The purpose of the present study was to identify eminent sport and exercise psychology researchers, based on citation count, and their most highly cited papers. Men (n = 121) and women (n = 32) from 17 different countries (e.g., the United States n = 47 to Ireland n = 1) were identified. Researchers were selected if their h-index was 60 or greater for Google Scholar and Web of Science combined. This criterion reflects Hirsch's (2005) characterization as follows based on h-index: a successful scientist (20), an outstanding scientist (40), and truly unique (60), for one database. Our criteria of 60 for two databases are equivalent to a designation halfway between successful and outstanding. The results indicate an h-index mean of 103, median of 94, mode of 105, and range of 60–346. Top-cited publications leaned toward more sport psychology than exercise psychology topics. Prominent journals included the Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology (n = 24) and Psychology of Sport and Exercise (n = 15). Other publications were in related fields (e.g., Psychology and Health). In summary, we have identified the most highly cited researchers in sport and exercise psychology and their single most-cited papers. Introduction: The main objective of this work is to analyze, from a bibliometric point of view, the journal Ars Pharmaceutica in the time interval between the years 2014 and 2023, given the existence of previous studies prior to that period. Method: The study focuses on the estimation of average authorship and time of acceptance of an article, distribution by scientific typology and by thematic areas of the published works, distribution by countries and institutions of origin of the works and incidence of the gender in authorship. The statistical analysis has been based on nonparametric contrasts and trend analysis. Results: The average number of authors per article is 4, lower than that of journals in the Pharmacy & Pharmacology field, and has remained stable throughout the period under study; The areas that concentrate the greatest number of contributions are Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy, Pharmaceutical Care and Pharmacology; almost 80 % of the works come from Spain (45.62 %) and Ibero-American countries (33.46 %); and, finally, that the percentage of male authors is significantly higher than that of female authors (p=0.036). Conclusion: Ars Pharmaceutica is a journal that, despite publishing articles mostly in Spanish, is consolidating itself as an international journal, appearing since 2018 in the Journal of Citation Reports, initially with Journal Citation Indicator and, since 2022, with Journal Impact Factor. Although publication in scholarly peer‐reviewed journals remains the gold standard for communication of findings in the life sciences, the gold has been debased in the digital age by various impurities, including (a) reviewer fatigue, (b) fraud, paper mills, and the perils of artificial intelligence, (c) predatory journals, (d) the ongoing use of journal impact factor as a proxy for individual article quality, and (e) salami‐slicing and other unethical practices. In this article, I present a detailed overview of these problems, as well as solutions proposed and implemented to counter them. Finally, I suggest that these are all symptomatic of a wider problem, namely the culture of 'publish or perish' and ongoing issues with how researcher performance is evaluated for grant, hiring, and promotion decisions. Conservation literature addresses a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary questions and benefits. Conservation science benefits most when a diverse range of authors are represented, particularly those from countries where much conservation work is focused. In other disciplines, it is well known that barriers and biases exist in the academic publishing sphere, which can affect research dissemination and an author's career development. We used a discrete choice experiment to determine how 7 journal attributes affect authors’ choices of where to publish in conservation. We targeted authors directly by contacting authors published in 18 target journals and indirectly via communication channels for conservation organizations. We only included respondents who had previously published in a conservation‐related journal. We used a multinomial logit model and a latent class model to investigate preferences for all respondents and distinct subpopulations. We identified 3 demographic groups across 1038 respondents (older authors from predominantly middle‐income countries, younger authors from predominantly middle‐income countries, and younger authors from high‐income countries) who had published in conservation journals. Each group exhibited different publishing preferences. Only 2 attributes showed a consistent response across groups: cost to publish negatively affected journal choice, including authors in high‐income countries, and authors had a consistent preference for double‐blind review. Authors from middle‐income countries were willing to pay more for society‐owned journals, unlike authors from high‐income countries. Journals with a broad geographical scope that were open access and that had relatively high impact factors were preferred by 2 of the 3 demographic groups. However, journal scope and open access were more important in dictating journal choice than impact factor. Overall, different demographics had different preferences for journals and were limited in their selection based on attributes such as open access policy. However, the scarcity of respondents from low‐income countries (2% of respondents) highlights the pervasive barriers to representation in conservation research. We recommend journals offer double‐blind review, reduce or remove open access fees, investigate options for free editorial support, and better acknowledge the value of local‐scale single‐species studies. The masson pine (Pinus massoniana, a coniferous tree species in the pine genus of the Pinaceae family) is the largest organic carbon reservoir in southeastern China, playing an important role in regulating CO2 and maintaining the carbon-oxygen balance of the biosphere. Based on turbulence flux observation data, this study analyzed the characteristics of carbon source and sink changes and influencing factors of the masson pine in Wuyishan National Park during the growing season of 2019 from the ecosystem scale, and estimated the photosynthetic parameters under different conditions. The results showed that the net ecosystem carbon exchange (NEE) of the masson pine during the growing season was -593.06 g CO2 /m². On the daily scale, the diurnal variation of NEE of masson pine was U-shaped, and the carbon sink capacity was strongest from 12 to 14 o'clock. On a monthly scale, carbon sequestration capacity of masson pine was strongest in September (-94.55 g CO2/m²) and relatively weak from May to July. Photosynthetically active radiation was the dominant factor of NEE at night, and there was a significant negative correlation between them. Soil