The alpine grassland ecosystem accounts for 53% of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP) area, which is an important ecological protection barrier, but fragile and highly vulnerable to climate change. Therefore, continuous monitoring of the aboveground biomass (AGB) of grassland is necessary. Although many studies have mapped the spatial distribution of AGB over the QTP, the results vary widely due to the limited ground samples and mismatches with satellite pixel scales. This paper proposed a new algorithm using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as a bridge to re-estimate the grassland AGB over 20 the QTP from 2000 to 2019. The innovations were as follows: 1) In the aspect of ground data collection, the spatial scale matching among the traditional ground quadrat sampling, UAV photos, and MODIS pixels was fully considered. From 2015 to 2019, 906 pairs of ground-UAV sample data at the quadrat scale and 2,602 sets of UAV data matching the MODIS pixel scale were collected. A total of more than 37,000 UAV photos were captured at the height of 20 meters. Therefore, the ground validation samples was sufficient and scale matched. 2) In terms of model construction, the traditional quadrat scale 25 (0.25m2) was successfully upscaled to the MODIS pixel scale (6,2500 m2) based on the random forest method and stepwise upscaling scheme. Compared with previous studies, the scale matching of independent and dependent variables was realized, effectively reducing the impact of scale mismatch. At the pixel scale, the AGB value estimated by UAV had a more linear correlation with the MODIS vegetation indices than the traditional sampling method. The multi-year independent crossvalidation results showed that the constructed pixel scale AGB estimation had good robustness, with an average R2 of 0.83 30 and RMSE of 34.13 g/m2. Teleost zebrafish and neonatal mammalian hearts exhibit the remarkable capacity to regenerate through dedifferentiation and proliferation of pre-existing cardiomyocytes (CMs). Although many mitogenic signals that stimulate zebrafish heart regeneration have been identified, transcriptional programs that restrain injury-induced CM renewal are incompletely understood. Here, we report that mutations in gridlock (grl; also known as hey2), encoding a Hairyrelated basic helix-loop-helix transcriptional repressor, enhance CM proliferation and reduce fibrosis following damage. In contrast, myocardial grl induction blunts CM dedifferentiation and regenerative responses to heart injury. RNA sequencing analyses uncover Smyd2 lysine methyltransferase (KMT) as a key transcriptional target repressed by Grl. Reduction in Grl protein levels triggered by injury induces smyd2 expression at the wound myocardium, enhancing CM proliferation. We show that Smyd2 functions as a methyltransferase and modulates the Stat3 methylation and phosphorylation activity. Inhibition of the KMT activity of Smyd2 reduces phosphorylated Stat3 at cardiac wounds, suppressing the elevatedCM proliferation in injured grl mutant hearts. Our findings establish an injury-specific transcriptional repression program in governing CM renewal during heart regeneration, providing a potential strategy whereby silencing Grl repression at local regions might empower regeneration capacity to the injured mammalian heart. A series of magnetic porous hydrogel spheres were prepared from the oil in water (O/W) Pickering emulsion stabilized with silicone-modified magnetic attapulgite (MAPT), using hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) as the grafting backbone and acrylic acid (AA) as the monomer. The structure, morphologies and physico-chemical features of the Pickering emulsions and the hydrogel spheres were characterized by TEM, SEM, XRD and TGA techniques. The results revealed that the Fe 3 O 4 was attached on the surface of APT with good dispersion, and the magnetic APT (MAPT) was modified successfully with silane. The emulsion with HPC, AA, initiator and crosslinker inside can be directly dropped into hot liquid paraffin to form hydrogel sphere. The rod-like APT as the stabilizer facilitated to form open pore and interconnected pores. The magnetic porous hydrogel sphere can rapidly adsorb the rare elements Rb + and Cs + , with the maximum adsorption capacities of 232.46 and 239.88 mg/g, respectively. The adsorbed Rb + and Cs + ions can be recovered by a simple desorption process, and the hydrogel sphere also showed excellent reusability after five consecutive adsorption–desorption cycles. Paeonia ostii is a traditional medicinal plant popularly used in China. This study intended to evaluate the antioxidant properties and the chemical components of the flavonoid-rich extracts from the flowers of P. ostii. The results showed that the flavonoid-rich extracts from the flowers of P. ostii had strong scavenging capacities on 2,2′-Azinobis-(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonate) (ABTS), hydroxyls, superoxide anions, and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals in a dose-dependent manner. Five flavonoids, dihydrokaempferol (1), apigenin-7-O-β-D-glucoside (2), apigenin-7-O-β-D-neohesperidoside (3), kaempferol-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (4), and kaempferol- 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (5), were isolated from the flavonoid-rich extracts of the flowers of P. ostii. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis revealed that compounds 3 and 4 were abundant in the P. ostii flower and in flavonoid-rich extracts. The main components of the flower of P. ostii are flavonoids. The high antioxidant activity of the flavonoid-rich extracts may be attributed to the high content of flavonoids. The five isolated flavonoids were the primary antioxidant ingredients, and may play important roles in the strong antioxidant activities of this flower. High-strength modified magnesium oxysulfate cement is prepared using light-burned magnesia and industrial waste sulfuric acid resulting from titanium dioxide production. Amino trimethylene phosphonic acid (ATMP) is used as a modifier. Coal fly ash is added as a filler to the magnesium oxysulfate cement in order to further reduce its production cost. The compressive strength, setting time, phase compositions, micro-morphology and volume stability of the modified magnesium oxysulfate cement are comprehensively analysed. The results indicate that the compressive strength of the modified magnesium oxysulfate cement reaches 82·1 MPa when the molar ratio of the active magnesium oxide/sulfuric acid (MgO/H2SO4) ( M) is 6, the water/cement ratio ( R) is 0·6 and the ATMP and coal fly ash dosages are 0·2% and 50%, respectively. Low ATMP doses markedly affect the microstructure, hydration and shrinkage of the magnesium oxysulfate cement. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analyses prove that the needle-like magnesium hydroxide sulfate hydrate - 5Mg(OH)2·MgSO4·7H2O crystal (5·1·7 phase) - is the predominant strength phase in this cement system. Understanding how the dynamics of vegetation growth respond to climate change at different temporal and spatial scales is critical to projecting future ecosystem dynamics and the adaptation of ecosystems to global change. In this study, we investigated vegetated growth dynamics (annual productivity, seasonality and the minimum amount of vegetated cover) in China and their relations with climatic factors during 1982-2011, using the updated Global Inventory Modeling and Mapping Studies (GIMMS) third generation global satellite Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) dataset and climate data acquired from the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP). Major findings are as follows: (1) annual mean NDVI over China significantly increased by about 0.0006 per year from 1982 to 2011; (2) of the vegetated area in China, over 33% experienced a significant positive trend in vegetation growth, mostly located in central and southern China; about 21% experienced a significant positive trend in growth seasonality, most of which occurred in northern China (>35°N); (3) changes in vegetation growth dynamics were significantly correlated with air temperature and precipitation (p < 0.001) at a region scale; (4) at the country scale, changes in NDVI was significantly and positively correlated with annual air temperature (r = 0.52, p < 0.01) and not associated with annual precipitation (p > 0.1); (5) of the vegetated area, about 24% showed significant correlations between annual mean NDVI and air temperature (93% positive and remainder negative), and 12% showed significant correlations of annual mean NDVI with annual precipitation (65% positive and 35% negative). The spatiotemporal variations in vegetation growth dynamics were controlled primarily by temperature and secondly by precipitation. Vegetation growth was also affected by human activities; and (6) monthly NDVI was significantly correlated with the preceding month's temperature and precipitation in western, central and northern China. The effects of a climate lag of more than two months in southern China may be caused mainly by the abundance of precipitation. These findings suggest that continuing efforts to monitor vegetation changes (in situ and satellite observations) over time and at broad scales are greatly needed, and are critical for the management of ecosystems and adapting to global climatic changes. It is likewise difficult to predict well future vegetation growth without linking these observations to mechanistic terrestrial ecosystem processes models that integrate all the satellite and in situ observations. How well parameterization will improve gross primary production (GPP) estimation using the MODerate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) algorithm has been rarely investigated. We adjusted the parameters in the algorithm for 21 selected eddy-covariance flux towers which represented nine typical plant functional types (PFTs). We then compared these estimates of the MOD17A2 product, by the MODIS algorithm