A large amount of CO2 is emitted from power generation process of coal-fired power plants. Efficient capture and resource utilization of CO2 from flue gas is particularly important for carbon emission reduction. CO2 chemical absorption from post-combustion flue gas is the most mature separation method, and some CO2 capture projects have been successfully implemented, but there are still shortcomings of high cost and high energy consumption. The development of new efficient CO2 absorbents and process optimization have become the focus of current research. The connection of CO2 chemical absorption and catalytic synthesis of chemicals and fuels from CO2 hydrogenation in flue gas is an effective way to reduce carbon emission in coal-fired power plants. With the continuous deepening of CO2 catalytic conversion research, domestic and foreign researchers have made some progress in CO2 catalytic hydrogenation to chemicals. Firstly, the carbon capture mechanism and renewable energy consumption of monoamine absorbents were introduced, and the CO2 absorption performance, energy consumption reduction principle and carbon capture process of new absorbents (mixed amine solution, two-phase absorbent and functionalized ionic liquid) were further reviewed. The research status of CO2 desorption catalysts and process parameter optimization in reducing renewable energy consumption were summarized. Then, based on the different types of CO2 hydrogenation products (methanol, low carbon olefins and high carbon hydrocarbons), the research progress of CO2 catalytic hydrogenation catalysts was investigated. Finally, the development direction of CO2 capture by chemical absorption method after combustion and CO2 hydrogenation catalysts were prospected. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The heterogeneous catalysis of CO2 and H2 to CH3OH is a crucial technology for mitigating CO2 emissions and its promising application prospects have been driving extensive research. In this review, a wide variety of catalysts including copper, precious metal, typical metal oxides, and common metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are systematically summarized. The corresponding reaction mechanisms are described. The status and prospect of industrial development in this field are discussed. Although the industrial scale of copper-based catalysts has been realized, the single-pass conversion rate is low and they are easy to deactivate. Intensive work is devoted to solving these problems by developing new catalysts. The excellent stability of more than 3000 hours and excellent low-temperature performances make MoS2 a promising catalyst. Much understanding has been obtained in various catalysts, though the mechanisms are ambiguous and molecular insights are still desperately needed. The modified resin is used as a multifunctional biological carrier to treat phenolic wastewater (PW) in an anaerobic fluidized bed microbial fuel cell (AFB‐MFC). First, the modified resin was prepared, and the conductive polyaniline (PANI) was polymerized in situ on the surface and pores of the macroporous adsorption resin (MAR) to prepare the modified resin composite material (MAR/PANI). A series of modified resins with different mass ratios of resin and aniline were prepared. The modified resins were characterized by Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), specific surface area, and pore structure analysis. Materials Studio (MS) software was used to study the internal interaction forces of PANI and MAR, and the molecular dynamics simulation method was used to analyze and calculate the cohesive energy density. The simulation results are qualitatively consistent with the experimental data. The sorption module in the MS software was used to study the adsorption behaviour of the modified resin to the organic components in the wastewater, and the adsorption mechanism was explained on the atomic scale. When the modified resin with m (MAR):m(An) = 1:0.6 was used in the AFB‐MFC, the chemical oxygen demand removal efficiency of wastewater was increased by 26.2%–88.90%, the voltage was increased by 98.46%–489.2 mV, and power density was increased by 303.28%–131.43 ± 0.17 mW/m2. The development of new, efficient noble-metal-free photocatalysts is of great significance for the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction. Herein, Co9S8 with a hollow polyhedral structure was synthesized by in situ sulfurization of ZIF-67, and subsequently, Co9S8@Ni2P composite photocatalytic materials were prepared by loading Ni2P on the surface of Co9S8 through a solvothermal method based on a morphology regulation strategy. The design of the 3D@0D spatial structure of Co9S8@Ni2P is favorable for the formation of photocatalytic hydrogen evolution active sites. Due to the excellent metal conductivity of Ni2P, Ni2P as a cocatalyst can accelerate the separation of photogenerated electrons from holes in Co9S8, thus providing a large number of available photogenerated electrons for photocatalytic reactions. It is worth mentioning that a Co–P chemical bond is formed between Co9S8 and Ni2P, which plays an active role in the transport of photogenerated electrons. The densities of states of Co9S8 and Ni2P were determined by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The reduction of the hydrogen evolution overpotential and the formation of efficient charge-carrier transport channels on Co9S8@Ni2P were confirmed by a series of electrochemical and fluorescence tests.