temperature was the dominant factor of NEE at night, and the relationship between them showed a significant quadratic function. The light response curve shows that the maximum photosynthetic rate (Pmax) of the masson pine ecosystem in March and July was higher, while the initial photosynthetic efficiency (α) of vegetation in May was higher. Both Pmax and α were larger when the vapor pressure deficit was between 1~2.5 kPa, which was the most suitable for the masson pine to absorb carbon. The increase of soil water content would lead to the increase of ecosystem respiration (Rd), α and Pmax. When soil water content was supersucated, the increment of Rd was similar to that of Pmax, and the net carbon sequestration of vegetation was no longer increasing. The Tibetan Plateau, located in the mid-latitude region of the Asian continent, is commonly referred to as the third pole and the water tower of Asia. The high-altitude terrain and distinct circulation systems contribute to the formation of an ozone valley in the atmosphere above the Plateau. The discovery of this ozone valley has garnered significant attention from the international scientific community regarding the ozone levels over the Tibetan Plateau. At the same time, in the context of global warming, the increase of surface ozone concentrations in various regions of the world has posed significant threats to both human health and ecological environment. However, due to limited observational data and satellite data of short time scales, past studies on the Tibetan Plateau's ozone primarily focused on total column ozone, the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere, or surface ozone, while fewer studies have examined the tropospheric ozone column over the region. Therefore, longer-term data are needed to investigate the interannual variability and influencing factors of the tropospheric ozone column over the Tibetan Plateau. Based on AIRS (atmospheric infrared sounder) satellite data from 2003 to 2022, the tropospheric ozone column over the Tibetan Plateau during summer seasons from 2003 to 2022, as well as its interannual variation characteristics are analyzed. Additionally, using ERA5 reanalysis data from 2003 to 2022 and surface station data from China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment from 2015 to 2022, the study employs composite and correlation analyses to explore the factors influencing the tropospheric ozone column over the region. Results show that the tropospheric ozone column over the Tibetan Plateau during the summer exhibits significant interannual variability, increasing at a rate of approximately 0.08 DU per year. The difference of total tropospheric ozone column in high and low years is not only directly related to the difference of vertical distribution of ozone in the upper and lower troposphere, but also related to the difference of dynamic and chemical processes in the upper and lower troposphere. When the total tropospheric ozone column over the Tibetan Plateau is elevated, the tropopause on the northern side of the Plateau is lower, and the subtropical westerly jet is weak and fragmented. The weak transmission barrier enhances stratospheric tropospheric exchange, which is beneficial to the downward transmission of stratospheric high-concentration ozone air, while the vertical circulation in the lower troposphere affects the ozone concentration in the whole troposphere by upward transmission of low-concentration ozone air in the lower troposphere. The tropospheric ozone column anomaly in the northern Plateau is primarily associated with tropopause folding, while the lower ozone concentration across the entire troposphere in the southwestern Plateau is linked to anomalies in the South Asian High. The elevated tropospheric ozone column over the central Plateau may be associated with unusually high levels of surface solar radiation and emissions from surface pollutants.

With technological advancements and cost reduction， the centralized integration of grid-forming energy storage system has significantly expanded. This integration notably impacts the short-circuit currents of power system， an effect that warrants careful consideration. This paper utilizes an electromechanical transient simulation model for grid-forming energy storage system to examine the amplitude and phase characteristics of short-circuit currents under various limiting strategies. Case simulations are conducted to assess changes in short-circuit currents at nearby buses under different scales of energy storage system integration， overcurrent capabilities， grid voltage levels， and operating conditions. This comprehensive analysis reveals the influence of energy storage integration system on the bus short-circuit currents and quantifies the contribution of grid-forming energy storage system to the short-circuit currents. Based on these findings， the paper offers recommendations for capacity allocation and placement of grid-forming energy storage system， taking into account their impact on short-circuit current levels.

【Objective】 Irrigation is the largest water consumer in many regions. Understanding its variation and the underlying determinants is important for improving water management. Taking Jiangxi province as an example, we analyze the variation in its irrigation water usage, as well as the factors that influence the changes. 【Method】 Based on the information entropy and the balance in water utilization across the province, the logarithmic mean divisia index (LMDI) decomposition method was used to identify the meteorological factors that affect and contribute to irrigation water usage. 【Result】 The change in agricultural irrigation water consumption in the province is affected mainly by net irrigation water consumption per acre land, effective utilization coefficient of irrigation water, and effective irrigation areas, and actual irrigation ratio. The impact of irrigation water use efficiency negatively affected the change in irrigation water usage, while the impact of other factors varied with other conditions. Correlation analysis showed that the net irrigation water consumption per acre land and its contribution to irrigation water usage are affected mainly by rainfall. Excluding weather-related factors, the change in irrigation water consumption in the province was negative, indicating that the management of irrigation engineering projects has been improved. The increased irrigation water utilization efficiency is the main reason behind the decreased agricultural irrigation water consumption. Five cities in the province, including Shangrao, Fuzhou, Yichun, Jian, and Ganzhou, still have room for implementing water-saving irrigation. 【Conclusion】 Given the potential growth in the ratio of the effective irrigation areas to actual irrigation areas, the province should take measures by, for example, developing water-saving projects in large and medium-sized irrigation areas and optimizing water resource allocation, to improve effective irrigation water utilization coefficient and alleviate water pressure.

