U povijesti hrvatskoga planinarstva djelovanje Planinarskoga društva „Orljak“ iz Opatije (dalje: Društvo) slabo je poznato, no njegov četvrtstoljetni rad i zapažene aktivnosti na području Liburnije ukazuju na opravdanost dokumentiranja te važne epizode lokalne, regionalne, pa i nacionalne planinarske povjesnice. U ovome se članku stoga istražuje rad i djelovanje Društva od njegovih pretpočetaka u obliku Planinarskoga aktiva „Orljak“, koji djeluje u okviru Planinarskoga društva „Opatija“ (od 1980.), preko osnivanja samostalnoga Društva (1984.) te razdoblja rasta i intenzivna rada 1980-ih, postupna zamiranja 1990-ih i naposljetku nekoliko zabilježenih bljeskova značajnijih aktivnosti u početnome desetljeću 21. stoljeća. Rad se temelji na temeljitoj analizi dosad neobjavljenih arhivskih izvora iz nekoliko različitih fondova, a ti su podaci dopunjeni intervjuima s pojedincima koji su u određenome razdoblju bili aktivni članovi Društva te sekundarnom literaturom. Riječ je o dosad slabo poznatim podacima, čak i unutar planinarskih krugova, stoga se ovim istraživanjem nastoji ne samo spasiti od zaborava djelovanje jedne planinarske udruge nego i adekvatno valorizirati njezin rad kao trajno naslijeđe lokalne, regionalne i nacionalne (planinarske) povijesti., Activities of the “Orljak” Mountaineering Club from Opatija (hereinafter: the Club) are underrepresented in the history of Croatian mountaineering. However, a quarter of a century of existence and notable activities in Liburnia justify the need to document such an important episode in local, regional, and even national mountaineering history. This paper, therefore, explores work and activities of the Club from its earliest days in the form of “Orljak” Mountaineering Section within “Opatija” Mountaineering Club (as of 1980), the establishment of independent Club (1984), the period of growth and intensive activities in the 1980s, gradual fading out in the 1990s up to final notable activities in the first decade of the 21st century. The paper is based upon a thorough analysis of unpublished archival resources from several funds. This data is supplemented by interviews with people who were active members of the Club during a certain period, and with secondary literature. This data is little known, even within mountaineers’ circles; therefore, the objectives of this research are to save from oblivion the work and activities of a mountaineering club and to adequately valorise its work as a lasting heritage of local, regional, and national (mountaineering) history.

Despite the numerous works evaluating Fritz Jahr’s importance for bioethics, there is still a widespread practice at best to put his name in some of the footnotes. The similar practice is recognized in Italy and the full appreciation of his work – contrary to the reception of Van Rensselaer Potter’s work – is still to come. First part of this paper is concerned with the mentioned uncommendable practice as a main motive of the article. Second part shortly captures the main facts about life and work of Fritz Jahr. Third part is dedicated to summary of extensive work of Van Rensselaer Potter. Next part reveals the trends and practices in Italy concerning the reception of those two «fathers of bioethics» and delineate the lines of research based on their work. In conclusion the authors call for caution and attentive approach to history of bioethics because mixing those research lines could be at least deceptive if not completely unfruitful.

