This study examined Physical Education Pre-Service Teachers' (PSTs) perceptions of their teaching from constructivist teaching practices and their variation among PSTs' responses when aggregated by sex, teaching practices curriculum, extension project, and university type. The sample consisted of 869 Physical Education PSTs from Brazil (female = 399 and male = 470). Data were collected through an online form and modeled using Bayesian multilevel ordinal regression analysis. Our results showed that there was substantial variation in perceptions about constructivist teaching practices by the teaching practices curriculum during graduation and small variation by sex and participation in extension projects. The present study highlights that Brazilian PSTs in Physical Education tended to perceive their teaching oriented to constructivist practices. Furthermore, there is a need to consider student-, curriculum-, and contextual-level factors in the intention to adopt constructivist teaching practices in games and sports. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to investigate the perception of trainers on official football courses regarding the development of leadership knowledge and competencies in coaches' teaching learning process. Understanding the Union of European Football Association trainers' perception of the importance and role of leadership knowledge and competencies in football is fundamental in order to raise the quality in preparing future coaches. A qualitative approach was adopted by conducting semi-structured interviews with Union of European Football Association trainers in Portugal. The data were subject to content analysis using NVivo software; the following three dimensions of leadership were observed: knowledge, training, and competencies. The results revealed that trainers recognise the importance of the three dimensions analysed, emphasising the relevance of leadership competencies in improving coaches' interventions. The trainers also highlighted the need for coaches to develop effective communication skills, the capacity to make decisions under pressure, and interpersonal skills to lead football teams efficiently. In addition, they reinforced the importance of coaches' continuous training, encouraging them to seek learning opportunities in this field of knowledge. They suggest that coaches must be able to adapt to different contexts and learn from practical experience. Growing evidence supports that early sport specialization in children and adolescents may compromise long-term athlete development and high-performance acquisition. This study aimed to determine the presence of specialised shooting roles in formative men's basketball players compared to professionals. Data from shot charts of U14 and professional basketball players during the 2020–21 and 2021–22 seasons were retrieved. Shooting zones were classified by machine learning and clustering analyses. Shooting patterns were defined as extreme field goal attempts (FGA%) from a particular shooting zone. Players who exhibited an outlier shooting pattern were considered specialists. U14 basketball players described singular shooting patterns that largely differed from professionals' requirements (p < 0.001, ES = 0.51). U14 players lacked shooting versatility (2.3% vs. 36.3%) and 3-point shooting ability (1.8 vs. 17.2%). In contrast, the professional competition was characterised by having either versatile players without specialisation (62.7%) or one-zone specialist shooters accumulating most of their %FGA in one court zone (38%). These findings suggested that increasing shooting versatility or becoming a one-zone specialist shooter could significantly impact the development and progression of young basketball players in the long term. Current formative basketball training approaches should be revised accordingly to enhance shooting skills and promote the development of polyvalent players. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Motivational regulation is a determining factor for adherence to physical activity. Therefore, this study investigated the influence of sociodemographic variables, such as sex, age and educational level, as well as the duration and frequency of weekly physical activity, on the motivational regulations of fitness centre users. A total of 500 users (58.70% women and 41.30% men) from public and private fitness centres participated in the study. Motivational regulations were measured using the Behavioural Regulation in Exercise Questionnaire. This instrument obtained an adequate model fit and reliability after the calculation of the Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Cronbach's Alpha coefficient, respectively. The Kruskal–Wallis H test was calculated to determinate the differences between groups, using the Bonferroni correction. The highest scores were recorded for identified (M = 3.50; SD = 0.64), intrinsic (M = 3.33; SD = 0.83) and integrated (M = 2.95; SD = 1.06) regulations. There were no significant differences in motivational regulations according to sex. However, there were significant differences according to age, educational level, seniority in physical activity practice and weekly practice time. Therefore, users who had been in the fitness centres longer scored higher in intrinsic, integrated and identified regulations. Moreover, integrated and identified regulations were greater when the frequency of weekly fitness increased. Fitness centres and trainers should be aware of users' physical activity motives and guide them toward more self-determined regulation that promotes sport adherence and health, especially for newer users. The study of declarative and procedural knowledge in sport allows us to assess students' tactical learning processes. The aim of this study was to analyze and compare the level of declarative and procedural knowledge acquired by students according to the pedagogical model and gender, after the