with default parameters in the Biome Property Look-Up Table, and by a two-leaf Farquhar model. The results indicate that optimizing the maximum light use efficiency (εmax) in the algorithm would improve GPP estimation, especially for deciduous vegetation, though it could not compensate the underestimation during summer caused by the one-leaf upscaling strategy. Adding the soil water factor to the algorithm would not significantly affect performance, but it could make the adjusted εmax more robust for sites with the same PFT and among different PFTs. Even with adjusted parameters, both one-leaf and two-leaf models would not capture seasonally photosynthetic dynamics, thereby we suggest that further improvement in GPP estimaiton is required by taking into consideration seasonal variations of the key parameters and variables. As an important posttranslational modification, SUMOylation plays critical roles in almost all biological processes. Although it has been well-documented that SUMOylated proteins are mainly localized in the nucleus and have roles in chromatin-related processes, we showed recently that the SUMOylation machinery is actually enriched in the nuclear matrix rather than chromatin. Here, we provide compelling biochemical, cellular imaging and proteomic evidence that SUMOylated proteins are highly enriched in the nuclear matrix. We demonstrated that inactivation of SUMOylation by inhibiting SUMO-activating E1 enzyme or KO of SUMOconjugating E2 enzyme UBC9 have only mild effect on nuclear matrix composition, indicating that SUMOylation is neither required for nuclear matrix formation nor for targeting proteins to nuclear matrix. Further characterization of UBC9 KO cells revealed that loss of SUMOylation did not result in significant DNA damage, but led to mitotic arrest and chromosome missegregation. Altogether, our study demonstrates that SUMOylated proteins are selectively enriched in the nuclear matrix and suggests a role of nuclear matrix in mediating SUMOylation and its regulated biological processes. Accurately modeling the land surface phenology based on satellite data is very important to the study of vegetation ecological dynamics and the related ecosystem process. In this study, we developed a Sigmoid curve (S-curve) function by integrating an asymmetric Gaussian function and a logistic function to fit the leaf area index (LAI) curve. We applied the resulting asymptotic lines and the curvature extrema to derive the vegetation phenophases of germination, green-up, maturity, senescence, defoliation and dormancy. The new proposed S-curve function has been tested in a specific area (Shangdong Province, China), characterized by a specific pattern in leaf area index (LAI) time course due to the dominant presence of crops. The function has not yet received any global testing. The identified phenophases were validated against measurement stations in Shandong Province. (i) From the site-scale comparison, we find that the detected phenophases using the S-curve (SC) algorithm are more consistent with the observations than using the logistic (LC) algorithm and the asymmetric Gaussian (AG) algorithm, especially for the germination and dormancy. The phenological recognition rates (PRRs) of the SC algorithm are obviously higher than those of two other algorithms. The S-curve function fits the LAI curve much better than the logistic function and asymmetric Gaussian function; (ii) The retrieval results of the SC algorithm are reliable and in close proximity to the green-up observed data whether using the AVHRR LAI or the improved MODIS LAI. Three inversion algorithms shows the retrieval results based on AVHRR LAI are all later than based on improved MODIS LAI. The bias statistics reveal that the retrieval results based on the AVHRR LAI datasets are more reasonable than based on the improved MODIS LAI datasets. Overall, the S-curve algorithm has the advantage of deriving vegetation phenophases across time and space as compared to the LC algorithm and the AG algorithm. Objective: Angiolipomas are usually found in the subcutaneous tissue of the trunk and limbs. Spinal angiolipomas (SALs) are uncommon and have rarely been reported. We report a series of nine SALs patients who received surgical treatment in our department. To summarize the clinical characteristics of SALs, propose our surgical strategies, and evaluate the effects of the operation. Methods: This was a retrospective review of nine SALs patients who received surgical treatment from August 2015 to March 2020. Total or subtotal resection was determined by the axial localization (dorsal or ventral) and the extent of intervertebral foramen involvement. The outcomes were assessed based on the modified Japanese Orthopaedic Association (mJOA) scoring system utilized before surgery and at various follow-up points. Results: Among the nine patients, the mean mJOA score before surgery was 6.6±2.3, compared with 10.1±1.1 at the last follow-up time point (33.4±11.8 months). All patients achieved good outcomes, even in cases of