Iako je utjecaj klimatskih promjena na čovjeka i okoliš odavno poznat, manje se važnosti pridaje bolestima koje na epidemiološka vrata ulaze sporednim putem. Zoonoze tako spadaju u skupinu bolesti čiju sve veću pojavnost možemo povezati upravo s klimatskim promjenama i stvaranjem preduvjeta za njihovo širenje. Pregledom literature utvrđena je sve veća osvještenost glede potencijalnih posljedica moguće pojavnosti zoonoza uzrokovanih zatopljenjem na globalnoj razini, no usprkos tomu u Hrvatskoj takva istraživanja (još) nisu prepoznata. Pod hipotezom da klimatske promjene i globalno zatopljenje uzrokovano industrijskim onečišćenjem i antropogenim čimbenicima uzrokuju pojavnost zoonoza, nude se rješenja preventivnog karaktera, koja uz pravovremenu detekciju i epidemiološke intervencije nužno ne utječu na pojavnost zoonoza. Ono što je izglednije i nezanemarivo, jest činjenica da klimatske promjene stvaraju preduvjete za različite puteve prijenosa i širenje zoonoza što bi, ako se negativan trend globalnog zatopljenja nastavi, moglo s vremenom utjecati na njihovu incidenciju i prevalenciju – svakako i u Hrvatskoj – što iz javnozdravstvenog prerasta u globalni okolišnoetički problem., Although the impact of climate change on humans and the environment has long been known, less importance is given to diseases that enter the epidemiological gateway by secondary means. Zoonoses thus belong to a group of diseases whose increasing incidence can be associated with climate change and the creation of conditions for their spread.This review of the literature revealed a growing awareness of the potential consequences of the possible occurrence of zoonoses caused by global warming, but despite this in Croatia such research were not recognized (yet).With the hypothesis that climate change and global warming caused by industrial pollution and anthropogenic factors may cause a higher incidence of zoonoses, preventive solutions are offered which, with timely detection and epidemiological interventions, do not necessarily affect the occurrence of zoonoses.What is more likely that we should not neglect is that climate change creates preconditions for different routes of transmission and spread of zoonoses, which, if the negative trend of global warming continues, could eventually affect incidence and prevalence of zoonoses – certainly in Croatia as well which from a public health problem outgrow into a global environmental-ethical problem.

Katedra Čakavskoga sabora Lovran nastala je s jasnim ciljem početka sustavnoga rada na valorizaciji bogate kulturno‑povijesne baštine Lovrana i njegove bliže okolice, Lovranšćine. U ovom radu daje se pregled aktivnosti Katedre u njezinu prvom desetljeću (2009.–2019.) rada kojim se taj cilj ostvarivao. Naglasak je stavljen prvenstveno na znanstvenu valorizaciju spomenute baštine kroz dvije kontinuirane aktivnosti, znanstvene skupove i publikaciju znanstvenog časopisa Zbornik Lovranšćine, te na bogatu izdavačku produkciju kojom se Katedra prometnula u predvodnika izdavaštva na Liburniji. Ocjenjuje se Katedrin rad kroz obranu teze da je Katedra sustavno, temeljito i kontinuirano radila na valorizaciji kulturno‑povijesne baštine Lovrana i Lovranšćine posve uspješno ostvarujući svoje početne ciljeve. Zaključno se osvrćemo na to da je takvim radom Katedra vrlo vjerojatno uvelike nadmašila početna očekivanja svojih utemeljitelja prometnuvši se u uzor znanstvenog rada jedne udruge i, općenito, uzor sustavne izdavačke politike u nekoliko područja: od znanstvenog preko publicističkog do književnog, u kojemu se ističe na regionalnoj, pa čak i nacionalnoj razini., The Chair of the Čakavian Parliament in Lovran has been established with the clear goal of starting the systematic work on the valorization of the rich cultural and historical heritage of Lovran and its immediate surroundings, Lovranšćina (Lovran region). This paper provides an overview of the activities of the Chair in its first decade of work (2009-2019) by which this goal was achieved. The emphasis has been placed primarily on the scientific valorization of the mentioned heritage through two continuous activities: scientific conferences and the publication of the scientific journal Zbornik Lovranšćine, and the rich publishing production with which the Chair has become the leading publishing institution in the Liburnia area. The Chair’s work is evaluated through the confirmation of the thesis that the Chair has systematically, thoroughly, and continuously worked on valorizing the cultural and historical heritage of Lovran and Lovranšćina, successfully achieving its initial goals. Finally, we conclude that, with such work, the Chair has probably by far exceeded its founders’ initial expectations, becoming a model of scientific work of a civic association and generally a model of systematic publishing policy in several areas: from scientific over journalistic to literary, in which the Chair stands out on a regional and even a national level.

