In the drylands of the municipality of Castellón de la Plana, located in the north and west of the city, there are three plots of land formed by a series of parallel roads located at close intervals known as "quadres". Although they were initially considered a possible Roman subdivision, the known documentation allows them to be dated to the beginning of the 14th century. Its great extension means that it can be considered as the most important so far studied among the Valencian medieval plots. For the same reasons, these interventions carried out with the aim of ordering the agricultural space in a regular way, have left a lasting imprint on the rural landscape of this city, today unfortunately disfigured by important urban transformations.