This study investigates the impact of Free-to-Publish (F2P) versus Pay-to-Publish (P2P) models in dermatology journals, focusing on their differences in terms of journal metrics, Article Processing Charges (APCs), and Open Access (OA) status. Utilizing k-means clustering, the research evaluates dermatology journals based on SCImago Journal Rankings (SJR), H-Index, and Impact Factor (IF), and examines the correlation between these metrics, APCs, and OA status (Full or Hybrid). Data from the SCImago Journal Rank and Journal Citation Report databases were used, and metrics from 106 journals were normalized and grouped into three tiers. The study reveals a higher proportion of F2P journals, especially in higher-tier journals, indicating a preference for quality-driven research acceptance. Conversely, a rising proportion of P2P journals in lower tiers suggests potential bias towards the ability to pay. This disparity poses challenges for researchers from less-funded institutions or those early in their careers. The study also finds significant differences in APCs between F2P and P2P journals, with hybrid OA being more common in F2P. Conclusively, the study highlights the disparities in dermatology journals between F2P and P2P models and underscores the need for further research into authorship demographics and institutional affiliations in these journals. It also establishes the effectiveness of k-means clustering as a standardized method for assessing journal quality, which can reduce reliance on potentially biased individual metrics. This study reports on the yearly rate of journal self-citation (JSC) in sport sciences, how it changes over time, and its association with journal impact factor (JIF). Citations made by all 87 journals in "sport sciences" from 2013 to 2022 were extracted, as was their 2022 JIF. JSC rates were calculated using a Poisson distribution method. A mixed-effects negative binomial regression examined changes in yearly JSC rates over time. The association between average JSC rates and JIF were compared using a negative binomial regression. The median JSC rate was 6.3 self-citations per 100 citations. JSC rates are increasing in sport sciences by ~ 10% per year (incidence rate ratio [IRR] = 1.1, 95% CI 1.1–1.2; trivial effect). There was a significant negative association between JSC rate and JIF (IRR = 0.9, 95% CI 0.9, 1.0; trivial effect). Contrary to observations made in prior literature examining broader disciplines, the increasing JSC rate in sport sciences may be attributed to the growing maturity of this novel discipline. As sport-science topic areas become more established and appear in discipline specific journals, more JSCs may occur due to an increasing body of literature in these journals. The negative association between JSC rate and JIF may be due to specialized and less visible journals having a naturally lower JIF, as their impact is confined to a narrower field. The Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata) is the main pest of citrus fruits, which can also infect other economically priority fruit plant species in an integrated global environment. Numerous populations of this insect contribute to the spread of fungi and microbes that cause secondary damage, such as fruit rot. Infestation of citrus orchards can lead to significant annual losses in crop size and quality. As a quarantine pest with high reproductive potential and spreading ability, the Mediterranean fruit fly is difficult to control and poses a serious threat to Albanian citrus exports due to concerns about infection or insecticide residues. The purpose of this study was to investigate the current state of integrated management of the Mediterranean fruit fly on citrus plants in the Konispol region, using innovative approaches. As part of this objective, the dynamics of the Mediterranean fruit fly population were studied using Trimedlure bait traps. The potential of organic integrated agricultural fruit production in the aspect of pest control was analysed. Integrated pest control programmes were described in detail, including a range of modern, safe population control methods and positioned as innovative, effective strategies for controlling the Mediterranean fruit fly. The study analysed the potential of modern tools and technologies for pest control. The areas of minimising the share of chemical protective equipment in the agricultural management system were outlined. As a result of the experiment, the effectiveness of the technique of mass trapping of pests was established. Comparative analysis of monitoring results at different farm plots was carried out. Based on the obtained data, the potential of management and technological measures to minimise the load on citrus plantations, combining the principles of environmental safety and economic feasibility, with the introduction of the latest systems for controlling and monitoring pest populations, was analysed. The goal of this study was to present a historical analysis of the extent to which the field of clinical neuropsychology publishes journals with titles that address culture in the context of brain function and behavior between 2010 and 2020.Titles from articles published in 13 neuropsychology journals from 2010–2020 were collected and coded with regard to culture and multicultural content. The aims of the study were to (1) determine how often cultural or multicultural topics were represented in journal titles, (2) determine if cultural or multicultural content in neuropsychology journal publication titles increased over time, and (3) to explore other neuropsychological content that was most and least likely to appear in publications pertaining to culture or multicultural issues.Results indicated that titles for publications in clinical neuropsychology journals with content relevant to cultural or multicultural neuropsychology represented 1.1% to 13.4% of titles across the 13 journals. The number of cultural/multicultural titles increased over time. The number of cultural/multicultural titles per journal was not significantly correlated with the journal impact factor. Normative data were addressed significantly more often in cultural/multicultural titles versus non-cultural/multicultural titles, whereas psychiatric issues were addressed significantly less often.There are many actions that clinical neuropsychologists can take to increase the field’s attention to the effects of culture on brain function and behavior. The field of agronomy and crop science plays a crucial role in ensuring global food security and sustainable agricultural practices. In the realm of scholarly publications, bibliometric indicators have emerged as invaluable tools for