31. Characteristics and Sensitivity Analysis of Ozone Pollution in a Typical Inland City in China.

Abstract

In this research, long-term monitoring data from 2020 to 2023 were used to characterize O3 pollution in a typical inland city in northwest China (34°21′ N 109°30′ E), which indicated that ozone pollution yielded typical regular fluctuations and high ozone concentrations from April to September were observed. Ozone varied in the range of 16–176 μg/m3, and maximum peaks were found usually at 14:00–17:00 in June and July. Correlation analysis showed a significant positive relationship between ozone and temperature, with correlation coefficients of 0.93. The wind speed exhibits a similar variation as ozone. Meanwhile, negative correlations were not so notably observed among ozone, humidity, VOCs, and NOx. Finally, the empirical kinetic model OZIPR (Ozone Isopleth Plotting Program for Research) was employed to analyze the sensitivity relationship among ozone and precursor compounds by calculating EMKA (Empirical Kinetics Modeling Approach) curves. The EKMA analysis results showed that during the whole ozone pollution period, ozone formation is mainly dominated by VOCs due to all the ratios of VOCs/NOx which fell in the VOCs control region. Abstract

Let H and M be two connected subgraphs of an interconnection network G. If the removal of any minimum H-structure-cut (respectively, minimum H-substructure-cut) splits G into exactly two components, one of which is isomorphic to M, then G is said to be hyper H | M -connected (respectively, hyper sub- H | M -connected). The hierarchical star network H S n is one of alternative interconnection networks for multiprocessor systems. Let n ≥ 4 , 1 ≤ t ≤ n − 2 and 2 ≤ r ≤ n − 2. In this paper, we prove that (i) both the K 1 , 1 -structure connectivity and the sub- K 1 , 1 -structure connectivity of H S n are n; and (ii) both the K 1 , r -structure connectivity and the sub- K 1 , r -structure connectivity of H S n are n − 1 ; and (iii) H S n is hyper K 1 , t | K 1 -connected and hyper sub- K 1 , t | K 1 -connected, where K 1 is the complete graph with one vertex and K 1 , t is a star with 1 + t vertices. Abstract

Given a connected subgraph H of an interconnection network G , the H -structure connectivity κ (G ; H) and the H -substructure connectivity κ s (G ; H) of G are two important measurements for fault tolerance of G. The n -dimensional star graph S n is an attractive interconnection network candidate for multiprocessor systems, and it is (n − 1) -regular. Let n ≥ 4 and 0 ≤ r ≤ n − 1. In this paper, we prove that (i) κ (S n ; K 1 , r) = κ s (S n ; K 1 , r) = n − 1 , and (i i) the removal of any minimum K 1 , r -cut (or, minimum sub- K 1 , r -cut) will split S n into exactly two components, one of which is a singleton, where K 1 , r is a tree on 1 + r vertices, r of which are leaves. 37. Induction of p27 contributes to inhibitory effect of isorhapontigenin (ISO) on malignant transformation of human urothelial cells

Abstract

Bladder cancer (BC) is the most expensive cancer to manage on a per-patient basis, costing about $4 billion in total healthcare expenditure per annum in America alone. Therefore, identifying a natural compound for prevention of BC is of tremendous importance for managing this disease. Previous studies have identified isorhapontigenin (ISO) as having an 85% preventive effect against invasive BC formation induced by N-butyl-N-(4-hydroxybutyl) nitrosamine (BBN). The results showed here that ISO treatment inhibited EGF-induced cell transformation of human urothelial cells through induction of tumor suppressor p27 transcription secondary to activation of an E2F1-dependentpathway.ISOtreatmentrenderedcellsresistanttoEGF-induced anchorage-independent growth concurrent with p27 protein induction in both UROtsa and SV-HUC-1 cells. ISO inhibition of EGF-induced cell transformation could be completely reversed by knockdown of p27, indicating that this protein was essential for the noted ISO inhibitory action. Mechanistic studies revealed that ISO treatment resulted in increased expression of E2F1, which in turn bound to its binding site in p27 promoter and initiated p27 transcription. The E2F1 induction was due to the elevation of its translation caused by ISO-induced miR-205 downregulation. Consistently, miR-205 was found to be overexpressed in human BCs, and ectopic expression of miR-205 mitigated ISO inhibitory effects against EGF-induced outcomes. Collectively, the results here demonstrate that ISO exhibits its preventive effect on EGF-induced human urothelial cell transformation by induction of p27 through a miR-205/E2F1 axis. This is distinct from what has been described for the therapeutic effects of ISO on human BC cells.
