The potential of inclusive medical technological innovations to create access to affordable and appropriate products and services for local healthcare systems in developing countries has emerged as a critical area of academic and policy debates. This research contributes to these debates by studying the key factors, actors and their interactions influencing the development and adoption of three innovative diagnostic devices to resolve the healthcare needs of the local population in the Indian healthcare systems. It highlights the critical role of the state in influencing the development and adoption of inclusive MedTech innovations in resource-constraint settings. It further reveals that the availability of finance facilitated the early-stage development of innovations. At the same time, collaborative arrangements with a diverse set of stakeholders contributed to late-stage development and adoption of innovations in the local healthcare systems. This research also expands on the conceptualization of inclusivity in the MedTech sector by providing a holistic interpretation of affordability as reducing healthcare costs over a longer period through access to early diagnostics rather than the purchase cost of a product. These research findings have significant implications for innovation and healthcare policies that can help to resolve the challenges of accessible healthcare in developing countries. In low-middle income countries, industrial development is essential in driving economic growth, improving social progress, and creating employment to alleviate poverty. This study used the time series of night-time light (NTL) from 2000 to 2020 to assess the industrial park growth and its impact on poverty reduction at the village level. The emerging hotspot analysis has been used to identify the space-time pattern of night-time light data over the study period. Our study reveals that industrial parks keep growing and generate new neighbourhood growth. NTL growth patterns and Gross Provincial Product (GPP) are significantly correlated. Also, the multidimensional poverty index (MPI) increases with the distance from industrial park areas. Conclusively, using space-time data mining with NTL time series data can help the local government understand and monitor industrial growth at a low cost. The NTL data is a suitable proxy indicator for studying human activities and solving the incomplete and discontinued dataset. A further study utilizing the time series NTL data is still beneficial for developing countries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Dendrobium officinale Kimura & Migo (D. officinale) is a well-recognized traditional Chinese medicinal herb that is both medicinal and edible. Contemporary pharmacological studies have revealed that D. officinale contains abundant bioactive compounds, including polysaccharides, flavonoids, alkaloids, and dendrobine, exhibiting diverse pharmacological properties such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory effects. However, the industrial application of D. officinale faces many problems, such as the scarcity of wild resources, low natural reproduction rate, and slow growth rate as well as the lack of relevant industrial standards. Nevertheless, substantial advancements, including the exploitation of artificial propagation techniques and breeding of new varieties, have been achieved in recent years. These developments have effectively addressed the challenges associated with its low natural reproduction rate and the scarcity of wild resources. This review summarizes the progress in the industrial development, seedling cultivation, and pharmacological exploration of D. officinale in recent years. Furthermore, it analyzes current research inadequacies and offers strategic solutions to enhance its application in healthcare and medicine. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Demanding, competitive business dynamics drive organisations to continually evaluate and adopt automation in their structural setups, particularly warehouses, for growth and profitability. Industry 4.0 technologies are revolutionising warehouse operations, resulting in cost savings, increased efficiency, and a more environmentally friendly approach for businesses. The readiness of organisations to adopt these technologies is evaluated with the help of hard and soft determinants selected through a theoretical framework of Technology–Organisation-Environment (TOE). In this study, a unique method is used that combines the Modified Delphi method, content validity for scale validation, expert opinion consensus tests for agreement, ranking determinants using the Best Worst Method (BWM), and rank validation through sensitivity analysis for warehousing industry experts and organisations. Warehouse service providers who convert their warehouses into smart modes to serve fast-moving consumer goods companies in Tier-2 cities are chosen for the structural framework. Results present the role of the 'operational efficiency of technology', 'top management', 'employee's education', and 'technical background' as the most effective driving determinants. This research provides valuable information to researchers and managers trying to upgrade their warehouse into a smart warehouse. