Environmental pollution is escalating due to rapid global development that often prioritizes human needs over planetary health. Despite global efforts to mitigate legacy pollutants, the continuous introduction of new substances remains a major threat to both people and the planet. In response, global initiatives are focusing on risk assessment and regulation of emerging contaminants, as demonstrated by the ongoing efforts to establish the UNs Intergovernmental Science-Policy Panel on Chemicals, Waste, and Pollution Prevention. This review identifies the sources and impacts of emerging contaminants on planetary health, emphasizing the importance of adopting a One Health approach. Strategies for monitoring and addressing these pollutants are discussed, underscoring the need for robust and socially equitable environmental policies at both regional and international levels. Urgent actions are needed to transition toward sustainable pollution management practices to safeguard our planet for future generations.

Hydrothermal activities occurred in the Yangtze block, South China, and affected the process of black shale sedimentation in the early Cambrian. Their specific influences, such as the sources, sedimentary environment, and mineralization, have not yet been revealed. Fortunately, the influences are explained through the geochemistry comparison of different wells FY1, XJ1, HY1, and XA1 in northwestern Hunan. The outcomes of the tectonic setting, distinguishable by element indicators, are disorganized. This is caused by the variable element composition, sedimentary recirculation of material source, and hydrothermal materials. FY1, the closest well to Zhangjiajie where Ni–Mo ores were formed by hydrothermal sedimentation, has more different features on the elemental geochemistry, but many indexes still indicate that it is normal sediments. XA1, which is far from the other wells and deposited in the deep-water basin, has significantly more differences in geochemical properties and shows more about normal marine deposition. XJ1 and HY1 are intermediate between them. Based on these wells, the hydrothermal contribution to the black shale sedimentation is not significant. However, some contents of trace and rare earth elements change widely because hydrothermal materials can diffuse and deposit over long distances. The concentration of Ag, As, Ba, Mo, Ba, U, and V generally has dozens of times higher than that of Upper Continental Crust. The early Cambrian environment was primarily anoxic/euxinic with enough sulfur, which is beneficial for enriching metal elements and organic matter. The sequence FY1, XJ1, HY1, and XA1 in turn has the same performance on the distance with Zhangjiajie, different intervals of suboxic environment and element enrichment, and hydrothermal-fluid-addition Ni abundance. Therefore, hydrothermal processes indeed provide materials for element enrichment and support the reducing environment, but the impact of hydrothermal activity decreases on the plane.

Aims: The purpose of this study was to explore a simple and effective method of preparing human acellular amniotic membrane (HAAM) scaffolds, and explore the effect of HAAM scaffolds with juvenile cartilage fragments (JCFs) on osteochondral defects. Methods: HAAM scaffolds were constructed via trypsinization from fresh human amniotic membrane (HAM). The characteristics of the HAAM scaffolds were evaluated by haematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining, picrosirius red staining, type II collagen immunostaining, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Human amniotic mesenchymal stem cells (hAMSCs) were isolated, and stemness was verified by multilineage differentiation. Then, third-generation (P3) hAMSCs were seeded on the HAAM scaffolds, and phalloidin staining and SEM were used to detect the growth of hAMSCs on the HAAM scaffolds. Osteochondral defects (diameter: 3.5 mm; depth: 3 mm) were created in the right patellar grooves of 20 New Zealand White rabbits. The rabbits were randomly divided into four groups: the control group (n = 5), the HAAM scaffolds group (n = 5), the JCFs group (n = 5), and the HAAM + JCFs group (n = 5). Macroscopic and histological assessments of the regenerated tissue were evaluated to validate the treatment results at 12 weeks. Results: In vitro, the HAAM scaffolds had a network structure and possessed abundant collagen. The HAAM scaffolds had good cytocompatibility, and hAMSCs grew well on the HAAM scaffolds. In vivo, the macroscopic scores of the HAAM + JCFs group were significantly higher than those of the other groups. In addition, histological assessments demonstrated that large amounts of hyaline-like cartilage formed in the osteochondral defects in the HAAM + JCFs group. Integration with surrounding normal cartilage and regeneration of subchondral bone in the HAAM + JCFs group were better than those in the other groups. The Miocene Zhujiang Formation is the key horizon for oil and gas exploration in the Pearl River Mouth basin of northern South China Sea. With the help of core observation, seismic attributes and various analytical data, the sedimentary facies marks, distribution of sedimentary facies and depositional model of forced regression in the Miocene Zhujiang Formation of the Pearl River Mouth basin, northern South China Sea, have been studied. Forced regressive deposits were formed during the period when relative sea level ranged from highstand to lowstand and the sediments were forced to undergo progradation so that five sets of foreset delta deposits are developed in turn. In the early stage of forced regression, the normal delta where the delta plain, delta front and prodelta are not absent mainly developed. In the later stage of forced regression, the shelf edge delta with only the delta front and the prodelta, the longshore bar along the shelf break and the turbidite fan in the deep water of the slope area were developed. The favorable reservoir of forced regressive deposits are located near the upper boundary of the falling stage systems tract and the basal surface of forced regression, and they are the sand bodies of shelf edge delta, longshore bar and turbidite fan. The research results may provide guidance for reservoir prediction.

