Sericosura duanqiaoensis sp. nov. (Fig. 1, 2) Material examined. Male (34IV-TVG0802), Station 34IV-SWIR-S035-TVG08, SWIR, 37.66��S 50.47��E, TV- Grab, 1732 m depth, 13 Apr 2015. Diagnosis. Cephalon extending forward as a hood. Legs of male dimorphic, third and fourth pairs of legs with inflated propodi; first and second pairs of male legs with slender propodi. Description. Male holotype. Trunk fully segmented, with smooth dorsal ridges, glabrous except for few setae on distal margin of lateral processes, separated by about 0.2���0.3 diameter of lateral processes. Cephalon smooth, triangular, extending forward as a hood. Ocular tubercle low, eyes unpigmented, with few papillae on top. Abdomen long, horizontal, articulated at base, reaching further than distal margin of first coxae, slightly inflated distally, with two rows of setae. Proboscis long, bending down, fusiform, shorter than the trunk. Chelifore inside the cephalic hood, almost invisible from dorsal view, one-segmented scape, armed with few setae, chela atrophied, globular. Palp seven-segmented (Fig. 1-C; Fig. 2-E, F), covered by thick sulfide. P1 short, wide; P2 shorter than P4, with few dorsal setae; P4 longest with dorsal and ventral setae, with ventral tube on low proximal protuberance (at 1/3 length); terminal articles armed with short thick setae, P7 longer than P5, P6 shortest. Oviger 10-segmented (Fig. 1-F), O3, O4 and O5 with ectal row of short setae; O6 densely setose; O7 with fewer long setae; O8 with few long setae dorsally; O10 small, less than half length of O9, glabrous; terminal three oviger articles with denticulate spines, formula 2:1:2, spines on O10 very close together. Legs dimorphic (Fig. 1-H, I; Fig. 2-C, D), posterior four differing from anterior four legs. Major leg articles with ventral, lateral and dorsal rows of setae. Coxa 2 longer than coxa 1 or 3, with ventral and dorsal protuberances on the two posterior pairs of legs. Femora similar in length and spination, cement gland dorsoproximal, small raised bulge opening anteriorly as short, conical tube. First tibiae robust, subequal in length to femur, with two dorsal setae longer than article diameter. Tibiae 2 dimorphic, slender and longest article in anterior four legs, robust, shorter than tibiae 1 in posterior four legs. Tarsus small, subtriangular, with dorsal and ventral setae, ventral setae as long as article diameter. Propodi of posterior four legs clearly inflated, with scattered short lateral setae, long setae dorsally, distal margin armed with cluster of setae and spines dorsally and ventrally; eleven sole spines. Main claw strong, near 0.6 propodal length, sharply curved; auxiliaries slender, about 2/5 main claw length. Propodi of anterior four legs slender, slightly curved cylinder without heel, with dense sole spines of varied length, and dense cluster of dorsodistal setae. Main claw gently curved, half length of propodus; auxiliaries strong, half main claw length. The female and juvenile unknown. Measurements of holotype in mm: Trunk length from chelifore insertion to tip of 4th lateral processes, 3.25; trunk width across 2nd lateral processes, 2.23; proboscis length, 2.94; abdomen length, 1.12. From the Chinese ���Duan Qiao���, meaning Broken Bridge, referring to the hydrothermal vent field from which the new species was collected. Remarks. The most striking features of the new species were the posterior pairs of legs with expanded propodi; only Sericosura heteroscela Child & Segonzac 1996 from the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and Sericosura dimorpha Arango & Linse 2015 from the Scotia Ridge were hitherto known to have similar characters. Arango and Linse (2015) had discussed the differences between the species with dimorphic propodi. The evident differences found in S. dimorpha compared to the new species are the undiscovered femoral cement gland, simple oviger spines, longer main claw and ridged trunk. Sericosura bamberi ? Arango & Linse, 2015 (Fig. 3) Sericosura bamberi. Arango and Linse, 2015, pp. 39���42, Figs. 2���3. Material examined: juvenile (34IV-TVG0801), Station 34IV-SWIR-S035-TVG08, SWIR, 37.66��S 50.47��E, TV- Grab, 1732 m depth, 13 Apr 2015. Distribution. The type material for this species was collected from hydrothermal vents in the East Scotia Ridge, Southern Ocean, at 1399���1462 m depth. This