Apical periodontitis (AP) is a disease caused by pathogenic microorganisms and featured with the degradation of periapical hard tissue. Our recent research showed the crucial role of Z-DNA binding protein 1 (ZBP1)-mediated necroptosis and apoptosis in the pathogenesis of AP. However, the specific regulatory mechanisms of ZBP1 in AP are not fully elucidated. It was found that metformin has a regulatory role in cell necroptosis and apoptosis. But whether and how metformin regulates necroptosis and apoptosis through the ZBP1 in the context of AP remains unknown. This study provided evidence that lipopolysaccharide (LPS) promotes the synthesis of left-handed Z-nucleic acids (Z-NA), which in turn activates ZBP1. Knockout of Zbp1 by CRISPR/Cas9 technology significantly reduced LPS-induced necroptosis and apoptosis in vitro. By using Zbp1-knockout mice, periapical bone destruction was alleviated. Moreover, type I interferon induced the expression of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs), which serve as a major source of Z-NA. In addition, the RNA-editing enzyme Adenosine Deaminase RNA specific 1 (ADAR1) prevented the accumulation of endogenous Z-NA. Meanwhile, metformin suppressed the ZBP1-mediated necroptosis by inhibiting the expression of ZBP1 and the accumulation of ISGs. Metformin also promoted mitochondrial apoptosis, which is critical for the elimination of intracellular bacterial infection. The enhanced apoptosis further promoted the healing of infected apical bone tissues. In summary, these results demonstrated that the recognition of Z-NA by ZBP1 plays an important role in AP pathogenesis. The penetration of new energy sources such as wind power is increasing, which consequently increases the occurrence rate of subsynchronous oscillation events. However, existing subsynchronous oscillation source-identification methods primarily analyze fixed-mode oscillations and rarely consider time-varying features, such as frequency drift, caused by the random volatility of wind farms when oscillations occur. This paper proposes a subsynchronous oscillation sourcelocalization method that involves an enhanced short-time Fourier transform and a convolutional neural network (CNN). First, an enhanced STFT is performed to secure high-resolution time-frequency distribution (TFD) images from the measured data of the generation unit ports. Next, these TFD images are amalgamated to form a subsynchronous oscillation feature map that serves as input to the CNN to train the localization model. Ultimately, the trained CNN model realizes the online localization of subsynchronous oscillation sources. The effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed method are validated via multimachine system models simulating forced and natural oscillation events using the Power Systems Computer Aided Design platform. Test results show that the proposed method can localize subsynchronous oscillation sources online while considering unpredictable fluctuations in wind farms, thus providing a foundation for oscillation suppression in practical engineering scenarios. Purpose: We have developed a bone-dedicated collimator with higher sensitivity but slightly degraded resolution on single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) for planar bone scintigraphy, compared with conventional low-energy high-resolution collimator. In this work, we investigated the feasibility of using the blind deconvolution algorithm to improve the resolution of planar images on bone scintigraphy. Materials and Methods: Monte Carlo simulation was performed with the NCAT phantom for modeling bone scintigraphy on the clinical dual-head SPECT scanner (Imagine NET 632, Beijing Novel Medical Equipment Ltd.) equipped with the bone-dedicated collimator. Maximum likelihood estimation method was used for the blind deconvolution algorithm. The initial estimation of point spread function (PSF) and iteration number for the method were determined by comparing the deblurred images obtained from different input parameters. We simulated different tumors in five different locations and with five different diameters to evaluate the robustness of the initial inputs. Furthermore, we performed chest phantom studies on the clinical SPECT scanner. The quantified increased contrast ratio (CR) between the tumor and the background was evaluated. Results: The 2 mm PSF kernel and 10 iterations provided a practical and robust deblurred image on our system. Those two inputs can generate robust deblurred images in terms of the tumor location and size with an average increased CR of 21.6%. The phantom studies also demonstrated the ability of blind deconvolution, using those two inputs, with increased CRs of 17%, 17%, 22%, 20%, and 13% for lesions with diameters of 1 cm, 2 cm, 3 cm, 4 cm, and 5 cm, respectively. Conclusions: It is feasible to use the blind deconvolution algorithm to deblur the planar images for SPECT bone scintigraphy. Purpose: This study aimed to explore the application of Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System Ultrasound (O-RADS US) combined with MV-Flow (Samsung Medison Co., Ltd.) to diagnose ovarian-adnexal masses. Methods: A total of 112 ovarian-adnexal masses (81 benign and 31 malignant) from 105 consecutive patients were analyzed. The O-RADS US and vascular index from MV-Flow (VIMV) were measured and compared with the reference standard. O-RADS US and MV-Flow were tested for consistency. Results: Receiver operating characteristic curves were drawn for O-RADS US, MV-Flow, and their combination. The combined methods had the largest area under the curve (0.955), followed by O-RADS US (0.929) and MV-Flow (0.923). A mass was considered malignant when the O-RADS US classification was 5 and VIMV was ≥7.15. With this definition, MV-Flow had the highest sensitivity (87.10%), with consistent findings for the combined diagnostic methods and O-RADS US (83.87%). The specificity of the combined diagnostic methods (93.83%) was higher than that of MV-Flow (91.36%). O-RADS US had the lowest specificity (90.12%). The combined diagnostic methods had the highest coincidence rate (91.07%), and MV-Flow (90.18%) had a significantly higher coincidence rate than O-RADS US (88.39%). Both O-RADS US and MV-Flow showed good consistency among different physicians (former kappa, 0.974; latter intraclass correlation coefficient [ICC], 0.986). MV-Flow had a high consistency for the same physician (ICC, 1). Conclusion: O-RADS US and MV-Flow exhibited good diagnostic efficacy, and their combined diagnostic efficacy was higher than that of each individually. Background: Hemodialysis is the most common therapy for managing patients with end-stage renal disease. Depression is one of the most common psychological problems faced by dialysis patients, and there is limited research on the influences of religion and spirituality on dialysis patients. Purpose: This study was designed to compare religion and spiritual health status between hemodialysis patients with and without depressive symptoms. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted on 137 hemodialysis patients living in Taiwan. The self-report instruments used included the Religious Beliefs Scale, Spiritual Health Scale-Short Form, and Beck Depression Inventory-II. Data were analyzed using t test, chi-square test, point-biserial correlation of variance, and logistic regression. Results: Most (63.5%) of the participants were classified with depression, of which most were male (70.1%), older (mean = 62.56 years), and unemployed (73.6%) and had less formal education. Fifty-two of the participants with depression had a 1- to 5-year duration of hemodialysis, whereas the nondepressed group had a higher mean score for number of religious activities, positive religious beliefs, and total score for spiritual health. Logistic regression showed an increased odds ratio (OR) of depression for participants with a duration of hemodialysis of 1–5 years (OR = 3.64, 95% CI [1.01, 13.15]). Participants with higher scores for spiritual health had a lower risk of depression (OR = 0.82, 95% CI [0.75, 0.90]), indicating a positive association between spiritual health and lower depression risk. Conclusions/Implications for Practice: The prevalence rate of depression in hemodialysis patients is higher than that in the general population. Providing screenings for spiritual health and depression as part of routine medical care for hemodialysis patients is recommended to detect spiritual distress and depression early. Introduction: Stroke is a major noninfectious disease that endangers patients' health. About 83% of patients have some degree of balance dysfunction. Rehabilitation training is an effective means to improve the balance function of stroke patients. The aim of this meta-analysis was to assess which of the eight rehabilitation training methods was more effective in promoting balance recovery. Material and methods: Eight studies of rehabilitation training to improve balance function in stroke patients were searched in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang, and VIP databases. Data extraction was carried out by two independent researchers. The improvement in balance function included in the study was measured using the Berg Balance Scale (BBS). A random effects model was used to assess the mean difference in these values between patients who received different rehabilitation training and controls. Results: A total of 46 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were included, including 3741 patients. Meta-analysis results showed that the clinical effectiveness in promoting balance recovery in stroke patients was ranked as follows: core stability training (odds ratio (OR) = 14.98, 95% confidence interval (CI): 8.18-27.44) > whole-body vibration training (OR = 10.27, 95% CI: 4.36-24.18) > mirror therapy (OR = 5.15, 95% CI: 2.40-11.04). The magnification effect provided by gravitational lensing overcomes the limitations of current observation instruments, allowing researchers to study faint objects at high redshift (z ≈ 4). Over the last decades, the sample of strong lenses has been mostly confined to optical bands. With the advent of (sub)millimeter wide field extragalactic surveys, about 200 strong lenses have been discovered in (sub)millimeter bands. Observations with high resolution and sensitivity from ALMA, NOEMA, and SMA, coupled with the flux boost from strong lensing, provide new windows to study galaxies at high redshift. Many works have investigated topics such as star formation, interstellar medium, and dynamic properties. The main objective of this paper is to review the current research status of galaxy-galaxy lensing in (sub)millimeter bands from the perspectives of observation samples, modeling methods, and scientific applications. Direct seeding is a more cost-effective method for plant community restoration than transplanting pot-grown plants, but this method is not applicable to all plant species and all regions. To evaluate the effectiveness of direct seeding to restore mined cold desert vegetation without irrigation, Atraphaxis frutescens (L.) Ewersm., Calligonum junceum (Fisch. et Mey.) Litv., Peganum harmala L., and Seriphydium gracilescens (Krasch. et Iljin) Poljak. were directly sown in the bottom of dry furrows and on a flat site in the mined wasteland before the second snowfall in late autumn. Seedling emergence, survival, and growth were monitored for 3 years. For the four species, cumulative seed germination in the furrows ranged from 6.4 to 23.6% and the highest germination was 23.0 and 23.6% for A. frutescens and C. junceum, respectively. Survival at the end of 3 years was 7.0–56.1% for the four species. In the flat area, cumulative seedling emergence for C. junceum, A. frutescens, P. harmala, and S. gracilescens was 0, 0, 0.7, and 1.4%, respectively, and all seedlings died with the onset of drought. Thus, under natural precipitation conditions, the success of direct seeding depends on the microsite and species. We conclude that direct seeding can be an effective method for establishing the shrubs A. frutescens and C. junceum in mined wasteland if seeds are sown in furrows that have been created across the landscape. OBJECTIVE: We performed this meta-analysis determining the antihypertensive effect of telmisartan versus perindopril in patients with essential hypertension. BACKGROUND: The comparison of antihypertensive effects between telmisartan and perindopril were controversial. METHODS: Pubmed, Web of Science, and Cochrane Central were searched for all published studies. RESULTS: The antihypertensive effects were assessed in 753 patients included in 7 trials with a mean follow-up of 20 ± 16 weeks. There was no significant difference between telmisartan and perindopril in reduction of systolic blood pressure (SBP, weighted mean differences (WMD) 0.02 (95% confidence interval (CI), -2.78, 2.81) mmHg, p > 0.05). The reduction of diastolic BP (DBP) treated with telmisartan was greater than perindopril in these patients (WMD -2.05 (95% CI, -2.60, -1.49) mm Hg, p < 0.001). Considering the effects of different doses on BP reduction, a sub-analysis was performed. The reduction of DBP treated with 40 mg/day telmisartan was greater than 4-5 mg/day perindopril (WMD -2.18 (95% CI, -2.83, -1.53) mmHg, p < 0.001). There was no difference for SBP reduction treated with 40 mg/day telmisartan or 4-5 mg/day perindopril (p > 0.05). Microvascular basement membrane (BM) plays a pivotal role in the interactions of astrocyte with endothelium to maintain the blood-brain barrier (BBB) homeostasis; however, the significance and precise regulation of the endothelial cell-derived BM component in the BBB remain incompletely understood. Here, we report that conditional knockout of Atg7 in endothelial cells (Atg7-ECKO) leads to astrocyte-microvascular disassociation in the brain. Our results reveal astrocytic endfeet detachment from microvessels and BBB leakage in Atg7-ECKO mice. Furthermore, we find that the absence of endothelial Atg7 downregulates the expression of fibronectin, a major BM component of the BBB, causing significantly reduced coverage of astrocytes along cerebral microvessels. We reveal Atg7 triggers the expression of endothelial fibronectin via regulating PKA activity to affect the phosphorylation of cAMP-responsive element-binding protein. These results suggest that Atg7-regulated endothelial fibronectin production is required for astrocytes adhesion to microvascular wall for maintaining the BBB homeostasis. Objective: Rare disease. Background: Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is an aggressive neuroendocrine malignancy that has increased in incidence in recent decades. The management of MCC should involve multidisciplinary experts to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Radiotherapy is commonly used as adjuvant therapy. Our literature review of MCC indicates that aggressive adjuvant radiotherapy might have a positive impact on overall local control and survival. Case Reports: The first case is a 75-year-old male patient who discovered a right preauricular mass 2 weeks prior. He underwent right parotidectomy with tumor removal on 2012/07/09, and pathology revealed MCC in 3 lymph nodes. The patient received postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy (61.2 Gy) to the remaining right parotid tumor bed and right neck lymph nodes. The patient refused adjuvant chemotherapy. During long-term follow-up, the patient remained disease free for 10 years. The other case is a 73-year-old female patient with metastatic MCC in a left parotid lymph node. She also underwent left parotidectomy with tumor removal, and pathological staging performed according to the 8th edition