The paper presents an analysis of the research work carried out by the Institute of Mining of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences over the past decades by request of AK ALROSA. Their scientific novelty and practical significance are noted. Many works are based on the results of fundamental and applied research, which made it possible to implement them reasonably and with great efficiency at the existing operations. It is acknowledged that the Mining Institute of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences is one of the priority scientific partners of the Yakutniproalmaz Institute. Over the many years of cooperation, a team of researchers from the Mining Institute of UB of RAS has studied the mining, geological and climatic conditions of mining operations in the permafrost zone. Innovative techniques and technologies for mining kimberlite ores in confined conditions of deep open pits as well as methods to assess and select the type of transport and dump truck models have been developed for the open pits and underground mines of AK ALROSA. Recommendations are provided on the safe operation of open-pit transport, including the one with robotic control. Studies have been carried out which were used as the basis to develop technological regulations for projects of reaching and developing reserves of the Udachnaya Tube. A calculation method was proposed and standards were developed for drilling and blasting operations in open pits of diamond mining enterprises of the Russian Federation located in the permafrost zone. The correlation of rock categories aaccording to blastability grade and the specific consumption of explosives, which we recommended, allows to establish rational limits for changing the parameters of drilling and blasting operations within the permafrost zone. Based on field studies, numerical values of the stress-and-strain state of the rock mass were defined during the construction of underground workings. The geomechanical conditions of underground mining of the Udachnaya Tube diamond deposit were justified for the conditions of transition from the open-pit mining operations to the underground ones, considering the stress-and-strain state and geodynamic activity of various sections of the rock massif. Several sections have been developed for the national standard of the Russian Federation “Mining of diamond ore deposits with open-cast method in the permafrost zone”.

In the course of mining indigenous diamond deposits, as well as during further processing of kimberlite rocks, drainage and recycling waters are formed that require subsequent purification or other method of environmentally safe disposal. This article discusses the possibility and prospects of using deep-lying aquifers for injection of these types of waters produced by the processing and mining facilities of the Aikhal GOK. The structural and tectonic patterns of the territory are analyzed in order to identify promising areas, and the main hydrodynamic parameters of the target reservoirs are characterized. An expert assessment of the feasibility of further research is given, the main directions are identified, the volumes and their methodological component are described

Research objective: analysis of waste disposal issues in the mining and mineral processing industry of the Russian Federation. Research methodology: economic and environmental challenges concerned with mining and mineral processing waste in dumps and tailings were analysed. Results: an option is proposed to dispose of the waste rock generated by the mining and processing industry by using it for construction of railways and motor roads. This technology makes it possible to avoid construction of quarries and temporary settlements for their development along the road route, which will decrease the environmental impact and significantly reduce the time and cost of road construction. Conclusions: The proposed technology helps to achieve a significant economic effect (no costs for transporting materials from remote areas of the country), reduce the adverse environmental impact of mining operations and, in the long term, prevent dump formation.

Results of pilot studies on development of cement injection solutions possessing anticorrosive properties in sodium-chloride brines in the conditions of underground “Mir” mine are given in the article. It is shown that the developed compositions of injection solutions on the basis of sulfate-resistant and aluminous cements conform to requirements of the project to material and technology of injection, provide curing at lowered temperature of breeds and more high corrosion resistance to brines.

The paper presents analytical formulae of the transportation en- ergy of blasted rock mass depending on the route slopes. The figures are obtained for mining dump trucks with a carrying capacity of up to 55 tons, from 55 to 130 tons and from 130 to 320 tons. In addition, analytical for- mulae are presented for the total destructive energy of the structural section elements of dump trucks depending on the longitudinal slope of the route. The work uses the parameters of crack-like defects that are formed on the rear axle housing component of BelAZ heavy dump trucks. The energy de- pendences of the transportation and destruction processes for mining trucks of various carrying capacities are given. An energy joint diagram has also been constructed, which allows determining the maximum allowable val- ues of the transportation energy of the rock mass and the destruction of the structural section elements for given route slopes.