quantifying and comparing the impact, reach, and significance of such contributions. Various bibliometric indicators were employed for the study, including Impact Factor, Eigenfactor Score, Cite Score, and h-index. To accomplish this, we compiled a roster of 90 agronomy and crop science journals using the Journal Citation Report (JCR) within the Web of Science (WOS), journal metrics from the Scopus database (Cite Score and SNIP), and h5-index from Google Scholar. The SCImago Journal Ranking (SJR) was obtained from its official website. Subsequently, we conducted Bivariate Pearson's (r) and Spearman's (ρ) correlation coefficient tests to assess ranking correlations. The study revealed notable positive correlations particularly, a strong Pearson's (r) correlation evident between the Impact Factor (JIF) and both the Cite Score (CS) and SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) indicators, yielding values of (r = 0.962) and (r = 0.932), respectively. Interestingly, despite the distinct mathematical foundations underpinning the various citation-based bibliometric indices scrutinized, our findings underscored their robust correlations when it comes to ranking agronomy and crop science journals. Citation metrics are frequently used to assess research and rank journals and researchers. Nevertheless, this is still a process with asymmetric information. Tourism research has matured within a small community and through a multidisciplinary scientific paradigm. This paper aims to understand the determinants of tourism research citation patterns. To this end, 101,968 papers within fifteen years (2004-2018) are analysed. Our empirical results suggest that authors' prestige, the multidisciplinary nature of research, and the impact factor of journals and bibliometric articles will likely increase an article's citations. Cranes are employed to lift precast concrete girders during their construction. Presently, there is no recommendation for operational velocities during girder assemblage, particularly for long elements; simultaneously, several accidents have been reported during the transitory phase of girder motion. Since this mechanical problem has been examined in technical literature using a static approach, the present research study aims to investigate the dynamical behavior of a long, prestressed concrete girder by determining critical operational velocities according to crane movements. Prestressing cables' eccentricity and lifting loop position deviation were accounted for in 3D finite element simulations of a 40 m span precast prestressed concrete girder. Transient nonlinear analyses to obtain stresses and deflections were performed, so as to account for the large deformation behavior of the motion. A frequency domain approach was employed to analyze the time history results using the girder's natural frequencies obtained by modal analysis. The finite element model was developed to simulate upward, downward, and lateral girder movements. The most significant displacements and stresses were observed in the highest girder acceleration peaks, amplified by eccentricities. Safety against cracking and subsequent failure during vertical and lateral movements was ensured for crane operating accelerations of 0.02 g (v = 20 cm/s) and 0.007 g (v = 7 cm/s), respectively. Compared with the usual static analysis, for the critical case investigated, the inertial effect intensified the tensile stresses by 27 times, increased the compressive stresses by 11%, and increased the girder deflection by 3 times. A novel approach for analyzing coupled vibrations between vehicles and bridges is presented, taking into account spatiotemporal effects and mechanical phenomena resulting fromvehicle braking. Efficient modeling and solution of bridge vibrations induced by vehicle deceleration are realized using this method. The method's validity and reliability are substantiated through numerical examples. A simply supported beam bridge with a corrugated steel web is taken as an example and the effects of parameters such as the initial vehicle speed, braking acceleration, braking location, and road surface roughness on the mid-span displacement and impact factor of the bridge are analyzed. The results show that vehicle braking significantly amplifies mid-span displacement and impact factor responses in comparison to uniform vehicular motion across the bridge. Notably, the influence of wheel-to-bridge friction forces is of particular significance and cannot be overlooked. When the vehicle initiates braking near the middle of the span, both the mid-span displacement and impact factor of the bridge exhibit substantial increases, further escalating with higher braking acceleration. Under favorable road surface conditions, the midspan displacement and the impact factor during vehicle braking may exceed the design values stipulated by codes. It is important to note that road surface roughness exerts a more pronounced effect on the impact factor of the bridge in comparison to the effects of vehicle braking. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As economic development advances, there is an increasing focus on improving health conditions, making healthcare expenditure a critical issue worldwide. In China, healthcare spending has shown a marked upward trend, highlighting the importance of understanding its underlying determinants to guide effective policy-making. This study introduces the application of an SV-TVP-FAVAR model to examine the drivers of healthcare expenditure in China from 2007 to 2022. The analysis reveals that economic factors, demographic composition, and policy interventions significantly influence healthcare spending dynamics. Economic growth is strongly linked to increased healthcare expenditure, with economic factors having a particularly pronounced impact during periods of prosperity. Although an aging population drives greater demand for healthcare, the growth rate of healthcare spending has not kept pace with demographic aging, especially following China’s economic slowdown. Policy variables present a dual-edged impact: while increased fiscal outlays contribute to budget deficits, limiting the fiscal space for healthcare investment, government emphasis on scientific and technological progress tends to enhance healthcare spending, indicating a synergistic relationship between these areas. Furthermore, the study identifies a prolonged impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare expenditure, which continues to interact with other driving factors over an extended period. The empirical findings from this research provide crucial evidence to support the development of informed healthcare policies.