The COVID-19 pandemic has put every contemporary society in front of various challenges. While those are often reflected and explained through economic, political or medical lenses, it seems that thorough ethical and bioethical insights are too rarely exposed and made explicit. This article tries to contribute to the neglected sphere of interconnection and interrelatedness of basic moral values and general, primarily public health, challenges. Moreover, it will be argued that by deeply disrespectful behaviour of chief institutions and inappropriate communication to the overall community (citizens) the value of elementary trust and respectfulness has been eroded, betrayed, and consequently brings to the plethora of economic, political, medical, and other challenges and troubles. The key argument is that the effectiveness of the public health measures is primarily rooted in stable and publicly communicated basic values, such as life and health, but the stability and communication of those values lays mostly in moral values such as trust, respect, fairness etc. One of the most important lessons this pandemic could give the humanity is the almost self-evident, but often forgotten insight, that moral values are the necessary glue of all values needed for functional society (and generally functional global community on Earth). The examples will be taken from the Croatian example of social, political, and institutional confrontation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Spanish flu, one of the worst epidemics in history, appeared in 1918, on the eve of the end of the World War I. The characteristic of the epidemic on the territory of the city of Rijeka has been poorly studied. Certainly, the lack of primary sources, such as hospital registries, have made the understanding of the incidence and the course of the epidemic in the city more difficult. Therefore, the death certificates have emerged as the main primary source. The purpose of this paper is to explore and describe mortality caused by the (Spanish) flu during 1918 and at the beginning of 1919, using the death registers of those who lived in the area of the city center and the surrounding parishes. The results of the Spanish flu mortality research in the area of Rijeka are compared to the Spanish flu specific mortality on the territory of the three parishes situated in the wider area of Rijeka – Brseč, Mošćenice and Lovran. The elucidation of the characteristics of the Spanish flu epidemic and its impact on the quotidian life in the city of Rijeka is possible through the analysis of daily newspapers as well. In this paper, we have explored such articles in the La Bilancia, Rijeka’s newspaper published in Italian.

Mountaineering encompasses a vast number of practices ancl it is becoming an umbrella term for a set of human outdoor practices. Although categorised as a sport, mountaineering resists to the standard definition of sport and especially to mainstream understanding of sport as a competitive activity. On the other hand, usual ethical questions concerning sports do not cover the vast majority of mountaineering practices, thus calling for a wider normative perspective – a bioethical analysis. It is argued that such an approach could ground the possibility of understanding mountaineering as a peculiar sort of sport, and differentiate its special features by using bioethical analysis. Thus, it is showed that mountaineering is a unique sport, but also that mountaineer shares and promotes a genuine life philosophy exemplifying a truly bioethical worldview. Mountaineer is guided by a unique set of core values encapsulated under something we can and should call the philosophy of mountaineering.

Hrvatski planinar, časopis i službeno glasilo Hrvatskoga planinarskog saveza, počeo je izlaziti 1. lipnja 1898. godine, što ga čini jednim od najdugovječnijih svjetskih časopisa. Tijekom duga razdoblja njegova izlaženja prezenti-rana je velika količina, raznolikost i kvaliteta sadržaja, zbog čega može biti korišten kao jedinstven izvor u raznim disciplinama i znanostima. Polazeći od spomenutoga bogatstva koje se krije u tome časopisu, cilj je ovoga rada istražiti zastupljenost, prezentaciju i percepciju Učke u prvih sto godišta Hrvatskoga planinara, dakle obuhvaćeno je razdoblje od 1898. do 1998. godine. Na primjeru te planine izvrsno se ogleda kako velike društveno-političke promjene (u prvome redu ratovi) nisu utjecale samo na dinamiku izlaženja samoga časopisa nego i na njegov sadržaj. Naime Učka je planina „blizu granice“, stoga nije i ne može biti shvaćena isključivo kao „običan“ planinarski cilj, već je njezin status često pod utjecajem i brojnih drugih čimbenika koji nisu nužno planinarski, nego ulaze u područje gradnje nacionalnog, regionalnog, zavičajnog i političkog identiteta., Croatian Mountaineer, journal and official gazette of the Croatian Mountaineering Association, began publishing on June 1, 1898, making it one of the world’s longest-running magazines. During the long period of its publication, a large amount, variety and quality of content has been presented, therefore it can be used as a unique source in various disciplines and sciences. Starting from the richness of contents gathered in this journal, the aim of this paper is to investigate the presence, presentation and perception of mountain Učka in the first hundred volumes of the Croatian Mountaineer, thus covering the period from 1898 to 1998. The example of this mountain shows perfectly how major socio-political changes (especially wars) not only affected the dynamics of the journal’s publication itself but also its content. Namely, Učka is a mountain „near the border”, so it is not and cannot be understood solely as an „ordinary” mountaineering goal, but its status is often influenced by many other factors that are not necessarily mountaineering, but enter the area of ​​the construction of national, regional, homeland and political identity.

