EP300-interacting inhibitor of differentiation 3 (EID3) is a member of the IED family and has been associated with tumorigenesis and tumor development in different cancer types. However, the role of EID3 in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) prognosis is not clear. Whole transcriptome sequencing data of 249 and 149 GBM patients were collected from the Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database respectively. The correlation between EID3 expression and overall survival (OS)/clinical pathologic features of GBM patients was investigated. Based on the Wilcoxon rank-sum test, EID3 expression in GBM tissues was significantly lower than in normal brain tissues (P < 0.001), and significantly higher than in LGG (low-grade glioma) (P < 0.001).There was a significant correlation between high EID3 expression with poor OS in CGGA (P = 0.049) and TCGA data (P = 0.024). Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) data analysis revealed a significant difference (FDR < 0.25, NOM p-value < 0.05) in the enrichment of MSigDB Collection (h.all.v6.2.symbols.gmt). A total of eight enriched pathways were identified in the high EID3 expression group, including Myc Targets V1, Kras signaling DN, and DNA repair pathways. Multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated that high expression of EID3 correlated with poor OS (P = 0.032, HR = 1.41, CI: 1.03-1.90). We conclude that EID3 could serve as an independent factor for predicting the prognosis of patients with GBM. Moreover, it is associated with GBM development through the regulation of the Myc Targets, Kras signaling DN, and DNA repair pathways.

To explore the surgical methods and clinical effect of endoscopic endonasal approaches for the treatment of invasive pituitary adenomas (IPAs).A retrospective analysis was made of the clinical data of 74 patients (75 procedures) with IPAs treated by different endoscopic endonasal approaches at the Department of Neurosurgery, The First Affiliated Hospital of Shenzhen University from May 2014 to August 2017. The data include clinical manifestation, imaging features, surgical methods and complications, resection rate, cure rate, prognosis, and complications in different Knosp classifications and Hardy stages. The transcavernous approach was used in 47 patients, the lateral-cavernous approach was used in 14 patients, the tuberculum sella planum approach was used in 8 patients, and the diaphragma sellae open or dorsum sellae cut approach was used in 6 patients.The gross total resection (GTR) rate was 70.7% (53 patients) and tumor residue rate was 29.3% (22 patients). GTR rate for pituitary adenoma according to Knosp classification was 89.3% in grade 3 and 28.6% in grade 4. The biology cure rate was 75.0% and 23.8%, respectively. There was significance between them (P 0.05). In addition, the GTR rate of Hardy stage was 90.5% in stage C, 90.0% in stage D, 26.1% in stage E, and the biology cure rate was 80.1%, 75.0%, and 13.0%, respectively. There was significance among them (P 0.05) Postoperative severe complications included 9 patients (12.0%) with cerebrospinal fluid leaks, 26 patients (34.7%)with electrolyte imbalance, 36 patients (48.0%) with transient diabetes insipidus, 22 patients (29.3%) with hypopituitarism, 2 patients (2.7%) with permanent hypopituitarism, and 2 patients (2.7%)with epistaxis. The follow-up lasted 2-41 months (average, 19.3 months). No patient experienced recurrence after GTR, 1 patient undergoing subtotal experienced recurrence and underwent reoperation, 3 patients underwent postoperative Gamma Knife treatment, and 2 patients with refractory IPA were given temozolomide and metformin chemotherapy.According to the invasiveness of IPA, choosing the appropriate endoscopic surgical approach is helpful in removing tumors and reducing complications.

In recent years, clean energy installed capacity has a rapid increase in China. Large bases of clean energy mostly locate in the north and southwest regions, and load centers are reversely located. This kind of situation leads to increasingly prominent consumption problems of clean energy. As a result, the requirement to enhance clean energy long-range, large-scale deployment capacity through UHV power grid is becoming stronger. The current cross-provincial and cross-regional tie-line plan is based on medium and long-term electricity transactions which don't reflect the fluctuation characteristic of clean energy. On the other hand, the external transmission of thermal power has a large proportion in these transactions, and it affects the overall energy consumption capacity in large power grid. In view of above problems, this paper proposed a multi-period joint scheduling model with the goal of maximizing renewable energy consumption; this model can improve clean energy cross-provincial and cross-regional delivery proportion from the aspects of month, day-ahead, and intra-day. Firstly, this paper analyzed the essence of the problem of abandoning solar, wind and water power, and figured out feasible solutions including tie line optimization and cross-regional spare sharing etc. Secondly, this paper designed a multi-period cross-regional joint scheduling method. In the long-term level, surplus clean energy should be organized to enter into the medium and long-term transactions to raise the proportion of clean energy in the external transmission; in the short term, the additional renewable energy can be traded again in cross-regional spot market. At the end of this paper, the validity of the proposed method is verified by practical examples.