This study examines the influence of National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding on the publication choices of dermatologists, particularly in terms of journal tiers and pay-to-publish (P2P) versus free-to-publish (F2P) models. Utilizing k-means clustering for journal ranking based on SCImago Journal Rank, h-index, and Impact Factor, journals were categorized into three tiers and 54,530 dermatology publications from 2021 to 2023 were analyzed. Authors were classified as Top NIH Funded or Non-Top NIH Funded according to Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research rankings. The study finds significant differences in publication patterns, with Top NIH Funded researchers in Tier I journals demonstrating a balanced use of P2P and F2P models, while they preferred F2P models in Tier II and III journals. Non-Top NIH Funded authors, however, opted for P2P models more frequently across all tiers. These data suggest NIH funding allows researchers greater flexibility to publish in higher-tier journals despite publication fees, while prioritizing F2P models in lower-tier journals. Such a pattern indicates that funding status plays a critical role in strategic publication decisions, potentially impacting research visibility and subsequent funding. BACKGROUND: The dissemination of research and evidence-based medicine is critical to advancing science and improving clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the timing and associated factors of the publication process for the most influential orthopaedic surgery research journals. METHODS: After analyzing 25 orthopaedic surgery journals with the highest impact factors, 14 journals provided the necessary information for data analysis. A minimum of three consecutive issues per journal from 2021 were collected for review. Within each issue, all articles were included except for reviews, commentaries, replies, letters to the editor, and invited articles. The publication times for received to accepted (RA), received to published in press (RP1), and received to published in print (RP2) were retrieved and compared. Journal impact factor, specialty, and article level of evidence were recorded. RESULTS: A total of 1040 articles were included with a mean number of 74.3 ± 38 (range, 35-182) articles analyzed per journal. The mean impact factor for the 14 journals was 3.6 ± 1 (range, 2.5-5.8). The overall median duration of time for RA, RP1, and RP2 were 119 (IQR, 78-165) days, 157 (IQR, 102-216) days, and 291 (IQR, 243-378) days across all 14 journals, respectively. Journal of Arthroplasty demonstrated the shortest median duration of time for RA and RP1, while International Orthopaedics demonstrated the shortest median duration of time for RP2. Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine demonstrated the longest median duration of time for RA and RP2, while the American Journal of Sports Medicine demonstrated the longest median duration of time for RP1. Level three studies, which included retrospective case-control and cohort study designs, demonstrated the shortest publication times, while sports medicine journals demonstrated the longest publication times for all periods. CONCLUSION: There was substantial variation in publication times across orthopaedic surgery journals which may impact accessibility to clinical insights.

There was a slower rate of increase in the total number of citations and decrease in number of citable items with the transition of journals from print and online to online-only distribution. A positive impact on citation patterns, such as JIF and Immediacy Index, of online-only publication supports the benefits of transitioning medical journals from print and online to online-only publication. A whole-year investigation of full-scale integrated subsurface-constructed wetlands (ISCWs) was carried out to purify the tail water from a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) for wastewater reclamation under four plant species, four hydraulic loading rates (HLRs), and four seasons. The results showed that ISCWs were effective for the purification of WWTP discharge, with the average removal efficiencies of COD, NH4+-N, TN, and TP being 48%, 49%, 9%, and 30%, respectively. Typical pollutant concentrations in the treated effluent of ISCWs were 8.19 mg/L COD, 1.76 mg/L NH4+-N, 11.57 mg/L TN, and 0.36 mg/L TP, which met most of the water quality standards for reusing recycling water. Emergent plants with well-developed root systems may be capable of promoting the decontamination of ISCWs. Seasonal change played an important role in the treatment process: the removal of phosphorus by plant uptake and microbial utilization was more active in the warm season and the co-occurrence of organic degradation and nitrification, whereas the cold season is conducive to exothermic adsorption process of pollutants to substrates. Properly increasing the HLRs may improve the availability of ISCWs according to the requirement of effluent quality. Furthermore, the C/N ratio might be the key factor for the purification effect of ISCWs, because the COD level of WWTP discharge may change the process of NH4+-N biotransformation. Studying the soil stoichiometric ratios and the influencing factors of different altitude gradients in mountain ecosystems in arid zones is significant in revealing the soil nutrient status and maintaining the sustainable development of mountain ecosystems. In this paper, 13 sample plots were established along the elevation gradient in the mountains of the southern Ili River Valley, and soil in the depth of 0-20 cm was studied to investigate nutrient stoichiometric ratios and their influencing factors. The results showed that: (1) Soil acidity gradually increased with elevation. Organic carbon and total nitrogen contents are significantly higher in the middle and high mountain belts than in the low mountain belts, while total phosphorus and total potassium contents are opposite. (2) Due to altitudinal differences, the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio is significantly higher in the mid-alpine belt than in the low and alpine belts; carbon and phosphorus ratios are significantly higher in the middle and high mountain belts than in the middle and low mountain belts; carbon and potassium ratios are significantly higher in the middle and high mountain belts than in the low mountain belts; nitrogen-phosphorus ratios are higher in the alpine zone, but there is no major difference between the transition zone and the low mountain zone; nitrogen-potassium ratios are much higher in the alpine zone, whereas there is no significant difference between the mid-alpine zone and the transition zone; the differences of phosphorus/potassium ratios between altitudinal gradients are ignorable. (3) The dominant factors affecting the stoichiometric ratios of soil physicochemical indicators are soil organic carbon (62.4%), total phosphorus (15.9%), and total carbon (13.7%); while the major environmental factors are mean annual soil temperature (27.1%), vegetation index (11.2%), elevation (12.3%), and mean annual atmospheric temperature (3.4%). The study showed that the physicochemical indicators have an important influence on the soil