Traditional high‐dose antibiotic treatments of intracellular methicillin‐resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) are highly inefficient and associated with a high rate of infection relapse. As an effective antibacterial technology, sonodynamic therapy (SDT) may be able to break the dilemma. However, indiscriminate reactive oxygen species (ROS) release leads to potential side effects. This study incorporates Staphylococcal Protein A antibody‐modified Cu2+/tetracarboxyphenylporphyrin nanoparticles (Cu(II)NS‐SPA) into hydrogel microspheres (HAMA@Cu(II)NS‐SPA) to achieve precise eradication of intracellular bacteria. This eradication is under bioorthogonal activation mediated by bacillithiol (BSH) (internally) and ultrasound (US) (externally). To specify, the US responsiveness of Cu(II)NS‐SPA is restored when it is reduced to Cu(I)NS‐SPA by the BSH secreted characteristically by intracellular MRSA, thus forming a bioorthogonal activation with the external US, which confines ROS production within the infected MΦ. Under external US activation at 2 W cm−2, over 95% of intracellular MRSA can be cleared. In vivo, a single injection of HAMA@Cu(II)NS‐SPA achieves up to two weeks of antibacterial sonodynamic therapy, reducing pro‐inflammatory factor expression by 90%, and peri‐implant bone trabeculae numbers exceed the control group by five times. In summary, these micro/nano hydrogel microspheres mediated by internal and external bioorthogonal activation can precisely eliminate intracellular MRSA, effectively treating multi‐drug resistant intracellular bacterial infections. Corilagin (CLG) has antitumor activities in certain human malignant cancers. Herein, the effects and mechanisms of CLG on osteosarcoma (OS) were investigated. OS cell viability and proliferation were detected by MTT and colony formation assay. Cell cycle and apoptosis were examined using flow cytometry. The interaction between TRAF6 and FLT3 was investigated using a co‐immunoprecipitation assay. Results demonstrated that CLG treatment inhibited OS cell viability and proliferation but promoted OS cell autophagy and apoptosis in a concentration‐dependent manner. Mechanically, CLG inhibited TRAF6‐mediated FLT3 ubiquitination degradation. TRAF6 overexpression abolished the effects of CLG on OS cell proliferation, autophagy, and apoptosis. Finally, CLG administration inhibited OS tumor growth in mice by inducing autophagy‐dependent apoptosis. Taken together, CLG inhibited OS progression by facilitating mTOR/ULK1 pathway‐mediated autophagy through inhibiting TRAF6‐mediated FLT3 ubiquitination, which indicated that CLG was a promising candidate for the treatment of OS.
