1. A study of Intrinsic $\gamma$-ray Emission for {\it Fermi}/LAT-detected BL Lacs

Abstract

BL Lacs are one subclass of blazars with highly energetic $\gamma$-ray emission, which is strongly boosted by a relativistic beaming effect. The latest catalogue of the 10 years of {\it Fermi}/LAT data Abdollahi et al. (2020) and the $\gamma$-ray Doppler factors in Pei et al. (2020) provide us with a large BL Lac sample to study their jet emission morphologies and intrinsic properties. In this paper, we collected a sample of 294 {\it Fermi} BL Lacs and probed the correlations between the $\gamma$-ray emissions and luminosity distances. Our analyses give following conclusions: (1) the observed $\gamma$-ray emissions are really boosted by the $\gamma$-ray Doppler factor, and the intrinsic $\gamma$-ray emissions are closely correlated with luminosity distances. (2) the morphology of jet emissions for HBLs may be continuous, while that for IBLs may be the case of a moving sphere in the $\gamma$-ray bands., Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures, 2 tables. Abstract

We report the temperature-dependent optical conductivity and ARPES studies of the iron-based superconductor (SC) Sr$_{0.67}$Na$_{0.33}$Fe$_2$As$_2$ in the high-temperature tetragonal paramagnetic phase; below the structural and magnetic transitions at $T_{\rm N}\simeq$125 K in the orthorhombic spin-density-wave (SDW)-like phase, and $T_r\simeq$42 K in the reentrant tetragonal double-Q magnetic phase where both charge and SDW order exist; and below the SC transition at $T_c\simeq$10 K. The free-carrier component in the optical conductivity is described by two Drude contributions; one strong and broad, the other weak and narrow. The broad Drude component decreases dramatically below $T_{\rm N}$ and $T_r$, with much of its strength being transferred to a bound excitation in the mid-infrared, while the narrow Drude component shows no anomalies at either of the transitions, actually increasing in strength at low temperature while narrowing dramatically. The behavior of an infrared-active mode suggests zone-folding below $T_r$. Below $T_c$ the dramatic decrease in the low-frequency optical conductivity signals the formation of a SC energy gap. ARPES reveals hole-like bands at the center of the Brillouin zone (BZ), with both electron- and hole-like bands at the corners. Below $T_{\rm N}$, the hole pockets at the center of the BZ decrease in size, consistent with the behavior of the broad Drude component; while below $T_r$ the electron-like bands shift and split, giving rise to a low-energy excitation in the optical conductivity at ~20 meV. The magnetic states, with resulting SDW and charge-SDW order, respectively, lead to a significant reconstruction of the Fermi surface that has profound implications for the transport originating from the electron and hole pockets, but appears to have relatively little impact on the SC in this material., Comment: 11 pages with 6 figures; 7 pages of supplementary material

Abstract

Redundancy is generally considered in the computer room air conditioners (CRACs) of the data center room. The position of the CRAC in the on state and the operating air volume have a great influence on the temperature distribution. The temperature distribution of the data center room will affect the failure rate of the servers and the energy consumption of the air-conditioning system. Taking a typical data center room as an example, this paper uses numerical simulation to study the influence of the on/off state and air volume of CRACs on the temperature distribution of the hot and cold aisles and energy consumption. The calculation results show that we should preferably turn off the staggered CRACs on the opposite side and close to the middle position under the partial load. When the IT load is unevenly distributed, it is irrational to use the setting method of even distribution of the air volume of each CRAC. The air volume of each CRAC should be appropriately adjusted based on the distribution characteristic of IT load to reduce the energy consumption.