subtotal resection. Conclusion: Early surgical resection of SALs is recommended, and the specific procedures should be determined by the axial localization (dorsal or ventral) and the extent of intervertebral foramen involvement. The adsorption isotherms for sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) adsorption from aqueous solutions (pH 4.69) onto wool/water interfaces at 15, 25 and 35°C, respectively, are satisfactorily expressed in linear plots based on a stoichiometric displacement model of adsorption (SDM-A). The studies on adsorption parameters of SDM-A suggest that assembly of SDS molecules on the wool/solution interface follows the partition regularity and stoichiometric displacement relation between the two phases based on the SDM-A. The fact that the general displacement adsorption heats obtained in the calorimetric measurement and the enthalpies calculated by the thermodynamics of SDM-A in the presentation are well in accordance with each other shows that thermodynamic function fraction study of SDM-A is reliable. The studies on thermodynamic parameters and function fractions suggest that at the start of adsorption, the - SO4- groups occupy the sites from which the water molecules are released and simultaneously driven to the edges of alkyl chains closed to polar heads. The surface hydrophobic interactions increase in the way that the adsorbed SDS molecules on the surface favor to form bilayer micelles while every individual SDS molecule in the surface micelles may attach to surface first. The investigation of fluorescence probe of pyrene indicates that surface micelle formation begins in lower surface coverage while the aggregation numbers of micelles grow at high surface coverage. As a conserved posttranslational modification, SUMOylation has been shown to play important roles in chromatin-related biological processes including transcription. However, how the SUMOylation machinery associates with chromatin is not clear. Here, we present evidence that multiple SUMOylation machinery components, including SUMO E1 proteins SAE1 and SAE2 and the PIAS (protein inhibitor of activated STAT) family SUMO E3 ligases, are primarily associated with the nuclear matrix rather than with chromatin. We show using nuclease digestion that all PIAS family proteins maintain nuclear matrix association in the absence of chromatin. Of importance, we identify multiple histones including H3 and H2A.Z as directly interacting with PIAS1 and demonstrate that this interaction requires the PIAS1 SAP (SAF-A/B, Acinus, and PIAS) domain. We demonstrate that PIAS1 promotes SUMOylation of histones H3 and H2B in both a SAP domain- and an E3 ligase activity-dependent manner. Furthermore, we show that PIAS1 binds to heat shock-induced genes and re-presses their expression and that this function also requires the SAP domain. Altogether, our study reveals for the first time the nuclear matrix as the compartment most enriched in SUMO E1 and PIAS family E3 ligases. Our finding that PIAS1 interacts directly with histone proteins also suggests a molecular mechanism as to how nuclear matrix-associated PIAS1 is able to regulate transcription and other chromatin-related processes. Objective: To analyze whether there is an influence of match and mismatch of venous drainage patterns on arteriovenous malformation (AVM) hemorrhagic presentation.Methods: Consecutive 161 patients of AVM between 2014 and 2017 were retrospectively reviewed. Venous drainage was considered deep or superficial. Match of venous drainage pattern was defined as a superficial AVM with only superficial venous drainage or a deep AVM with deep venous drainage. Mismatch of venous drainage pattern was defined as a superficial AVM involving a deep venous drainage. Univariate analysis was used to assess the influence of match and mismatch of venous drainage pattern on AVM hemorrhagic presentation.Results: AVM location and venous drainage were matched in 116 patients, including superficial location with superficial venous drainage or deep location with deep venous drainage, and were mismatched in 45 patients, including superficial location with deep venous drainage. The rupture proportion of mismatch venous drainage pattern was statistically comparable to that of deep location with deep drainage (P = 0.819). However, superficial location with deep venous drainage was statistically associated with a higher rupture percentage than that of superficial location with superficial venous drainage (P = 0.003).Conclusions: Mismatch venous drainage pattern or an exclusively deep venous drainage is associated with an initial clinical presentation with an AVM hemorrhage. Atmospheric ammonia (NH3) plays an important role in the formation of fine particulate matter, leading to severe environmental degradation and human health issues. In this work, ground-based FTIR observations are used to obtain the total columns and vertical profiles of atmospheric NH3 at a measurement site in Hefei, China, from December 2016 to November 2018. The spatial distribution