Abstract Background Regulatory T cells (Tregs) play a critical role in shaping the immunosuppressive microenvironment within tumors. Investigating the role of Tregs in Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is crucial for identifying prognostic markers and therapeutic targets for ccRCC. Methods Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) was utilized to pinpoint modules related to Treg infiltration in TCGA-KIRC samples. Following this, consensus clustering was employed to derive two clusters associated with Treg infiltration in ccRCC. A prognostic model was then developed using the gene module associated with Treg infiltration. We then evaluated the ability of the prognostic model to predict ccRCC overall survival and demonstrated that RCN1 can be used as a target to predict ccRCC prognosis. Results We deduce that the two clusters associated with Treg infiltration exhibit distinct compositions of the immune microenvironment, pathway activations, prognosis, and drug sensitivities commonly utilized in ccRCC treatment. Furthermore, a 7-gene model risk score, developed based on ccRCC Treg infiltration, proved to be a reliable prognostic marker in both training and validation cohorts. Additionally, survival analysis indicated that RCN1 serves as a reliable prognostic factor for ccRCC. Single-cell sequencing analysis revealed that RCN1 is predominantly expressed in tumor cells. A pan-cancer analysis highlighted that RCN1 is linked with poor prognosis and the activation of inflammatory response pathways across various cancers. Conclusion We developed a prognostic model associated with Treg infiltration, which facilitates the clinical categorization of ccRCC progression. Moreover, our findings underscore the significant potential of RCN1 as a ccRCC biomarker.

Slope stability analysis is an important part of rockfill dam design, and the uncertainty of rock and soil physical and mechanical parameters has a significant impact on slope stability. In this article, based on physical and mechanical parameters c and φ, simplified Bishop’s method and mean clustering method are adopted to study the influence of parameter cohesion c and internal friction Angle φ on slope safety factor k of composite geomembrane rockfill dam, and the key and non-critical areas of the dam are preliminarily differentiated according to the different influences of the changes in different sections of the dam body on slope safety factor c and φ. The research results show that whether c and φ change ±5 and ±10% simultaneously with single parameter or double parameter, it shows that cohesion force c has little influence on slope stability, while internal friction Angle φ is the most sensitive factor in slope stability calculation, and its numerical accuracy has a great influence on the calculation result of safety factor. In addition, the influence of c and φ in key areas on the stability of the dam body is more significant. Therefore, in the construction of a composite geofilm rockfill dam, a relatively accurate φ value is required when selecting parameters, especially in key areas. This study not only has a certain guiding significance for the property requirements of the selected soil, engineering safety, and engineering optimization design, but also puts forward some new methods and ideas for optimizing the design scheme and improving the safety of the dam.

Objective·To analyse the structure of non-canonical polycomb repressive complex 1.6 (PRC1.6) by negative staining and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and obtain the three-dimensional (3D) profile information of human PRC1.6 heptameric complex.Methods·Seven PRC1.6 components, RNF2, PCGF6, RYBP, L3MBTL2, CBX3, E2F6, and TFDP1, were cloned into the pMLink vector with a 6×His-3×Flag tag at the N-terminus, respectively. The proteins were expressed in Expi293F cells grown in suspension cultures by using transfection with polyethylenimine. The tagged proteins were isolated via affinity purification with anti-DYKDDDDK G1 affinity resin, followed by gel filtration chromatography with Superdex 200 Increase 10/300 GL and glycerol density gradient centrifugation. The components of the PRC1.6 heptameric complex were confirmed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The in vitro ubiquitination activity and nucleosome-binding affinity of the purified heptameric complex were verified by the ubiquitination activity assay and the electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA). The protein samples were stained by uranyl acetate and observed by TEM. The 3D information of the PRC1.6 complex was studied by single particle analysis. To predict the localization of the seven components within the structure model of PRC1.6 complex, the structure models of proteins in Protein Data Bank (PDB) were docked into the electron density map of PRC1.6 complex by using UCSF Chimera software.Results·The PRC1.6 complex with high purity and good homogeneity was obtained by eukaryotic expression, affinity purification, gel filtration chromatography and glycerol density gradient centrifugation, and confirmed as the heptameric complex by LC-MS/MS. The purified proteins showed ubiquitination activity and nucleosome-binding affinity in vitro. The 3D structure of the PRC1.6 heptameric complex with a resolution of 15.2 Å (1 Å=10-10 m) was preliminarily resolved by negative staining, TEM, and single particle analysis. The available structure models of RNF2, PCGF6, RYBP, L3MBTL2, CBX3, and DP1 proteins, as well as the predicted E2F6 structure by AlphaFold2, were docked into the reconstructed density map of PRC1.6 complex. The position of each component in the complex was preliminarily confirmed.Conclusion·The 3D structural model of the human PRC1.6 heptameric complex is obtained by negative staining, TEM, and single particle analysis.

Abstract The origin of elemental chromium for the archaeological weapons from the pits of Qin terracotta warriors in China has been highly controversial. Although previous studies have highlighted that the chromium on the surface of weapon originated from the contamination of surrounding lacquer, the exact origin of chromium in the lacquer remains unclear. In this work, the measurement by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) firstly confirmed that the elemental chromium was indeed contained in the archaeological Qin original lacquer. Nevertheless, the amount of elemental chromium in the Qin lacquer was as low as 0.0759 μg/mg, disclosing that it was impossible to artificially add extra refined chromium-containing substance to the lacquer in the preparation of the terracotta warriors. The soil from the archaeological site of Qin lacquer was found to have a chromium amount of 0.0660 μg/mg by ICP-MS. After the hygrothermal and soil-buried aging cycles for the lab-prepared lacquer, the surface and depth elemental analyses by time of flight-secondary ion mass spectrometer (TOF–SIMS) showed a gradient distribution of elemental chromium from the surface to interior of aged lacquer, indicating the migration and enrichment behavior of elemental chromium from the burial soil towards the lacquer. To explore the migration mechanism of elemental chromium, fluorescence imaging technique was employed in combination with Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) characterizations. The results revealed that catechol-containing fragments were formed during hygrothermal and soil-buried aging of lacquer and consequently coordinated with chromium ions, inducing the migration of elemental chromium towards the lacquer.

