Abstract This article aims to propose a method for computing the similarity between lengthy texts on intangible cultural heritage (ICH), to facilitate the swift and efficient acquisition of knowledge about it by the public and promote the dissemination and preservation of this culture. This proposed method builds on traditional text similarity techniques. The ultimate goal is to group together those lengthy texts on ICH that exhibit a high degree of similarity. First of all, the word2vec model is utilized to construct the feature word vector of music ICH communication. This includes the acquisition of long text data on music ICH, the word segmentation of music ICH communication based on the dictionary method in the field of ICH, and the creation of a word2vec model of music ICH communication. A clustering algorithm analyzes and categorizes ICH communication within the music. This procedure involves employing text semantic similarity, utilizing a similarity calculation method based on optimized Word Mover Distance (WMD), and designing long ICH communication clustering. The main objective of this analysis is to enhance the understanding and classification of the intricate nature of ICH within the musical realm. Finally, experiments are conducted to confirm the model’s effectiveness. The results show that: (1) the text word vector training based on the word2vec model is highly accurate; (2) with the increase in K value, the effect of each category of intangible word vector is improving; (3) the final F1-measure value of the clustering experiment based on the optimized WMD is 0.84. These findings affirm the usefulness and accuracy of the proposed methodology.

Abstract Artificial RNA translation modulation usually relies on multiple components, such as RNA binding proteins (RBPs) or microRNAs (miRNAs) for off-switches and double-inverter cascades for on-switches. Recently, translational circular RNAs (circRNAs) were developed as promising alternatives for linear messenger RNAs (mRNAs). However, circRNAs still lack straightforward and programmable translation control strategies. Here, we rationally design a programmable miRNA-responsive internal ribosome entry site (IRES) translation activation and repression (PROMITAR) platform capable of implementing miRNA-based translation upregulation and downregulation in a single RNA construct. Based on the PROMITAR platform, we construct logic gates and cell-type classifier circRNAs and successfully identify desired mammalian cell types. We also demonstrate the potential therapeutic application of our platform for targeted cancer cell killing by encoding a cytotoxic protein in our engineered circRNAs. We expect our platform to expand the toolbox for RNA synthetic biology and provide an approach for potential biomedical applications in the future.

Many patients with hypopharyngeal carcinoma (HPC) do not respond to first-line combination therapy. Here, the authors analyse the tumour and the tumour microenvironment of HPC patients treated with combination therapy using single-cell RNA-seq, and train a classifier to distinguish responders based on cell type composition.

Summary: Intermolecular interactions, including hydrogen bonds, dominate the pairing and unpairing of nucleic acid chains in the transfer process of genetic information. The energy of THz waves just matches with the weak interactions, so THz waves may interact with biomolecules. Here, the dynamic effects of THz electromagnetic (EM) waves on the mechanical unfolding process of RNA hairpins (WT-30nt and its mutants, rHP, SARS-CoV-2, and SRV-1 SF206) are investigated using steered molecular dynamics (SMD) simulations. The results show that THz waves can either promote the unfolding of the double helix of the RNA hairpin during the initial unfolding phase (4–21.8 THz) or significantly enhance (23.8 and 25.5 THz) or weaken (37.4 and 41.2 THz) its structural stability during unfolding. Our findings have important implications for applying THz waves to regulate dynamic deconvolution processes, such as gene replication, transcription, and translation.

This paper proposes an approach based on the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) by studying the value of ICH to explore the value of the ICH of folk music on mental health and its safeguarding measures. Additionally, a questionnaire survey is conducted on the value of the ICH of folk music among college students. The Tibetan Guozhuang dance and music in the ICH are taken as the object. The students’ awareness, participation, and effects on physical and mental health, emotional regulation, and stress regulation are investigated, to study the safeguarding value of folk music. The survey results reveal that in the process of participating in the folk art of Tibetan Guozhuang dance, 41.8% of the students consider it very useful for emotional regulation and stress relief, and 46.31% believe it is useful. 36.95% of the students feel that it is very useful for the development of mental health, and 49.75% think it is useful. This indicates that a total of 86.7% of the students believe that the dance is helpful to the development of students’ mental health. And most of the students are in a happy mood when participating in the dance. Among them, 71.7% of the students say that they are elated, and 66.98% feel that they are excited. It illustrates that as a young group, the students are fond of folk art, but they lack the cognitive approach. Finally, the safeguarding suggestions and implementation paths are put forward in view of the existing problems of the ICH of folk music. The research can provide a research reference for the safeguarding of the ICH of folk music.