locality is thousands of kilometers away from the location where this juvenile specimen was obtained. Remarks. It is difficult to determine species identity of juvenile stages in this genus (as in general in pycnogonids), especially as most of the species descriptions lack the description of the juvenile. However, the characters of this specimen agreed mostly with those of S. bamberi. Apart from the weak chelae with smooth fingers and not fully developed ovigers, the juvenile is tentatively assigned to S. bamberi based on the sevensegmented palps, bent bulky proboscis, funnel-shaped cephalon and an overall setose appearance (Arango and Linse 2015) (Fig. 2). The morphological differences between the juvenile and the type specimen of S. bamberi were the height of ocular tubercle and length ratio of palp articles (Fig. 2-C, E, F). The ocular tubercle was not visible from dorsal view, and is lower than that of the type specimen. The length ratio of seventh palp article and fifth is nearly 3/5. Sericosura cyrtoma Child & Segonzac, 1996, S. dimorpha and S. curva Arango & Linse, 2015 had seven palp articles with the fifth being the longers, but the juvenile was easily distinguished from these species by the bent bulky proboscis. Sericosura heteroscela ? Material examined: juvenile (34IV-TVG0803), Station 34IV-SWIR-S035-TVG08, SWIR, 37.66��S 50.47��E, TV- Grab, 1732 m depth, 13 Apr 2015. Distribution. Sericosura heteroscela is known from the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, including Menez Gwen, Lucky Strike, Rainbow, Snake Pit and Logatchev, at depths from 850 m to 3500 m. If this juvenile was indeed S. heteroscela, the distribution of this species would be extended to the southern hemisphere, thousands kilometers from its type locality. Remarks. Though the juvenile specimen showed many characters consistent with female of S. heteroscela, we identified the juvenile as this species hesitantly due to a few words on describing juvenile by Child and Segonzac (1996) and the new species, S. duanqiaoensis, was very similar to S. heteroscela. According to the gracile anteriorleaning ocular tubercle with bifurcate top and compact legs, we provisionally assigned this juvenile to S. heteroscela with expectation of more specimens obtained from same hydrothermal field in the future. Child and Segonzac (1996) described the differences between the adult and juvenile male, and this juvenile, with simple and weak ovigers, we thought were female on the basis of the same legs, short second coxae and setae arrangement on coxa. The chelate located in the ���hole��� which was expansion of cephalon, and fingers were slender, smooth, very curve and overlapping when closed (Fig. 4-C, D). Sericosura dentatus sp. nov. (Figs 2–3) Material examined: male holotype (TVG0904), one female paratype (TVG0903), DY 115 - 21 III Station 9, EPR, “Precious Stone Mountain” hydrothermal vent field, 1.22 °N 101.49 °W, 1628 m depth, TVG, 2 nd November 2009. Description of the holotype (male): Leg span 27.6 mm. Trunk (Fig. 2 A, B) dorsal segmentation lines raised, swollen, without dorsomedian tubercles. Lateral processes separated by 0.5–1 times their diameters, with few distal short spines. Oviger bases massive, placed just anterior to first lateral processes. Neck with broad anterolateral expansion, elevated dorsally in lateral view. Ocular tubercle a anterior-leaning tube, blind, with bifurcate tip. Proboscis inflated, without constrictions, 0.7 times as long as trunk. Abdomen downcurved, extending to midpart of second coxae of fourth leg pair, with a pair of short dorsal spines and distal short setae. Chelifores short, scape one-articled, only about twice as long as wide, with distal spines. Chelae atrophied to knobs. Palps (Fig. 2 C) nine-articled. First article broad, without spines or setae. Second article longest, with one long dorsal seta and shorter lateral setae. Third article compact, about as long as first article, with long dorsal setae. Fourth article slightly shorter than first article, with more long setae. Distal five articles short, of decreasing diameters and length, with dense long ventral setae. Ovigers (Fig. 2 D) first to fifth articles with short setae, fifth article with a long dorsal seta. Sixth article ovoid, with dense long dorsal setae and short ventral spines. Seventh and eighth