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Many studies examined the association between gross domestic production (GDP) and environmental pollution to test the inverted U-shaped environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis for varied country groups. Although it has useful implications for achieving a climate–neutral world economy, the exploration of the relationship is yet limited for oil-rich economies. On the other hand, the ambiguity of the available EKC evidence addresses the consideration of other pillars of economic development. Therefore, this paper tests the EKC hypothesis comparatively in the separate non-linear effects of financial and industrial development, as well as the traditional GDP-based economic development, on per capita fossil carbon dioxide (CO
2 ) emissions for the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) bloc. Financial development is proxied by the financial institutions development index, industrial development is measured by per capita industry value-added, and traditional economic development is indicated by per capita GDP. The trade, financial, social, and political dimensions of globalization are also incorporated as control variables in these three models. The paper applies the cross-sectionally augmented autoregressive distributed lag (CS-ARDL) estimator to a dataset from ten OPEC members over the 1980–2019 period. The results clearly contradict the EKC hypothesis and reveal rather a persistent U-shaped pattern for all models in both the short-run and the long-run. In addition, financial globalization is negatively associated and political globalization is positively associated with CO2 emissions. The paper discusses how such oil–rich countries as OPEC may decouple economic growth, financial development, and industrialization trajectories from environmental pollution induced by fossil CO2 emissions. Industrial development is an important part of economic and social development, and a stable pattern of water resource security can meet the needs of economic and social development. Therefore, correctly handling the relationship between industrial development and water resource security in China is the key to achieving high-quality development. This paper takes 287 prefecturelevel cities in China from 2010 to 2019 as the research object, establishes the evaluation index system of industrial development and water resource security, calculates the comprehensive index of industrial development and water resource security by the entropy weight method, and analyzes the spatiotemporal evolution trend of the two by using the coupling coordination degree model. The results show that the degree of coupling coordination between industrial development and water resource security in China shows an overall upward trend from 2010 to 2019. Optimizing the industrial structure and promoting industrial transformation and upgrading can effectively improve the coupling coordination level between industrial development and water resource security, and the degree of industrial development threatening water resource security is stronger than the degree of water resource security restricting industrial development. The research conclusion has important practical significance for optimizing industrial structure and implementing regional differentiation policy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract Urbanization is occurring at an unprecedented rate in developing countries like Ethiopia, especially with the rapid growth of industrialization. However, this urbanization and industrial development surge puts immense pressure on preparing and implementing city spatial plans. Urban spatial planning plays a crucial role in shaping the development of cities, aiming to create livable and sustainable urban development. The plan-making process and its subsequent implementation often encounter challenges that hinder the realization of planned objectives. Galan and Dukem, cities near Addis Ababa’s capital, have seen substantial industrial investment in recent decades. This article explores the challenges associated with urban spatial planning and industrial development while proposing alternative approaches. The paper relies on information gathered from primary and secondary sources, including expert surveys and key informants’ interviews. The research highlights that industrial developments have led to significant and uncontrolled changes in urban land use and urbanization in the study areas. Due to the lack of clear planning guidelines and institutional capacity, the study cities are experiencing haphazard development without effective urban spatial plans. Proximity to Addis Ababa has driven the urbanization process through increased investments. The article contends that effective management of urbanization and industrialization can create enjoyable living conditions and foster job growth. Macroeconomic policies, including industrial policies, should pay attention to spatial elements and prevent policy-making processes that are “space-blind”. This, however, requires clairvoyance and a high level of expertise, integrating inputs from advocacy planning and community participation to bridge gaps and ensure effective urban spatial plans and industrialization processes.

