Residents' educational expectations for the next generation are closely related to individuals' awareness‐raising and community development, reflecting the sustainability of tourism development. However, few studies have focused on the formation of parental educational expectations (PEE) for their children during the process of residents' tourism participation. To fill this gap, this study examines the impact of resident participation on PEE using a three‐dimensional framework for resident participation that incorporates the decision‐making, economic, and social dimensions. A binary logistic regression was employed to analyze the survey data from 473 residents in Jiuzhai Valley, China. The results indicate that social participation is the strongest facilitator for PEE. Economic participation exerts a negative effect on PEE, whereas decision‐making participation has a positive but insignificant effect. This study holds implications for local authorities managing tourism destinations regarding improving the efficiency of residents' participatory behaviors and human capital accumulation in developing countries. Modified montmorillonite has been widely used for the adsorption of heavy metal Cd(II), but there are few studies on the preparation of adsorbents that are easy to recover and can be efficiently adsorbed. In this paper, magnetic S-MFe2O4/MMT (M=Fe, Zn) composites with huge specific surface multi-class functional groups were prepared on montmorillonite loaded with Zn and S doubly-modified Fe3O4 to explore its performance in Cd(II)-contamination, to reveal the removal mechanism of Cd contamination, and to evaluate the stabilization effect of S-MFe2O4/MMT (M=Fe, Zn). The results showed that the optimum adsorption pH of S-ZnFe2O4/MMT for single Cd(II) was 6.0, the maximum adsorption was 56.68 mg·g−1, and the adsorption process was by the quasi-secondary kinetic model and Langmuir isothermal adsorption model. In addition, the effects of the coexistence of Cr3+, Ni2+, and Pb2+ on the adsorption performance of Cd(II) were not significant, and the adsorption of Cd(II) remained above 55.70 mg·g−1 and showed better adsorption of Pb2+ (98.20 mg·g−1) and Cr3+ (92.78 mg·g−1). Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are harmful to the environment and human health. A simple method was developed for the determination of 58 POPs, including 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), 18 polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and 24 organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), in atmospheric gaseous and particle-phase samples. Different extraction solvents, solid-phase extraction (SPE) cartridges and elution steps were used and compared to optimize the extraction efficiency. The POPs were isolated from the atmospheric samples by Soxhlet extraction using 1:1 acetone:n-hexane and separated using SPE cartridges. The fractions were collected by two-step elution with10 mL of n-hexane and 10 mL of 1:1 n-hexane:dichloromethane. The method validation showed that PAHs, PCBs and OCPs had good linearity, with the coefficients of determination higher than 0.995, from 2.5 to 800, 2.5 to 800, and 2.5 to 600 ng/mL, respectively. The average recoveries were 67–117%, 67–113%, and 73–114% for the PAHs, PCBs, and OCPs. The limits of detection for PAHs, PCBs, and OCPs were from 0.55 to 3.29, 0.09 to 2.00, and 0.57 to 4.86 pg/m3. The limits of quantification (LOQs) for PAHs, PCBs and OCPs were 1.80 to 10.48, 0.29 to 6.37, and 1.82 to 15.48 pg/m3. The applicability of the method was confirmed using an urban dust standard reference material. The method was employed for the analysis of atmospheric samples collected weekly for one-half year on the rooftop of a 14 m tall building in the downtown Mianyang, Sichuan, China.