stoichiometric ratio, further verified that the altitude is still the dominant factor affecting the stoichiometric ratio, and revealed that the influence of microenvironmental factors on the soil stoichiometric ratio should not be neglected, which provides a scientific basis for the in-depth study of the nutrient status of soils in mountainous areas of the Ili River Valley. To investigate the influence characteristic of cadmium on the resistivity of laterite, the laterite samples with different water content, dry density and cadmium content were tested to analyze the relationships between the influence factors and the resistivity of laterite using the two-electrode method, and finally the resistivity evaluation model of the cadmium contaminated laterite was proposed. The results showed that the resistivity of cadmium-contaminated laterite decreased with the increasing of dry density, water content and temperature. The resistivity sharply decreased in the range of dry density less than 1.30 g⋅cm-3, then gradually decreased and further stabilized. On the condition of different cadmium content, the resistivity gradually decreased with the increasing water content, and the most significant decrease was observed when the dry density was 1.20 g⋅cm-3. Under the same dry density and water content, the effect of temperature above 0 °C on resistivity was not significant. The increasing cadmium gave rise to the decreasing resistivity gradually, and the change in resistivity was significant when the cadmium content was less than 100 mg⋅cm-1. Considering the characteristics of dry density, water content and temperature comprehensively, the resistivity evaluation model of cadmium-contaminated laterite was established by the introduction of the volume water content, which had high fitting accuracy (R²=0.939 9), and the measured resistivity values were in good agreement with the model calculated resistivity values. The average mean absolute percentage error and root mean square error were 4.77% and 0.07, respectively. It could provided a theoretical model for the rapid electrical detection of heavy metal cadmium pollution in laterite areas, and it was beneficial for the quality evaluation of regional laterite cultivated land as a convenient analytical method. Purpose: Surveys generate valuable data in epidemiologic and qualitative clinical research. The quality of a survey depends on its design, the number of responses it receives, and the reporting of the results. In this study, we aimed to assess the quality of surveys in neurosurgery. Methods: Neurosurgical surveys published between 2000 and 2020 (inclusive) were identified from PubMed. Various datapoints regarding the surveys were collated. The number of citations received by the papers was determined from Google Scholar. A 6-dimensional quality assessment tool was applied to the surveys. Parameters from this tool were combined with the number of responses received to create the survey quality score (SQS). Results: A total of 618 surveys were included for analysis. The target sample size correlated with the number of responses received. The response rate correlated positively with the target sample size and the number of reminders sent and negatively with the number of questions in the survey. The median number of authors on neurosurgery survey papers was 6. The number of authors correlated with the SQS and the number of citations received by published survey papers. The median normalized SQS for neurosurgical surveys was 65%. The nSQS independently predicted the citations received per year by surveys. Conclusions: The modifiable factors that correlated with improvements in survey design were optimizing the number of questions, maximizing the target sample size, and incorporating reminders in the survey design. In order to examine the differences in bird community structure between artificial wetlands and natural wetlands in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, and to analyze the key factors affecting bird distribution, a sampling point method was used to investigate the birds of the two types of wetlands. The results showed that total bird species (90 species) and Shannon-Weiner index (3. 28) in the artificial wetlands were higher than those in the natural wetlands (83 species and 2. 97), respectively. However, the diversity index of families and genera (0. 681) was lower than that of natural wetlands (0. 686). There were more songbirds in the artificial wetlands(60 species)than in the natural wetlands (39 species),but more raptors(4 species),wading birds(25 species)and swimming birds(8 species)in the natural wetlands than in the artificial wetlands(1 species,19 species and 2 species). The Shannon-Weiner indexes of songbirds (2. 915) and climbers (1. 088) in the artificial wetlands were higher than those in natural wetlands (2. 171 and 0. 861), but the Shannon-Weiner indexes of land birds (0. 614), raptors (1. 330), wading birds (1. 825) and swimming birds (1. 672) in the natural wetlands were higher than those in artificial wetlands (0. 530, 0, 1. 819, 0. 300), respectively. The forest bird species (69 species) and Shannon Weiner Index (3. 030) in artificial wetlands were higher than those in natural wetlands (50 species, 2. 347), the waterbird species (33 species) and Shannon Weiner Index (2. 429) in natural wetlands were higher than those in artificial wetlands (21 species, 1. 911). The national key protected bird species (7 species) and Shannon Weiner index (1. 482) in natural wetlands were higher than those in artificial wetlands (2 species, 0. 562). Negative binomial regression analysis showed that hard ground was negatively correlated with bird species and number,respectively. Tree species was positively correlated with bird species,and water area was positively correlated with bird number. Land subsidence, as one of the main geological hazards in the plain area, has a potential impact on the safe operation of the expressway. In order to explore the land subsidence of the Beijing-Tianjin section of Beijing-Shanghai expressway, 70 Sentinel-1B satellite images from January 2017 to March 2020 were selected, and SBAS-InSAR technology was used to monitor the land subsidence along the section. The accuracy of InSAR monitoring result was evaluated by external level observation. On this basis, nine factors were divided into three categories to conduct spatial simulation of the settlement amount. By comparing the simulation effects of OLS, GWR and MGWR models, the relative optimal model was selected to conduct quantitative research on various influencing factors. The results show that the Beijing-Tianjin section of Beijing-Shanghai expressway exhibits uneven settlement characteristics, with a maximum annual sedimentation rate exceeding -90 mm?a-1. There are mainly six obvious severe settlement centers distributed in the study area, with three of them passing through by Beijing-Shanghai expressway. The quantitative analysis of MGWR model, which has the best simulation effect, shows that the deposition thickness of Quaternary system and groundwater level changes have greater influence on the settlement, while the topographical environmental factors have less influence. Background: Medicine has begun adapting