Iako kategorizirano kao sport, planinarstvo se uvriježenoj definiciji sporta opire, a pogotovo glavnoj struji shvaćanja sporta kao natjecateljske aktivnosti. S druge strane, etička pitanja o sportu ne pokrivaju većinu planinarskih praksi, što za sobom povlači potrebu za širom normativnom perspektivom – bioetičkom analizom. Argumentira se da takav pristup može zasnovati mogućnost razumijevanja planinarstva kao posebne vrste sporta i razlučiti njegova posebna svojstva korištenjem bioetičke analize. Pokazuje se da je planinarstvo jedinstven sport, ali i da planinarstvo udjeljuje i promiče autentičnu filozofiju sporta, oprimjerujući odista bioetički pogled na svijet. Bien que l’alpinisme soit catégorisé comme un sport, il résiste à la définition classique de sport en tant que qu’activité de compétition. De plus, les questions habituelles d’éthique concernant le sport ne couvrent pas la grande majorité des pratiques de l’alpinisme, ce qui nous contraint à réfléchir à une perspective normative plus large – une analyse bioéthique. Nous affirmons qu’une telle approche peut permettre de comprendre l’alpinisme comme un genre de sport particulier et de différencier ses caractéristiques particulières en se servant d’une analyse bioéthique. Ainsi, en illustrant un regard sur le monde véritablement bioéthique, nous montrons que l’alpinisme est un sport unique, et que l’alpinisme partage et promeut une authentique vie philosophique. Obwohl Bergsteigen als Sport eingestuft wird, widersetzt es sich der Standarddefinition des Sports und insbesondere der vorherrschenden Richtung im Verständnis des Sports als Wettkampfaktivität. Auf der anderen Seite decken die geläufigen ethischen Fragen in Bezug auf Sport nicht die überwiegende Mehrheit der Bergsteigerpraktiken ab, weshalb eine breitere normative Perspektive erforderlich ist – eine bioethische Analyse. Es wird argumentiert, dass ein solcher Ansatz die Möglichkeit begründen könnte, das Bergsteigen als eine besondere Sportart aufzufassen und seine besonderen Merkmale durch die Verwendung bioethischer Analyse zu differenzieren. Auf diese Weise wird gezeigt, dass Bergsteigen ein einzigartiger Sport ist, aber auch, dass Bergsteiger eine authentische Lebensphilosophie teilen und fördern, die eine fürwahr bioethische Weltanschauung exemplifiziert. Der Bergsteiger lässt sich von einer einzigartigen Reihe von Grundwerten leiten, die unter dem Begriff zusammengefasst sind, den wir Philosophie des Bergsteigens nennen können und sollen.

In this paper the first 14 years of publication of scientific journal AMHA - Acta medico‑historica Adriatica (2002-2016) are presented and shortly analysed. This journal has undoubtedly become and remained the central activity of the Croatian Scientific Society for the History of Health Culture, which has rapidly become a globally esteemed journal of history of medicine. The beginning and the context of publishing the journal with the reference to scientific meeting "Rijeka and Its Citizens in Medical History" is presented, as well as the journal's profiling into distinguished international journal and its fast development in later years. The analysis shows the growth of journal's visibility through indexation in different international journal databases, the number and ratio of scientific articles and the variety of published material. Finally, a review of the potential future directions of development and the significance of this journal within the national, regional and international context is given.U članku se predstavlja i ukratko analizira prvih četrnaest godina izlaženja znanstvenog časopisa AMHA – Acta medico‑historica Adriatica (2002. – 2016.). Časopis je bez sumnje postao i ostao središnja aktivnost Hrvatskoga znanstvenog društva za povijest zdravstvene kulture i ubrzo se prometnuo u svjetski cijenjeni časopis iz povijesti medicine. Predstavljen je početak i kontekst njegova izlaženja, u poveznici sa znanstvenim skupom Rijeka i Riječani u medicinskoj povjesnici, njegovo profiliranje u istaknuti međunarodni znanstveni časopis te nagli razvoj u kasnijim godinama izlaženja. Analiza pokazuje rast prepoznatljivosti časopisa kroz indeksaciju u različitim međunarodnim časopisnim bazama, broj i omjer znanstvenih članaka i vrstu objavljenog materijala. Zaključno se daje osvrt na moguće smjerove razvoja u budućnosti te značenje časopisa u nacionalnim, regionalnim i međunarodnim okvirima.

