Los estudiantes de Enfermería presentan en un alto porcentaje niveles moderados y altos de estrés y ansiedad. A día de hoy se conocen una serie de factores propios del individuo que intervienen en la gestión de la ansiedad y estrés dentro del entorno académico. Estos factores pueden ser modulados gracias a la intervención de programas de Mindfulness. La práctica de Mindfulness, de origen budista, se basa en la atención plena del individuo, permitiéndole focalizarse en el aquí y ahora. Presenta numerosos beneficios, entre los que destaca la autogestión y control emocional. En este sentido, ha sido implementado en el aula como un recurso beneficioso tanto para docentes como estudiantes. Por ello, se plantearon los siguientes objetivos: 1) desarrollar una aplicación (MINDREST) con elementos que permitan una iniciación o seguimiento de la práctica de Mindfulness, 2) impulsar la práctica de Mindfulness entre estudiantes de la asignatura de Enfermería del Adulto I del Grado de Enfermería, 3) evaluar la eficacia de la práctica de Mindfulness como herramienta de apoyo docente en relación al rendimiento académico en las prácticas de asignatura de Enfermería del Adulto I, 4) determinar el impacto de la implementación de un programa basado en Mindfulness sobre el estrés y ansiedad de los estudiantes de Enfermería y 5) evaluar la motivación, satisfacción y participación de los estudiantes de la asignatura de Enfermería del Adulto I correspondiente con el programa Mindfulness relacionado y el uso de herramientas digitales. Se reclutó un total de 55 estudiantes, de los cuales 52 completaron el estudio, distribuyéndose 18 participantes en los grupos de práctica presencial y online, y 16 en el grupo control. Tras las 10 sesiones de práctica mindfulness, se recogieron los datos de variables objeto de interés en este proyecto. Se observó cómo la intervención redujo los niveles de estrés en el grupo online respecto a valores iniciales. Además, se apreció una alteración mayor del estado de ánimo en el grupo online, que no en los grupos que practicaron mindfulness. No se encontraron diferencias en el rendimiento y satisfacción académica, y biomarcadores relacionados con el estrés. Las valoraciones obtenidas sobre la satisfacción en el proyecto mostraron una mejor sensación obtenida en el grupo presencial, que no en los grupos online y control; donde los estudiantes refirieron apreciar barreras en su participación, falta de interacción, en el grupo online, o descontento por no recibir la intervención. Dentro de las limitaciones de este proyecto ha sido el bajo número de estudiantes por grupo, afectando al grado de significación estadística. De igual modo, la evaluación post-intervención se realizó justo antes de la evaluación de la asignatura (factor estresante), lo que indica que es una situación estresora mayor para los estudiantes, requiriendo de un tiempo mayor de práctica mindfulness para observar modulación de la capacidad de autorregulación emocional. Así, se necesita de futuros trabajos que permita un tiempo de ejecución de la intervención y reclutamiento mayor, que elimine las barreras que puedan ocurrir en la participación de estudiantes.

The olive tree and its derivatives are of great interest in the field of biomedicine due to their numerous health properties. The aim of the present study was to identify the effects of the use of olive products, extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) and products derived from its extraction, on the skin. Numerous studies have pointed out the protective effect of olive compounds on skin ageing, thanks to their role in the different mechanisms involved in the ageing process, such as reducing oxidative stress, increasing cell viability and decreasing histological alterations. With regard to their photoprotective effect, the olive tree and its fruit contain phenolic compounds which have a protective effect against radiation, such as low ultraviolet absorption and high antioxidant activity, acting as a protective factor against photocarcinogenesis. Similarly, the anti-tumour effects of olives have been studied at the level of the different compounds and extracts obtained from them, and their ability to selectively attack human melanoma cells has been observed. They have also shown antibacterial activity against microorganisms particularly implicated in skin infections, such as Escherichia coli, Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Enterococcus faecalis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Proteus spp. Likewise, on healthy tissue, they have shown the ability to stimulate growth, migration and the expression of genes involved in cell differentiation, which favours the regeneration of skin wounds. The prevalence of hypovitaminosis D has risen in developed countries over the past few years in association with lifestyle changes and an increase in unhealthy habits. Vitamin D deficiency has been implicated in various diseases, including metabolic syndrome (MetS), which is clinically defined by a set of metabolic and vascular disorders. The objective of this study was to review scientific evidence on the relationship between MetS and vitamin D deficiency to support the development of prevention strategies and health education programs. An inverse relationship has been reported between plasma vitamin D concentrations and the features that define MetS, i.e., elevated serum concentrations of glucose, total cholesterol, low-density lipoproteins, triglycerides, glycosylated hemoglobin, and a high body mass index. Numerous studies have described the benefits of vitamin D supplementation to improve outcomes in individuals with MetS. Fibromyalgia (FM) is a highly prevalent syndrome that impairs the quality of life of the patients; however, its diagnosis is complex and mainly centered on pain symptoms. The study of salivary biomarkers has proven highly useful for the diagnosis and prognosis of numerous diseases. The objective of this review was to gather published data on the utilization of salivary biomarkers to facilitate and complement the diagnosis of FM. Salivary biomarkers used in FM diagnosis include cortisol; calgranulin; and the enzymes α-amylase, transaldolase, and phosphoglycerate mutase. Increased serum levels of C-reactive protein, cytokines interleukin 1-β, interleukin 6, interleukin 8, interleukin 10, interleukin 17, tumor necrosis factor α, and various chemokines may serve as salivary biomarkers, given observations of their increased serum levels in patients with FM. Further research is warranted to study in depth the role and performance of biomarkers currently used in FM diagnosis/prognosis and to identify novel salivary biomarkers for this disease. Yes

