Economic inclusion programs have become a key feature of national social protection systems globally and a large and growing body of evidence suggests that economic inclusion programming can increase the incomes and resilience of people living in extreme poverty. As a result, there is strong operational demand to better understand the cost drivers, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability of EI programs, including how these interventions interact with other services targeting the poor. The unique design and institutional characteristics of EI programs makes costing them both more challenging and more important than it is for traditional safety net programs. Cost analysis of these programs can provide valuable information for designing, planning, and evaluating programs. Without a robust understanding of the drivers of program costs, policymakers lack the information required to make decisions about which interventions to pursue, replicate, or scale up. Decision-makers tend to focus on the “sticker price” of a program—such as the average cost per participant—without recognizing the relevant aspects required to contextualize and interpret cost estimates. Sticker prices do not fully capture value for money, longer-term impacts, or sustainability. This note provides a standardized approach to costing EI programs using the Quick Costing Tool from the Partnership for Economic Inclusion. It offers guidance to programs teams on how to perform costing analysis, highlighting the operational relevance of cost data. It includes three case studies that describe how the tool has been applied to real-world EI programs and reviews the implications of this work for EI programming.

Type-2 Diabetes (T2D) is characterized by insulin resistance and accompanied by psychiatric comorbidities including major depressive disorders (MDD). Patients with T2D are twice more likely to suffer from MDD and clinical studies have shown that insulin resistance is positively correlated with the severity of depressive symptoms. However, the potential contribution of central insulin signaling in MDD in patients with T2D remains elusive. Here we hypothesized that insulin modulates the serotonergic (5-HT) system to control emotional behavior and that insulin resistance in 5-HT neurons contributes to the development of mood disorders in T2D. Descending control from the brain to the spinal cord shapes our pain experience, ranging from powerful analgesia to extreme sensitivity. Increasing evidence from both preclinical and clinical studies points to an imbalance toward descending facilitation as a substrate of pathological pain, but the underlying mechanisms remain unknown. We used an optogenetic approach to manipulate serotonin (5-HT) neurons of the nucleus raphe magnus that project to the dorsal horn of the spinal cord. We found that 5-HT neurons exert an analgesic action in naïve mice that becomes proalgesic in an experimental model of neuropathic pain. We show that spinal KCC2 hypofunction turns this descending inhibitory control into paradoxical facilitation; KCC2 enhancers restored 5-HT–mediated descending inhibition and analgesia. Last, combining selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) with a KCC2 enhancer yields effective analgesia against nerve injury–induced pain hypersensitivity. This uncovers a previously unidentified therapeutic path for SSRIs against neuropathic pain.

El objetivo de esta investigación, es conocer el impacto del teletrabajo en la gestión del recurso humano de una empresa peruana, dentro del contexto de la actual crisis ocasionada por la pandemia del COVID-19, buscando desde lo teórico, una asociación entre los beneficios y dificultades de la modalidad del teletrabajo, con la experiencia de los jefes, gerentes y/o directivos en su gestión administrativa del recurso humano. Se desarrolló una investigación cualitativa, con el propósito de examinar cómo los gerentes y jefes de la empresa, perciben y experimentan la nueva modalidad laboral adoptada. Se utilizó un enfoque semiestructurado, con entrevistas a nueve gerentes/jefes, abarcando las categorías: control sobre el teletrabajador, desconfianza por falta de supervisión, incertidumbre de la nueva modalidad, medición del desempeño de la nueva modalidad, resistencia al cambio, seguridad de la información, selección del personal y trabajo en equipo. La investigación concluye que la modalidad del teletrabajo sería aceptada por todos los gerentes y jefes de la empresa, quienes estarían dispuestos a darle continuidad en un futuro fuera del actual contexto. Del mismo modo, se recomienda el desarrollo de futuros estudios que amplíen, complementen o validen los resultados obtenidos. Tesis

Syftet med den här forskningsrapporten är att beskriva hur folkhögskolans livskunskapskurser kan hjälpa deltagare med långvarig psykisk ohälsa till återhämtning, rehabilitering och habilitering. Studiens datainsamling omfattar nio dagars deltagande observation i kurserna på folkhögskolan kombinerat med tolv semistrukturerade livsvärldsintervjuer och fyra fokusgruppsamtal. Totalt ingår 22 deltagare, sex lärare och rektor på folkhögskolan. I resultatet beskrivs nio teman: (i) Varför är jag här?; (ii) Ett meningsfullt socialt sammanhang; (iii) Rutiner och struktur i tillvaron; (iv) Att fungera bättre i vardagen; (v) Självmedvetenhet genom kommunikationsmodeller; (vi) Skapande som rehabilitering; (vii) Vidgade möjlighetshorisonter; (viii) Saker som kan förbättras i utbildningarna enligt deltagarna; (ix) Lärarnas och rektors pedagogiska utgångspunkter. Slutsatsen är att folkhögskolan bidrar till ett begripligt, hanterbart och meningsfullt socialt sammanhang och att livskunskapskurserna hjälper deltagarna att fungera bättre i vardagen och tillsammans med andra. Genom kursinslag, som tillexempel att lära sig själv medkänsla och Nonviolent communication – en kommunikationsmodell, beskriver deltagarna att de blir mer medvetna om sig själva och sin omgivning. Kursdeltagarna berättar att livskunskapskurserna har ökat deras välbefinnande i nuet och att de har fått ett framtidshopp. Vi kan se att deltagarnas negativa uppfattningar om sig själva minskar i folkhögskolans trygga miljö och i hemmet. Vad gäller att fungera i andra miljöer utanför folkhögskolan så beskriver deltagarna en avsaknad av möjligheter. Det finns en önskan hos deltagare att få möjlighet att till exempel arbetsträna eller arbeta med något projekt utanför folkhögskolan. Lärarna beskriver att det viktigaste i kurserna är att utgå ifrån deltagarnas individuella behov. Detta beskrivs vara ganska svårt eftersom det idag är betydligt vanligare att deltagare har flera olika svårigheter att hantera. Exempel på detta är att en stor andel av deltagarna har neuropsykiatriska diagnoser, social fobi, utmattningssyndrom och depressioner. Det viktigaste enligt lärarna initialt är att lyckas forma deltagargrupper där alla accepterar varandra och upplever sig trygga.

