Antidumping has become an important instrument of trade policy in recent years. Turkey has also become increasingly important user of this instrument since 1989. This paper investigates the effects of macroeconomic factors on the use of antidumping investigations in Turkey from 1997 to 2017. For this purpose, a Negative Binomial Regression Model is used to investigate the macroeconomic causes of antidumping investigations. The results suggest that antidumping investigations were significantly affected by macroeconomic variables, particularly import share rate. The paper concludes that Turkey's antidumping investigations have been used for protection from international trade instead of establishing fair trade. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