Satellite data assimilation pre-processing plays a crucial role in bridging satellite data pre-processing and numerical weather prediction model assimilation. It involves integrating pre-processed satellite measurements, orbital splicing and sparsification of satellite data, the fusion of boundary condition parameters under satellite pixels, and the assimilation pre-processing quality control of satellite data by using a unified file format and in accordance with the requirements of the data assimilation system. In the variational assimilation of numerical forecasts, assimilation pre-processing filters effective information from satellite pre-processed measurements, supports the positive contribution of satellite data assimilation to numerical forecast operations, and is an important link in determining the efficiency, quality and effectiveness of assimilation of large quantities of satellite data. In response to the complex format of satellite data from multiple channels, CMA has developed a standard format of high time-sensitive satellite data splicing technology in the pre-processing of satellite data assimilation, which effectively reduces the negative impact of the time lag of whole-orbit satellite data on operational numerical prediction. In the assimilation pre-processing of Fengyun satellite data, the assimilation prequality control of multi-spectral data fusion is achieved by front-loading cloud and precipitation detection, data analysis, analysis and other processing into the assimilation pre-processing, which ensures the positive assimilation contribution of Fengyun microwave temperature sounding data and infrared hyperspectral data. In the development of satellite data assimilation pre-processing technology, reprocessing of pre-processed satellite data by using a unified data format, expanding the processing for satellite imagery and active detection data, and front-loading a part of satellite data assimilation quality control function into data assimilation pre-processing are important trends in the development of future assimilation pre-processing technology for Fengyun satellite data.

Plants encounter various biotic and abiotic stresses throughout their lifecycle, which can adversely impact their productivity and lead to yield loss. This ultimately results in a significant decline in food production with global pressure on declining agriculture. The agrochemical pesticides have been proven effective in controlling various diseases in major crops, their excessive use poses significant risks to the environment and human health and negatively impacts non-target host microbiota. Novel approaches in the form of host plant microbiome as an alternative strategy to overcome these stresses have recently gained increasing attention. Emerging evidence suggests that plants subjected to biotic and abiotic stress experience diverse microbial local (diffusible) and distant (volatile organic compounds) metabolites and respond with the expression of defense genes (transcriptomic variations) that result in changing leaf and root exudates and alter resident microbial community structure. The relative abundance of symbiotic microorganisms under stress may favor plant survival and enhance adaptation during stress. Thus, to counter the negative effects, introducing an efficient microbiome into the host crop is highly desirable due to the attractive functional potential of the phytomicrobiome. Here, we summarize more effective and reproducible strategies to use microbial activities in crop production and protection to promote a suitable agricultural environment. In addition, detailed molecular mechanisms of phytomicrobiome in stimulating plant immune system, the interaction between microbiome and plant defense system, and defense strategies of microbiome against biotic and abiotic factors have been described. Finally, we explored the plant-based strategies for microbiome engineering and bioinformatics methods to predict microbiome functions.

This study investigated the effects of food culture on the economic and ecological development of rural rivers and adolescents’ intentions toward tourism in high-risk leisure environments. The study applied a mixed-methods design. A questionnaire was designed and distributed to recruited participants, and 900 responses were collected and analyzed, with SPSS 26.0 used to perform basic statistical validation and Pearson’s correlation analysis. Structured interviews were conducted to collect the opinions of experts, tourists, and residents of the investigated areas. A multivariate analysis was used to analyze the results, which revealed that superior economic, societal, and ecological development is associated with greater leisure, tourism, and consumption intentions. However, varying levels of environmental literacy among tourists can present challenges. Problems such as tourism waste; overdevelopment; loss of historic architectural features; and pollution of water, forests, and air may deter young tourists from revisiting an area and diminish their willingness to engage in and share leisure experiences.

Objective: This study aimed to study the effect of matcha on lipid oxidation during the storage of coix seed. Methods: The fresh coix seeds were used as raw material and treated with matcha tea powder in different doses. The changes in water content, fatty acid value, peroxidation value, malondialdehyde content, total number of colonies and key enzyme of lipid oxidation were determined during the storage of coix seeds. Results: The treatment with different doses of matcha powder could inhibit the increase of fatty acid value, peroxide value, malondialdehyde content, lipase, and lipoxygenase activities, and reduce water consumption and microbial growth during storage of coix seeds. The preservation effect of matcha on coix seeds was dose-dependent to a certain extent, but the difference in the preservation effect of adding matcha tea powder with a mass fraction of 0.05% and 0.08% was small. After 4 months of storage, compared with the self-sealing bags group, the fatty acid value, peroxide value and malondialdehyde content of coix seeds in the treatment group with the addition of 0.05% matcha powder were decreased by 31.6%, 30.77% and 44.83%, respectively. The activities of lipase and lipoxygenase decreased by 23.05% and 28.74%, respectively, and the composition and content of free fatty acids were more similar to those of fresh coix seeds. Conclusion: Matcha could effectively inhibit lipid oxidation during storage of coix seeds and extended shelf life.

Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB (Toll-like receptor 4/myeloid differentiation factor/nuclear factor kappa B) signalling pathway on the protective effect of ulinastatin on the intestinal mucosal barrier in mice with sepsis. Methods A mouse model of sepsis was established by classical caecal ligation and perforation. Forty-four SPF C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into the following four groups with 11 mice in each group: the control group (Con group), ulinastatin group (Uti group), Uti + LPS (lipopolysaccharide, LPS) group (Uti + LPS group) and LPS group. Mice in the Con group and Uti group received saline or ulinastatin injected 2 h after modelling; Mice in the Uti + LPS group received LPS injected 0 h after modelling, other procedures were the same as in the Uti group; Mice in the LPS group received LPS only. At 48 h after surgery, the levels of TNF-α (tumour necrosis factor-α, TNF-α), IL-6 (interleukin-6, IL-6) and IL-1β (interleukin-1β, IL-1β) in vein, and the expression of TLR4, MyD88 and NF-κB mRNA in small intestinal mucosa tissues using ELISA and RT‒PCR. Results The pathological specimens showed increased inflammatory injury in the Con and LPS groups, while these injuries and changes improved in the Uti group. Radiation-induced brain injury (RBI) is a common long-term complication of radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and seriously affects the quality of life and overall survival of patients. In the era of intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), the long-term complications after radiotherapy, especially RBI, are becoming increasingly concerning because a number of treated patients with NPC obtain long-term survival. At present, the understanding of RBI is still being explored, and its pathogenesis and treatment methods are continuously updated. This article reviews the research progress of RBI in patients with NPC.

BackgroundXanthogranulomatous cholecystitis (XGC) and gallbladder carcinoma (GBC) share similar imaging and serological profiles, posing significant challenges in accurate preoperative diagnosis. This study aimed to identify reliable indicators and develop a predictive model to differentiate between XGC and GBC.MethodsThis retrospective study involved 436 patients from Zhejiang Provincial People’s Hospital and The Affiliated Lihuili Hospital of Ningbo University. Comprehensive preoperative imaging, including ultrasound, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and blood tests, were analyzed. Machine learning (Random Forest method) was employed for variable selection, and a multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to construct a nomogram for predicting GBC. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS and RStudio software.ResultsThe study identified gender, Murphy’s sign, absolute neutrophil count, glutamyl transpeptidase level, carcinoembryonic antigen level, and comprehensive imaging diagnosis as potential risk factors for GBC. A nomogram incorporating these factors demonstrated high predictive accuracy for GBC, outperforming individual or combined traditional diagnostic methods. External validation of the nomogram showed consistent results.ConclusionThe study successfully developed a predictive nomogram for distinguishing GBC from XGC with high accuracy. This model, integrating multiple clinical and imaging indicators, offers a valuable tool for clinicians in making informed diagnostic decisions. The findings advocate for the use of comprehensive preoperative evaluations combined with advanced analytical tools to improve diagnostic accuracy in complex medical conditions.

With the greater popularity of the Internet, on the one hand, online education platforms have flourished and education informatization has entered a new era, with massive learning behavior data generated by learners in different learning platforms. This paper constructs a portrait of student learning behavior based on the characteristics of their learning behavior in the health education class. Based on the clustering analysis method in the big data mining algorithm, the user’s behavioral characteristics are analyzed. On this basis, the algorithm is improved by using collaborative filtering personalized recommendation and introducing the LDA model, and a customized teaching model is constructed in the context of health education, and its application effect is explored. From the four dimensions of “course completion characteristics”, “teaching interaction characteristics”, “learning input characteristics,” and “learning achievement characteristics”, we analyzed different groups of students and investigated the effect of its application. “The behavioral characteristics of different groups of students were analyzed, and it was concluded that Group A and Group B performed better, but Group C accounted for a higher percentage of 24%. Finally, according to the collaborative filtering-based digital customized teaching on the students’ health education test scores for the pre and post-test, it was concluded that the average scores of the experimental subjects increased after the post-test. The mean scores for the third post-test were 4.27, 4.44, and 4.35, respectively. It can be concluded that the customized teaching model has a significant improvement in the students’ classroom teaching effectiveness.

Symmetry-protected bound states in the continuum (SP-BICs) are one of the most intensively studied BICs. Typically, SP-BICs must be converted into quasi-BICs (QBICs) by breaking the unit cell’s symmetry so that they can be accessed by the external excitation. The symmetry-broken usually results in a varied resonance wavelength of QBICs which are also highly sensitive to the asymmetry parameters. In this work, we demonstrate that QBICs with a stable resonance wavelength can be realized by breaking translational symmetry in an all-dielectric metasurface. The unit cell of metasurface is made of a silicon nanodisk dimer. The Q-factor of QBICs is precisely tuned by changing the interspacing of two nanodisks while their resonance wavelength is quite stable against the interspacing. We also find that such BICs show weak dependence on the shape of the nanodisk. Multiple decompositions indicate that the toroidal dipole dominates this type of QBIC. The resonance wavelengths of QBICs can be tuned only by changing either the lattice constants or the radius of nanodisk. Finally, we present experimental demonstrations on such a QBIC with a stable resonance wavelength. The highest measured Q-factor of QBICs is >3000. Our results may find promising applications in enhancing light–matter interaction.

