The article describes the development of the legal situation regarding the mandatory vaccination against the coronavirus until the repeal of the COVID-19 Vaccination Obligation Act. The vaccination obligation was introduced on February 5, 2022, but the law was not implemented in March 2022. The COVID-19 protective measures were gradually relaxed, despite difficulties in the supply of patients and residents. An expert commission monitored the vaccination obligation and determined that vaccination will remain the central tool for managing the infection. It is recommended to make optimal use of vaccination in autumn/winter 2022 and to vaccinate at the right time. The COVID-19 Vaccination Obligation Act was repealed because the Omicron variant led to lower burdens on the healthcare system and the vaccination obligation was deemed disproportionate. Federal Minister Johannes Rauch emphasizes that the vaccination obligation will not be reintroduced. It is recommended to receive the fourth vaccination against the virus, especially for high-risk groups and individuals aged twelve and older. It is also mentioned that adapted vaccines for the Omicron variant have been approved and are available. [Extracted from the article]