and temporal variation, seasonal trend, emission sources and potential sources of NH3 are analyzed. The time series of ammonia columns show that FTIR observations captured the seasonal cycle of NH3 over the two years of measurement, with a 22.14 % yr-1 annual increase rate over the Hefei site. We used IASI satellite data to compare with the FTIR data, and the correlation coefficients (R) between the two datasets are 0.86 and 0.78 for IASI-A and IASI-B, respectively. The results demonstrate the IASI data are in broad agreement with our FTIR data. To examine the contribution of traffic to NH3 columns, we analyze the relationship of NH3 columns with CO surface concentrations. NH3 columns show high correlation (R = 0.77) with CO concentrations in summer, indicating that the elevated NH3 columns are partly caused by urban emissions from vehicles. Further, high correlation of NH3 columns with air temperature is obvious from their diurnal variation during the observation period. In addition, the clear correlation between NH3 columns and air temperature in spring and autumn over Hefei, suggests that agriculture was indeed the main source of ammonia in spring and autumn. Furthermore, the back trajectories of air masses calculated by the HYSPLIT model confirmed that agriculture was the dominant source of ammonia in spring, autumn and winter, while urban anthropogenic emissions contributed to the high level of NH3 in summer over the Hefei site. The potential source areas influencing the NH3 columns were distributed in the local area of Hefei, the northern part of Anhui province, as well as Shangdong, Jiangsu and Henan provinces. This study helps to identify the emission sources and potential sources that contribute to NH3 columns over Hefei, a highly populated and polluted area. Tumor angiogenesis provides essential nutrients and oxygen to the tumor microenvironment, which is important in tumor growth, progression and metastasis. Inhibition of tumor angiogenesis represents one of the most promising strategies in tumor therapy. The authors previously demonstrated that caudatin, one species of C-21 steroidal from Cynanchum auriculatum (C. auriculatum), effectively inhibits human glioma growth in vitro and in vivo through triggering cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. However, little information regarding the antiangiogenic properties of caudatin in human glioma is available. Based on the author's previous study, the antiangiogenic effect of caudatin against human glioma was explored, and the underlying mechanism was investigated. The results suggested that caudatin treatment significantly inhibited HUVEC human umbilical vein endothelial cell proliferation, blocked the HUVECs migration, invasion and capillary-like tube formation by disturbing the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-VEGFR2-protein kinase B (AKT)/focal adhesion kinase (FAK) signal axis. Notably, caudatin treatment abolished the glioma cell growth by suppression of the in vivo angiogenesis, which involved FAK and AKT dephosphorylation and inhibition of VEGF expression. The deformation and re-crushing characteristics of crushed coal and rock directly affect the porosity and permeability distribution of the mining gob and overburden strata movement, which significantly affects the methane enrichment zone and surface subsidence of mining gobs. The effect of particle size on re-crushing characteristics is investigated in this study based on an innovative compression–acoustic emission (AE) positioning method. The main results are as follows: 1) The AE counts and energy are associated closely with three deformation stages, i.e., initial compression, linear compression, and plastic compression. A larger particle deforms more easily and results in more AE counts and energy under the same compression; 2) crushed coal exhibits layered re-crushing characteristics, i.e., particle re-crushing first occurs in the middle layer, and as stress increases, re-crushing shifts gradually to the upper and lower layers; 3) larger particles re-crush more easily, and the re-crushing occurs more severely in the middle layer under the same compression stress; 4) screened results after final compression show and verify the characteristics of layered re-crushing. The lower layer exhibits the least reduction in porosity for each particle size. A larger particle exhibits a greater re-crushing rate under the same compression stress. The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of the dietary supplementation of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens-based direct-fed microbial (DFM) on growth performance, nutrient utilization, intestinal morphology and cecal microflora in broiler chickens. A total of two hundred and eighty eight 1-d-old Arbor Acres male broilers were randomly allocated to one of four experimental treatments in a completely randomized design. Each treatment was fed to eight replicate cages, with nine birds per cage. Dietary treatments were composed of an antibiotic-free basal