of the AJCC staging system showed pTxN1aMx, stage IIIA. After the operation, she received postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy (56 Gy) to the remaining left parotid and left neck lymph nodes. The patient remained disease free for 14 months. Conclusions: Metastatic MCC of the parotid lymph nodes without a detectable primary skin tumor is very rare. Adjuvant radiotherapy to the tumor bed and regional nodal basin might be beneficial for preventing disease recurrence despite the absence of systemic medical therapy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: To determine the effect size of observed factors considering trigger factors based on parallel-serial models and to explore how multiple factors can be related to the result of complex events for low-probability events with binary outcomes. Methods: A low-probability event with a true binary outcome can be explained by a trigger factor. The models were based on the parallel-serial connection of switches; causal factors, including trigger factors, were simplified as switches. Effect size values of an observed factor for an outcome were calculated as SAR = (Pe-Pn)/(Pe + Pn), where Pe and Pn represent percentages in the exposed and nonexposed groups, respectively, and SAR represents standardized absolute risk. The influence of trigger factors is eliminated by SAR. Actual data were collected to obtain a deeper understanding of the system. Results: SAR values of < 0.25, 0.25–0.50, and > 0.50 indicate low, medium, and high effect sizes, respectively. The system of data visualization based on the parallel-serial connection model revealed that at least 7 predictors with SAR > 0.50, including a trigger factor, were needed to predict schizophrenia. The SAR of the HLADQB1*03 gene was 0.22 for schizophrenia. Conclusions: It is likely that the trigger factors and observed factors had a cumulative effect, as indicated by the parallel-serial connection model for binary outcomes. SAR may allow better evaluation of the effect size of a factor in complex events by eliminating the influence of trigger factors. Pursuits of new types of Pb-free heterometallic halides adequate for photovoltaic applications are still urgent but challenging. In this study, by using in situ-produced [(Me)2-(DABCO)]2+ (DABCO = 1,4-diazabicyclo[ 2.2.2]octane; Me = methyl) cations as structure-directing agents, we successfully constructed a nonperovskite copper iodobismuthate hybrid, namely [(Me)2-(DABCO)]2Cu2Bi2I12 (1), which features discrete [Cu2Bi2I12]4- anionic moieties formed by the building units of [CuI4] tetrahedra and [BiI6] octahedra. UV-Vis diffuse reflectance analyses showed that compound 1 possesses semiconductive behaviors with a narrow optical bandgap of 1.80 eV. More importantly, it exhibits excellent photoelectric switching abilities, and its photocurrent density (2.30 µA cm-2) far exceeds those of some high-performance halide-based counterparts. Different from many heterometallic analogues, noteworthily, it also has dispersive band structure and strong electronic coupling near the Fermi level, resulting in a material with small effective masses that may be responsible for the good photoelectricity. For self-driving agricultural vehicles, the sensing of the headland environment based on image recognition is an important technological aspect. Cropland headland environments are complex and diverse. Traditional image feature extraction methods have many limitations. This study proposed a method of automatic cropland headland image recognition based on deep learning. Based on the characteristics of cropland headland environments and practical application needs, a dataset was constructed containing six categories of annotated cropland headland images and an augmented headland image training set was used to train the compact network MobileNetV2. Under the same experimental conditions, the model prediction accuracy for the first ranked category in all the results (Top-1 accuracy) of the MobileNetV2 network on the validation set was 98.5%. Compared with classic ResNetV2-50, Inception-V3, and backend-compressed Inception-V3, MobileNetV2 has a high accuracy, high recognition speed, and a small memory footprint. To further test the performance of the model, 250 images were used for each of the six categories of headland images as the test set for the experiments. The average of the harmonic mean of precision and recall (F1-score) of the MobileNetV2 network for all the categories of headland images reached 97%. The MobileNetV2 network exhibits good robustness and stability. The results of this study indicate that onboard computers on self-driving agricultural vehicles are able to employ the MobileNetV2 network for headland image recognition to meet the application requirements of headland environment sensing. Cervical lymph node metastasis (CLNM) of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is directly associated with clinical management and prognosis. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the value of conventional ultrasound (US) combined with ENST00000438158 in predicting CLNM of PTC. Fourty-nine PTC patients underwent US examination and US-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA). ENST00000438158 expression in FNA cytological specimens and PTC cell lines was detected using real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The role of ENST00000438158 expression in the proliferation, migration, invasion, apoptosis, and cell cycle of PTC cells was investigated by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK8) and clone formation experiments, transwell assay, and flow cytometry, respectively. Calcification, capsule contact, and low ENST00000438158 expression were independently associated with PTC with CLNM (all p < 0.05). The combination of multiple US features was more valuable than a single US feature in predicting CLNM in PTC. Adding ENST0000438158 to US greatly improved the value of differentiation of PTC with or without CLNM. In conclusion, ENST00000438158 is a potential molecular marker for predicting CLNM in PTC. In monocropping systems autotoxins, such as phenolic compounds, could accumulate in soil and affects the soil microbial communities, however, the specific effects on microbial species are unknown. We determined the responses of cucumber rhizosphere Fusarium and Bacillus spp. communities to exogenously applied p-coumaric acid (0.02, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2 μmol/g soil) by polymerase chain reaction denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (PCR-DGGE) technique. Results showed that all concentrations of p-coumaric acid changed the community structure of Fusarium spp. and p-coumaric acid at 0.2 μmol/g soil decreased the number of bands as indicated by Shannon-Wiener and evenness index of Fusarium spp. community. However, p-coumaric acid did not affect the structure of Bacillus spp. community. These results indicated that the p-coumaric acid showed different effects on Fusarium and Bacillus spp. communities. Objectives: SET Domain Containing Protein 8 (SET8), a member of the SET domain containing methyltransferase family involved in several biological processes and SET8 expression levels, reportedly affects the outcomes of patients with breast cancer, renal cancer, prostate carcinoma, and oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma. However, there have been no relevant studies on the biofunction and use of SET8 expression in the prediction of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) outcomes. Methods: In our study, SET8 expression levels were detected using immunohistochemical staining, western blotting, and quantitative real-time RT-PCR (qRT-PCR) with semiquantitative analysis for laryngeal cancer outcomes. Additionally, we assessed the influence of SET8 on the behaviour of laryngeal cancer cells