This paper presents the form and content of the sixteen scientific conferences "Rijeka and its Citizens in Medical History" ("Rijeka i Riječani u medicinskoj povjesnici") which were held in the period between 2000 and 2016 according to the archive data of the conference organizer Croatian Scientific Society for the History of Health Culture. It presents data about the beginning of science convention, some its organisational features and the number of participants. A total of 315 presentations, whose abstracts were published in individual conference's abstract books, were given at the sixteen conventions by 463 participants from Croatia and abroad. It is emphasized that the great number of the papers printed in extenso are published in the journal AMHA - Acta medico-historica Adriatica. Summarised quantity data on the number of presented papers, number of presenters and number of co-authored papers are given. Finally, a review of the significance of this convention within the regional, national and international aspect is given.U radu se kratko predstavljaju forma i sadržaj svih šesnaest dosad održanih znanstvenih skupova Rijeka i Riječani u medicinskoj povjesnici održanih od 2000. do 2016., prema podacima iz arhive njihova organizatora Hrvatskoga znanstvenog društva za povijest zdravstvene kulture. Prikazuju se podaci o počecima znanstvenog skupa, nekim njegovim organizacijskim obilježjima i broju sudionika. Na šesnaest su skupova 463 sudionika iz Hrvatske i inozemstva predstavila 315 izlaganja čiji su sažeci objavljivani u pojedinačnim zbornicima skupova. Ističe se da je velik broj radova in extenso objavljen upravo u časopisu AMHA – Acta medico historica Adriatica. Donose se sumarni kvantitativni podaci o broju izlagača, izloženih radova i suautorskih uradaka. Zaključno se nudi osvrt na značenje ovog skupa u regionalnom, nacionalnom i međunarodnom pogledu.

EuroBioAct is a project under the Department of Social Sciences and Medical Humanities, Faculty of Medicine – University of Rijeka and the »Fritz Jahr« Documentation and Research Centre for European Bioethics at University of Rijeka. Concerning the fact that this Centre is a part of Centre of Excellence for Integrative Bioethics on the one side and the main promotor of Europeisation of bioethics as its programmatic task, the role and the outcomes of the project in this wider context is analysed. After short presentation of the project main aims and systematic documentation of the visible/published products coming directly from the project plan, we discern different phases of its realisation highlighting the importance and the meaning of every step in overall plan. It is shown that the project plays an important role in the wider bioethical framework in general, and provides some significant methodological novelties in particular. The critical evaluation of the project’s results is given and some further suggestions concerning its main goals are given., Projekt EuroBioAct provodi se pri Katedri za društvene i humanističke znanosti u medicini Medicinskog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Rijeci i Dokumentacijskoistraživačkog centra za europsku bioetiku »Fritz Jahr« Sveučilišta u Rijeci. S obzirom na činjenicu da je ovaj centar s jedne strane sastavnica Centra izvrsnosti za integrativnu bioetiku te da je njegova programska zadaća biti glavnim promotorom europeizacije bioetike, u širem se kontekstu analiziraju uloga i ishodi ovoga projekta. Nakon kraćeg predstavljanja glavnih ciljeva projekta i sustavne dokumentacije vidljivih/objavljenih rezultata koji neposredno proizlaze iz projektnog plana, prepoznajemo različite faze njegove realizacije naglašavajući važnost i značenje svakog koraka u cjelokupnome planu. Pokazalo se da projekt općenito ima važnu ulogu u širem bioetičkom okviru, a posebice nudi neke značajne metodološke novosti. U radu se daje kritička evaluacija rezultata projekta. Ujedno se daju daljnji prijedlozi koji se odnose na njegove glavne ciljeve.