articles with long dorsal setae. Distal four articles with small denticulate spines in formula 2: 2: 1: 2. Right oviger bearing one egg ball. Third leg (Fig. 2 G to I) first coxa with ring of short distal setae. Second coxa longer than first or third coae, with two dorsal setae and cluster of few ventral distal setae. Third coxa distally swollen, densely setose. Femur with dorsal and ventral short setae, and with dense ring of longer distal setae. Cement gland (Fig. 4 I) dorsal at centre of femur, basally wide, attenuated. First tibia distally swollen, with dorsal, lateral and ventral setae, and one dorsal seta longer than article diameter. Second tibia slender, with dense dorsal, lateral and ventral long setae, and three dorsal setae longer than article diameter, and with 5–6 ventrodistal spines shorter than article diameter. Tarsus small, subtriangular, with one long dorsal seta, 1–2 short setae and 4–6 longer ventral spines. Propodus without marked heel, with dense sole spines of varied length, and short dorsal setae but with three longer than article diameter, and dense cluster of long dorsodistal setae. Auxiliary claws about 0.6 times as long as main claw. Distinctions of female (Fig. 3): size slightly larger than male, cement-gland and tube absent, sexuallydimorphic ovigers: ovigers of female almost without setae, and distal four articles with denticulate spines in formula 2: 2: 1: 4. Etymology. From Latin dentatus, meaning toothed, referring to the species having more finely-denticulate spines on the oviger strigilis than in any other species. Remarks. There are now five described species of Sericosura with nine-articled palps, including S. verenae (Child, 1987), S. cochleifovea, S. dissita and S. conta Bamber, 2009, as well as S. dentatus sp. nov.. The distinct difference between S. dentatus and these other species is the number of denticulate spines on the distal oviger articles. In addition, the proboscis of S. verenae is larger with submedian and subdistal constrictions, and the legs of the female have denser setae. Bamber (2009) has already discussed differences between S. conta and the other three nine-articled species of Sericosura, and those differences also apply to S. dentatus, including more- compact lateral processes, longer auxiliary claws and stouter chelifore scapes. S. dentatus is very similar to S. dissita and S. cochleifovea ignoring the differences in leg spans. Nevertheless, the location of the femoral cement-gland tube in the males is the significant difference between S. dentatus and S. cochleifovea. From Bamber (2009) this species would key out to Sericosura dissita (of which only the male is known), particularly as the mid-dorsal location of the femoral cement-gland tube in the males of S. dentatus is peculiar in the genus, but similar to that found in S. dissita. A mid-dorsal cement-gland tube is not typical of Sericosura, but the present species increases further the variability of this feature. S. dentatus is distinguished from S. dissita in having denser spination of all leg and oviger articles, no suggestion of secondary articulation of the fourth palp article and a more compact chelifore scape, as well as having denticulate spines on the seventh oviger article (naked in S. dissita). Sericosura dissita is known only from the type collection, from much further north on the Endeavour Segment of the Juan de Fuca Ridge. There are some differences between the descriptions and the figures of the male (Fig. 2) with regard to the cement gland on the right first leg and one auxiliary claw, as a result of damage to the specimen. The body-surface of the specimens is lightly covered with a yellow substance (possibly sulfides), and some white flocculent material is present between the appendages and the trunk (Fig. 2 A), also between the main claw and the auxiliary claws (Fig. 3 B), possibly filamentous bacteria. The sample site was very close to a hydrothermal vent with smoke issuing.