Saliva is a highly versatile biological fluid that is easy to gather in a non-invasive manner-and the results of its analysis complement clinical and histopathological findings in the diagnosis of multiple diseases. The objective of this review was to offer an update on the contribution of salivary biomarkers to the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases of the oral cavity, including oral lichen planus, periodontitis, Sjögren's syndrome, oral leukoplakia, peri-implantitis, and medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw. Salivary biomarkers such as interleukins, growth factors, enzymes, and other biomolecules have proven useful in the diagnosis and follow-up of these diseases, facilitating the early evaluation of malignization risk and the monitoring of disease progression and response to treatment. However, further studies are required to identify new biomarkers and verify their reported role in the diagnosis and/or prognosis of oral diseases. Yes

Cuando un tejido es dañado tiende a repararse de manera natural. En ocasiones, este proceso es lento y tórpido, lo que implica la cronificación de la herida. Las heridas crónicas más prevalentes son las úlceras por presión (UPP). Estas lesiones son originadas por diversos factores mecánicos (presión, fuerza y cizallamiento) junto con otros factores pertenecientes al paciente (estado de salud, estilos de vida, nutrición y medicación, entre otros). El padecimiento de estas heridas origina graves consecuencias para el paciente, la familia y el sistema sanitario. Es por ello que existe una necesidad de abordar estas heridas con tratamientos adecuados a fin de reducir estas importantes consecuencias, y mejorar la calidad de vida de los individuos y la familia; al igual que mejorar la asistencia sanitaria. Sometimes, this process is slow and torpid, which leads to the chronification of the wound. The most common chronic wounds are pressure ulcers (PU). These injuries are caused by various mechanical factors (pressure, force and shear) along with other factors related to the patient (health status, lifestyle, nutrition and medication, among others). Suffering these injuries has serious consequences for the patient, their families and the health system. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), including cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)-selective NSAIDs, are associated with adverse effects on bone tissue. These drugs are frequently the treatment of choice but are the least studied with respect to their repercussion on bone. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of celecoxib on cultured human osteoblasts. Human osteoblasts obtained by primary culture from bone samples were treated with celecoxib at doses of 0.75, 2, or 5μM for 24 h. The MTT technique was used to determine the effect on proliferation; flow cytometry to establish the effect on cell cycle, cell viability, and antigenic profile; and real-time polymerase chain reaction to measure the effect on gene expressions of the differentiation markers RUNX2, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), osteocalcin (OSC), and osterix (OSX). Therapeutic doses of celecoxib had no effect on osteoblast cell growth or antigen expression but had a negative impact on the gene expression of RUNX2 and OSC, although there was no significant change in the expression of ALP and OSX. Celecoxib at therapeutic doses has no apparent adverse effects on cultured human osteoblasts and only inhibits the expression of some differentiation markers. Background: Fibroblasts are the main cells involved in regeneration during wound healing. The objective was to determine the effect of 940 nm diode laser on cultured human fibroblasts using different irradiation regimens. Methods: The CCD-1064Sk human epithelial fibroblast cell line was treated with a 940 nm diode laser at different energy doses (power: 0.2-1 W and energy density: 1-7 J/cm(2)) using different transmission modes (continuous or pulsed). The effect on cell growth at 24 and 72 h post-treatment was examined by measuring the proliferative capacity, the impact on the cell cycle, and the effect on cell differentiation. Results: fibroblast proliferative capacity was increased at 24 and 72 h post-treatment as a function of the energy dose. The greatest increase was observed with a power of 0.2 or 0.5 W and energy density between 1 and 4 J/cm(2); no difference was observed between continuous and pulsed modes. There were no significant differences in cell cycle between treated groups and controls. alpha-actin expression was increased by treatment, indicating enhanced cell differentiation. Conclusion: The 940 nm diode laser has biostimulating effects on fibroblasts, stimulating proliferative capacity and cell differentiation without altering the cell cycle. Further researches are necessary to explore its potential clinical usefulness in wound healing.