Sakralna baština, religijske prakse i običaji te sveukupna etnomedicinska baština Mošćenišćine ostali su izvan interesa medikohistoričara, što je polazna točka rada. Istraživanje spomenutih dimenzija povijesnomedicinske stvarnosti Mošćenica i njihove šire okolice provedeno je na tri razine. Najprije se, polazeći od uobičajene i u literaturi uvriježene metodologije, analizira sakralni inventar pojedinih crkava i kapela župe Mošćenice iz perspektive povijesti medicine. Zatim se analiziraju vjerski običaji motivirani zdravstvenom problematikom, a naposljetku se prelazi na analizu ostalih tradicijskih oblika i praksi čuvanja zdravlja i liječenja od bolesti, ponajprije ljudi, ali i životinja. Cilj je ovog istraživanja dokumentiranje i prezentiranje elemenata povijesnomedicinske baštine Mošćenišćine koje počiva na religijskim i drugim tradicijskim komponentama, a s namjerom upotpunjavanja povijesnomedicinskog mozaika istočnoistarskog obalnog prostora., Sacral heritage, religious practices and customs, and the ethnomedical heritage of the Mošćenice region have not had so far the attention of medico-historians, which represents the starting point of this paper. The research of the mentioned dimensions of medico-historical reality of Mošćenice and its surrounding area has been conducted on three levels. Starting with the usual methodology, sacral inventory of certain churches and chapels from the Mošćenice parish is analyzed from the perspective of the history of medicine. After that, the attention is first given to the religious practices motivated by health and then to other traditional forms and practices of health prevention and disease treatment – especially to those concerning people as well as those concerning animals. The scope of this research is to document and present the elements of medico-historical heritage of the Mošćenice region based on religious and other traditional components, but with the intention to enrich the medico-historical mosaic of the eastern Istrian coastal region.

Upotreba Kantovih shema kao vrijednih teorijskih elemenata (konstrukata) u objašnjenju našeg kognitivnoga ustroja već je duže vrijeme aktualna tema u filozofiji uma. Relevantnost sheme i shematizacije kao principa organizacije jezičnih struktura u posljednjih je 30-ak godina istaknuta i u lingvističkoj teoriji, posebice kognitivnoj lingvistici. U ovom se radu nastoji pokazati kako upravo Kantov koncept shematizma uma, izložen u Kritici čistog uma, odnosno središnji pojam sheme, pruža relevantne uvide za mogućnost drugačijega kritičkog sagledavanja sheme u lingvističkoj diskusiji. Istovremeno se pokazuje kako lingvistička diskusija nudi potkrjepu i sadržajno obogaćenje Kantove teorijske filozofije pružajući konkretne primjere jezične artikulacije onoga što bi sheme trebale biti i kakva je to njihova narav, osnažujući na taj način Kantovu poziciju lingvističkim argumentima i čineći ga aktualnim za suvremenu lingvistiku., The use of Kantian schemata as valuable theoretical elements (constructs) in the explication of our cognitive architecture has been for some time a recurring topic in the philosophy of mind. The relevancy of schemas and processes of schematization as organizing principles of language structures has been repeatedly pointed out in linguistic theory, especially within the framework of cognitive linguistics. In this paper we discuss how Kant’s notion of the schematization of the mind, as discussed in his Critique of Pure Reason, i.e. the central notion of the schema, provides us with relevant insights into a novel critical approach to schematization in linguistics. At the same time, we strive to show that linguistic analyses provide a corroboration and enrichment of Kant’s theoretical philosophy by means of linguistic data, reinforcing Kant’s position with linguistic arguments and thus making him relevant in contemporary linguistic discussions., L’utilisation des schèmes kantiens, en tant qu’éléments (constructions) théoriques de grande importance dans l’explication de notre constitution cognitive, est un thème actuel en philosophie de l’esprit depuis déjà un certain temps. La pertinence du schème et de la schématisation comme principes d’organisation des structures langagières a également été relevée, durant les trente dernières années, au sein de la théorie linguistique, particulièrement au sein de la linguistique cognitive. Ce travail s’applique précisément à montrer comment le concept kantien de schématisme de la raison est exposé dans la Critique de la raison pure, et en particulier, comment le concept central de schème offre des conceptions pertinentes qui nous permettent de porter un regard critique autre sur le schème au sein de la discussion linguistique. En même temps, il est montré comment la discussion linguistique corrobore et enrichit le contenu de la philosophie théorique kantienne en offrant des exemples d’articulations langagières de ce que les schèmes devraient être et de leur nature, renforçant de cette manière la position de Kant à travers des arguments linguistiques, et le rendant ainsi actuel pour la linguistique contemporaine., Die Verwendung von Kants Schemata als wertvollen theoretischen Elementen (Konstrukten) bei der Erläuterung unseres kognitiven Aufbaus ist seit längerer Zeit das aktuelle Thema in der Philosophie des Geistes. Die Relevanz des Schemas und der Schematisierung als Prinzip der Organisation von Sprachstrukturen wurde in den letzten 30 Jahren auch in der linguistischen Theorie, insbesondere in der kognitiven Linguistik, hervorgehoben. In dieser Arbeit versucht man zu zeigen, dass eben Kants Konzept des Vernunft-Schematismus, dargelegt in der Kritik der reinen Vernunft, bzw. der Zentralbegriff des Schemas, relevante Einsichten in die Möglichkeit einer andersartigen kritischen Sichtweise des Schemas innerhalb der linguistischen Diskussion verschafft. Gleichzeitig wird gezeigt, dass die linguistische Diskussion eine Bekräftigung sowie inhaltliche Bereicherung der theoretischen Philosophie Kants bietet, idem sie konkrete Beispiele für die sprachliche Artikulation dessen, was Schemata sein sollen und wie deren Natur ist, liefert, und auf diese Art Kants Position durch linguistische Argumente stärkt und ihn für die zeitgenössische Linguistik aktuell macht.

