Objective: Obesity has gained attention among patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The impact of visceral obesity on chronic constipation, inflammation, immune function and cognition after diagnosis of IBD is still unknown. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study of 150 IBD patients. Patients’ visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) were measured and were grouped according to visceral obesity. The potential impact of visceral obesity on cognitive function were evaluated using Mini-Mental State Examination. We evaluated patients’ incidence of chronic constipation, levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6), T cells and body mass index in two groups. Results: The prevalence of visceral obesity was 51% (37 out of 72) for Crohn’s disease (CD) patients and 26% for UC patients (20 out of 78 patients). CD patients with visceral obesity has higher incidence of chronic constipation (81% vs. 57%, P = 0.028), higher IL-6 levels (15.28 pg/ml vs. 9.429 pg/ml, P = 0.007) and lower CD4+ T cells (32.7% vs. 44.0%, P < 0.001). VAT/SAT ratio is associated with BMI (P < 0.001). Conclusions: IBD patients had high risks of visceral obesity. CD Patients with visceral obesity had higher prevalence of chronic constipation, higher inflammation levels, decreased immune function.

After real-time measurement of abnormal environmental parameters, the IoT system automatically warns and regulates the drive exhaust fan to ensure the health of the experimental scientific research personnel. In addition, it monitors the temperature and pressure during the experiment. Once the limit is exceeded, it automatically drives the actuator to prevent fires, explosions and other accidents.

Tyramine has been considered a biological hazard for foods and beverages. In this study, an ultra‐high pressure liquid chromatography (UPLC) with benzylamine as an internal standard in dansyl chloride pre‐column derivatisation was developed to determine tyramine in various foods. Different from other tyramine determination methods usually without an internal standard in the pre‐column derivatisation, benzylamine which chemical structure is similar to tyramine was selected as an internal standard. The limits of detection and quantification of this method were 0.05 and 0.25 mg L⁻¹, respectively, while the relative standard deviations of repeatability and reproducibility were 2.1% and 3.1%, respectively. The sensitivity and reliability of this method were also evaluated by determining tyramine in common liquid, pasty and solid foods. The recoveries of tyramine in these foods were between 87.3% and 96.8% by using this method. Overall, it is a fast, inexpensive, reliable and sensitive method to measure tyramine in different food products.

Methods: The expression of miR-4262 was detected in gastric cancer tissues. Different concentrations of miR-4262 mimic and miR-4262 antagomir were respectively transfected into primary gastric carcinoma cells. After incubation for 72 h, the overexpression efficiencies were confirmed by qPCR, cell proliferation was detected with the CCK-8 assay, cell apoptosis was detected by using the PI/Annexin V Cell Apoptosis Kit, and cell invasion was detected with the Transwell invasion assay. The molecular mechanisms underlying the action of miR-4262 in gastric carcinoma cells were also explored. Results: In this study, we found that miR-4262 was significantly downregulated in gastric tissue from gastric cancer patients compared with that from the control group. Moreover, the level of miR-4262 was significantly lower in advanced gastric carcinoma. Additionally, lower level of miR-4262 was correlated with poorer prognosis and lower survival rate in gastric cancer patients. Then, different concentrations of miR-4262 mimic and miR-4262 antagomir were transfected into primary gastric carcinoma cells, respectively. The results showed that miR-4262 mimic suppressed proliferation and invasion and promoted cell apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner in gastric carcinoma cells. In contrast, miR-4262 antagomir increased proliferation and invasion and decreased cell apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner in gastric carcinoma cells. Furthermore, miR-4262 could directly target and suppress the expression of the proto-oncogene CD163. Conclusion: Our findings indicate that lower level of miR-4262 predicts poorer prognosis in gastric patients, and miR-4262 can target proto-oncogene CD163 to suppress gastric cancer cell proliferation and invasion. A binary human–machine interactive channel for smartphone with accelerometer is proposed in this paper. By comparing and analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the four binary gestures, the knock gesture is selected as the interactive gesture. Subsequently, we elaborate on the knock gesture-oriented binary human–computer interaction channel. The accelerometer signal is sampled during the interaction process. Three methods including the heuristic algorithm, the support vector machine algorithm, the online sliding window and bottom-up algorithm are used to cut the sampled data into bit signal segment. Three machine learning algorithms including the decision tree, the support vector machine, and the naive Bayesian are separately adopted to transform the cut signal segment into bit information. Finally, our binary human–computer interaction channel is verified by experiments. A higher recognition rate can be achieved only by using traditional machine learning methods.