in vitro, using cell counting kit-8, clone formation, wound healing, and Transwell invasion assays. We subsequently performed qRT-PCR and western blotting for an in-depth study of SET8. Results: Our study showed marked upregulation of SET8 in tumour tissues and laryngeal cancer cell lines. High SET8 expression predicts poor prognosis in patients with LSCC, and its expression can be used as an independent predictor of LSCC outcome. Subsequent functional analyses indicated that SET8 knockdown exerted an inhibitory effect on proliferation, migration, and invasiveness in vitro. Conclusions: SET8 may be associated with epithelialmesenchymal transition. Our results demonstrate that higher SET8 expression is an unfavourable prognostic predictor and exerts tumour-promoting effects in LSCC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective Epidemiologic findings are inconsistent concerning the association between cesarean section (C-section) and celiac disease in offspring. Methods We performed a systematic literature search of PubMed and Embase databases until July 2021. A meta-analysis was performed for each outcome in which a summary odds ratio (OR) was calculated while taking heterogeneity into account. Results A total of 11 observational were identified for the literature review. We found that C-section was not associated with an increase in the risk of CD (OR = 1.03, 95% CI, 0.95–1.12; p = .501). In subgroup analyses, the association remained insignificant for both infants born after elective C-section (OR 1.05; 0.95–1.16; p = .329) and emergency C-section (OR 1.06; 1–1.13; p = .051). Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an ordinarily occurring autoimmune disease with systemic inflammatory. Targeted drug delivery systems have many successful applications in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. In order to develop nanoparticles for targeted delivery of Celastrol (Cel) to rheumatoid arthritis and specific drug release, the dextran sulfate (DS) was modified as the targeting molecular by binding to the scavenger receptor of macrophage. The dextran-sulfate-PVGLIG-celastrol (DS-PVGLIG-Cel), named DPC, amphiphilic polymeric prodrug was synthesized and characterized. The resulting DPC@Cel micelles had the average size of 189.9 nm. Moreover, the micelles had ultrahigh entrapment efficiency (about 44.04%) and zeta potential of -11.91mV. In the in vitro release study, due to the excessive production of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) at the inflammatory joint, the MMP-2 reactive peptide was used to crack in the inflammatory microenvironment to accelerate the release of Cel. The results have shown that the nanoparticles can effectively deliver Cel to activated macrophages and significantly improve the bioavailability. In vivo experiments showed that DPC@Cel have better anti-rheumatoid arthritis effects and lower systemic toxicity than free Cel. BACKGROUND: The aim of the study was to investigate the procalcitonin-to-cortisol ratio (P/C ratio) as a prognostic predictor among septic patients with abdominal source. METHODS: We retrospectively enrolled 132 post-surgery patients between 18 and 90 years old with sepsis of the abdominal source. On the second day of sepsis onset, cortisol, procalcitonin (PCT), Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II score, Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score, C-response protein (CRP), and other baseline characteristics were collected. In addition, the length of ICU stay, length of mechanical ventilation (MV) days, length of shock days, and 28-day mortality were also recorded. Univariate analysis was performed to screen potential risk factors. Stratified analysis was used to identify the interaction among the risk factors. Multivariate analysis was also utilized to demonstrate the relationship between the risk factors and mortality. The receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was conducted to evaluate the risk factors. A restricted cubic spline (RCS) demonstrated the association between survival outcome and the P/C ratio variation. RESULTS: A total of twenty-nine patients died, and 103 patients survived within 28 d. There were significant differences in cortisol, PCT, P/C ratio, interleukin (IL)-6, SOFA, and APACHE II scores between the survival and non-survival groups. No significant interaction was observed in the stratified analysis. Logistic regression analysis revealed that P/C ratio (P=0.033) was significantly related to 28-day mortality. Based on ROC curves, P/C ratio (AUC=0.919) had a higher AUC value than cortisol or PCT. RCS analysis depicted a positive relationship between survival possibility and P/C ratio decrement. Ribosome biogenesis is a fundamental and highly orchestrated process that involves hundreds of ribosome biogenesis factors. Despite advances that have been made in yeast, the molecular mechanism of ribosome biogenesis remains largely unknown in plants. We uncovered a WD40 protein, Shrunken and Embryo Defective Kernel 1 (SHREK1), and showed that it plays a crucial role in ribosome biogenesis and kernel development in maize (Zea mays). The shrek1 mutant shows an aborted embryo and underdeveloped endosperm and embryo-lethal in maize. SHREK1 localizes mainly to the nucleolus and accumulates to high levels in the seed. Depleting SHREK1 perturbs pre-rRNA processing and causes imbalanced profiles of mature rRNA and ribosome. The expression pattern of ribosomal-related genes is significantly altered in shrek1. Like its yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) ortholog Periodic tryptophan protein 1 (PWP1), SHREK1 physically interacts with ribosomal protein ZmRPL7a, a transient component of the PWP1-subcomplex involved in pre-rRNA processing in yeast. Additionally, SHREK1 may assist in the A3 cleavage of the pre-rRNA in maize by interacting with the nucleolar protein ZmPOP4, a maize homolog of the yeast RNase mitochondrial RNA-processing complex subunit. The Green Revolution of the 1960s boosted crop yields in part through widespread production of semidwarf plant cultivars and extensive use of mineral fertilizers. The beneficial semidwarfism of cereal Green Revolution cultivars is due to the accumulation of plant growth-repressing DELLA proteins, which increases lodging resistance but requires a high-nitrogen fertilizer to obtain high yield. Given that environmentally degrading fertilizer use underpins current worldwide crop production, future agricultural sustainability needs a sustainable Green Revolution through reducing N fertilizer use while boosting grain yield above what is currently achievable. Despite a great deal of research efforts, only a few genes have been demonstrated to improve N-use efficiency in crops. The molecular mechanisms underlying the coordination between plant growth and N metabolism is still not fully understood, thus preventing significant improvement. Recent advances of how plants sense, capture and respond to varying N supply in model plants have shed light on how to improve sustainable productivity in agriculture. Greater than 1.0 variance-to-mean ratios suggested that the leaf lesions of NCLB tended to be aggregated on a plant. Background and Objectives: To optimize the pretreatment method of colorectal cancer tissue samples for metabolomics research based on solid-phase nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Methods and Study Design: The mucosal tissues of colorectal cancer were classified into five groups with a volume of 0.2 cm*0.2 cm*0.2 cm. The pretreatment methods for each group were as follows: I. Preservation with liquid nitrogen alone. Samples were also treated with liquid nitrogen for 10 (II), 20 (III), and 30 min (IV), respectively, immediately after isolation and then transferred to a -80°C refrigerator; V. Only -80°C refrigerator storage. No more than 30 minutes