Abstract Background Early childhood caries (ECC) is a global public health challenge that requires innovation, infrastructure, and health system influences to bolster initiatives for its management and control. The aim of this scoping review was to investigate the published evidence on the association between ECC and the targets of the Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG9) concerned with industry, innovation, and infrastructure development. Methods The scoping review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) guidelines. A search was conducted in PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus between July and August 2023 using a search strategy related to the promotion of resilient infrastructure, sustainable industries, scientific research and innovation, access to the internet and ECC. Only English language publications were included. Studies that solely examined ECC without reference to the SDG9 targets were excluded. Results The search yielded 933 studies for review. After screening for the eligibility and removing duplicates, 916 unique articles remained for further screening. However, none of the identified studies provided data on the association between resilient infrastructure, sustainable industries, scientific research and innovation, access to the internet and ECC. Conclusion There were no primary studies that assessed the association between ECC and SDG9, even though the plausibility of a potential relationship exists. Future studies are needed to generate evidence on the link between ECC and SDG9 as this link may contribute to the reduction in the proportion of children with untreated ECC.

Offshore wind has developed significantly over the past decade, and promising new markets are emerging, such as Brazil, South Africa, India, Poland, and Turkey. As logistic transport activities increase complexities, developing regional supply chains can help to reduce costs and enhance the sector's competitiveness. This article proposes a framework for the industrial development of the offshore wind supply chain in new markets. This study is grounded in a systematic literature review and is validated through a multi-case study, identifying key variables and factors influencing industrial growth. Adopting a process-based approach, factors and variables were modeled into a framework, encompassing the following four phases: (1) demand assessment of a new sector, (2) sectorial and industrial planning, (3) industrial development and maturity, and (4) sectorial and industrial renewal or decline. Each phase brings together a group of policies. Our findings show the policies' interrelations. These results complement the few studies that have examined the industrial development process, providing a clear guide as to the process for the development of the offshore wind industry in specific regions. Thus, the framework provides elements that contribute as a valuable tool to the debate, structuring, and development of public policies for the industrial development of a new sector. Despite growing efforts and encouraging successes in recent decades, fully formally verified projects are still rare in the industrial landscape. The industry often lacks the tools and methodologies to efficiently scale the proof development process. In this work, we give a comprehensible overview of the proof development process for proof developers and project managers. The goal is to support proof developers by rationalizing the proof development process, which currently relies heavily on their intuition and expertise, and by facilitating communication with the management line. To this end, we concentrate on the aspect of proof manufacturing and highlight the most significant sources of proof effort. We propose means to mitigate the latter through proof practices (proof structuring, proof strategies, and proof planning), proof metrics, and tools. Our approach is project-agnostic, independent of specific proof expertise, and computed estimations do not assume prior similar developments. We evaluate our guidelines using a separation kernel undergoing formal verification, driving the proof process in an optimised way. Feedback from a project manager unfamiliar with proof development confirms the benefits of detailed planning of the proof development steps, clear progress communication to the hierarchy line, and alignment with established practices in the software industry. Analysing the coordination and spatial spillover effects between industrial development and environmental protection is crucial for regional sustainable development. This paper examines the spatial and temporal evolution characteristics of the coupling coordination level between industrial development and environmental protection, as well as the evolution of the decoupling type within this system. under the evolution of the coupling coordination mode and decoupling model. Additionally, it analyzes the spatial spillover effects using the spatial panel vector autoregression model. The main conclusions are as follows: First, the coordination level between industrial development and environmental protection is increasing over time in each province. Second, the decoupling status of industrial development and environmental protection shows distinct stages, progressing towards strong decoupling over time. Third, regional industrial development has a positive spillover effect on both industrial development and environmental protection in neighbouring regions, whereas regional environmental protection has a negative spillover effect on industrial development but a positive spillover effect on environmental protection in neighbouring regions. This paper suggests that provinces should focus on the synchronisation industrial development and environmental protection and implement differentiated strategies based on their specific conditions. Additionally, joint management and governance should be pursued between neighbouring provinces. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study offers a comprehensive analysis of the current status and major challenges of the Malus doumeri industry in Guangxi and proposes suggestions for future development. A field investigation was conducted in five major M. doumeri producing regions of Guangxi, focusing on planting and processing-related cooperatives, enterprises, and local agricultural and rural bureaus. The survey indicators include the planting area, harvesting area, production volume, sales price, sales methods, product processing, and brand development of M. doumeri. The investigation and analysis concluded that M. doumeri. production in Guangxi is primarily intended for local consumption and the export of fresh products. The processing industry mainly focuses on primary processing and produces a variety of products, including hawthorn slices, vinegar, wine, pickles, cakes, flour, and hawthorn preserves. The M. doumeri industry in Guangxi is currently facing numerous difficulties and challenges. These include the lack of high-quality varieties, significant yield inconsistencies, inadequate investment in scientific research, the prevalence of severe diseases and pests such as skin-bursting disease, limited research and development by processing and leading enterprises, weak brand awareness, and insufficient promotional efforts. The comprehensive analysis of the aforementioned indicators proposed targeted suggestions for the development of M. doumeri industry. These suggestions include strengthening policy support and improving the construction of demonstration bases; establishing professional, scientific research teams and enhancing scientific and technological cooperation with colleges and universities; actively developing the hawthorn processing industry and extending the industry's processing chain; enhancing brand development and advertising; and promoting the regional characteristics of the brand. These measures aim to provide direction for the sustainable development of the M. doumeri industry in Guangxi. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ARONIA ,INCOMPLETE markets ,INDUSTRIALIZATION ,BRAND identification ,NUTRITIONAL value - Abstract
Due to its unique flavor, extremely high nutritional value, and health functions, Aronia has great development and utilization prospects. To fill the gap of incomplete market research in the Aronia industry in China and promote the development of the Chinese Aronia industry, this article retrieved Aronia-related companies through Tianyan Data. Results showed that the number of market entities engaged in the Aronia industry in China had been increasing year by year in the past 20 years, reaching growth peaks in 2016 and 2018, respectively. From the perspective of spatial distribution, Liaoning (32.89%), Jilin (18.86%), and Shandong (16.23%) were its main operating regions. Most enterprises (55%) had a registered capital of less than 5 million yuan, with a minority of Aronia enterprises owning trademarks (26.64%) and patents (10.48%). Until 2022, a total of 178 Aronia enterprises in China were in a state of survival and normal operation, with 50 being cancelled, revoked, rescinded, and dissolved. Currently, the main problems faced by the industry included a relatively single variety and cultivation mode, a low level of product deep processing, and insufficient brand recognition and effectiveness. At present, the domestic Aronia industry in China is still in its infancy. It is necessary to call on enterprises to integrate planting, processing, and sales, enrich product categories, develop new products, build leading enterprises, and improve the establishment of related industries. Background: Early childhood caries (ECC) is a global public health challenge that requires innovation, infrastructure, and health system influences to bolster initiatives for its management and control. The aim of this scoping review was to investigate the published evidence on the association between ECC and the targets of the Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG9) concerned with industry, innovation, and infrastructure development. Methods: The scoping review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) guidelines. Results: The search yielded 933 studies for review. After screening for the eligibility and removing duplicates, 916 unique articles remained for further screening. However, none of the identified studies provided data on the association between resilient infrastructure, sustainable industries, scientific research and innovation, access to the internet and ECC. Conclusion: There were no primary studies that assessed the association between ECC and SDG9, even though the plausibility of a potential relationship exists. Future studies are needed to generate evidence on the link between ECC and SDG9 as this link may contribute to the reduction in the proportion of children with untreated ECC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The objective of the article is to present the results of research on the construction of cross-border mega-regions, specifically Cali-Baja, based on their nature and role in industrial development linked to global production networks, which promotes economic complementarity, and despite the process of corporatization that occurred at some point, the territorial dynamics itself prevailed. In methodological terms, semi-structured interviews were applied to key actors and information generated from other tools such as focus groups was recovered. It is concluded that the construction of the mega-regions located along the U.S.-Mexico border is the result of multiple factors, but ends up being a social construction of those who inhabit and live in the region. The article examines the attitude of the population of the Sadyn national Evenk nasleg of the Mirninskiy district of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) to industrial development. The source for the study was the author’s field material collected as part of the ethnological environmental impact assessment; in particular, a sociological study that included questionnaire survey, expert and group interviews. The results of the study showed that the majority of the population has a negative attitude to the industrial development. Their concerns are related to the deterioration of the environmental situation and the reduction of land suitable for traditional farming and crafts. As a consequence, respondents are confident that the oil and gas exploration project in the territory of the nasleg will either have no effect on their social status and the nature of their work or will worsen their well-being. Positive expectations from the project are primarily related to the organization of new jobs and the improvement of the village. Respondents believe that the compensation of losses provided for by the ethnological expertise should be focused on each resident of the village. First of all, funds should be allocated for the construction of social facilities, training and employment of the youth of the village. Compensation payments should be annual. The research is aimed at solving social issues related to the industrial development of places of traditional residence of indigenous peoples. Recommendations in the search for compromise solutions are given.