Phosphorus (P) starvation in rice facilitates the reutilization of root cell wall P by enhancing the pectin content. NaCl modulates pectin content, however, it is still unknown whether NaCl is also involved in the process of pectin regulated cell wall P remobilization in rice under P starved conditions. In this study, we found that 10 mmol/L NaCl increased the shoot and root biomasses under P deficiency to a remarkable extent, in company with the elevated shoot and root soluble P contents in rice. Further analysis indicated that exogenous NaCl enhanced the root cell wall P mobilization by increasing the pectin methylesterase activity and uronic acid content in pectin suggesting the involvement of NaCl in the process of cell wall P reutilization in P starved rice roots. Additionally, exogenous NaCl up-regulated the expression of P transporter OsPT6, which was induced by P deficiency, suggesting that NaCl also facilitated the P translocation prominently from root to shoot in P starved rice. Moreover, exogenous abscisic acid (ABA) can reverse the NaCl-mediated mitigation under P deficiency, indicating the involvement of ABA in the NaCl regulated root cell wall P reutilization. Taken together, our results demonstrated that NaCl can activate the reutilization of root cell wall P in P starved rice, which is dependent on the ABA accumulation pathway.

Skin wounds are prone to fungal infections and may threaten patients’ lives in severe cases. However, conventional treatment protocols rarely promote skin wound repair by modulating microRNA (miRNA). A novel binuclear cobalt(ii) complex with the chemical formula [Co2(MBBA)2(HPT)2(H2O)2]·2H2O (1) was synthesized through the reaction of 2-(4-methylbenzoyl) benzoic acid and 3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole in the presence of 3,4-pyridine dicarboxylic acid as the template reagent. With natural polysaccharide hyaluronic acid and carboxymethyl chitosan as raw material, based on the chemical synthesis of epidermal cell growth factor for the load of metal gel particles, the microstructure and skin wound healing effect were studied. Molecular docking simulation showed that neither the carboxyl nor triazole group formed binding interactions with the active sites on proteins. Instead, the carbonyl group interacted with the active sites through hydrogen bonding. This study not only provides an effective solution to promote skin wound repair by modulating miRNAs but also provides useful ideas for synthesizing organometallic ligand-based hydrogels and their applications in biomedical fields.

Abstract Background and purpose The complications of radical surgery for cervical cancer can increase patient suffering and affect their quality of life. This retrospective study assessed the safety of radical hysterectomy (RH) with pelvic lymph node dissection (PLND) by observing the complications of patients with cervical cancer who underwent this procedure in a single centre over 10 years. Our findings may provide experience and evidence for preventing and reducing complications. Methods A total of 2226 cervical cancer patients who met the inclusion criteria were enrolled. All patients underwent RH + PLND. Intraoperative injury to adjacent tissues and short-term and long-term complications were recorded to analyze factors associated with the occurrence of complications. Results Postoperative complications occurred in 34.41% (766/2226) of patients, including 7.68% of patients with injury to adjacent tissues, 31.45% with short-term complications, and 2.96% with long-term complications. Age, tumor size, invasion depth, parametrial invasion, lymph vascular space invasion (LVSI), lymph node metastasis, International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage, and surgical procedure were closely associated with the postoperative complications of RH + PLND (P IB2, and who underwent open surgery were more prone to complications.

The vast applications of 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde-derived systems in the sensors originate from their unusual excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) fluorescence in the molecules. The mechanism of ESIPT fluorescence in the solvated 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde carbohydrazone (HNLSC) system was investigated by ab initio time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) calculation. The solvation stabilized both ground state and excited state in the enol form, and the medium intramolecular interaction ensured the bond break, bond-forming and proton transfer in the conversion from excited enol form to keto form. ESIPT reaction from the enol form to the keto form had a low barrier of 2.54 kcal mol−1 in the cyclohexane solvation, and all the calculated emission was consistent with the experimental findings. Moreover, the disaggregation of excited enol form was favoured instead of the IPT conversion to keto form, vanishing the specific ESIPT pathway in the protic surroundings. Our research can give a meaningful insight into the two kinds of fluorescence spectroscopy in the HNISC system found by experimental measurement and be potential guidance to the application of 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde-derived systems in the development of new-type sensors, nonlinear optical materials and biochemical probes.

Objective: This study aimed to develop a method of rapid detection of tetracyclines including tetracycline, oxytetracycline, aureomycin and doxycyclin in aquatic products with deep eutectic solvents （DES） extraction and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry （UPLC-MS/MS）. Methods: Different parameters of DES, such as the types of solvents, molar ratio of solvents, water content, and pH value were optimized. Results: The optimum deep eutectic solvent conditions for the medicament analysis of four tetracyclines in aquatic products were choline chloride-glycerol combination（molar ratio 1∶4） with 90% moisture content and 0.1% formic acid. Under the control of these condition, the four types of tetracyclines could be significantly separated, with a linear correlation of 0.999 4 in the mass concentration range of 5.0~200.0 ng/mL and LOD of 20.0 μg/kg. The recovery of each target component ranged from 82.2% to 102.8%, and the RSD was less than 10%. The analytical method developed was used to detect four kinds of tetracyclines in different samples including 13 batches of commercially available aquatic products, one quality control （QC） sample, and one international proficiency testing sample. The result indicated that oxytetracycline and doxycycline could be detected in one batch of shrimp sample from the market with a concentration of 64.8 μg/kg, and 25.4 μg/kg, respectively, while the content of tetracyclines in QC sample and international proficiency testing sample were all within the limits of given characteristic values. Conclusion: The novel DES-UPLC-MS/MS method developed is feasible to both the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the tetracyclines in aquatic products, which an advantage of simple pre-processing and high accuracy and efficiency.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the effect of Pediococcus pentosaceus J8 fermented kiwifruit on bread baking and flavor profile characteristics of wheat bread. Methods: The changes in β-glucosidase enzyme activity, organic acids and flavor compounds during kiwifruit fermentation were analyzed. The physical and chemical properties of wheat dough incorporated with fermented kiwifruit were determined. Moreover, the changes in total dietary fiber and total amino acid content, bread quality and flavor characteristics of the resulted bread were also determined. Results: After 15.5 hours of fermentation, the β-glucosidase activity reached 55.13 U/L, and the content of lactic acid and acetic acid significantly increased. A total of 110 flavor compounds were detected by GC-TOF/MS in kiwifruit. After fermentation, the content of acids, esters, alcohols and terpenes increased, while the content of aldehydes and ketones decreased. For the first time, α-angelica lactone, furfuryl acetate and pantolactone were found in kiwifruit. In dough, compared with the unfermented group, the α-amylase and protease activities increased by 14.86% and 18.63%, respectively after incorporation of fermented kiwifruit. In bread, compared with the unfermented group, the hardness （11.58%） decreased, while the soluble dietary fiber, total amino acids and specific volume increased by 12.54%, 41.02% and 18.59%, respectively. In addition, bread incorporated with fermented kiwifruit tasted better, had an increased content （27.78%） and type （45.10%） of flavor compounds and a higher overall acceptability than bread incorporated with unfermented kiwifruit. Conclusion: Fermenting kiwifruit with Pediococcus pentosaceuscan improve the flavor and baking characteristics of bread.