should pass between isolation and pretreatment of tumor samples. The tissue sample testing process was carried out on Bruker AVII-600 NMR Spectrometer. NMR signals were collected and analysed using partial least-squares discrimination analysis (PLS-DA) to explore the effects of different pretreatment methods on the metabolic changes of samples. Results: The levels of pelargonic acid, stearic acid, D-Ribose, heptadecanoic acid, pyruvic acid, succinate, sarcosine, glycine, creatine, and L-lactate in the group I (only liquid nitrogen) were significantly lower than the other groups (p<0.05); the content of glycerophosphocholine in the group I (only liquid nitrogen) was lower than that in the other groups (p=0.055). These indicated that the glucose and choline phospholipid metabolism levels of the liquid nitrogen group were significantly lower than those of the other four groups. Conclusions: Liquid nitrogen storage can stop the metabolic process of glucose and choline phospholipid in colorectal cancer tissue samples in vitro, thus maintaining the metabolic state of tissue samples in vivo as much as possible. Wheat production is seriously influenced by extreme hot weather, which has attracted increasing attention. It is important to compare wheat responses to heat at seedling and reproductive stages, to explore the potential relationship between the performances at different growing stages and the possibility of early selection to accelerate heat tolerance breeding. In this study, forty wheat genotypes were screened under heat stress at both seedling and adult stages. It was found that root lengths at seedling stage were severely reduced by heat stress with significant variations among wheat genotypes. Heat-tolerant genotypes at seedling stage showed less root length decrease than susceptible ones. Wheat genotypes tolerant at seedling stage showed higher yield at adult stage after heat treatment. The performances of wheat genotypes screened under heat stress at seedling and adult stages were ranked by seedling damage index and adult damage index. A significant positive relationship was found between heat tolerance at seedling stage and at adult stage (r = 0.6930), suggesting a similar tolerant/susceptible mechanism at different plant growth stages and the possibility of early selection at seedling stage for breeding heat tolerance. Brain enriched voltage-gated sodium channel (VGSC) Nav1.2 and Nav1.6 are critical for electrical signaling in the CNS. Previous studies have extensively characterized cell-type-specific expression and electrophysiological properties of these two VGSCs and how their differences contribute to fine-tuning of neuronal excitability. However, because of a lack of reliable labeling and imaging methods, the subcellular localization and dynamics of these homologous Nav1.2 and Nav1.6 channels remain understudied. To overcome this challenge, we combined genome editing, super-resolution, and live-cell single-molecule imaging to probe subcellular composition, relative abundances, and trafficking dynamics of Nav1.2 and Nav1.6 in cultured mouse and rat neurons and in male and female mouse brain. We discovered a previously uncharacterized trafficking pathway that targets Nav1.2 to the distal axon of unmyelinated neurons. This pathway uses distinct signals residing in the intracellular loop 1 between transmembrane domain I and II to suppress the retention of Nav1.2 in the axon initial segment and facilitate its membrane loading at the distal axon. As mouse pyramidal neurons undergo myelination, Nav1.2 is gradually excluded from the distal axon as Nav1.6 becomes the dominant VGSC in the axon initial segment and nodes of Ranvier. In addition, we revealed exquisite developmental regulation of Nav1.2 and Nav1.6 localizations in the axon initial segment and dendrites, clarifying the molecular identity of sodium channels in these subcellular compartments. Together, these results unveiled compartment-specific localizations and trafficking mechanisms for VGSCs, which could be regulated separately to modulate membrane excitability in the brain. The INK4 family is an important family of cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors (CDKIs) and consists of CDKN2A, CDKN2B, CDKN2, and CDKN2D. Abnormal expression of CDKN2A has been reported in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and is associated with the prognosis of patients and infiltration of immune cells. However, there is a lack of systematic research on the roles of the other INK4 family members in the diagnosis, prognosis, and immune regulation of HCC. Using online public databases and clinical samples, we comprehensively analyzed the INK4 family in HCC. All four INK4 proteins were overexpressed in HCC and correlated with advanced cancer stage and poor prognosis. INK4 expression accurately distinguished tumor from normal tissue, particularly CDKN2A and CDKN2C. The INK4 family participated in cell-cycle regulation and the DNA damage repair pathway, which inhibited genotoxic-induced apoptosis in tumorigenesis. INK4 proteins were positively correlated with the infiltration of immune cells (B cells, CD8+ T cells, CD4+ T cells, macrophages, neutrophils, and dendritic cells) and immune checkpoints (CTLA-4, PD1, and PD-L1). CDKN2D had the highest correlation (correlation coefficient >0.3) with all the above-mentioned infiltrating immune cells and immune checkpoints, indicating that it may be useful as an immunotherapy target. China plans to establish a lunar orbital VLBI (Very Long Baseline Interferometer) station around 2025, which will carry a space passive hydrogen maser as the time and frequency reference. Since it is the first time to use a space passive hydrogen maser for VLBI observation, its feasibility needs to be studied and verified. Therefore, we carried out VLBI observations using the space passive hydrogen maser as the frequency reference. In the experiment, the active hydrogen atomic clock and space passive hydrogen maser were used as the frequency standard, and the alternate VLBI observations of China's Mars probe TW1 (Tianwen 1) were carried out using the 25 m radio telescope at Sheshan, Shanghai, and other VLBI stations. The results of data processing and analysis show that the standard deviation of VLBI residual group delay based on both active hydrogen atomic clock and space passive hydrogen maser are within 0.5 ns, which indicates that the space passive hydrogen maser can meet the accuracy requirements of VLBI measurement for deep space exploration, and verify its feasibility as the frequency standard of lunar orbital VLBI stations. Objective: To develop prediction models for estimating the bone-graft volume needed for sinus floor elevation (SFE) based on the augmentation site, elevation height, and sinus width using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and methods: CBCT scans with a medium-to-large field-of-view with bilateral maxillary sinuses partially/entirely visible, acquired from February 2016 to October 2020, were initially screened. Ten defined regions, above the maxillary first (MM1) and second molar (MM2) sites, in the sinuses of the included CBCTs were semi-automatically segmented, and the volumes of the regions were automatically measured using the ITK-SNAP program. The sinus widths at the height ranging between 8 and 16 mm from the sinus floor were measured at the MM1 to MM2 sites, respectively. Multiple linear regression analyses were performed to establish prediction models for estimating the bone graft volume needed for SFE at the MM1 and/or MM2 sites with the sinus width and elevation height as predictors. Results: A total of 133 scans (224 sinuses) were included. Three developed prediction models, composed of the sinus width and elevation height, explained 89–91% of the variation in the bone graft volumes estimated for SFE at the MM1, MM2, and MM1-MM2 