The fundamental unit for comprehending the physicochemical properties of water, the Zundel cation configuration H5O2+, has yet to be exhaustively evaluated in terms of its interaction with terahertz (THz) electromagnetic waves, characterized by sub-picosecond oscillation periods or pulse widths. In this study, we embark on an investigation of the broad resonance and high-field nonresonant effects of intense THz radiation (ITR) on Zundel cations, utilizing a multifaceted methodological approach that includes density functional theory (DFT) calculations, finite difference time domain (FDTD) algorithm of the Schrödinger equation, and ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations. Our analysis reveals that the proton potential energy surface (PES) varies in response to the external electric (E) field, suggesting that the interaction frequency of the central proton with the electromagnetic wave encompasses the THz band. This resonance effect is associated with proton behavior that may oscillate or demonstrate periodic tunneling. Moreover, our work uncovers the high-field nonresonant effects of ITR on Zundel cations, manifesting in proton transfer and vibrational excitation of the system. Our findings contribute to the understanding of the interaction between Zundel species and electromagnetic waves by presenting a microscopic view of proton transfer as informed by wavefunction evolution.

How terahertz signals perform in the neural system has attracted widespread interest in the life sciences community. Relevant experimental reveals that in animal nerve cells, the myelin sheath of the nerve axon has a higher refractive index than the intracellular and extracellular fluids in the Terahertz-far-infrared (THz-FIR) frequency band. This makes THz-FIR wave transmission possible in nerve fibers. Based on this premise, this article carries out the following work from the theoretical level to investigate the electromagnetic (EM) characteristics of in vivo nerve fibers at the THz-FIR band. First, the EM transmission model of the nerve fibers is established and studied theoretically. The dispersion curves of THz-FIR wave modals transmission in nerve fibers are calculated, which predict that nerve fibers can act as dielectric waveguides for transmitting THz-FIR waves and the THz-FIR waves can transmit at speeds up to 108 m/s. Second, a mode matching algorithm is proposed, which is named RNMMA, to calculate the transmission characteristics of THz-FIR waves at the nodes of Ranvier. The scattering matrix obtained from the proposed algorithm is in good agreement with the results from EM simulation software, which reveals how THz-FIR signals are transmitted forward through the nodes of Ranvier with low loss.

Abstract Combining isolated atomic active sites with those in nanoparticles for synergizing complex multistep catalysis is being actively pursued in the design of new electrocatalyst systems. However, these novel systems have been rarely studied due to the challenges with synthesis and analysis. Herein, a synergistically catalytic performance is demonstrated with a 0.89 V (vs reversible hydrogen electrode) onset potential in the four‐step oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) by localizing tungsten single atoms around tungsten nitride nanoparticles confined into nitrogen‐doped carbon (W SAs/WNNC). Through density functional theory calculations, it is shown that each of the active centers in the synergistic entity feature a specific potential‐determining step in their respective reaction pathway that can be merged to optimize the intermediate steps involving scaling relations on individual active centers. Impressively, the W SAs/WNNC as the air cathode in all‐solid‐state Zn‐air and Al‐air batteries demonstrate competitive durability and reversibility, despite the acknowledged low activity of W‐based catalyst toward the ORR.

(1) Background: Treatment of dyslipidemia via statin therapy in the non-liver transplant (LT) population is associated with a mortality benefit; however, the impact of statin therapy in post-LT population is not well-defined. This meta-analysis seeks to investigate the safety and efficacy of statin therapy in post-LT patients. (2) Methods: A systematic literature search on Medline and EMBASE database was conducted. A single-arm proportional meta-analysis and conventional pair-wise meta-analysis were performed to compare different outcomes with a random effects model. (3) Results: A total of 11 studies were included in this study, with 697 LT recipients identified to be on statin therapy. Statins were underutilized with only 32% (95% CI: 0.15–0.52) of 1094 post-LT patients on therapy. The incidence of adverse events of 14% (95% CI: 0.05–0.25) related to statin therapy was low. A significant mortality benefit was noted in patients on statin therapy with HR = 0.282 (95% CI: 0.154–0.517, p < 0.001), and improved lipid profiles post LT. The use of statins also significantly decreased odds of graft rejection (OR = 0.33; 95% CI: 0.15–0.73) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) recurrence (HR = 0.32, 95% CI: 0.11–0.89). (4) Conclusions: Statin therapy is safe and efficacious in post-LT patients. Future studies to evaluate the effects of interactions between statins and immunosuppressant therapy are warranted.