Background/Aims: Plasmacytoma variant translocation 1 (PVT1) exerts an oncogenic role in many tumors, including lung cancer. However, the roles of PVT1 in regulating radiosensitivity of NSCLC and its underlying mechanism are still unclear. Methods: Expression levels of PVT1 and miR-195 in NSCLC tissues and cells were examined by qRT-PCR. Effects of PVT1 and miR-195 on cell proliferation, apoptosis and colony formation abilities were assessed by MTT assay, flow cytometry and colony formation assay. Luciferase reporter assay was performed to confirm the relationship between PVT1 and miR-195. Tumor xenograft experiments were conducted to observe the effect of PVT1 on radiosensitivity of NSCLC in vivo. Results: PVT1 was negatively correlated with miR-195 expression in NSCLC tissues and associated with poor prognosis of NSCLC patients. Expression of PVT1 and miR-195 varied inversely after irradiation in NSCLC cells. PVT1 knockdown or miR-195 overexpression enhanced radiosensitivity of NSCLC in vitro by inhibiting proliferation and inducing apoptosis. PVT1 directly interacted with miR-195 and regulated its expression. Moreover, PVT1 knockdown improved radiosensitivity of NSCLC cells in vitro and in vivo by sponging miR-195. Conclusion: Knockdown of PVT1 enhances radiosensitivity of NSCLC by sponging miR-195, providing a novel therapeutic target to improve radiotherapy efficiency in NSCLC.

Targeted therapy is a new type of cancer treatment, which precisely identifies and attacks cancer cells and significantly reduces side effects. In this network meta-analysis, we focused on the efficacy and safety of 12 targeted agents on gastric cancer among a total of 8,405 patients from 24 trials. Hazard ratio (HR) with 95% credible interval (CrI) were calculated for primary outcomes, including overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS), while odds ratio (OR) with 95% CrI were calculated for secondary outcomes. Surface under the cumulative ranking curve (SUCRA) were calculated to illustrate the rank probability of various agents for different outcomes. Compared with other analyzed treatments, ramucirumab is outstanding in survival outcomes. However, higher risk of hematological events should be noted during its application. Lapatinib is also efficacious in progression reduction, while it is always combined with severe gastrointestinal events. Trastuzumab is proposed for its high efficacy in improving survival rate and safety, which is proper for most patients. In conclusion, trastuzumab was recommended as the optimal targeted agent combined with chemotherapy for gastric cancer patients.

Incremental clustering algorithms play a vital role in various applications such as massive data analysis and real-time data processing. Typical application scenarios of incremental clustering raise high demand on computing power of the hardware platform. Parallel computing is a common solution to meet this demand. Moreover, General Purpose Graphic Processing Unit (GPGPU) is a promising parallel computing device. Nevertheless, the incremental clustering algorithm is facing a dilemma between clustering accuracy and parallelism when they are powered by GPGPU. We formally analyzed the cause of this dilemma. First, we formalized concepts relevant to incremental clustering like evolving granularity. Second, we formally proved two theorems. The first theorem proves the relation between clustering accuracy and evolving granularity. Additionally, this theorem analyzes the upper and lower bounds of different-to-same mis-affiliation. Fewer occurrences of such mis-affiliation mean higher accuracy. The second theorem reveals the relation between parallelism and evolving granularity. Smaller work-depth means superior parallelism. Through the proofs, we conclude that accuracy of an incremental clustering algorithm is negatively related to evolving granularity while parallelism is positively related to the granularity. Thus the contradictory relations cause the dilemma. Finally, we validated the relations through a demo algorithm. Experiment results verified theoretical conclusions.

Vulnerabilities such as design flaws, malicious codes and covert channels residing in hardware design are known to expose hard-to-detect security holes. However, security hole detection methods based on functional testing and verification cannot guarantee test coverage or identify malicious code triggered under specific conditions and hardware-specific covert channels. As a complement approach to cipher algorithms and access control, information flow analysis techniques have been proved to be effective in detecting security vulnerabilities and preventing attacks through side channels. Recently, gate level information flow tracking (GLIFT) has been proposed to enforce bittight information flow security from the level of Boolean gates, which allows detection of hardware-specific security vulnerabilities. However, the inherent high complexity of GLIFT logic causes significant overheads in verification time for static analysis or area and performance for physical implementation, especially under multilevel security lattices. This paper proposes to reduce the complexity of GLIFT logic through state encoding and logic optimization techniques. Experimental results show that our methods can reduce the complexity of GLIFT logic significantly, which will allow the application of GLIFT for proving multilevel information flow security.

In recent years, dynamic capabilities of enterprises has been widely concerned by the scholars. Combing the milestone literatures of dynamic capabilities and studying the trend of dynamic capabilities are significate for seeking the research direction of dynamic capabilities as well as guiding the enterprise development in the practice. This article based on the web of Science database, studies the literature of SSCI in the past 20 years, taking the dynamic ability of enterprises as the key word, using citation analysis software CiteSpace 5.3. By using visualization and quantitative literature review method, this article reviewed the literature of domestic and foreign scholars on the dynamic capabilities of enterprises, and found out literature which play a key role in this field, and then found out the development path of the research on enterprise dynamic capabilities, as well as based on this, analyzed the frontier literatures. Finally, it formed the development prospect of the research direction of enterprise dynamic capabilities.