BACKGROUND To compare the clinical outcomes and complications of 247 pituitary tumor patients managed by endoscopic and microscopic approaches in our hospital. METHODS The authors performed a retrospective review of 100 pituitary tumor patients treated by endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal surgery (ETS) and 147 patients treated by microscopic transsphenoidal surgery (MTS) at our center from January 2007 to July 2014. The tumors were stratified by Knosp classification and modified Hardy classification, and tumor gross total resection (GTR)/remission rate, visual improvement rate, complications, operation time, intraoperative bleeding and length of hospital stay were compared between ETS and MTS. RESULTS The GTR rate decreased with increasing Knosp grades for both ETS and MTS, with the rates of 93.3%, 87.5%, 71.4%, 58.8% for ETS and 82.8%, 92.0%, 70.7%, 36.0% for MTS in resecting Knosp grades 0, I, II, and III tumors, respectively. The visual improvement rates increased with increasing Hardy grades, which was 66.7% and 45.5% for Hardy grade B lesion, 72.2% and 71.4% for grade C lesion, and 88.9% and 78.9% for grade D lesion treated by ETS and MTS, respectively. No significant differences were observed for GTR rate, visual outcome and complication rate between ETS and MTS, while ETS resulted in more intraoperative blood loss, longer operative time, and shorter hospital stay than MTS. CONCLUSIONS These data conclude that, compared with MTS, ETS needs longer operation time and results in more intraoperative blood loss, but appears to achieve higher GTR rate for Knosp grade III pituitary tumors.

Close-coupling equation and anisotropic potential developed in our previous research are applied to HF-3He (4He, 6He, 8He, 10He) collision system, and partial cross sections (PCSs) at the incident energy of 40 meV are calculated. By analyzing the differences of these PCSs, change rules of PCSs with the increase of partial wave number, and with the change of the mass of isotope substitution helium atom are obtained. The results show that excitation PCSs converge faster than elastic PCSs for collision energy and each of systems considered here. Also excitation PCSs converge more rapidly for high-excited states. Tail effect is present only in elastic scattering and low-excited states but not in high-excited states. With the increase of the mass of isotope substitution helium atom, converging speed of elastic, total inelastic, and state-to-state excitation PCS slows down, and the maxima of these PCSs undergoes a regular change.

A parameter perturbation for the unsteady-state heat-transfer characteristics of honeycomb regenerator is presented. It is limited to the cases where the storage matrix has a small wall thickness so that no temperature variation in the matrix perpendicular to the flow direction is considered. Starting from a two-phase transient thermal model for the gas and storage matrix, an approximate solution for regenerator heat transfer process is derived using the multiple-scale method for the limiting case where the longitudinal heat conduction of solid matrix is far less than the convective heat transfer between the gas and the solid. The regenerator temperature profiles are expressed as Taylor series of the coefficient of solid heat conduction item in the model. The analytical validity is shown by comparing the perturbation solution with the experiment and the numerical solution. The results show that it is possible for the perturbation to improve the effectiveness and economics of thermal research on regenerators.

The inherent variability and uncertainty of intermittent generations bring great challenges both to the safe operation of power grid. In this paper, we present a novel stochastic security constraint unit commitment (SSCUC) model that can take into account multi-objective and various probability constraints, especially effective in treating transmission constraint. The model focus on the difficulties in controlling of probabilistic power flow, introduces the Gram-Charlier series and cumulant to analyze the stochastic characteristic in the spatial dimension, so as to describe the stochastic factors in unit commitment problem with quantitative analysis means. On this basis, the model will be converted to a deterministic mixed integer programming problem in certain confidence level. The model is illustrated by IEEE 39-bus test system. Numerical results show that the proposed method is efficient and effective for dealing with multi-energy coordinative optimization in power system with intermittent sources.