Abstract

Magnetic anisotropy has significant importance in both designing high-efficiency magnetic devices and understanding noncollinear spin textures. Here, La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 layers are epitaxially fabricated on the (001)-, (110)-, and (111)-orientated SrTiO3 substrates to manipulate magnetic anisotropy. While the [1 1 ¯ 0] axis is the in-plane magnetic easy axis for the (001) La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 layer, it becomes the hard axis for the (110) and (111) samples. Interestingly, the (110) samples exhibit a great enhancement in magnetic anisotropy energy, reaching at 6.1 × 105 erg/cm3 that is 1–2 orders of magnitude higher than ones in (001) and (111) films. It is also noted that such improved magnetic anisotropy of (110) samples is maintained up to 30 nm. Those observations can be interpreted in terms of the orientation-modified orbital symmetry. While the energetically favored 3 d x 2 − y 2 orbital and degenerated eg orbitals drive the two-dimensional and bulk-like ferromagnetism in (001) and (111) La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 layers, respectively, the 3 d 3 z 2 − r 2 orbital provides the lowest orbital symmetry and results in the highest magnetic anisotropy energy in (110) samples. Meanwhile, this model can also explain the thickness-dependent Curie temperatures with different epitaxial orientations, deepening the understanding of the complex oxide heterostructures for magnetic modulations. Abstract

We present systematic investigation on texture evolution in nanocrystalline Ta under planar shock wave loading at different impact velocities. Seven representative initial textures and two loading directions are studied via large-scale molecular dynamics simulations. Orientation mapping and texture analysis, including orientation distribution functions, pole figures, and inverse pole figures, are performed. Shock compression induces a ⟨ 221 ⟩ texture in nanocrystalline Ta initially with no texture, ⟨ 100 ⟩ fiber texture, { 100 } ⟨ 100 ⟩ texture, and θ + γ rolling texture via twinning, which can be traced back to grains initially with ⟨ 100 ⟩. A ⟨ 100 ⟩ texture is induced via twinning for nanocrystalline Ta initially with no texture, ⟨ 110 ⟩ fiber texture, and α + γ rolling texture and can be traced back to ⟨ 110 ⟩. Dislocation slip and grain boundary sliding lead to the movement of ⟨ 110 ⟩ toward ⟨ 111 ⟩ , and the strengthening of ⟨ 100 ⟩ and ⟨ 111 ⟩ orientation densities. The generation of new textures is observed for most cases. However, no new texture is found in the ⟨ 111 ⟩ fiber texture case for shock loading parallel to the fiber, and a much slower elastic–plastic transition occurs due to the lack of deformation twinning. We investigate with large-scale molecular dynamics simulations texture evolution in nanocrystalline Cu under planar shock wave loading. Five representative initial textures are explored under varying impact strengths. On the basis of Euler angles, we perform orientation mapping and texture analysis, including orientation distribution functions, pole figures, and inverse pole figures. Shock compression induces a weak but apparent ⟨ 110 ⟩ textures in nanocrystalline Cu initially with no texture, and a ⟨ 100 ⟩ fiber texture, and an incomplete weak ⟨ 110 ⟩ texture in nanocrystalline Cu initially with a { 100 } ⟨ 100 ⟩ recrystallization texture; such texture changes can be attributed to deformation twinning and dislocation slip and traced back to grains initially with ⟨ 100 ⟩. A ⟨ 100 ⟩ texture and a { 100 } ⟨ 100 ⟩ cube texture component are induced via twinning in nanocrystalline Cu initially with the ⟨ 111 ⟩ and β fiber textures, respectively, and can be traced back to grains initially with ⟨ 111 ⟩. Abstract

Scientific communication is facilitated by a data-driven, scientifically sound taxonomy that considers the end-user¿s needs and established successful practice. In 2013, the Fusarium community voiced near unanimous support for a concept of Fusarium that represented a clade comprising all agriculturally and clinically important Fusarium species, including the F. solani species complex (FSSC). Subsequently, this concept was challenged in 2015 by one research group who proposed dividing the genus Fusarium into seven genera, including the FSSC described as members of the genus Neocosmospora, with subsequent justification in 2018 based on claims that the 2013 concept of Fusarium is polyphyletic. Here, we test this claim and provide a phylogeny based on exonic nucleotide sequences of 19 orthologous protein-coding genes that strongly support the monophyly of Fusarium including the FSSC. We reassert the practical and scientific argument in support of a genus Fusarium that includes the FSSC and several other basal lineages, consistent with the longstanding use of this name among plant pathologists, medical mycologists, quarantine officials, regulatory agencies, students, and researchers with a stake in its taxonomy. In recognition of this monophyly, 40 species described as genus Neocosmospora were recombined in genus Fusarium, and nine others were renamed Fusarium. Here the global Fusarium community voices strong support for the inclusion of the FSSC in Fusarium, as it remains the best scientific, nomenclatural, and practical taxonomic option available