Network traffic clustering plays a fundamental role in network flow analysis. Existing Android network traffic clustering methods have three shortages. First, these methods always focus on partial features, such as port numbers, with the absence of holistic features. Second, existing methods sometimes fail to work if payload of one network package is encrypted. Third, some methods are valid only for several specific application-layer network protocols. To handle these inefficiencies, we adopted network-connection-pattern based features to facilitate Android network traffic clustering. First, a record platform was constructed. This platform executed 575 Android applications and recorded network traffic. Second, we obtained input datasets of clustering through the record platform and extracted features based on network connection pattern. Then, we clustered the input datasets. Finally, we employed Information Gain algorithm and Fast Correlation-Based Filter algorithm separately to rank contributions of features according to the clustering results. Experiments show that the network-connection-pattern-based features lead to more efficient clustering result than the port-number-based features.

Multidrug resistance (MDR) is a critical reason of cancer chemotherapy failure. Ribophorin II (RPN2) has emerged as a vital regulator of MDR in multiple cancers including gastric cancer (GC). However, the roles and molecular mechanisms of RPN2 in MDR have not been well featured till now. The present study aimed to explore the roles and molecular mechanisms of RPN2 in MDR of drug-resistant GC cells. Results showed that the expressions of RPN2, multidrug resistance 1 (MDR1), and ATP binding cassette subfamily G member 2 (ABCG2) were upregulated in SGC7901/DDP and SGC7901/VCR cells. Knockdown of RPN2 alleviated MDR through downregulating MDR1 and ABCG2 expressions in SGC7901/DDP and SGC7901/VCR cells. RPN2 depletion inhibited the activation of MEK/ERK pathway. RPN2 overexpression enhanced MDR by upregulating P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and ABCG2 protein expressions in SGC7901/DDP or SGC7901/VCR cells, while this effect of RPN2 was abrogated by ERK knockdown or treatment with ERK inhibitor PD98059. Our findings suggested that RPN2 potentiated P-gp- and ABCG2-mediated MDR via activating MEK/ERK pathway in GC, hinting the critical values of RPN2 in ameliorating MDR and providing a promising target for GC therapy.

Traditional Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) faces significant limitations such as unclear congestion implication, low utilization in high-speed networks, unstable throughput and limited fairness. In order to overcome such limitations, numerous research works have been done in effective congestion control algorithms. Among these, Variable-structure congestion Control Protocol (VCP) leverages only the existing two explicit congestion notification bits for network congestion feedback, yet achieves high utilization, low persistent queue length, negligible packet loss rate and reasonable fairness. However, VCP converges to fairness relatively slowly due to its large multiplicative decrease parameter. To address this problem, we propose an end-host based method for fast fairness convergence, namely VCP-FFC (VCP with fast fairness convergence). In each Additive Increase and Multiplicative Decrease (AIMD) epoch, VCP-FFC estimates a fair rate in end-hosts, and adjusts the congestion window according to the fair rate to achieve fast fairness convergence. We evaluate the performance of VCP-FFC over a wide range of network scenarios using NS2. Simulation Results show that VCP-FFC not only maintains the good properties of VCP, but also significantly accelerates fairness convergence. Dynamic analysis shows that VCP-FFC is asymptotically stable and converges to a unique stationary point, i.e. the fair rate share.

The extracts of Phellodendron amurense (P. amurense) have been shown to contain many active ingredients e.g. flavone glycosides and to exert a wide range of physiological activities including anti-tumor activity. However, the effects of phellamurin (Phe), a plant flavonone glycoside from the leaves of P. amurense, on osteosarcoma (OS) have never been reported. The effects of Phe on cell viability and apoptosis were evaluated by MTT assay and flow cytometry analysis, respectively. Western blot analysis was performed to detect the protein levels of phosphorylated phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase (PI3K) (p-PI3K), phosphorylated protein kinase B (AKT) (p-AKT), AKT, phosphorylated mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) (p-mTOR), and mTOR. We found that Phe suppressed the viability and promoted apoptosis in OS cells in a dose-dependent manner. Notably, Phe repressed the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway in OS cells. LY294002 effectively inhibited the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, repressed cell viability and induced apoptosis in OS cells. Activation of PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway by 740Y-P abolished the effects of Phe on the viability and apoptosis of OS cells. We also found that Phe repressed OS tumor growth and inhibited the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway in vivo. In conclusion, Phe suppressed the viability and induced apoptosis in OS cells, at least, partially by inhibiting the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway. Our study suggested that Phe might be a new and potential chemotherapeutic agent for the treatment of OS.

Increasingly, malicious Android apps use various methods to steal private user data without their knowledge. Detecting the leakage of private data is the focus of mobile information security. An initial investigation found that none of the existing security analysis systems can track the flow of information through Unix domain sockets to detect the leakage of private data through such sockets, which can result in zero-day exploits in the information security field. In this paper, we conduct the first systematic study on Unix domain sockets as applied in Android apps. Then, we identify scenarios in which such apps can leak private data through Unix domain sockets, which the existing dynamic taint analysis systems do not catch. Based on these insights, we propose and implement JDroid, a taint analysis system that can track information flows through Unix domain sockets effectively to detect such privacy leaks.