Objective To analyze the adverse drug reaction（ADR） reports of hydroxychloroquine for clinical medication safety. Methods The ADR reports of hydroxychloroquine between May 2019 and May 2021 were analyzed. Age, reasons for drug use, time of ADR, combined drug use, and ADR outcomes were statistically analyzed. Results No severe ADR was reported. Patients over 60 years old accounted for 53.85% of the total cases, and the time of ADR appearance was significantly earlier among those under 60 years old. A total of 61.54% of ADRs were involved in multiple organs, and optic neurotoxicity was reported in 46.15% of cases. Conclusion In the treatment of oral lichen planus with hydroxychloroquine, adverse drug reactions should be monitored, and increased attention should be given to patients over 60 years old to ensure the safety of this medication.

Broadband pulsed lasers have become an indispensable part in optical communications, biomedical engineering, materials processing, and national defense. Inspired by the broadband and ultrafast optical components, great efforts from the laser and material community have been paid to explore the emerging nonlinear optical materials. Here, we found that the VO2/V2O5 core–shell heterostructures with type-II staggered band alignment exhibit broadband nonlinear optical response towards mid-infrared spectral range. The nonlinear optical characterizations verify that the heterostructures show the modulation depth and saturation intensity of 27% and 42 GW/cm2 at 1064 nm, 23% and 78 GW/cm2 at 1550 nm, and 16.5% and 63.9 GW/cm2 at 2800 nm, respectively. With the nonlinear optical modulator, stable mode-locked Yb-doped and Er-doped fiber lasers have been realized with pulse output as short as 310 ps and 633 fs, respectively. In addition, the stable Q-switched Er-doped fluoride fiber laser has been demonstrated with a pulse repetition rate of 89 kHz and the shortest pulse width of 680 ns, respectively. The experimental results indicate that VO2/V2O5 core–shell heterostructures can be broadband nonlinear optical modulators from the near-infrared to the mid-infrared spectral range, offering opportunities to develop high-performance photonic devices.

Objective To investigate the effect systemic intraoperative warming on cardiac function of patients after off-pump coronary bypass grafting (OPCABG). Methods A total of 530 patients undergoing OPCABG were enrolled and divided into two groups. Neck radiotherapy is an important means to prevent and treat cervical lymph node metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Studies have found that radiation can directly or indirectly damage blood vessels, accelerate the process of atherosclerosis, and then cause carotid artery stenosis, increasing the risk of transient cerebral ischemia and stroke after radiotherapy. At present, we often apply color doppler ultrasound to detect the changes of carotid artery and actively prevent and reduce risk factors to decrease the occurrence of carotid artery stenosis. Carotid artery stenosis can be treated with early drug intervention and surgery. This article reviews the current research status of carotid artery injury caused by radiotherapy.

Abstract Objective This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes for patients with stage IB2/IIA2 cervical squamous cell carcinoma treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy combined with radical surgery. Methods A total of 68 patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma were randomly divided into the experimental group (n = 35) and the control group (n = 33). The patients in the experimental group received paclitaxel plus cisplatin neoadjuvant chemotherapy for two cycles, then underwent radical hysterectomy and bilateral adnexectomy at 2 weeks post-chemotherapy. The control group only underwent radical hysterectomy and bilateral adnexectomy after the diagnosis of cervical squamous cell carcinoma. The toxic and side effects of chemotherapy in the experimental group were observed. Also, the operation method, operation time, blood loss, grade of wound healing, complications, and postoperative pathology were noted in the two groups. Primary foci and pelvic lymph node recurrence and distant metastasis were observed, and 3-year and 5-year survival rates were calculated. Results Only one patient in the experiment had grade III bone marrow suppression; no other grade III and IV chemotherapy toxic reactions were observed. The operation was successfully completed in all patients. The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, placement of the ureteral catheter, bladder injury, ureteric injury, postoperative urinary tub, pelvic drainage tube indwelling time, anal exhaust time, postoperative complications, and metastatic ratio of lymph nodes were not significantly different between the two groups (P > 0.05). The number of dissected lymph nodes, deep myometrial invasion, and vascular tumor emboli showed a significant difference in the experimental group compared with the control group (P < 0.05). The 3-year disease-free survival (82.9% vs 81.9%), 5-year disease-free survival (71.4% vs 60.6%), 3-year overall survival (91.4% vs 87.8%), and 5-year overall survival (82.9% vs 75.6%) were not statistically significantly different between the experimental group and the control group (P > 0.05). Conclusions Neoadjuvant chemotherapy in IB2/IIA2 stage cervical squamous cell carcinoma showed low toxic side effects. Radical surgery after chemotherapy is safe and feasible. It plays a coordinating role in reducing the tumor infiltration depth of the deep muscle layer and the incidence of vascular tumor emboli, reducing the use of postoperative adjuvant therapy, and improving the quality of life of patients, but does not improve the 3-year/5-year survival rate.