Sericosura gemmaemonsis sp. nov. (Fig. 1) Material examined. one female, holotype (TVG0901), two females, paratypes (TVG0902, TVG0905), DY 115 - 21 III Station 9, EPR, ���Precious Stone Mountain��� hydrothermal vent-field, 1.22 ��N 101.49 ��W, 1628 m depth, TVG, 2 nd November 2009. Description of the holotype (female): Size large for the genus, leg span 43.1 mm. Trunk (Fig. 1 A, B) glabrous, dorsal segmentation lines raised, swollen, without dorsomedian tubercles. Lateral processes closelyspaced, separated by 0.25���0.3 times their diameters, with few short distal spines. Cephalon flaring from narrow neck to broad anterior. Ocular tubercle leaning towards anterior, with bifurcate tip, without eyes. Proboscis fusiform, longer than trunk, without constrictions. Abdomen downcurved, extending to midpart of second coxae of fourth pair of legs, with five or six pairs of short dorsal spines. Chelifores short, scape one-articled, about twice as long as wide, with five or six distal spines, two dorsodistal spines almost as long as scape diameter. Chelae atrophied to knobs, fingers reduced to tiny bumps. Palps (Fig. 1 D) seven-articled. First article broad, a truncate cone. Second article longest, slightly longer than fourth, with dorsal and lateral short setae. Third article short with numerous shorter setae and one longer than article diameter. Fourth article with row of erect long setae, three clearly longer than article diameter. Distal three articles very short, seventh longest, of decreasing diameters, with dorsal and distal long setae. Ovigers (Fig. 1 C) with few spines and setae. Second article longest, fourth article slightly longer than fifth, and with short lateral setae. Sixth article with short ventral setae. Seventh and eighth articles with dorsal setae longer than article diameters. Seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth with small denticulate spines in formula 2: 2: 1: 2. Third leg (Fig. 1 G to H) first coxa with short distal setae. Second coxa distally swollen, longer than first or third coxae, mid-dorsally raised with two longer setae, ventrally with shorter distal setae. Third coxa dorsally with two raised eminences bearing short setae. Femur with row of dorsal and lateral longer setae, and with distal ring of shorter setae, one almost as long as article diameter. Tibiae with dorsal, lateral and ventral setae mostly shorter than article diameters, but some longer than article diameters. Tarsus nearly triangular, with one dorsal spine and 6���8 ventral spines, of length increasing distally. Propodus cylindrical, without heel, with row of short sole spines, 5���6 dorsal and distal setae longer than article diameter. Main claw slender, curved, with two auxiliary claws little more than half main claw length. Male and juvenile are unknown. From the Latin gemma mons, meaning Precious Stone Mountain, referring to the new hydrothermal vent field. Remarks. All the specimens of Sericosura gemmaemonsis sp. nov. collected are females, so we cannot confirm the position of the cement gland tube. However, they are consistent with the genus on other morphological features, such as having the trunk fully-segmented, with transverse ridges, the abdomen articulating, and the cephalon flaring anteriorly; the lateral processes are closely-spaced; the proboscis is large and ovoid; the ocular tubercle has a bifurcate tip; the palps have seven articles, and the ovigers ten articles of which the distal four articles have very small denticulate spines. Five of the species of Sericosura described previously have seven-articled palps, viz S. venticola, S. cyrtoma, S. hedgpethi Bamber, 2009, S. heteroscela Child & Segonzac, 1996 and S. mitrata (Gordon, 1944). S. gemmaemonsis is very similar to the female of the Atlantic species S. heteroscela, although with a much greater leg span. The femur and tibia 2 of S. gemmaemonsis are proportionately more slender and longer, and tibia 2 is the longest article of the leg. In the female of S. heteroscela, the legs are compact, and femur is the longest article. S. gemmaemonsis is also distinct in having two short setae on top of two separate lateral swellings dorsally on the third coxae. From Bamber (2009) this species would key out to S. cyrtoma, but that species has stouter thorn-like spines on the leg articles and a tapering proboscis, unlike the present species. There are some differences between the descriptions and the leg of the female (Fig. 1 E, G) with regard to two longer setae on the mid-dorsally raised of second coxa, as a result of damage to the specimen. There are some white flocculent material packing on the terminal article of palp (Fig. 1 D), and few attached on the setae. They are maybe filamentous