to new information-sharing paradigms in the hyper-connected social media era. In this milieu, the role of journal websites in the dissemination of clinical and research information needs to be reevaluated. Objective: We sought to explore whether reader engagement with neurosurgical journal websites, reflected by the number of article views and downloads, correlated with the eventual number of citations received by the articles. Methods: The websites of all Medline indexed neurosurgical journals were screened to identify those that provided information regarding the number of abstract and full text views and downloads. Articles published in these journals between July 2010 and June 2011 were included in this analysis. Various article attributes were identified and the number of citations per article was obtained from Google Scholar. The impact factors of the selected journals for the year 2010 were obtained from the Journal Citation Reports. Results: Twenty-two journals that had published 2527 articles were finally included in this analysis. The number of abstract views, full-text views, and downloads all correlated strongly with the journal impact factors in 2010 as well as the eventual citations per article. The number of article downloads independently predicted the citations per article on multivariate analysis. Neurology India had significantly higher article views and downloads but lower citations per article than the other journals. Conclusions: Readers were found to engage significantly with neurosurgical journal websites and therefore, open access to articles would lead to increased visibility of articles, resulting in higher citation rates. h-indexes, Journal Impact Factors and CiteScores are often presented as a single numeric value, without providing any context. Under such circumstances, the reader is unable to fully appreciate, or comprehend, the information being presented. By not being transparent, it also presents the opportunity for unscrupulous operators, such as predatory journals, to provide non-sensical information in the hope that the potential author will misinterpret it and submit an article in the expectation that they are submitting to a high-quality journal. Dubious metrics are also able to enter the sector, again in the hope that their metric will be read under an incorrect assumption. Following an overview of the main metrics that are commonly used, this paper suggests how these metrics should be cited. Adopting these proposals would not only provide the reader will full information but also enable bogus measures, which have proliferated in recent years, to be recognized more easily. The quality of the scientific publication plays an important role in generating a large number of citations and raising the work's visibility. According to several studies, the number of citations has been actively used to measure the quality of the publications. Existing studies have identified the document-related factors, author-related factors, journal-related factors, and altmetrics as the factors that influence the citations of an article. However, the majority of the stated indicators for determining the quality of a publication involve factors from the publication that are related to the author or venue of an article but these are not related to the content of the article. The factors related to the quality of publication are ignored by existing literature. The purpose of this research is to identify, categorize, and correlate the quality criteria that influence citations. As a result, a systematic literature review (SLR) is undertaken for factor categorization, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient (PCC) is calculated to quantify the impact of factors on citations. The SLR collects relevant articles from several data sources from 2013 to 2022 and categorizes factors impacting citations. A subset of factors is identified from DBLPV13 dataset and correlation of these factors with citations is studied to observe the impact of these factors on citations. The factors include Readability, Recency, Open Access, Hot topics, Abstract Length, Paper Title Length, and Page Count. Pearson’s correlation is performed to test the impact of aforementioned factors on citations. It can be observed from correlational analysis that Recency, Open Access, Hot topics, Abstract Length, page count have a favorable impact on citations, whereas Readability, Paper title length has a negative relationship with citations. The relationship among the factors is nonlinear therefore Spearman’s Correlation is computed for comparison with existing studies and has been undertaken to validate the empirical and correlational analytic results. The study has contributed by identifying, categorizing, and correlating the quality factors that need to be prioritized. Apart from the broad and more obvious features, it is determined that there is a need to investigate quality-related factors of the article that are related to the contents of the article. The inclusion of scientific journals in prestigious indexers is often associated with higher citation rates; journals included in such indexers are significantly more acknowledged than those that are not included in them. This phenomenon refers to the Matthew effect on journal citations, according to which journals in exclusive rankings tend to be increasingly cited. This paper shows the opposite: that the inclusion of journals in local indexers ruled by inclusive logic reduces the Matthew effect on journal citations since it enables them to be equally exposed. Thus, we based our arguments on the comparison of 68 Brazilian journals before and after they were indexed in the Scientific Periodicals Electronic Library (Spell), which ranks journals in the Brazilian management field based on local citations. Citation impact indicators and iGini (a new individual inequality analysis measure) were used to show that the inclusion of journals in Spell has probably increased their impact factor and decreased their citation inequality rates. Using a difference-in-differences model with continuous treatment, the results indicated that the effect between ranking and inequality declined after journals were included in Spell. Additional robustness checks through event study models and interrupted time-series analysis for panel data point to a reduction in citation inequality but follow different trajectories for the 2- and 5-year impact. Welcome to the summer 2024 issue of IEEE Journal of Microwaves! This month we bring you twenty-one new research papers plus our 2023 Impact Factor! After three and a half anxious years and countless hours of effort we have now received our Clarivate rankings and the news is good. The 2024 Journal Citation Report came out on June 20 and IEEE Journal of Microwaves received a journal impact factor (JIF) of 6.9, putting us 34th of 354 journals in electrical engineering and 3rd amongst journals in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI). Our Scopus Citescore was also received and lists us at 10.7. We are off to a good start and have plans to move to bimonthly issues in 2025. Keep an eye out for our upcoming special issue on Microwaves in Climate Change towards the end of this year.

