Abstract

Background and purpose: The response of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive invasive breast cancer to HER2 targeted neoadjuvant therapy is significant. However, the response is not uniform, and a proportion of patients respond poorly. This study aimed to identify predictors of response in the neoadjuvant treatment and to assess the discordance rate of HER2 status between pre- and post-treatment specimens in HER2-positive breast cancer. Methods: The study group included 110 HER2-positive breast cancer patients treated with neoadjuvant therapy and surgery who were diagnosed from 2019 to 2021 in Shenzhen People’s Hospital. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) were used to detect the expression of HER2 in core needle biopsy specimens. Pathological complete response (pCR) and residual cancer burden (RCB) of surgically resected specimens after neoadjuvant therapy were used to assess the therapy response of patients. HER2, estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) status were further assessed in the residual invasive carcinoma present after neoadjuvant therapy. Results: One hundred and ten breast cancer patients were divided into IHC diffuse 3+ group (n=81), heterogeneous 3+ group (n=20), IHC 2+ and FISH amplified (2+FISH+) group (n=9). The pCR rate of HER2 diffuse 3+ group was 54.3%, which was significantly higher compared with heterogeneous 3+ group (5.0%) and 2+FISH+ group (11.1%), and the difference was statistically significant (P

Abstract

Elucidating changes in the structure and function of plant communities along different elevation ranges will help researchers to analyze the strategies plant communities use in environments and processes influencing niche differentiation. The aims of this paper are to reveal the underlying mechanisms and ecological processes governing the development of subtropical forest ecosystem plant communities. This paper analyzes the forest vegetation of the Wuyi Mountains across the following three elevation ranges: low elevation, mid elevation, and high elevation, spanning from 560 to 2150 m. Twenty and twenty-three dominant tree and shrub layer species, respectively, were identified based on their importance values, and their niches and species associations were further analyzed based on the elevation range. The results showed interspecific associations between tree and shrub species, with the strongest associations observed at mid-elevations. The analysis of niche width and overlap showed that the number of pairs of species with a higher degree of niche overlap decreased with increasing elevation, suggesting that resource use varied at different elevations for both tree and shrub layer species, which may be related to the adaptive capacity of plants at different elevations to the environment and resource use strategies. 45. Engineering Anatase/Brookite TiO2Heterophase Junctions via Nitrogen Doping to Improve Photocatalytic Transfer Hydrogenation

Abstract

Engineering a heterophase junction is an efficient approach to improve the photocatalytic performance of semiconductors. Herein, a series of nitrogen-doped TiO2with anatase/brookite heterophase junctions (denoted as N(x)-A/B(y)) have been prepared by adding urea into a titanium tetraisopropoxide hydrothermal reaction solution and followed by annealing in air. It was found that TiO2with a pure anatase phase could be obtained from the titanium tetraisopropoxide reaction solution, and the addition of urea led to the formation of nitrogen-doped TiO2-containing anatase/brookite heterophase junctions. Characterization results suggested that the doped nitrogen shrunk the band gap of TiO2to improve light harvesting, while the anatase/brookite heterophase junction with well-matched band alignment effectively improved the charge separation. As a result, the obtained N(x)-A/B(y)catalysts exhibited excellent catalytic performance in the photocatalytic transfer hydrogenation (PCTH) of aromatic aldehydes with methanol as a hydrogen source. In particular, N(0.21)-A/B(16.1)allowed for almost quantitative hydrogenation of aromatic aldehydes to alcohols (yield of 82–98%), while pure anatase and brookite TiO2were far less efficient (less than 30%). Moreover, the N(x)-A/B(y)catalysts were highly stable and could be efficiently reused several times. This work presents the first example of engineering an anatase/brookite TiO2heterophase junction via nitrogen doping for efficient PCTH. The excellent catalytic performance, together with a safe operation process, makes such transfer hydrogenation highly promising for industrial applications.

Abstract

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner consists of five major components: The main magnet, a gradient system, an RF coil system, a receiver, and a computer system for data acquisition. Gradient coils are an integral part of an MRI system, used for spatially encoding the MRI signal via modulations on the main magnetic field. In this article, we discuss the in-house design and production method of a particular gradient coil aimed as a part of a portable MRI instrument with a 1 T high-temperature superconducting (HTS) main magnet. We aim to reveal a clear path for those who want to follow.