bacteria. The specimens from station 21 -S 13 -TVG 9 were taken from the top of a hydrothermal vent, and the television monitor showed smoke issuing from the vent. We could infer from this Sericosura gemmaemonsis may live in the area close to the issuing hydrothermal fluid. Munida manqingae sp. nov. Material examined. HOLOTYPE: ♀ (CL 6.9 mm) ovigerous, Southwest Indian Ridge, hydrothermal vent field, 36.1010��S 53.2552��W, 2218 m, TVG17, 16 February 2009. Description. Carapace (excluding rostrum) 1.2 times longer than broad, with gastric region anteriorly elevated and hepatic region depressed. Few secondary striae between main transverse ridges. Ridges sparsely provided with short non-iridescent setae, some ridges uninterrupted as illustrated. Branchial margins with 5 small spines. Gastric region with 3 pairs of epigastric spines, second spine largest; other dorsal regions without spines. Anterior branchial regions nearly smooth. Frontal margins feebly oblique. Lateral margins slightly convex. Anterolateral spine relatively short. Hepatic margins strongly convex, each with spine smaller than anterolateral spine. Rostrum spiniform, about 0.4 of remaining carapace length, straight and horizontal. Supraocular spines barely reaching midlength of rostrum, distinctly overreaching ocular peduncles, parallel with rostrum, directed upwards (Fig. 1A). Surfaces of thoracic sternites smooth, without setae. Anterior margin of fourth sternite clearly narrower than third sternite. Third thoracic sternite about 6.5 times wider than long (Fig. 1B). Abdominal somites unarmed. Second abdominal somite slightly narrower than third somite, with 2 elevated transverse ridges on tergum; third to fifth somites without ridges (Fig. 1A). Sixth abdominal with deep triangular depression. Telson 1.3 times as broad as long; median suture clearly delimited (Fig. 1G). Eyes small; corneas not dilated, width narrower than basal width of ocular peduncle and distance between sinus formed by supraocular and rostral spines, 0.15 of carapace length. Basal segment of antennule (distal spines excluded) about 0.15 length of carapace, nearly reaching half of rostrum, distinctly overreaching distal margins of corneas, with 2 distal spines, mesial spine clearly shorter than lateral; 3 spines on lateral margin, proximal spine very short, median spine located at mid-length of proximal and distal spines, distal spine 4 times length of median spine and overreaching distolateral spine (Fig. 1C). First segment of antennal peduncle with moderately long distomesial spine nearly reaching distal margin of second segment; second segment with 2 distal spines, mesial spine nearly 2 times longer than lateral spine and reaching end of third segment; third and fourth segments unarmed (Fig. 1D). Third maxilliped with setae mostly on flexor margin of the articles. Ischium about 2 times length of merus measured along extensor margin, with mesioflexor margin denticulate. Merus with 2 well-developed spines on flexor margin, distal spine slightly smaller than proximal spine arising at about midlength; extensor margin minutely dentiticulate but without distinct spines (Fig. 1E). Second maxilliped with exopod, distinctly longer than endopod; articles of endopod and exopod covered with simple and plumose setae (Fig. 1F). Chelipeds (P1) subequal in length, slightly squamous, about 2.6 times as long as carapace(Fig. 1H, I). Merus with 6 small spines on dorsal surface laterally and 2 spines mesially (second spine stronger than spine at distomesial angle); lateral face with spinulose tubercles ventrally and with 1 strong spine on ventrodistal angle; ventromesial margin with 2 (right) or 3 (left) strong spines; ventral surface smooth; mesial face with short setae (Fig. 2E���H). Carpus twice as long as wide; dorsal surface with 3 small spines along midline; dorsolmesial margin with 2 spines (distal spine stronger); ventromesial margin with 1 prominent spine; mesial face with short setae and 1 spin located at about mid-length; ventral face smooth and with 1 spin at ventral angle. Palm about 3 times longer than wide; dorsal surface with row of 3 very small spines along midline; lateral face with 3 spines and short setae; dorsolmesial margin with 5 spines increasing in size distally; ventromesial margin with 3 spines; ventral surface smooth without setae. Dactylus