diet (control), and the basal diet supplemented with either 15 mg/kg of virginiamycin as antibiotic growth promoter (AGP), 30 mg/kg of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens-based DFM (DFM 30) or 60 mg/kg of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens-based DFM (DFM 60). Experimental diets were fed in two phases: starter (d 1 to 21) and finisher (d 22 to 42). Growth performance, nutrient utilization, morphological parameters of the small intestine and cecal microbial populations were measured at the end of the starter (d 21) and finisher (d 42) phases. During the starter phase, DFM and virginiamycin supplementation improved the feed conversion ratio (FCR; p<0.01) compared with the control group. For the finisher phase and the overall experiment (d 1 to 42) broilers fed diets with the DFM had better body weight gain (BWG) and FCR than that of control (p<0.05). Supplementation of virginiamycin and DFM significantly increased the total tract apparent digestibility of crude protein (CP), dry matter (DM) and gross energy during both starter and finisher phases (p<0.05) compared with the control group. On d 21, villus height, crypt depth and villus height to crypt depth ratio of duodenum, jejunum, and ileum were significantly increased for the birds fed with the DFM diets as compared with the control group (p<0.05). The DFM 30, DFM 60, and AGP groups decreased the Escherichia coli population in cecum at d 21 and d 42 compared with control group (p<0.01). In addition, the population of Lactobacillus was increased in DFM 30 and DFM 60 groups as compared with control and AGP groups (p<0.01). Global land cover is an important parameter of the land surface and has been derived by various researchers based on remote sensing images. Each land cover product has its own disadvantages and limitations. Data fusion technology is becoming a notable method to fully integrate existing land cover information. In this paper, we developed a method to generate a synergetic global land cover map (synGLC) based on Bayes theorem. A state probability vector was defined to precisely and quantitatively describe the land cover classification of every pixel and reduce the errors caused by legends harmonization and spatial resampling. Simple axiomatic approaches were used to generate the prior land cover map, in which pixels with high consistency were regarded to be correct and then used as benchmark to obtain posterior land cover map. Validation results show that our hybrid land cover map (synGLC, the dataset is available on request) has the best overall performance compared with the existing global land cover products. Closed shrub-lands and permanent wetlands have the highest uncertainty in our fused land cover map. Climate change inevitably leads to changes in hydrothermal circulation. However, thermal-hydrologic exchanging caused by land cover change has also undergone ineligible changes. Therefore, studying the comprehensive effects of climate and land cover changes on land surface water and heat exchanges enables us to well understand the formation mechanism of regional climate and predict climate change with fewer uncertainties. This study investigated the land surface thermal-hydrologic exchange across southern China for the next 40 years using a land surface model (ecosystem-atmosphere simulation scheme (EASS)). Our findings are summarized as follows. (i) Spatiotemporal variation patterns of sensible heat flux (H) and evapotranspiration (ET) under the land cover scenarios (A2a or B2a) and climate change scenario (A1B) are unanimous. (ii) Both H and ET take on a single peak pattern, and the peak occurs in June or July. (iii) Based on the regional interannual variability analysis, H displays a downward trend (10%) and ET presents an increasing trend (15%). (iv)The annual average H and ET would, respectively, increase and decrease by about 10% when woodland converts to the cultivated land. Using the angular spectrum method, we numerically investigate the reflection of a Gaussian beam reflected from weakly absorbing media near the Brewster dip and from strongly absorbing media. Numerical simulations are presented and the field values are computed as well as the time-averaged power densities. Besides, the number of effective propagation modes is defined. Apart from that, beamsplitting is presented and is interpreted by the missing of the propagation mode when the light is reflected from a weakly absorbing medium near the Brewster dip. Beamsplitting, however, is not observed, therefore both beam shift and angular shift have been calculated when the light is reflected from a strongly absorbing medium. The conditions for Artmann's formula to be valid in the case of the Brewster dip are discussed. Our results do not support the validity of Artmann's formula applied to the case when a Gaussian beam is reflected from weakly absorbing media near the Brewster dip, but indicate that Artmann's formula is valid and very good for the case of a beam reflected from strongly absorbing media.