Durante la época de pandemia, el consumo de los servicios de streaming se incrementó durante la cuarentena impuesta a nivel mundial. Desde portales de entretenimiento como Twitch o YouTube hasta plataformas de contenido audiovisual como Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max, entre otros, tuvieron un aumento considerable en sus suscripciones. Dentro de toda esa oferta de contenidos, son, en muchos casos, las de corte dramático las que generan mayores números ubicándose siempre en los Top 10 de las diversas plataformas.Por esa razón, hemos decidimos crear una escena que califique dentro del género melodrama. El presente trabajo de suficiencia profesional describe el proceso de creación, producción, realización y postproducción del cortometraje “Adriano”, el cual cuenta la historia de Daniela, una madre que tiene un hijo con discapacidad visual y un esposo, Alejandro, con un trabajo que lo mantiene alejado del país, al que le pide que renuncie y se quede a vivir con ellos. El propósito de este trabajo es que en esta única escena se cierre un conflicto entre los personajes y que cumpla con los requisitos que podrían ser solicitados por alguna empresa productora para su difusión en distintas plataformas audiovisuales de streaming. During the pandemic, the demand of streaming services incremented due to the lockdowns that took place globally. All the way from entertainment sites like YouTube or Twitch up until series and movie platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max, among others. Inside this vast content offer, in most cases drama based productions are the ones that generate the best numbers positioning themselves on the Top 10 on every platform. Getting knowledge of the information we decided to create a scene that qualifies inside the melodrama genre. On this professional subject of sufficiency we describe the process of creation, production, shooting and postproduction of the short film “Adriano”. This is the story of Daniela, mother of a 2 year old blind kid and wife to Alejandro, a man that spends most of his time out of the country because of his job. Due to his constant absence in his son’s life, Daniela must ask Alejandro to leave his job and stay at Lima with them for good as he is offered a permanent job in Boston. The purpose of this assignment is to develop a unique scene in which this conflict between our 2 protagonists must come to an end and, as well, fulfill all the requirements that may be solicited by any production company for its release at any streaming service.

El presente trabajo de investigación denominado, “Gestión de mantenimiento y eficacia del recurso humano en el proyecto especial para la gestión de tránsito en Lima-2021” tiene como objetivo general, determinar la relación entre la Gestión de mantenimiento y la eficacia del Recurso Humano en el proyecto especial para la gestión de tránsito en Lima. En el aspecto metodológico corresponde al tipo de investigación correlacional, diseño No experimental, la muestra estuvo conformado por 78 trabajadores del equipo de ejecución, implementación y mantenimiento de Protransito. En la obtención de los datos se utilizaron dos cuestionarios, uno para evaluar la gestión de mantenimiento y otro para la eficacia del recurso humano. Los dos cuestionarios fueron evaluados mediante validez de contenido de constructo y la confiabilidad mediante el coeficiente Alfa de Cronbach. La técnica utilizada fue un censo que permitió recabar los datos mediante las encuestas. Los resultados evidenciaron una muy alta correlación entre las variables (rho=0.973) con un valor Sig.= 0.000, siendo menor al nivel de significancia, que conllevo al rechazo de la hipótesis nula y la aceptación de la hipótesis general de la investigación. BackgroundTelomerase-negative cells have limited proliferation potential. In these cells, telomeres shorten until they reach a critical length and induce a permanently arrested state. This process called replicative senescence is associated with genomic instability and participates in tissue and organismal ageing. Experimental data using single-cell approaches in the budding yeast model organism show that telomerase-negative cells often experience abnormally long cell cycles, which can be followed by cell cycles of normal duration, before reaching the terminal senescent state. These series of non-terminal cell cycle arrests contribute to the heterogeneity of senescence and likely magnify its genomic instability. Due to their apparent stochastic nature, investigating the dynamics and the molecular origins of these arrests has been difficult. In particular, whether the non-terminal arrests series stem from a mechanism similar to the one that triggers terminal senescence is not known.ResultsHere, we provide a mathematical description of sequences of non-terminal arrests to understand how they appear. We take advantage of an experimental data set of cell cycle duration measurements performed in individual telomerase-negative yeast cells that keep track of the number of generations since telomerase inactivation. Using numerical simulations, we show that the occurrence of non-terminal arrests is a generation-dependent process that can be explained by the shortest telomere reaching a probabilistic threshold length. While the onset of senescence is also triggered by telomere shortening, we highlight differences in the laws that describe the number of consecutive arrests in non-terminal arrests compared to senescence arrests, suggesting distinct underlying mechanisms and cellular states.ConclusionsReplicative senescence is a complex process that affects cell divisions earlier than anticipated, as exemplified by the frequent occurrence of non-terminal arrests early after telomerase inactivation. The present work unravels two kinetically and mechanistically distinct generation-dependent processes underlying non-terminal and terminal senescence arrests. We suggest that these two processes are responsible for two consequences of senescence at the population level, the increase of genome instability on the one hand, and the limitation of proliferation capacity on the other hand.
