Background: Immunosuppressive agents, although indispensable in the treatment of chronic kidney diseases (CKD), could compromise the patient's immune function. The risk factor for in-hospital mortality in immunocompromised CKD patients with severe infections remain elusive. Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of the clinical data of CKD patients who received immunosuppressive agents and presented severe infections. The cohort comprised 272 patients, among whom 73 experienced mortalities during their hospitalization. Logistic regression was employed on the training set to identify key feature variables and construct a predictive model for in-hospital mortality among immunocompromised CKD patients following severe infections. To facilitate clinical application, we constructed a nomogram to visually represent the predictive model. Results: Our findings indicate that ventilator use, vasoactive drug administration, elevated lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), total bilirubin (TBIL) levels, and persistent lymphopenia(PL) are effective predictors of in-hospital mortality in immunocompromised patients with severe infections. These variables were subsequently incorporated to construct a robust prognostic model. Our model demonstrated excellent discriminative ability (AUC = 0.959, 95% CI, 0.924–0.994), significantly outperforming the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score (AUC = 0.878, 95% CI, 0.825–0.930) and quick Pitt Bacteremia Score (qPBS) (AUC = 0.897, 95% CI, 0.846–0.947). Calibration curve analysis and the Hosmer-Lemeshow (HL) test corroborate the concordance of our model with empirical observations. Furthermore, decision curve analysis (DCA) underscores the superior clinical utility of our predictive model when compared to the SOFA score and qPBS score. Most importantly, our results showed that PL is the most important predictor of in-hospital mortality in immunocompromised patients following severe infection. Conclusion: Our findings highlight PL as the most significant predictor of in-hospital mortality in immunocompromised CKD patients. Rapid determination of the dissolution behavior of a compound fertilizer is difficult in agricultural industry. In this work, we describe a simple and rapid method for quantifying the disintegration properties of compound fertilizer for the indirect evaluation of their dissolution. The effects of screen mesh, disintegration time, temperature, fertilizer-water ratio, stacking mode and particle size on fertilizer disintegration test were studied. Under standardized conditions, the maximum and minimum relative standard deviation (RSD) were 12.7% and 0.9%, respectively. The mean deviations of the measured data were > 4%, standard deviations > 4.6%, and interquartile ranges > 6.7%. The feasibility, accuracy, error tolerance, and consistency of this lift disintegration method meet industrial requirements and can be utilized for the rapid determination of the solubility of compound fertilizers. Background: The BCL2 interacting protein 3-like (BNIP3L) protein is involved in multiple myeloma (MM) development and progression. This study aims to explore the connection between BNIP3L single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and MM. Methods: SNaPshot was used to examine six SNP loci of the BNIP3L gene in enrolled subjects. The relationship between these loci and MM susceptibility and prognosis was explored. Survival analysis was used to evaluate the impact of different factors on patient survival. Results: The rs2874670 AA genotype and A allele were associated with increased MM risk (P < 0.05). The CCACAC haplotype had a higher frequency in MM, while CCGCAC had a higher frequency in normal patients (all P < 0.05). Patients with R-ISS stage I and II had higher survival rates than those with stage III (P < 0.05). Patients, who received chemotherapy followed by autologous stem cell transplantation, had longer survival time than those who only received chemotherapy (P < 0.05). Low levels of LDH and β2-MG were associated with better survival rates (P < 0.05). Cox regression identified that LDH levels, β2-MG levels, and R-ISS staging were the risk factors for the death of MM. Mann-Whitney U test found a significant difference in survival time between MM patients with different BNIP3L rs2874670 genotypes after BD chemotherapy (P < 0.05). Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first study to find that BNIP3L rs2874670 could increase MM susceptibility in China. Objective The upregulation of 5-amino-4-imidazolecarboxamide ribonucleotide transformylase/IMP cyclohydrolase (ATIC) may affect tumorigenesis and multiple myeloma (MM) development. Materials and Methods A total of 97 patients with MM and 102 healthy control patients were included in the study. The SNaPshot technique was used to detect the ATIC gene polymorphisms. Linkage disequilibrium (LD) and haplotype analyses were conducted using SHEsis software. Results The genotype distribution or allele frequency of rs3772078 and rs16853834 was significantly different between the patients with MM and the healthy control patients (all P  <.05). The rs16853834 A allele, rs3772078 CT genotype, and C allele were associated with a decreased risk of MM (all P  <.05). Five single-nucleotide polymorphism combinations showed strong LD. Three haplotypes were associated with MM risk (all P  <.05). We found that ATIC rs7604984 was significantly associated with serum lactate dehydrogenase levels (P  = .050). Conclusion We determined that the rs3772078 and rs16853834 polymorphisms are associated with a decreased risk of MM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
