like macrovoids, resulting in a thinner and tight cross-sectional structure. A higher DS of sPPSU rendered the blend membranes with more hydrophilicity and oleophobicity as well as a more negatively charged surface. The unmodified PES membrane had rejections of 87.47 % and 91.5 % in ultrafiltration tests using feed solutions containing BSA and oil/water emulsion, respectively. The rejections could be further increased to 99.37 % and 97.17 % respectively by the blend membranes. The blend membranes consisting of a higher DS of sPPSU also exhibited a higher permeance, lower BSA absorption and better anti-fouling properties than the PES membrane. Propagating Lüders bands with pronounced strain localization are often observed in medium-Mn transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) steels, which adversely limits the application of such alloys in engineering structures. The present work aims to understand this phenomenon from a dislocation-based perspective, with a focus on the specific role of dislocation multiplication. The material studied is a typical dual-phase medium-Mn steel with a ferrite matrix and a second phase of retained austenite. A warm-rolling process was used as a pre-straining approach to adjust the microstructure of the material, such that materials with two different microstructural states can be obtained: as-received material and pre-strained material. They show distinct differences in initial dislocation density. Stress-controlled rather than conventional strain-controlled tensile testing was adopted, which allowed the Lüders band to develop in an unconstrained manner. In this way, the intrinsic Lüders-strain-rate can be obtained. The results show that the Lüders band-related mechanical parameters, including Lüders strain, Lüders-strain-rate and yield stress drop, all depend on the initial microstructure state and the dislocation evolution process during Lüders band formation. In particular, Lüders-strain-rate is a critical microstructure-sensitive factor. It is closely related to the dislocation multiplication in the formation of Lüders band, which can be characterized and quantified using scanning transmission electron microscope and synchrotron X-ray diffraction. Finally, a quantitative relationship between Lüders-strain-rate and dislocation multiplication rate is established, which allows providing a better understanding of the exceptional Lüders band phenomenon in medium-Mn steels. This paper presents an experimental investigation of the failure behavior of SiC fiber-reinforced SiC matrix (SiC/SiC) composite tubes under multiaxial loading. A new testing apparatus is designed to independently apply axial stress and internal pressure to SiC/SiC tubes. Acoustic emission (AE) is used to monitor the damage growth in the specimen. Based on the measured stress–strain response, a strain-based criterion is proposed to determine the proportional limit stress (PLS). The proposed strain-based criterion is compared with the PLS determined by the AE measurement. The PLS is determined for different loading ratios to form a multiaxial failure surface. By testing multiple replicates, the statistical variations of the PLS are determined. Based on the experimental results, a mathematical model is developed to characterize the probability distribution of the PLS of SiC/SiC composites under multiaxial loading. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) is known to be a proactive reliability analysis model broadly utilized to recognize and evaluate potential failure modes in various industries. The normal risk priority number (RPN) method, however, has suffers from a lot of criticisms, such as requirement of precise risk estimation, lack of scientific basis in computing RPN, and neglecting the weights of risk factors. Therefore, this paper devises a new FMEA model to evaluate and prioritize the risk of failure modes by integrating probabilistic linguistic term sets and TODIM (an acronym in Portuguese for interactive multi-criteria decision making) method. The probabilistic linguistic term sets are utilized to handle the intrinsic ambiguity existed in the risk assessments of FMEA team members, whilst an extended TODIM method is employed for determining the priority ranking of the individuated failure modes. Further, based on the technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS), an objective weighting method is presented to derive the relative weights of risk factors. Finally, two illustrative examples are implemented and comparisons with other existing methods are performed to demonstrate the rationality and superiority of our proposed FMEA model. This study demonstrates that a photo-thermal process, namely a concurrently light illumination during annealing, is an effective method to develop a high-quality BiFeO 3 (BFO) thin film. The wavelength-dependent light effect, which is determined by the photo absorption property of the sol-gel synthesized BFO solution, assisted in the decomposition of organic residues within the film during the thermal history. The photo absorption property of the BFO precursor varied with an exponential function of temperatures. By using a combination of an appropriate wavelength light illumination and a suitable temperature thermal annealing, the BFO film formed in a