sites. The mean absolute deviations and absolute percentage deviations between the measured and predicted volumes ranged from 0.12 to 0.28cm3 and from 9.78 to 10.62%, respectively. Conclusion: The proposed prediction models may enable more patient-specific estimation of the bone graft volume needed for SFE. Clinical relevance. To understand how malaria could be eliminated in the original hyperendmic area for malaria along international borders in Yunnan Province, malaria situation and control were described on the basis of seven phases. At last the experiences and lessons of the program that reduced border malaria from hyperendmicity to malaria-free status were summarized. Malaria control and elimination area were particularly difficult in the Yunnan border. The achievement can be attributed to high political commitment, strategic and technical innovations based on the actual locality, effective collaboration and communication with neighbouring countries to carry out cross border interventions. Other border areas might perform their own pilot interventions based on their local context, including malaria burden, governing system, health service structure contextualized based on their socioeconomic development and ecology, and then a local decision could be made according to their own trial results. Communication between interacting organisms via bioactive molecules is widespread in nature and plays key roles in diverse biological processes. Small RNAs (sRNAs) can travel between host plants and filamentous pathogens to trigger transkingdom RNA interference (RNAi) in recipient cells and modulate plant defense and pathogen virulence. However, how fungal pathogens counteract transkingdom antifungal RNAi has rarely been reported. Here we show that a secretory protein VdSSR1 (secretory silencing repressor 1) from Verticillium dahliae, a soil-borne phytopathogenic fungus that causes wilt diseases in a wide range of plant hosts, is required for fungal virulence in plants. VdSSR1 can translocate to plant nucleus and serve as a general suppressor of sRNA nucleocytoplasmic shuttling. We further reveal that VdSSR1 sequesters ALY family proteins, adaptors of the TREX complex, to interfere with nuclear export of the AGO1–microRNA (AGO1–miRNA) complex, leading to a great attenuation in cytoplasmic AGO1 protein and sRNA levels. With this mechanism, V. dahliae can suppress the accumulation of mobile plant miRNAs in fungal cells and succedent transkingdom silencing of virulence genes, thereby increasing its virulence in plants. Our findings reveal a mechanism by which phytopathogenic fungi antagonize antifungal RNAidependent plant immunity and expand the understanding on the complex interaction between host and filamentous pathogens. With the rapid growth of Chinese Manufacturing SMEs for economic development, environmental pollution and abuse of resources are arising. To resolve these issues, Chinese manufacturing SMEs are accelerating the implementation of green innovation in their industries. However, it is a complex task that involves enterprise, government, and social considerations. Therefore, it is essential to identify the green drivers for this implementation. With a focus on China's current situation from previous research and views from experts, this study aims to investigate how Chinese Manufacturing Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) are responding to resource misuse and environmental pollution by implementing green innovation, emphasising the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in improving environmental performance. This study primarily looks into the factors that influence the adoption of green innovations by analysing the growth paths of Chinese SMEs operating in highly polluting industries over a longer time frame than five years. Artificial Intelligence is a valuable tool for solving the issues of ecological degradation. A quantitative method has been implemented for the Chinese companies' samples from the deeply polluting industries for more than five years. The findings of this paper advise that the average board size, the governing board meetings, and organizational performance are positively connected with the Chinese firms' environmental process. Board independence and diversity of gender have irrelevant associations with ecological performance. A convenient threshold regression model has been used to accumulate the respondents' data. It also reveals that larger board sizes and more frequent governing board meetings are positively associated with improved environmental performance among these firms. The findings state the critical implications for the firm executives, policymakers, environmental activists, and regulators. The excited-state orientation hydrogen-bonding dynamics, and vibronic spectra of isoquinoline (IQ) and its cationic form IQc in water have been investigated at the time-dependent density functional theory quantum chemistry level plus Franck-Condon simulation and interpretation. The excited-state orientation hydrogen bond strengthening has been found in IQ:H2O complex due to the charge redistribution upon excitation; this is interpreted by simulated 1:1 mixed absorption spectra of free IQ and IQ:H2O complex having best agreement with experimental results. Conversely, the orientation hydrogen bond in IQc:H2O complex would be strongly weakening in the S1 state and this is interpreted by simulated absorption spectra of free IQc having best agreement with experimental results. By performing Franck-Condon simulation, it reveals that several important vibrational normal modes with frequencies about 1250 cm-1 involving the wagging motion of the hydrogen atoms are very sensitive to the formation of the orientation hydrogen bond for the IQ/IQc:H2O complex and this is confirmed by damped Franck-Condon simulation with free IQ/IQc in water. However, the emission spectra of the IQ and IQc in water have been found differently. Upon the excitation, the simulated fluorescence of IQ in water is dominated by the IQ:H2O complex; thus hydrogen bond between IQ and H2O is much easier to form in the S1 state. While the weakened hydrogen bond in IQc:H2O complex is probably cleaved upon the laser pulse because the simulated emission spectrum of the free IQc is in better agreement with the experimental results. The electrodeposition of reduced graphene oxide and carbon nanotube (ErGO/CNTs) composite film modified electrode has been fabricated by electrochemical reduction of graphene oxide (GO) and MWNTs composite film coated on the surface of glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The results show that in 0.2 mol/L NaAc-HAc (pH= 4.5) buffer solution, cryptotanshinone produced a pair of sensitive redox peaks with peak potentials of -0.180 V and -0.207 V (vs SCE). The electrode reaction was two electrons and two protons participate in the completely reversible process of adsorption control. The ErGO/CNTs membrane modified electrode has obvious catalytic and sensitizing effects on the redox of cryptotanshinone. Differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) is used to investigate the relationship between oxidation peak current and cryptotanshinone concentration. It is found that the oxidation current of cryptotanshinone is linear with its concentration in the range of 2.7 × 10-8 ~1.3 × 10-5 mol/L and the determination limit is 1.0 × 10-8 mol/L, which can realize the electrochemical detection of cryptotanshinone in the drug. Oil sludge is an organic solid waste in the petrochemical industry and improper treatment of oil sludge will cause environmental pollution. Pyrolysis is an effective way to realize its resource reuse. In order to understand the pyrolysis behavior and thermodynamic characteristics of oil sludge, four oil sludge samples from storage tanks were used as the research object, and pyrolysis experiments