The saturable absorber of niobium diselenide (NbSe2), with a wide working bandwidth and excellent nonlinear optical response, was prepared using liquid-phase exfoliation. Its saturation intensity and modulation depth were 5.35 MW/cm2 and 6.3%, respectively. Stable mode-locking with a center wavelength of 1558.7 nm of an erbium-doped fiber laser based on a NbSe2 saturable absorber was successfully achieved. The maximum average output power of the mode-locked laser was 6.93 mW, with a pulse width of 1.3 ps and a repetition rate of 25.31 MHz at a pump power of 550 mW. The results show that NbSe2 is a promising photoelectric modulation material owing to its excellent nonlinear optical properties.

Wear tends to shorten tool life, reduce component quality. To prevent or postpone the wear of tool steel forming tools, methods to increase wear resistance, such as increasing the material hardness, optimizing the carbide distribution and application of surface coatings, are often used. However, the formation of lubricating phases in steels leading to anti-attrition is less investigated. The friction behavior of three steels were investigated thoroughly by a tribo test with different normal loads. A Field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) along with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) were used to characterize the microstructure as well as the influence of the precipitated phases on the wear mechanisms. Results showed the friction coefficient decreased with increasing normal load, whereas the wear rate increased with increasing normal load. Compared with SKD11 and DC53 steels, the friction coefficient and wear volume of SLD-MAGIC steel were reduced by 0.1 to 0.3 and 10% to 30%, respectively. With the increase of normal load, the wear mechanism changed in order from abrasive wear, adhesive wear to oxidation wear. The more carbide contents, the rounder the carbide, the better the wear resistance of the tool steel. It can be shown that, under different normal loads, SLD-MAGIC exhibits better wear performance than SKD11 and DC53 tool steels, which is mainly due to the self-lubricating phenomenon of SLD-MAGIC steel. The self-lubricating mechanism was due to the fact that the exfoliated sulfide during wear formed a lubricating film to reduce wear.

Carbon dioxide electroreduction (CO2RR) with renewable energy is of great significance to realize carbon neutralization. Traditional electrolysis devices usually need an ion exchange membrane to eliminate the interference of oxygen generated on the anode. Herein, the novel CuO/CeO2 composite was facilely prepared by anchoring small CuO nanoparticles on the surface of CeO2 nanocubes. In addition, CuO(002) crystal planes were induced to grow on CeO2(200), which was preferable for CO2 adsorption and C-C bond formation. As the catalyst in a membrane-free cell for CO2RR, the Cu+ was stabilized due to strong interactions between copper and ceria to resist the reduction of negative potentials and the oxidation of oxygen from the counter electrode. As a result, a high Faradaic efficiency of 62.2% toward C2 products (ethylene and ethanol) was achieved for the first time in the membrane-free conditions. This work may set off a new upsurge to drive the industrial application of CO2RR through membrane-free electrocatalysis.

Variations in PRKN or HTRA2 are associated with Parkinson’s disease. We generated a human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) line CIBi007-A from a patient with young-onset Parkinson’s disease (YOPD) who carried variants in PRKN and HTRA2. The generated iPSCs resembled human embryonic stem cells, expressed pluripotency markers, exhibited a normal karyotype, and could be differentiated into three germ layers in vitro. This line will be valuable for investigating disease mechanisms of YOPD and screening candidate drugs.

Collaborative filtering technology is currently the most successful and widely used technology in the recommendation system. It has achieved rapid development in theoretical research and practice. It selects information and similarity relationships based on the user’s history and collects others that are the same as the user’s hobbies. User’s evaluation information is to generate recommendations. The main research is the inadequate combination of context information and the mining of new points of interest in the context-aware recommendation process. On the basis of traditional recommendation technology, in view of the characteristics of the context information in music recommendation, a personalized and personalized music based on popularity prediction is proposed. Recommended algorithm is MRAPP (Media Recommendation Algorithm based on Popularity Prediction). The algorithm first analyzes the user’s contextual information under music recommendation and classifies and models the contextual information. The traditional content-based recommendation technology CB calculates the recommendation results and then, for the problem that content-based recommendation technology cannot recommend new points of interest for users, introduces the concept of popularity. First, we use the memory and forget function to reduce the score and then consider user attributes and product attributes to calculate similarity; secondly, we use logistic regression to train feature weights; finally, appropriate weights are used to combine user-based and item-based collaborative filtering recommendation results. Based on the above improvements, the improved collaborative filtering recommendation algorithm in this paper has greatly improved the prediction accuracy. Through theoretical proof and simulation experiments, the effectiveness of the MRAPP algorithm is demonstrated.