The use of Kantian schemata as valuable theoretical elements (constructs) in the explication of our cognitive architecture has been for some time a recurring topic in the philosophy of mind. The relevancy of schemas and processes of schematization as organizing principles of language structures has been repeatedly pointed out in linguistic theory, especially within the framework of cognitive linguistics. In this paper we discuss how Kant’s notion of the schematization of the mind, as discussed in his Critique of Pure Reason, i.e. the central notion of the schema, provides us with relevant insights into a novel critical approach to schematization in linguistics. U članku se predstavlja i ukratko analizira prvih četrnaest godina izlaženja znanstvenog časopisa AMHA – Acta medico‑historica Adriatica (2002. – 2016.). Časopis je bez sumnje postao i ostao središnja aktivnost Hrvatskoga znanstvenog društva za povijest zdravstvene kulture i ubrzo se prometnuo u svjetski cijenjeni časopis iz povijesti medicine. Predstavljen je početak i kontekst njegova izlaženja, u poveznici sa znanstvenim skupom Rijeka i Riječani u medicinskoj povjesnici, njegovo profiliranje u istaknuti međunarodni znanstveni časopis te nagli razvoj u kasnijim godinama izlaženja. Analiza pokazuje rast prepoznatljivosti časopisa kroz indeksaciju u različitim međunarodnim časopisnim bazama, broj i omjer znanstvenih članaka i vrstu objavljenog materijala. Zaključno se daje osvrt na moguće smjerove razvoja u budućnosti te značenje časopisa u nacionalnim, regionalnim i međunarodnim okvirima., In this paper the first 14 years of publication of scientific journal AMHA – Acta medico‑historica Adriatica (2002–2016) are presented and shortly analysed. This journal has undoubtedly become and remained the central activity of the Croatian Scientific Society for the History of Health Culture, which has rapidly become a globally esteemed journal of history of medicine. The beginning and the context of publishing the journal with the reference to scientific meeting “Rijeka and Its Citizens in Medical History” is presented, as well as the journal’s profiling into distinguished international journal and its fast development in later years. The analysis shows the growth of journal’s visibility through indexation in different international journal databases, the number and ratio of scientific articles and the variety of published material. Finally, a review of the potential future directions of development and the significance of this journal within the national, regional and international context is given.
