The Al(3+)sensor, 7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1, 3-diazole (NBD) derived fluorescent probe2-((E)-(4-(phenylamino)benzo[c][1,2,5]oxadiazol-7-ylimino)methyl) phenol(3)was synthesized and characterized by various spectral methods and crystallography. The compound (3) exhibits dual channel (fluorometric and colorimetric) sensor behaviour. It has high selectivity for Al(3+)detection, produced significant fluorescence enhancement in the presence of Al(3+)ion. It shows ''turn off-on'' fluorescent responses toward Al(3+)in semi aqueous medium. Here, the correlative the properties of a photo sensor (NBD based schiff's base3with normal NBD derivatives1, 2) towards Al(3+)was studied. The solvent effect and cation sensing properties were investigated from ultraviolet spectroscopy and fluorescence spectroscopic methods. The facile synthetic probe3will alternative and open new opportunities in bio-imaging of Al(3+)in various cell lines. This will certainly be helpful in understanding the fundamental mechanism of aluminium-induced human diseases.

The hydrophilic pendant type polymer bound (Co3+ and Cu2+) complexes conjugates were synthesised and characterized by spectro-chemical analysis. The key features of these complexes are highly stable, redox active and show a quasi-reversible in the cyclic voltammetry response. The molecular interaction of these complexes with calf-thymus DNA were investigated using spectroscopic techniques such as absorption, emission, cyclic voltammetry and circular dichroism. The antimicrobial susceptibility of few bacterial and fungi strains were determined by the zone of inhibition method. The cell proliferation and mode of cell death induced by polymer-metal complexes in MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell were determined using activated WST-1 assay, caspase-3 and propidium iodide labeling assay adopting flow cytometry. Anticancer targeted ruthenium(II) complex units containing bpy(2,2′-bipyridine), phen(1,10-phenanthroline) or 2,9-dmp(2,9-dimethyl 1,10-phenanthroline) anchored on a branched polyethylenimine molecule (RuL-BPEI) were synthesised. These complexes are highly stable, emissive, redox active and show a quasi-reversible response in cyclic voltammetry. Synthesised compounds were characterized by infra-red, UV-visible, NMR, CHN, and AES analysis methods. The interaction of these RuL-BPEI samples with calf thymus DNA was explored using electronic absorption spectroscopy, emission spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and circular dichroism techniques. Antimicrobial activities of these polymer metal complexes have been investigated against a range of various bacteria, including clinically resistant microbes. And also anticancer properties have been tested with MCF-7 breast cancer cell lines. All results were positive.

The polymer-cobalt(III) complexes, [Co(bpy)(dien)BPEI]Cl3 · 4H2O (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, dien = diethylentriamine, BPEI = branched polyethyleneimine) were synthesized and characterized. The interaction of these complexes with human serum albumin (HSA) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) was investigated under physiological conditions using various physico-chemical techniques. The results reveal that the fluorescence quenching of serum albumins by polymer-cobalt(III) complexes took place through static quenching. The binding of these complexes changed the molecular conformation of the protein considerably. The polymer-cobalt(III) complex with x = 0.365 shows antimicrobial activity against several human pathogens. This complex also induces cytotoxicity against MCF-7 through apoptotic induction. However, further studies are needed to decipher the molecular mode of action of polymer-cobalt(III) complex and for its possible utilization in anticancer therapy.