A month-long field observation campaign was conducted, which covered approximately 100 km2 of the Gobi Desert area on the southeast bank of Bosten Lake during the summer of 2016. The purpose of the study was to examine the physical characteristics of the low atmosphere over land-lake nonuniform underlying surfaces in the Gobi Desert of northwestern China. The results of the statistical analysis showed that, during the observational period, the average daytime surface horizontal thermal gradient reached up to −0.2°C/km from the lakeshore to southern Gobi Desert area. The near-surface wind field of the 7 km horizontal extent from the lakeshore was dominated by onshore breezes with average peak wind speeds above 5 m/s. In the atmospheric near-surface layer, an isohumidity layer at a height between 10 and 50 m a.g.l. was observed from 11:00 to 18:00 LST. Also, a case study for the atmospheric boundary layer and local circulation analyses was conducted. The onshore breezes were found to play a major role in the vertical structure of the local atmospheric boundary layer. The numerical simulation results indicated that there was an alternating day-night local circulation in the Bosten Lake area.

MicroRNAs are noncoding RNA molecules of 18–25 nucleotides that regulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional levels. Recent data revealed that miR-218 played key roles in tumor metastasis. Here, we described the regulation and function of miR-218 in cervical cancer. Overexpression of miR-218 reduced the proliferation of the human cervical cancer cell line HeLa and induced cell apoptosis through the AKT-mTOR signaling pathway. In addition, it forced expression of miR-218 suppressed tumor growth in the orthotopic mouse model of HeLa cells. Furthermore, miR-218 increased chemosensitivity to cisplatin (CDDP) in vitro. Our results indicated that targeting miR-218 may provide a strategy for blocking the development of cervical cancer.

The tetranuclear title complex, [Zn4(C19H20N2O4)2(CH3COO)4], is formed from two dinuclear motifs related by an inversion centre. The two crystallographically independent ZnII ions in the asymmetric unit are in different coordination environments. One is square-based pyramidal with one O atom of an acetate group occupying the axial position and two N and O atoms of one bmspd [H2bmspd = N,N′-bis(3-methoxysalicylidene)propylene-1,3-diamine] Schiff base ligand forming the basal plane. The other ZnII atom is six-coordinated by four O atoms of the bmspd ligand forming the equatoral plane and two O atoms of different acetate groups located in the axial positions. As a result, the two phenolic planes of the bicompartmental Schiff base ligand are distorted slightly. However, the planes of the two Schiff base ligands are parallel. In addition, the Zn—N and Zn—O bond lengths span the reasonable ranges 2.062 (2)–2.073 (2) and 1.9261 (15)–2.4356 (16) Å, respectively. The Zn...Zn distances separated by phenolic O atoms are 3.2466 (4) Å while the Zn...Zn distances bridged by acetate groups are 5.9835 (6) Å. The tetranuclear moieties are connected by van der Waals interactions, and form a chain along c axis.

Abstract Background Potassium channels play critical roles in the regulation of cell membrane potential, which is central to the excitability of myometrium. The ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channel is one of the most abundant potassium channels in myometrium. The objectives of this study were to investigate the protein expression of KATP channel in human myometrium and determine the levels of KATP channel in lower and upper segmental myometrium before and after onset of labour. Methods Both lower segmental (LS) and upper segmental (US) myometrial biopsies were collected at cesarean section from pregnant women not-in-labour (TNL) or in-labour (TL) at term. Protein expression level and cellular localization of four KATP channel subunits in US and LS myometrium were determined by Western blot analysis and immunohistochemistry, respectively. The contractile activity of myometrial strip was measured under isometric conditions. Results Four KATP channel subunits, namely Kir6.1, Kir6.2, SUR1 and SUR2B were identified in pregnant myometrium. While found in vascular myocytes, these subunits appear to be preferentially expressed in myometrial myocytes. Diazoxide, a KATP channel opener, inhibited the spontaneous contractility of pregnant myometrium, suggesting that the KATP channels are functional in human pregnant myometrium. Diazoxide was less potent in TL strips than that in TNL strips. Interestingly, expression of SUR1 was greater in TL than TNL tissues, although no differences were found for SUR2B in these two tissues. For both lower and upper segmental myometrium, Kir6.1 and Kir6.2 were less in TL compared with TNL tissues. Conclusions Functional KATP channels are expressed in human pregnant myometrium. Down-regulation of Kir6.1 and Kir6.2 expression in myometrium may contribute to the enhanced uterine contractility associated with the onset of labour.