as long as palm; fingers unarmed, except terminal spines, distally curving, ending in sharp claw; lateral margin with short setae (Fig. 2J). Second to fourth pereopods (P2���4) moderately long and slender, decreasing in length posteriorly. P2 about 2 times length of carapace; merus about 0.9 times as long as carapace, dorsal margin with row of 7 spines and 1 spinule increasing in size distally, ventral margin with 5 spines and 3 spinule, spine at ventrodistal angle largest, ventral surface smooth, with few long setae (Fig. 2I); carpus with 2 strong distal extensor spines and 1 prominent distal flexor spine, lateral surface nearly smooth; propodus flexor margin with row of 5 moveable spines, with extensor margin unarmed, ventral surface with scattered tiny granules and with 1 spine on ventrodistal angle; dactylus about 0.5 times as long as propodus, slightly curved distally, with 10 movable spines on flexor margin (Fig. 2A, I). P3 about 1.9 times length of carapace; merus about about 0.9 length of that of second pereopod, with 6 spines on dorsal margin increasing in size distally and 4 spines on ventral margin; carpus with 1 strong extensor spines in addition to 1 extensor distal spine and 1 small flexor distal spin; propodus with 5 moveable spines on flexor margin; dactylus with 8 moveable spines on flexor margin (Fig. 2B). P4 about 1.7 times length of carapace; merus about 0.7 length of that of second pereopod, with 1 prominent extensor distal spine and 3 spinules on ventral margin; carpus with extensor distal and flexor distal spines much smaller than those of preceding pereopods; propodus with 5 moveable spines on flexor margin; dactylus with 8 moveable spinules on flexor margin (Fig. 2C). P5 as long as carapace, carpus, slightly longer than propodus, all segments unarmed, dense setae present on entire dactylus (Fig. 2D). Twenty-four eggs preserved under abdomen, rotund or oval, measuring 0.8���1.0 mm in diameter. Coloration. Anterior part of carapace (including hepatic, gastric, cardiac and anterior branchial region), ocular peduncles, antennal peduncles and antennule peduncles deep pink, posterior part of carapace (including posterior branchial region and intestinal region), abdomen pink. P1���5 and telson light pink. Etymology. The species is dedicated to the newborn niece of the first author. Remarks. Munida manqingae sp. nov. belongs to the group of deep-sea species in having five spines on the branchial margins of the carapace, smooth thoracic sternites, and small eyes. This informal group includes M. clevai Macpherson 2009, M. endeavourae Ahyong & Poore, 2004, M. parvioculata Baba, 1982, and M. tiresias Macpherson, 1994. The new species appears closest to M. tiresias in the anterolateral and hepatic marginal spine being small and not well developed and the absence of spines on the anterior transverse ridge of the second abdominal somite. Munida clevai, M. endeavourae, and M. parvioculata have at least two distinct spines on the second abdominel somite. However, M. manqingae sp. nov. is distinguished from M. tiresias by the following features: 1) the transverse ridges on the posterior parts of the branchial and cardiac regions of the carapace are uninterrupted; 2) three spines are present on the lateral margin of the basal antennular segment (only two lateral spines in M. tiresias); 3) the distal spine on the lateral margin of the basal antennular segment overreaches the end of the distolateral spine (it does not reach the tip of the distolateral spine in in M. tiresias); 4) the distomesial spine of the first antennal segment nearly reaches the end of the second segment (this spine falls far short of the distal margin of the second segment in M. tiresias). The new species is also similar to M. magniantennulata Baba & T��rkay, 1992, but there are some distinctions between the two species. The frontal margin of the carapace of M. manqingae is more strongly oblique than in M. magniantennulata and the anterolateral spine of the carapace is much shorter in the new species. The supraocular spines clearly overreach the distal margins of the cornea in the new species, but they do not reach those margins in M. magniantennulata. The antennular basal segment of the new species reaches only to half the length of the rostrum, instead of clearly overreaching it in M. magniantennulata.
