Abstract

Imaging the charge distributions and structures of molecules and clusters will promote the understanding of the dynamics of the quantum system. Here, we report a method by using an Ar atom as a tip to probe the charge distributions of benzene (Bz) cations in gas phase. Remarkably, the measured charge distributions of Bz cation (QH =0.204,QC=-0.037)and dication (QH =0.248,QC=0.0853)agree well with the calculated Mulliken distributions,and the structures of Bz dimer is reconstructed by using the measured charge distributions. The structures of two Bz dimer isomers (T-shaped and PD isomers) can be resolved from the measured inter-molecular potential V(R) between two Bz ions, and the structures of Bz dimer agree well with the theoretical predictions., Comment: 7 pages, 3 Figures

Abstract

Here we examined whether one’s perceptual style in viewing own- and other-race faces is associated with performance and bias in social categorization by race, and whether mask use modulates the perceptual style and social categorization effects. We found that Asian participants who adopted more eyes-focused eye movement patterns when viewing Asian faces had a larger bias to judge 50% Asian-Caucasian face morphs as Asian. However, although mask use made participants’ viewing pattern more eyes-focused, it did not change this bias in judging morphed faces, or other-race advantage in social categorization speed. These results suggest that information from the eye region may be sufficient to induce these social categorization effects, and that transient perceptual input change due to mask use does not modulate these social categorization effects. Thus, effects and biases in social categorization may be impervious to mask use. These findings have important implications for social interaction during the pandemic.

Abstract

In this paper, the effect of temperature on the extraction efficiency of oil and grease from anaerobically fermented kitchen waste was investigated through the analysis of pilot tests. Based on the results of multifactorial experiments, factors such as solid-liquid ratio and extraction time that affect oil and grease extraction were conditioned by combining the principle of response surface optimization experimental design. The optimal conditions for anaerobic fermentation for extracting kitchen waste oil and grease were obtained through response surface optimization experiments. Using the microwave-assisted solvent method, the effects of solvent type, extraction method, microwave power, temperature, time, and solid-liquid ratio on the oil and fat yield were investigated, and the experimental model was obtained by using the response surface. It was found that the extraction time (50 min), extraction temperature (110 ℃~130 ℃), and solid-liquid ratio (1:15 (mL/g)) had a greater effect on the oil yield. The experimental values basically coincided with the predicted values of the model, indicating that the model is real and reliable and can well predict the extraction efficiency of high-temperature anaerobic fermentation on kitchen waste oil and grease.

Abstract

Pathways of two-body fragmentation of BrCNq+ (q = 2, 3) have been explored by combined experimental and theoretical studies. In the experiment, the BrCN molecule is ionized by 1 keV electron impact and the created fragment ions are detected using an ion momentum imaging spectrometer. Six two-body fragmentation channels are identified. By measuring the momentum vectors of the fragment ions, the kinetic energy release (KER) distributions for these channels have been determined. Theoretically, the potential energy curves of BrCNq+ (q = 2, 3) as a function of Br–C and C–N internuclear distances are calculated by the complete active space self-consistent field method. By comparing the measured KER and theoretical predictions, pathways for the fragmentation channels are assigned. The relative branching ratios of the channels are also determined.