With rapid urbanization, administrative zoning adjustment has become an important means for local governments to promote urban development. The adjustment brings rapid expansion of land elements for core urban areas. Would the local government strengthen the land operation with adjusted zoning to attract investment and financing? The micro-transaction data of land transfer in the adjusted areas in the Yangtze River Delta region from 2007 to 2018 were taken as samples. The methods used include multi-stage Difference in Difference and Triple Difference models. On the basis of controlling urban economic and land parcel characteristics, this paper discusses whether the administrative division adjustment has strengthened the land operation degree in the adjusted area. The results show that: 1) compared with the areas without administrative zoning adjustment, the price of industrial land in the adjusted areas reduced by a significant 14.6%, and the transferred area of industrial land increased by a remarkable 61.5%. The transfer price of residential and commercial land increased by 13.3% and 6.9%, respectively, and their total transfer expense rose by 25%. The empirical results show that administrative zoning adjustment strengthens the operation of land transfers in the adjusted areas, and shifts more industrial land at a lower price to attract investment and commercial and residential land at a higher price for more "land finance." 2) In the first five years after the administrative zoning adjustment, land price increased significantly, but the policy effect was not substantial after five years, indicating that the strengthening of land operation had a short-term effect. 3) Because of the difficulties in regional integration, different types of administrative zoning adjustments inflate land prices to varied degrees. Compared with "consolidation of municipal districts" and "adjustment of the scope of municipal districts," "withdrawal of cities (counties) to set up districts" has a lower impact on land price. This paper aims to reveal the land transmission mechanism behind the performance of administrative zoning adjustment policy, and provide new empirical evidence for the evaluation of administrative zoning adjustment in China, starting from the role of local governments and using the micro-transaction data of land transfer.

The genus Medicago L. (Fabaceae) comprises approximately 87 different species of herbs and shrubs widespread from the Mediterranean to central Asia. Medicago polymorpha is a herbaceous legume that can be a useful pasture plant, in particular, in regions with a Mediterranean climate. It had aroused great interest due to high nutritious quality, highly palatability and N-fixing plan in neutral soil. There is no information on its population genetic structure, genetic diversity, and morphological variability in Iran. Due to the medicinal importance of this species, a genetic variability and populations’ structure study is performed studying 15 geographical populations of Medicago polymorpha. Therefore, we used six inter-retrotransposon amplified polymorphism (IRAP) markers and 15 combined IRAP markers to reveal within and among population genetic diversity in this plant. AMOVA test produced significant genetic difference (PhiPT = 0.46, P = 0.010) among the studied populations and also revealed that, 66% of total genetic variability was due to within population diversity while, 34% was due to among population genetic differentiation. Mantel test showed positive significant correlation between genetic distance and geographical distance of the studied populations. STRUCTURE analyses and population assignment test revealed some degree of gene flow among these populations. PCoA plot of populations was in agreement with UPGMA clustering of molecular data. These results indicated that geographical populations of Medicago polymorpha are well differentiated based on (IRAP) markers.

Since its inception nearly a half century ago, CHARMM has been playing a central role in computational biochemistry and biophysics. Commensurate with the developments in experimental research and advances in computer hardware, the range of methods and applicability of CHARMM have also grown. This review summarizes major developments that occurred after 2009 when the last review of CHARMM was published. They include the following: new faster simulation engines, accessible user interfaces for convenient workflows, and a vast array of simulation and analysis methods that encompass quantum mechanical, atomistic, and coarse-grained levels, as well as extensive coverage of force fields. In addition to providing the current snapshot of the CHARMM development, this review may serve as a starting point for exploring relevant theories and computational methods for tackling contemporary and emerging problems in biomolecular systems. Van der Waals heterostructures are composed of stacked atomically thin two-dimensional (2D) crystals to provide unprecedented functionalities and novel physics. Franckeite, a naturally occurring van der Waals heterostructure consisting of superimposed SnS2-like and PbS-like layers alternately, shows intriguing potential in versatile optoelectronic applications. Here, we have prepared the few-layer franckeite via liquid-phase exfoliation method and characterized its third-order nonlinearity and ultrafast dynamics experimentally. We have found that the layered franckeite shows low saturable intensity, large modulation depth and picosecond ultrafast response. We have designed the passive photonic diodes based on the layered franckeite/C60 cascaded film and suspension configuration and found that the passive photonic diodes exhibit stable nonreciprocal transmission of light. The experimental results show the excellent nonlinear optical performance and ultrafast response of the layered franckeite, which may make inroad for the cost effective and reliable high-performance optoelectronic devices.