were carried out at heating rates of 5 °C, 10 °C, and 15 °C per minute under a nitrogen atmosphere. The kinetic parameters of pyrolysis of oil sludge are calculated by three equal conversion methods, Friedman method, Flynn-Wall-Ozawa method and Distributed activation energy model, and the most possible thermodynamic models for the main pyrolysis phase were analyzed and discussed by introducing the Malek method. The results show: high heating rate can promote the pyrolysis of oil sludge and in the pyrolysis stage, the apparent activation energy increases with the increase of the conversion rate. The apparent activation energy calculated by the Friedman method method is more reliable. The average apparent activation energies of the four oil sludge are 221.23, 84.71, 94.67, and 116.56 kJ/mol, respectively. The apparent activation energy and the pre-exponential factor are positively correlated, indicating that there is a kinetic compensation effect in the pyrolysis process. The thermodynamic models of the four oil sludge samples are all 3-D diffusion models, but their integral functions are different. Introduction: Serum ferritin (SF) is an acute-phase reactant in inflammatory diseases. Our aim was to analyze the clinical implications of SF in Kawasaki disease (KD).Methods: 244 KD children were divided into 6 subgroups. Background: GJ-4 is extracted from Gardenia jasminoides J. Ellis (Fructus Gardenia) with crocin composition and has been demonstrated to improve memory deficits in several dementia models in our previous studies. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of GJ-4 on hyperlipidemic vascular dementia (VD) and explore the underlying mechanisms. Design: In the current study, we employed a chronic hyperlipidemic VD rat model by permanent bilateral common carotid arteries occlusion (2-VO) based on high-fat diet (HFD), which is an ideal model to mimic the clinical pathogenesis of human VD. Results: Our results showed that GJ-4 could significantly reduce serum lipids level and improve cerebral blood flow in hyperlipidemic VD rats. Additionally, treatment with GJ-4 remarkedly ameliorated memory impairment and alleviated neuronal injury. Mechanistic investigation revealed that the neuroprotective effects of GJ-4 might be attributed to the inhibition of microglia-mediated neuro-inflammation via regulating the M1/M2 polarization. Our data further illustrated that GJ-4 could regulate the phenotype of microglia through activating the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPAR-γ) and subsequently inhibited nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) nuclear translocation and increased CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein β (C/EBPβ) expression. The study aims to reduce the production cost and improve the electromechanical management level of enterprises. A switching type reluctance drive system based on Advanced Virtual RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) (AVR) is designed. In addition, the control circuit of the switched reluctance drive (SRD) system needs to be designed. Control circuit design includes the minimum system of the Single Chip Microcomputer (SCM), position sensor circuit, position signal channel, current detection circuit, and current simulation control circuit. Among them, the current simulation control circuit is the most critical hardware. The performance of the designed SRD system is tested through simulation experiments. The results show that when the rated speed is lower than 750 rpm, the rotation multiple is between 1.5 and 2. And when the speed is slow, the matrix output ability will be better. When the speed ratio is 20% more than the rated value, the matrix output ability has 1.32 times the ability of the torque. It can be concluded that the torque output trend and matrix output value conform to the requirements of matrix performance. Combined with the test results of the current waveform, the SRD system based on the AVR microcontroller has excellent control and detection ability. Lappula sinaica was recently transferred to the monotypic genus Pseudolappula based on phylogenetic studies, while the related species, L. occultata, has remained in the genus Lappula. In this study, morphological, molecular, and palynological evidence supports that L. occultata should be transferred to the genus Pseudolappula. Both L. occultata and P. sinaica share a combination of nutlets features that distinguish them from Lappula: a longer adaxial keel and a linear attachment scar. Phylogenetic analysis based on ITS and trnL-F strongly supports L. occultata as the sister taxon of P. sinaica. In addition, pollen grains of these two species are 3-syncolporate with 3 alternating pseudocolpi, which is significantly different from the grains of Lappula taxa. This study proposes the comprehensive index of biomarker (CIB), based on the consistency of a biomarker in case control (Youden index, J) and cohort studies (Crc), to evaluate biomarker efficacy. CIB was calculated as the mean of J and Crc. Analysis of the effect of sensitivity and specificity on CIB and ROC analysis of CIB were performed in simulated and actual datasets. J and CIB had similar values for high-probability events (say probability was 0.50), but there was a significant difference between J and CIB for low-probability events (say probability was 0.05). Therefore, as the subjects considered for diagnosis are usually symptomatic, the occurrence of a disease can be assumed to be a high-probability event. In contrast, as the subjects considered in screening for a disease are usually healthy and asymptomatic, the occurrence of a disease is assumed to be a low-probability event. Although J is the common index used to evaluate the diagnostic effectiveness, unfortunately, the J value is significantly larger than CIB value in a low-probability event, showing overestimation for screening purpose. CIB could have more potential than J for determining the screening efficacy of a biomarker. The efficacy of a biomarker could differ for diagnostic, screening, predictive, and prognostic purposes, and it would be better to evaluate the efficacy of biomarkers for specific systems or contexts. In this study, we have developed a novel biomimetic electrochemical sensor sensitized with functionalized carbon nanotubes using a molecularly imprinted film as a recognition element for the rapid detection of uric acid. Using K3[Fe(CN)6] as a probe, uric acid imprinted films on electrodes are characterized by voltammetry measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The optimizations of experimental steps are conducted by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. When the imprinted sensor is immersed in the solution containing a certain concentration of uric acid and incubated for a period of time, the oxidation peak current of K3[Fe(CN)6] decreases with the increase of uric acid concentration. Under optimal conditions, the peak current of K3[Fe(CN)6] has a good linear relationship with uric acid concentration at range from 0.1 µM to 3.3 µM with the detection limit of 0.03 µM. Objective: Myeloma bone disease (MBD) is the most common complication of multiple myeloma (MM). Our previous study showed that the serum levels of C3/C4 in MM patients were significantly positively correlated with the severity of bone disease. However, the mechanism of C3a/C4a in osteoclasts MM patients remains unclear. Methods: The formation and function of osteoclasts were analyzed after adding C3a/C4a in vitro. RNA-seq analysis was used to screen the potential pathways affecting osteoclasts, and the results were verified by Western blot, qRT-PCR, and pathway inhibitors. Results: The osteoclast area per view induced by 1 µg/mL (mean ± SD: 50.828 ± 12.984%) and 10 µg/mL (53.663 ± 12.685%) of C3a was significantly increased compared to the control group (0 µg/mL) (34.635 ± 8.916%) (P < 0.001 and P < 0.001, respectively). The relative mRNA expressions of genes, OSCAR/TRAP/RANKL/cathepsin K, induced by 1 µg/mL (median: 5.041, 3.726, 1.638, and 4.752, respectively) and 10 µg/mL (median: 5.140, 3.702, 2.250, and 5.172, respectively) of C3a was significantly increased compared to the control group (median: 3.137, 2.004, 0.573, and 2.257, respectively) (1 µg/mL P = 0.001, P = 0.003, P < 0.001, and P = 0.008, respectively; 10 µg/mL: P < 0.001, P = 0.019, P < 0.001, and P = 0.002, respectively). The absorption areas of the osteoclast resorption pits per view induced by 1 µg/mL (mean ± SD: 51.464 ± 11.983%) and 10 µg/mL (50.219 ± 12.067%) of C3a was also significantly increased (33.845 ± 8.331%) (P < 0.001 and P < 0.001, respectively) compared to the control. There was no difference between the C4a and control groups. RNA-seq analysis showed that C3a promoted the proliferation of osteoclasts using the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) signaling pathway. The relative expressions of PIK3CA/phosphoinositide dependent kinase-1 (PDK1)/serum and glucocorticoid inducible protein kinases (SGK3) genes and PI3K/PDK1/p-SGK3 protein in the C3a group were significantly higher than in the control group. The activation role of C3a in osteoclasts of MM patients was reduced by the SGK inhibitor (EMD638683). Conclusions: C3a activated osteoclasts by regulating the PI3K/PDK1/SGK3 pathways in MM patients, which was reduced using a SGK inhibitor. Background: To understand a causal role of modifiable lifestyle factors in angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) expression (a putative severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 [SARS- CoV-2] receptor) across 44 human tissues/organs, and in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) susceptibility and severity, we conducted a phenome-wide two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study. Methods: More than 500 genetic variants were used as instrumental variables to predict smoking and alcohol consumption. To better understand the origin and tectonic evolution of the Paleoproterozoic Jiao-Liao- Ji belt, North China craton, which have long been debated, we have conducted whole-rock geochemical and zircon U-Pb and Hf isotope analyses on Paleoproterozoic monzo(syeno) granitic gneisses and metamafic rocks from eastern Liaoning Province. The results indicate that these monzo(syeno)granitic gneisses and metamafic rocks formed concurrently at ca. 2.2-2.1 Ga. The monzo(syeno)granitic gneisses show geochemical features of A-type granites and were derived from dehydration melting of Archean tonalite-trondhjemitegranodiorite (TTG) with minor involvement of coeval mantle-derived magma in an extensional setting. The metamafic rocks are geochemically similar to mid-ocean-ridge basalt; they were generated by partial melting of isotope-depleted asthenospheric mantle in an intracontinental extensional setting and experienced crustal and continental lithospheric mantle contamination and fractional crystallization. Based on this study and published geological evidence, we propose the following tectonic model for the origin and geodynamic evolution of the Jiao-Liao-Ji belt: (1) Generation of high-density eclogitized lower crust accompanied by formation of voluminous Archean TTGs in the Eastern block; (2) intracontinental extension driven by upwelling of an asthenospheric hotspot along the Jiao-Liao-Ji belt in period of 2.20-2.0 Ga; (3) convergent orogenic processes between the Longgang block and Nangrim block governed by gravity-driven subduction of high-density eclogitized lower crust at ca. 1.95-1.85 Ga; and (4) postorogenic extension caused by delamination of the orogenic root and subsequent hot asthenospheric upwelling. The comprehensive investigation of orogenic-related litho-structural assemblages, metamorphism, and geochronology in early Precambrian orogens can help us better understand the features of plate tectonics in early Earth. The Paleoproterozoic Aketashitage orogenic belt is located at a key position in northwestern China and connects the North China craton, Tarim craton, Altaids orogen, and Tethys orogen. Garnet-bearing mafic and paragneissic granulite occur as interlayers or blocks preserved within paragneissic matrix, and two to three generations of metamorphic mineral assemblages were identified. Geothermobarometry and pseudosection modeling yielded clockwise metamorphic P-T paths passing from 7.5-8.6 kbar/575-715 °C (M1) through 7.4-12.2 kbar/715-895 °C (M2) and finally to 5.2-7.3 kbar/710-800 °C (M3) for the mafic and paragneissic granulite as well as amphibolite, which is indicative of metamorphic features of subduction/collision zones. Peak metamorphic P-T conditions of all the samples lie in the medium P/T facies series, suggesting that the thermal gradient (~20-31 °C/km) of this Paleoproterozoic orogenic belt was obviously higher than most of the Phanerozoic subduction zones. Secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) and laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) U-Pb dating of zircon and monazite yielded metamorphic ages of ca. 1.98-1.96 Ga in the eastern part of the orogen, ca. 1.86-1.85 Ga in the western part, and a maximum depositional age of ca. 2.06 Ga for paragneiss. Compared with previous studies, the Aketashitage orogen is composed of unordered juxtaposition of diverse, subduction-related tectono-metamorphic blocks with different protoliths, metamorphic grades, and ages preserved within the paragneissic matrix deposited in the Paleoproterozoic, which is highly similar to Phanerozoic mélange. A Paleoproterozoic subduction-metamorphic-exhumation-accretionary process was deciphered, similar to that found in accretionary/orogenic wedge in Phanerozoic orogens. The juxtaposition of diverse, subduction-related tectonic blocks with contrasting ages and metamorphic features can serve as a marker of early Precambrian orogens and plate tectonics. Determining the correct conservation status of a species provides fundamental and critical information for species conservation policies. However, species traits and limited research efforts might decrease the accuracy of conservation assessments. Scleria sumatrensis has been considered a regionally extinct sedge plants in Taiwan, and the only, previous record of this species was from a collection provided by Urbain Faurie in 1914. More than one hundred years after Faurie's record, we confirm the current occurrence of S. sumatrensis in Taiwan via morphological and molecular authentications in the present study. The morphological details of S. sumatrensis are provided based on the descriptions and illustrations. The conservation status for this species is reassigned to the Critically Endangered (CR) category. Further conservation efforts and research on S. sumatrensis are also discussed. In order to improve the electrochemical behavior of graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4), ZnO nanoparticles were coupled with g-C3N4 nanosheets to form functional nanocomposite through hydrothermal method. The morphologies of nanocomposite were characterized by TEM and XRD. The results revealed that the addition of g-C3N4 can efficiently inhibit the growth of ZnO along the c-axis to obtain smaller size ZnO nanoparticles, which could bring the enhanced electrochemical response. Hydrogen peroxide was selected as a model to investigate the electrochemical behavior of nanocomposite in neutral condition. Compared with pure ZnO and g-C3N4 modified electrodes, the oxidation of H2O2 could be greatly enhanced at the ZnO/g-C3N4 modified electrode, revealing that the coupling of g-C3N4 with metal oxide could significantly improve its conductivity and electrochemical response. As a result, H2O2 could be sensitively detected at the modified electrode in the range of 5 μM to 0.2 mM.