- Abstract
The foundation for ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin lies in the rational development of industry. This study systematically analyzes the current state of industrial development in the Yellow River Basin, examining traditional industries, strategic emerging industries, and future industries. Based on this analysis, it identifies key issues and development directions. The study reveals that the industrial structure in the Yellow River Basin is unreasonable; traditional industries have short chains and high energy consumption; the cultivation of strategic emerging industries is inadequate and poorly aligned; and comprehensive planning for future industries is inadequate. Therefore, it is imperative to systematically optimize the industrial structure in the Yellow River Basin, promote the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, accelerate the cultivation of strategic emerging industries through technological innovation, and plan the development of future industries from a holistic perspective. This approach will enhance the momentum and vitality necessary for advancing ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, contributing to a new chapter in the western development. CLIMATE change , *CLIMATE change adaptation , *INDUSTRIALIZATION , *ECONOMIC models , *KUZNETS curve , *CLIMATE sensitivity , *FOOD industry - Abstract
In a context marked by an upsurge in the scale of climate change and its consequences in Africa, this article explores ways to increase the resilience of African economies. It aims to analyze the effect of industrialization on the continent's vulnerability to climate change (VCC). The sample used for this purpose consists of 41 African countries from 2010 to 2021. A dynamic panel model is estimated using the system generalized method of moments. Results show that industrialization reduces the VCC in African countries. It reduces their sensitivity to climate change while increasing their adaptive capacity. Furthermore, results show that industrialization is more likely to reduce the VCC in sectors such as ecosystems, habitat, health, and infrastructures whereas it increases vulnerability to climate change in the food and water sectors. The results, however, reject the environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis between industrialization and VCC. These results are robust to the change in industrialization measures. Therefore, African countries would benefit from pursuing their industrial development through greater use of renewable energy. This can help them to sustainably reduce their VCC. In addition, they need to implement specific measures to adapt to climate change in the food and water sectors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

INDUSTRIAL expansion , *INDUSTRIALIZATION , *INTERNATIONAL trade - Abstract
China has made great achievements in industrial development and is transforming into a powerful manufacturing country. Meanwhile, the industrial land scale is also expanding. However, whether industrial structure upgrading achieves the purpose of restraining industrial land expansion remains unanswered. By calculating the industrial land structure index (ILSI) and industrial land expansion scale (ILES), this study analyzed their temporal and spatial distribution characteristics at both regional and city levels from 2007 to 2020 in China. Results show that industrial land expansion presents a different trend in the four regions, the ILES in the eastern region is the largest, and the speed of industrial land expansion has declined since 2013, but it has gradually increased since 2016. The ILSI of the eastern and central regions is higher than that of the western and northeastern regions. Furthermore, a spatial Durbin model (SDM) has been established to estimate the spatial effect of industrial structure upgrading on industrial land expansion from 2007 to 2020. Notably, industrial structure upgrading has not slowed industrial land expansion. The eastern and western regions require a greater amount of industrial land while upgrading the industrial structure. The improvement of the infrastructure level and international trade level has promoted industrial land expansion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