Two-dimensional layered materials (2DLM) have become the subject of intensive research in various applications such as electronics, photonics and optoelectronics due to their unique physical properties. As a new class of 2DLM, MXenes have attracted great interest due to their superior performance in a wide variety of applications such as batteries, supercapacitors, catalysts, electronics and optics. Here, we have investigated the broadband spatial self-phase modulation (SSPM) and ultrafast response of the MXene Ti3C2Tx (T=O, OH or F) experimentally. The MXene Ti3C2Tx exhibited the broadband nonlinear optical response via SSPM from 400 nm to ~1 μm under the ultrafast laser excitation, and ultrafast carrier characteristics with an ultrafast recovery time with femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy. The experimental results have shown that the MXenes have the broadband nonlinear optical response, which can lay a foundation for the application prospect for the MXene-based ultrafast optoelectronic devices.

Macro fiber composites（MFC） have a good application prospect in aeroelastic buffeting control. The MFC actuator was modeled using the load simulation method. The aerodynamic forces were simulated by the doublet-lattice method and the control laws were designed applying the negative velocity feedback algorithm. The influences of airflow velocity on the inherent characteristics of vertical tail and the control mechanism of buffeting active control were studied. The results show that the airflow velocity affects the inherent characteristics of the vertical tail. The additional aerodynamic force,mainly including the part which is inverse phase with the velocity,plays an additional damping role on the system below the flutter velocity. The piezoelectric driving force can even do positive work,but can make the additional aerodynamic force consume more energy so that the total energy consumption of the system increases. The results can provide useful reference for the practical buffeting active control and its application.

BACKGROUND The content of gallium in coal fly ash is 12-230μg/g. The determination of gallium in coal fly ash is crucial to realize the high-value-added utilization of coal fly ash. As a sample pretreatment method, the conventional open wet digestion method has limitations including a large amount of hydrofluoric acid, corrosion of analytical instruments, long dissolution time, the loss of elements, and environmental pollution. Microwave digestion has the advantages of complete digestion, minimal loss, and short digestion time, which can effectively solve the shortcomings of the open wet digestion method. OBJECTIVES To develop a good method for the determination of gallium in coal fly ash. METHODS The coal fly ash was collected from a power plant in Inner Mongolia. The sample was digested with nitric acid (5.0mL), hydrofluoric acid (1.0mL), hydrochloric acid (5.0mL) and perchloric acid (1.0mL) by microwave digestion and then determined by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). RESULTS The results showed that gallium could be leached totally using HNO3-HF-HCl-HClO4 (5:1:5:1, V/V) when the temperature was 190℃, the time 30 minutes and the microwave power 1400W. The limit of detection was 0.004mg/L. The relative standard deviation (RSD) was 1.7% with the recoveries ranging from 95.1% to 100.9%. CONCLUSIONS ICP-OES with microwave digestion method adds hydrochloric acid and reduces the amount of hydrofluoric acid, thus shortening the time of removing fluoride and reducing the damage to instruments. The method is easy to be used for the determination of trace gallium in coal fly ash.

In this paper, it was studied that the effects of heating rate and four metal oxide on the combustion characteristics of excess sludge, such as CaO, Fe2O3, MgO and Al2O3, and the combustion kinetic parameters of sludge were obtained based on Coats-Redfern model. This result indicated that the ignition of sludge can be restricted with the increase of heating rate, but it was conducive to burnout, and the increasing about the flammability, stability and comprehensive combustion characteristic index of sludge. The addition of Fe2O3 and Al2O3 could improve the ignition performance of sludge to a certain extent, which was most obvious at the heating rate of 10 and 20 °C/min, respectively. Furthermore, the existence of Fe2O3, MgO and Al2O3 can improve the burnout performance of sludge, represented by MgO. Under the condition of low heating rate, the presence of Fe2O3 and MgO was beneficial to improve the comprehensive combustion characteristics of sludge. According to the distribution of combustion kinetics parameters, it was showed an increasing trend about the activation energy of sludge with the increase of heating rate at the range of 374.88-575.61 °C, which was also unfavorable to the combustion of fixed carbon. At the same heating rate, the activation energy decreased by adding Fe2O3 and Al2O3 at the range of 148.40-374.88 °C, which was beneficial to the release of volatiles and the combustion reaction, while the activation energy at the range of 374.88-575.61 °C decreased after adding CaO, which promoted the combustion of fixed carbon.

The task scheduling in cloud computing and the research status of cloud computing task scheduling algorithm are classified and summarized according to different scheduling goal. Muti-objective task scheduling algorithm can be divided into artificial bee colony algorithm, imperialist competitive algorithm, bat algorithm, cat swarm optimization algorithm. Each algorithm is analyzed and summarized in detail for the advantages and disadvantages. Each algorithm is compared. The related experiment platforms are analyzed and compared.

Objective To investigate the effect of modified Yangyin Qingfei decoction combined with nutritional intervention on the nutritional status and the efficacy of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients treated with radiotherapy. Methods A total of 120 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma who received radiotherapy were randomly divided into four groups: modified Yangyin Qingfei decoction combined with nutritional intervention group (group A, n=30), modified Yangyin Qingfei decoction group (group B, n=30), intervention group (group C, n=30) and radiotherapy group (group D, n=30). All groups were observed for 11-13 weeks. (1) The biochemical indexes of four groups before, during(DT=40 Gy) and after(DT=70 Gy) radiotherapy were detected; (2) The incidence and degree of malnutrition were observed at the three time points above; (3) The therapeutic effects of four groups at the end of radiotherapy and one month after radiotherapy were evaluated. Results (1) There were significant differences in the average levels of ALB, PAB, TRF, LC at DT=40 Gy and 70 Gy among four groups(P < 0.05); (2) There were significant differences in the incidence of malnutrition at DT=40 Gy and 70 Gy among four groups(P < 0.05); (3) There was statistical significance in disease remission rate among four groups at one month after radiotherapy(96.67% vs. 93.33% vs. 93.33% vs. 89.66%, all P < 0.01). Conclusion Modified Yangyin Qingfei decoction combined with nutritional intervention could improve the nutritional status and biochemical indexes of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients receiving radiotherapy, and ensure the progress and efficacy of radiotherapy.