uniform dense microstructure with near-stoichiometric composition which was difficult to achieve with a traditional thermal process. We proposed the application of light illumination under thermal process would improve the reaction sequences of the constituent species as well as the crystallization mechanism of BFO, then providing the flexibility to control the film characteristics. Because of its fast scintillation peaked at 220 nm with a decay time of less than 0.6 ns, barium fluoride crystals have attracted broad interest in the community pursuing ultrafast detectors for future high energy physics (HEP) experiments and GHz hard X-ray imaging for future X-ray free-electron laser (XFEL) facilities. A crucial issue for its application is the spectral response of photodetectors down to vacuum ultraviolet (VUV). In this article, we compare quantum efficiency (QE) and photon detection efficiency (PDE) spectra measured for several ultraviolet (UV) photodetectors down to 200 nm. In this paper, we study the decentralized AdaBoost problem over sensor networks, and propose a fully decentralized AdaBoost algorithm, where each sensor can obtain the centralized global solution without transmission of private dataset. By decomposing the centralized cost function into a summation of local ones, we convert decentralized AdaBoost problem into a distributed optimization problem, and design a distributed alternating minimization method to solve it. In order to improve convergence rate, motivated by Nesterov gradient descent method, we propose a fast decentralized AdaBoost algorithm. Then, we prove the convergence of proposed algorithms. Moreover, we deduce decentralized AdaBoost algorithm for logistic regression in detail. The simulations with Spam-Email dataset illustrate the effectiveness of proposed algorithms. Fuzzy Petri nets (FPNs) are a useful instrument for modelling expert systems to conduct knowledge representation and reasoning. Many studies have been carried out for improving the performance of FPNs in terms of their accurate representation of knowledge and power of approximate reasoning. Nevertheless, the current representation methods with FPNs are unable to handle the uncertain linguistic knowledge given by domain experts and the reliability of their judgments. In addition, the existing reasoning algorithms have no way to capture the interrelationship of the propositions with the same output transition. Therefore, we present a new type of FPNs, called 2-dimensional uncertain linguistic Petri nets (2DULPNs). The 2-dimensional uncertain linguistic variables (2DULVs) and Choquet integral are combined for knowledge representation and reasoning for the first time. The truth degrees of propositions, thresholds and certainty values of linguistic production rules are denoted as 2DULVs. Some new aggregated operators based on Choquet integral are proposed and used in the approximate reasoning to capture the interactions among antecedent propositions. This study concentrates on the fatigue performance of ultra-high-strength steel Aermet100 under different loading rates. The standard specimen measured the static mechanical properties of Aermet100 steel, based on which the basic mechanical properties and fracture characteristics of the sample before and after necking was obtained. To take the strain rate effect into account, this study uses the dynamic constitutive model Johnson-Cook. The equation parameters are fitted through dynamic mechanical tests and quasi-static tests. This model is input into ABAQUS userdefined program afterward. Referring to the work done above, along with the extended finite element method (XFEM), this study establishes the dynamic fracture finite element model of the Aermet100 steel specimen on the basis of the continuous damage mechanics. Five groups of specimen fatigue tests were carried out in the laboratory. Simulation results show the feasibility and accuracy of the integrated XFEM model with the same loading and boundary conditions. The experimental data and simulation results prove that, in the loading time range of 0.0001 ~ 1s, the life cycles increase as the loading rate increases. Because of their potential low cost, bright light, and fast decay time, LuAG:Ce ceramic scintillators have attracted a broad interest in the high-energy physics community. One crucial issue for their application in future high-energy physics experiments is their radiation hardness against neutrons and protons expected at future hadron colliders. We report optical and scintillation performance of 1-mm LuAG:Ce ceramic samples doped with Mg2+ (and Ca2+) and their radiation damage induced by hadrons. While Mg2+ co-doping improves their light output, Ca2+ co-doping improves their fast to total (F/T) ratio. LuAG:Ce ceramic samples were irradiated at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE), Los Alamos, NM, USA, by neutrons up to $6.7\times 10^{15}\,\,\text{n}_{\mathrm {eq}}$ /cm2 and by 24-GeV and 800-MeV protons at CERN PS-IRRAD up to $1.2\times 10^{15}$ p/cm2 and at LANSCE up to $2.3\times 10^{14}$ p/cm2, respectively. All samples show excellent radiation hardness with more than 90% of light after irradiation. The RIAC values induced by neutrons are found to be a factor of 2 smaller than lutetium–yttrium oxyorthosilicate (LYSO:Ce) crystals. The RIAC values induced by protons are also found a factor of 2 smaller than LYSO:Ce crystals in LuAG:Ce ceramic samples with good optical quality. Amidst the escalating global water scarcity issues, finding better ways to sustainably treat brackish water and seawater while simultaneously recovering resources becomes increasingly important. In this work, we investigated the fabrication strategies to produce polyethersulfone hollow fiber membranes (PES HFMs) with robust characteristics and uniformly arranged shape. The presence of an air gap (AG) in the dry-wet spinning process facilitates the chain orientation due to the gravitational force and elongational stretch and moisture-induced early phase inversion, therefore preventing corrugations on the shell side. We extensively studied the correlation between HFM spinning parameters and the appearance and disappearance of buckling effects. Moreover, it was proven that the addition of N -methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) to the bore fluid composition prolongs the demixing process, overcoming the HFMs' delamination issue. After optimizing the spinning conditions, a facile alkali-induced interfacial polymerization (IP) was employed to enhance the formation of a selective polyamide (PA) layer on PES HFM substrates. The final membrane made by this modification process, denoted as PES-IP-BOH, exhibits a Na 2 SO 4 rejection higher than 96 %, while maintaining low rejections for other monovalent salts. Accordingly, it achieved a high ideal selectivity of >23 for the selective separation of monovalent and divalent salts. • PES HFMs for the precise separation of monovalent and divalent salts were produced. • The transition to a dry-wet spinning process hindered the shell side's deformation. • An increase in air gap or take up speed led to a higher critical buckling pressure. • NMP incorporation in the bore fluid overcame the delamination issue. • A novel alkali-induced IP process enhanced the crosslinking degree of HPEI and TMC. [Display omitted] • Mn(II) can activate PI to efficiently degrade sulfadiazine in water. • The Mn(II)/PI system is a non-radical process dominated by electron transfer. • The generated MnO 2 -PI complex plays an important role in SDZ degradation. • Stable iodates are the main iodine species in the Mn (II)/PI system. The present study investigated the mechanism of manganese ion (Mn(II))-activated periodate (PI) for rapid removal of sulfadiazine (SDZ). The Mn(II)/PI system showed excellent SDZ degradation results with 99.8 % degradation efficiency within 2 min at pH = 5.5. Mechanism study reveals that the degradation of SDZ in the Mn(II)/PI system takes place mainly through an electron transfer process. Mn(II) can be oxidized by PI to formed the in-situ MnO 2 , followed by the generation of MnO 2 -PI complex. Electrochemical methods have confirmed that the generated MnO 2 -PI complex significantly contributes to the degradation of pollutants. MnO 2 -PI mediates the transfer of electrons from SDZ to PI surface through surface vacancies, thereby achieving efficient degradation of pollutants. p -methoxyphenyl sulfone (PMSO) is used as a probe compound, and almost 90 % of PMSO is converted into PMSO 2 in the Mn(II)/PI/SDZ system, manifesting that excessive PI may oxidize active Mn(IV) to Mn(V). And the generated Mn(V) also contributes to the SDZ degradation. The SDZ degradation pathway is proposed and the transformation of iodine species is detected. Federated Learning (FL) has emerged as a powerful paradigm for training Machine Learning (ML), particularly Deep Learning (DL) models on multiple devices or servers while maintaining data localized at owners' sites. Without centralizing data, FL holds promise for scenarios where data integrity, privacy and security and are critical. However, this decentralized training process also opens up new avenues for opponents to launch unique attacks, where it has been becoming an urgent need to understand the vulnerabilities and corresponding defense mechanisms from a learning algorithm perspective. This review paper takes a comprehensive look at malicious attacks against FL, categorizing them from new perspectives on attack origins and targets, and providing insights into their methodology and impact. In this survey, we focus on threat models targeting the learning process of FL systems. Based on the source and target of the attack, we categorize existing threat models into four types, Data to Model (D2M), Model to Data (M2D), Model to Model (M2M) and composite attacks. For each attack type, we discuss the defense strategies proposed, highlighting their effectiveness, assumptions and potential areas for improvement. Defense strategies have evolved from using a singular metric to excluding malicious clients, to employing a multifaceted approach examining client models at various phases. In this survey paper, our research indicates that the to-learn data, the learning gradients, and the learned model at different stages all can be manipulated to initiate malicious attacks that range from undermining model performance, reconstructing private local data, and to inserting backdoors. We have also seen these threat are becoming more insidious. While earlier studies typically amplified malicious gradients, recent