application of two intervention programs for an alternative invasion sport, "Rosquilla". This study involved 136 students distributed into six groups of Primary Education (fifth and sixth year) and Secondary Education (first year). Each group in the same year participated in a different intervention program, one based on the Game-Centered Model and the other on a hybrid model of the Game-Centered Model and the Sports Education Model. A descriptive analysis was carried out to determine the characteristics of the participants. Subsequently, an independent samples Mann–Whitney U-test was applied to compare the level of knowledge between the models and genders in the pre- and post-test periods. A Linear Mixed Model was used to analyze the level of knowledge of students within each group and compare them according to methodology and gender. The results indicate that both programs generated improvements in declarative and procedural knowledge. Therefore, students learn equally regardless of the methodological perspective and gender. Rice production remains highly dependent on nitrogen (N). There is no positive linear correlation between N concentration and yield in rice cultivation because an excess of N can unbalance the distribution of photo-assimilates in the plant and consequently produce a lower yield. We intended to study these imbalances. Remote sensing is a useful tool for monitoring rice crops. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of using remote sensing to assess the impact of N applications on rice crop behavior. An experiment with three different doses (120, 170 and 220 kg N·ha−1) was carried out over two years (2021 and 2022) in Valencia, Spain. Biomass, Leaf Area Index (LAI), plants per m2, yield, N concentration and N uptake were determined. Moreover, reflectance values in the green, red, and NIR bands of the Sentinel-2 satellite were acquired. The two data matrices were merged in a correlation study and the resulting interpretation ended in a protocol for the evaluation of the N effect during the main phenological stages. The positive effect of N on the measured parameters was observed in both years; however, in the second year, the correlations with the yield were low, being attributed to a complex interaction with climatic conditions. Yield dependence on N was optimally evaluated and monitored with Sentinel-2 data. Two separate relationships between NIR–red and NDVI–NIR were identified, suggesting that using remote sensing data can help enhance rice crop management by adjusting nitrogen input based on plant nitrogen concentration and yield estimates. Handball is a team sport characterised by physical interaction with other opponents. This interaction produces a high load on the players that can manifest itself in various ways, from discomfort to prolonged injuries due to tears caused by excessive load. In order to establish correct protocols for application in women's teams, context- and gender-specific reference data must be available. For this reason, the present research aims to find out how women's teams in European competitions prepare for decisive matches during the match week, analysing the load in a segmented way and the level of specificity that should be achieved in training. Ex post facto research was used in which a total of 17 players belonging to a women's first division handball team in Spain participated. The variables player load and impacts extracted from the use of Wimu ProTM inertial devices were analysed. The results showed a high neuromuscular load in players at this competitive level, especially in the variable impacts, reaching values per session of up to 1000 impacts. The individuality analyses show that the load varies significantly depending on the subject, which is why it is considered essential to establish protocols for strength work and load control in the most specific way possible. Research on sports training is carried out in numerous countries. However, the majority is carried out with athletes who have reached the elite of the sport, observing gaps in the analysis of the training process of athletes in the final phase of training and in transition to the adult categories. This study aimed to explore basketball players' perspectives on their engagement in physical and sporting activities, considering their motivation levels, weekly frequency of participation, and additional physical activities undertaken during their training. A mixed methods research (MMR) approach was employed, using a sequential explanatory strategy. First, a quantitative study was performed with Brazilian athletes aged 18 and 19 (n=141; 78.7% male, 21.3% female). Subsequently, 24 in-depth qualitative interviews were carried out. Differences between age groups were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test and the association between qualitative variables was analyzed using the Chi2 test. Coding and analysis of qualitative data were guided by Thematic Analysis. The results showed that up to the age of 10, few athletes played basketball, and those who did pursued the sport for leisure. From the age of 11, most were already training systematically and at 13 they started participating in competitions. At the age of 15, the weekly training frequency increased significantly, as did the motivation to practice and the influence of school sports involvement in basketball, remaining high until the ages of 18 and 19. Following the Developmental Model of Sports Participation logic, the results obtained demonstrated that athletes have a sporting diversification until the age of 10, approximately from 11 to 14 years old they experience the specialization stage and at 15 they begin to dedicate themselves specifically to basketball. This study has the potential to significantly impact theory and practice, regarding MM research and the elements that influence athletes' personal engagement and, consequently, the youth sports system.