BACKGROUND: Interest in modifiable risk factors (MRFs) for dementia is high, given the personal, social, and economic impact of the disorder, especially in ageing societies such as the United Kingdom. Exploring the population attributable fraction (PAF) of dementia attributable to MRFs and how this may have changed over time remains unclear. Unravelling the temporal dynamics of MRFs is crucial for informing the development of evidence-based and effective public health policies. This investigation examined the temporal trajectories of MRFs for dementia in England. METHODS: We used data from the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing, a panel study over eight waves collected between 2004 and 2019 (76,904 interviews in total). We calculated the PAFs for twelve MRFs (including six early- to mid-life factors and six late-life factors), as recommended by the Lancet Commission, and the individual weighted PAFs (IW-PAFs) for each risk factor. Temporal trends were analysed to understand the changes in the overall PAF and IW-PAF over the study period. Subgroup analyses were conducted by sex and socioeconomic status (SES). RESULTS: The overall PAF for dementia MRFs changed from 46.73% in 2004/2005 to 36.79% in 2018/2019, though this trend was not statistically significant. During 2004-2019, hypertension, with an average IW-PAF of 8.21%, was the primary modifiable determinant of dementia, followed by obesity (6.16%), social isolation (5.61%), hearing loss (4.81%), depression (4.72%), low education (4.63%), physical inactivity (3.26%), diabetes mellitus (2.49%), smoking (2.0%), excessive alcohol consumption (1.16%), air pollution (0.42%), and traumatic brain injury (TBI) (0.26%). During 2004-2019, only IW-PAFs of low education, social isolation, and smoking showed significant decreasing trends, while IW-PAFs of other factors either did not change significantly or increased (including TBI, diabetes mellitus, and air pollution). Upon sex-specific disaggregation, a higher overall PAF for MRFs was found among women, predominantly associated with later-life risk factors, most notably social isolation, depression, and physical inactivity. Additionally, hearing loss, classified as an early- to mid-life factor, played a supplementary role in the identified sex disparity. A comparable discrepancy was evident upon PAF evaluation by SES, with lower income groups experiencing a higher dementia risk, largely tied to later-life factors such as social isolation, physical inactivity, depression, and smoking. Early- to mid-life factors, in particular, low education and obesity, were also observed to contribute to the SES-associated divergence in dementia risk. Temporal PAF and IW-PAF trends, stratified by sex and SES, revealed that MRF PAF gaps across sex or SES categories have persisted or increased. CONCLUSIONS: In England, there was little change over time in the proportion of dementia attributable to known modifiable risk factors. The observed trends underscore the continuing relevance of these risk factors and the need for targeted public health strategies to address them.

Tungsten smelting slag is an important secondary resource, it contains tungsten, tin, tantalum, niobium, scandium, and other useful metals, which have great recycling value. However, tungsten smelting slag is a solid waste that can cause groundwater and soil pollution. Further, the progress of the comprehensive recovery and utilization of tungsten smelting slag was reviewed. The process of wolframite and scheelite smelting, the recovery process theories of tin, tantalum, niobium, and scandium, and the reduction of tungsten smelting slag were also presented. Tungsten and tin can be recovered by gravity separation and flotation, which is followed by smelting. This process is easy in case of industrial applications, and the cost is low, however the adaptability is poor, and fine materials cannot be effectively recycled. Tungsten, tin, tantalum, niobium, and scandium can be recovered by hydrometallurgy, which is a complex process that considerably influences the environment. Tungsten smelting reduction is a fundamental requirement for the comprehensive utilization of slag, which is mainly used to manufacture the cement materials, porous materials, and microcrystalline glass.This study introduced the current research status, identifies problems, and provides suggestions for future research. The bottleneck of scandium, tantalum, and niobium extractions depends on the development of an extractant and ion exchange resin. The first principle and chemical coordination theory from the field of materials and chemistry can be used to solve the problem, including poor selectivity of extractant, low exchange capacity of ion exchange resin and large quantity of waste water. Strong selective extractant and ion exchange resin with high exchange capacity will be studied to solve above problems. The interaction mechanism is investigated based on the atomic level, and the efficient extraction agent and ion exchange resin are selected. Future research may be related to the development of a green extraction technology and a short process to produce slag from high value materials.

Objective To determine the effects of δ-tocotrienol on the proliferation of cervical carcinoma HeLa cells and whether miR-34a is involved in this process. Methods The expression of miR-34a and proliferation-related genes, cell viability, the protein levels of proliferation-related genes and cell cycle were examined using Real-time PCR, CCK-8 assay, Western blot and flow cytometry, respectively. miR-34a mimics and inhibitors were used to determine whether miR-34a mediated the effects of δ-tocotrienol on cell proliferation. Results δ-tocotrienol treatment for 36h significantly decreased the viability of HeLa cells in a dose-dependent manner. δ-tocotrienol treatment at 20 μmol/L-1 for 36h significantly stimulated miR-34a expression, however, inhibited CCND1 expression; meanwhile, cells proportion in S phase was decreased. Besides, after miR-34a mimics transfection, the cell viability and CCND1 expression were also decreased. Furthermore, miR-34a inhibitor transfection attenuated the inhibitory effects of δ-tocotrienol on cell proliferation. Conclusion δ-tocotrienol inhibits the proliferation of cervical carcinoma cells through upregulating miR-34a expression.