endeavors subtly alter the least significant weights in local models to bypass defense measures. This literature review provides a holistic understanding of the current FL threat landscape and highlights the importance of developing robust, efficient, and privacy-preserving defenses to ensure the safe and trusted adoption of FL in real-world applications. • Two cases of lung adenocarcinoma associated with rare EGFR R776L mutation. • Both patients exhibited poor response to EGFR inhibitor. • Single R776L mutation active EGFR signaling pathway. • Ba/F3 cells with stable EGFR R776L mutation expressed insensitive to EGFR inhibitors. Non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLC) account for 85 % of total lung cancers. Mutation in EGFR drives the progress of NSCLSs with high mortality rate. Besides the common mutations in EGFR, which together comprise of 85 % of all EGFR mutations and respond to the targeted therapy of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), many other low-frequency mutations of EGFR are existed in patients. The oncogenic roles and sensitivity of these mutations to EGFR TKIs are not fully understood yet. Here we described two cases of lung adenocarcinoma patients harboring EGFR R776L missense mutation, showed PD and SD after treatment with third-generation EGFR inhibitor, Almonertinib. Chemotherapy afterward showed PR effect in one patient with PSF of 10 months. We also explored the oncogenic feature of single R776L mutation by Ba/F3 isogenic cells and found that, EGFR R776L mutation activates EGFR-related survival signaling pathway in Ba/F3 cells, and they are insensitive to gefitinib, afatinib, and Almonertinib, which consistent with our clinical observation. Background: Oncologic surgical resection is the standard of care for extremity and truncal soft tissue sarcoma (STS), often accompanied by the addition of pre- or postoperative radiation therapy (RT). Preoperative RT may decrease the risk of joint stiffness and fibrosis at the cost of higher rates of wound complications. Hypofractionated, preoperative RT has been shown to provide acceptable outcomes in prospective trials. Proton beam therapy (PBT) provides the means to decrease dose to surrounding organs at risk, such as the skin, bone, soft tissues, and adjacent joint(s), and has not yet been studied in patients with extremity and truncal sarcoma. Methods: Our study titled "PROspective phase II trial of preoperative hypofractionated protoN therapy for extremity and Truncal soft tissue sarcOma (PRONTO)" is a non-randomized, prospective phase II trial evaluating the safety and efficacy of preoperative, hypofractionated PBT for patients with STS of the extremity and trunk planned for surgical resection. Adult patients with Eastern Cooperative Group Performance Status ≤ 2 with resectable extremity and truncal STS will be included, with the aim to accrue 40 patients. Treatment will consist of 30 Gy radiobiological equivalent of PBT in 5 fractions delivered every other day, followed by surgical resection 2–12 weeks later. The primary outcome is rate of major wound complications as defined according to the National Cancer Institute of Canada Sarcoma2 (NCIC-SR2) Multicenter Trial. Secondary objectives include rate of late grade ≥ 2 toxicity, local recurrence-free survival and distant metastasis-free survival at 1- and 2-years, functional outcomes, quality of life, and pathologic response. Discussion: PRONTO represents the first trial evaluating the use of hypofractionated PBT for STS. We aim to prove the safety and efficacy of this approach and to compare our results to historical outcomes established by previous trials. Given the low number of proton centers and limited availability, the short course of PBT may provide the opportunity to treat patients who would otherwise be limited when treating with daily RT over several weeks. We hope that this trial will lead to increased referral patterns, offer benefits towards patient convenience and clinic workflow efficiency, and provide evidence supporting the use of PBT in this setting. Background: There are few studies on the differences in clinical outcomes with implant guides made by different methods in cases with a single tooth loss and adjacent tooth supportOBJECTIVE: To compare the use of digital and traditional implant guides in patients whose first molars are absent and who are undergoing implant restoration.Methods: This study included 42 patients with first molars missing who were randomly divided into two groups: the digital group (n= 21) and the control group (n= 21). A CAD/CAM digital implant guide was used in the digital group, whereas a traditional impression was used in the control group. Then, the labor time, the intraoral fit of the implant guide, and the deviation of the screw access channel position were compared between the two groups.Results: The impression time and implant surgery time in the digital group were less than in the traditional group. The intraoral first fit of the guide in the digital group was higher than in the control group (P< 0.05). The one-time satisfaction rate of the digital group was 100%, while five cases in the control group needed to be redone. In the digital group, there was no significant difference in the deviation of the screw access channel position