Introduction: Research activities have increased manifold due to the importance of scientific publication in advancing an academic career. Researchers find it strenuous to choose journals due to the availability of a higher number of scientific journals. Objectives: The objective of this study was to determine the various journal factors that affect its selection to publish research work and the motivating factors involved in it. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 219 dental professionals that included dental faculties, postgraduate students, and private dental practitioners of Odisha, through a self-administered questionnaire via Google Forms consisting of 15 items. Descriptive statistics and Chi-square test were used for statistical analysis with a level of significance set at 0.05. Results: Respondents were predominantly dental faculty (53%). Factors influencing journal selection were citation of the journal (89.4%), followed by impact factor and indexing of the journal. Less than half (42.4%) agreed to pay the publishing charges. It was observed that PubMed indexing was preferred, followed by Scopus. The reason to publish was different for faculty and postgraduate students. Conclusions: Researchers consider various factors before publishing in a journal with the intent of discoverability and recognition. The study revealed that indexing of journals and impact factor as important aspects of choosing a journal for publication.

Abstract The Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologia, published since 1925, is the most influential dermatological journal in Latin America, indexed in the main international bibliographic databases, and occupies the 50th position among the 70 dermatological journals indexed in the Journal of Citations Reports, in 2022. In this article, the authors present a critical analysis of its trajectory in the last decade and compare its main bibliometric indices with Brazilian medical and international dermatological journals. The journal showed consistent growth in different bibliometric indices, which indicates a successful editorial policy and greater visibility in the international scientific community, attracting foreign authors. The increases in citations received (4.1 ×) and in the Article Influence Score (2.9×) were more prominent than those of the main Brazilian medical and international dermatological journals. The success of Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologia in the international scientific scenario depends on an assertive editorial policy, on promptly publication of high-quality articles, and on institutional stimulus to encourage clinical research in dermatology.

The article titled "Reasons to write and publish scientific articles" highlights the importance of publishing scientific articles for surgeons. Despite their clinical, teaching, and administrative obligations, scientific productivity enhances the reputation of surgical services and the possibility of obtaining economic resources. There are two types of reasons for publishing: altruistic and personal. Additionally, the article mentions the importance of knowing what and where to publish, as well as the quality of the research and manuscript writing. The impact factor and the h-index are also mentioned as measures of research quality. Purpose: In academic publishing, research metrics play a crucial role in assessing the scientific impact and performance of the published literature, as well as of the journals in which they are published. Several journal-level metrics (JLM) such as the h-index of the analysed journals, total citations, total documents, citable documents, references and external citations per document are considered crucial indicators of the importance and reputation of the journals. We hypothesize that journals in the field of Medicine receive more citations than those in Surgical journals like Orthopaedic surgery, and hence have better JLM. This study aims to to assess and compare the JLM of Medical and Surgical journals between two time zones 2017–2019 vs. 2020–2022, i.e., pre and post-COVID-19 pandemic period. Methods: A cross-sectional bibliometric analysis of the top-ranked Orthopaedic, Medical, and Surgical journals was undertaken based on traditional JLM, using the SCImago database from 2017 to 2022. Our analysis focused on identifying trends in the h-index of the analysed journals, total citations, total documents, citable documents, references and external citations per document. Results: Overall Medical journals were found to have higher JLM than the Surgical and Orthopaedic journals. The h-index of Surgical journals, Medical journals and Orthopaedic journals were comparable between the two periods (pre and -post-COVID-19 pandemic); Total Cites (3 years), total documents (2017), total documents (3 years), total references, and citable documents (3 years) of Surgical journals, Medical journals and Orthopaedic journals were significantly higher in the period 2020–2022. Conclusion: There has been a steady increase in the number of publications from post COVID-19 period. Medical journals have higher JLM than Surgical and Orthopaedic journals. Objectives: As the volume of research publications in the field of otolaryngology has increased, so has the need to qualify articles through bibliometric analyses to identify the most important and impactful work in the field. Herein, we aim to identify the 100 most disruptive articles in ENT over a 60‐year period and examine how disruption index (DI) compares with other bibliometrics in identifying impactful works in the field. Methods: In this cross‐sectional bibliometric analysis, articles published between 1954 and 2014 in commonly referenced otolaryngology‐head and neck surgery (OHNS) journals were queried in PubMed. Publications were characterized by DI, journal, subspecialty discipline, and status as an impactful article in the field as determined by other bibliometrics such as citation count, the "Sleeping Beauty Index," and those derived by the modified Delphi process. Results: Of the 122,094 articles queried, 67,561 (55.3%) had available citation count as well as disruption score data, meeting inclusion criteria. The most represented subspecialty disciplines within the top 100 most disruptive articles were Otology/Neurotology (28%), General (Comprehensive) (27%), Head and Neck Surgery (12%), and Laryngology (11%). Fifty percent of articles identified as Sleeping Beauties and impactful via modified Delphi approach had scores in the top 86th percentile. Conclusion: DI in otolaryngology can be appreciated as an added dimension to existing indices and can unearth seminal research, which serve as early foundations of evidence‐based management in the field of OHNS today.