between implants on the left and right sides. In the control group, the deviation of the screw access channel position on the right side was significantly lower than on the left side. Overall, the deviation of the screw access channel position was significantly lower in the digital group than in the control group.Conclusions: In a first molar implant, the digital implant guide can effectively reduce the clinical operative time and the screw access deviation and improve efficiency. Flash drought is distinguished with seasonal drought by its characteristics of sudden onset and rapid intensification, and has attracted increasing concern due to the severe negative impacts on socioeconomic development and ecosystems. To accurate identify the onset time and propagation of flash drought is still a big challenge, as it is influenced by many factors (e.g., deficit in precipitation, increase in evapotranspiration and temperature, shortage in soil moisture, and etc.). This study aims to develop a probabilistic and multivariable flash drought identification method (PMFDI) from the perspective of considering the interaction effects from different driving factors on flash drought occurrence and propagation with a multivariable statistical tool. The PMFDI uses the weekly standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index and the standardized soil moisture index to describe the abnormally changes in multiple hydrometeorological variables over a short duration. The linearly multivariable index (LMI) is employed to describe the correlation relationship between multiple hydrometeorological variables and to identify flash droughts from the aspects of sudden onset and rapid intensification. We select the Loess Plateau (LP) in China to verify the efficiency of the developed PMFDI with the comparison to the other two recently proposed flash drought identification methods. The results indicate that PMFDI can identify high‐ and low‐ frequency regions similar to those identified by the other two methods and can generally recognize actual flash droughts. In addition, the PMFDI can capture the comprehensive impact of multiple hydrometeorological variables as well as their interaction on flash drought occurrence, which provides a useful perspective to understand the propagation processes of the actual flash droughts in the LP. Channel estimation is challenging for the reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided wireless communications. Since the number of coefficients of the cascaded channel among the base station (BS), the RIS, and the user equipment (UE), is the product of the number of BS antennas, the number of RIS elements, and the number of UEs, the pilot overhead can be prohibitively high. In this paper, we propose a two-timescale channel estimation framework to exploit the property that the BS-RIS channel is high-dimensional but quasi-static, while the RIS-UE channel is mobile but low-dimensional. Specifically, to estimate the quasi-static BS-RIS channel, we propose a dual-link pilot transmission scheme, where the BS transmits downlink pilots and receives uplink pilots reflected by the RIS. Then, we propose a coordinate descent-based algorithm to recover the BS-RIS channel. Since the quasi-static BS-RIS channel is estimated less frequently than the mobile channel is, the average pilot overhead can be reduced from a long-term perspective. Although the mobile RIS-UE channel has to be frequently estimated in a small timescale, the associated pilot overhead is low thanks to its low dimension. Background: Trichinellosis is a serious zoonotic disease distributed around the world. It is needed to develop a safe, effective and feasible anti-Trichinella vaccine for prevention and control of trichinellosis. The aim of this study was to construct a recombinant Lactobacillus plantarum encoding Trichinella spiralis inorganic pyrophosphatase (TsPPase) and investigate its immune protective effects against T. spiralis infection. Methodology/Principal findings: The growth of recombinant L. plantarum was not affected by TsPPase/pSIP409-pgsA′ plasmid, and the recombinant plasmid was inherited stably in bacteria. Western blot and immunofluorescence assay (IFA) indicated that the rTsPPase was expressed on the surface of recombinant L. plantarum. Oral vaccination with rTsPPase induced higher levels of specific serum IgG, IgG1, IgG2a and mucosal secretory IgA (sIgA) in BALB/c mice. ELISA analysis revealed that the levels of IFN-γ and IL-4 released from spleen, mesenteric lymph nodes and Peyer's patches were evidently increased at 2–4 weeks following vaccination, compared to MRS (De Man, Rogosa, Sharpe) medium control group (P < 0.05). Immunization of mice with rTsPPase exhibited a 67.18, 54.78 and 51.91% reduction of intestinal infective larvae, adult worms and muscle larvae at 24 hours post infection (hpi), 6 days post infection (dpi) and 35 dpi, respectively (P < 0.05), and the larval molting and development was significantly inhibited by 45.45% at 24 hpi, compared to the MRS group. Conclusions: TsPPase plays a crucial role in T. spiralis molting and development, oral vaccination with rTsPPase induced a significant local mucosal sIgA response and systemic Th1/Th2 immune response, and immune protection against T. spiralis infection in BALB/c mice.
